The meat lasagne was delicious and traditional (as it says on the menu). Great ambience and friendly staff. The lightings around the dinner table enhanced the experience.
One of the best Italian restaurant I’ve ever been to . The staff were exceptional and I will definetly be coming here again. The service people were one of the most warming, attentive and caring people.
Best pizza and pasta! Lovely service too, gnocchi was best I have ever had. Very helpful too! Will definately be back here in the future. Love!!
Delicious pasta and pizza, lovely staff, BYO, they let you customise your meals if you like (so good for vegos!). I would definitely recommend this place!
Wonderful, efficient, timely service for my group of 25 last night! Great idea to offer set menus, we were SO well fed, bread, pizzas (loved the mushroom one) and pasta, all fantastic quality. Lovely nostalgic night for an old favourite that still doesn't disappoint! Can't wait to go back when the renos are finished.
Fantastic Italian. Fast service, great staff and wonderful food. Great value to top it off. Been back here many times and never been disappointed.
Great night , good wholesome Italian food with great flavour and generous portions with friendly and attentive service. You will not leave this place hungry. Highly recommend especially for a group. BYO option is a bonus
Best pasta in the CBD. Always excellent service, very good quality & fresh ingredients. Generous portion sizes and friendly staff combined with on point pricing makes this easily 5 stars. Been ordering here for years.

So tonight I discovered this little place though a Brisbane Meetup group! It was $59 for two courses and wine during the meal and pretty good value! The garlic bread and pasta entree were fantastic. They offered it share style so everyone could pick and choose what they wanted. The main was a chicken breast dish alternating with osso bucco. For a large group of 42 this place did really well! Thanks for a lovely night!

For over 50 years Giardinetto in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley has been serving the sort of hearty Italian food that's now regarded as retro classics. I'm talking Nona-style food such as hearty spaghetti marinara, traditional meat lasagne and garlic prawns. If you remember when you could buy a large margarita pizza for $1.60 and a fillet mignon was $2.60, you probably ate there in the 1970s when the Valley started to gain its reputation as Brisbane's night life centre.
Great atmosphere, excellent food including entrées. I had the tortellini and it was delish - very filling! It said vegetarian/vegan options available for all meals on the front of the menu, however when asked for a vegetarian lasagne they said that wasn't an option.
Absolutely Fantastic!!. This is my favourite place to go with a group! The staff are so friendly which gives the place a fantastic atmosphere. We got the set menu which was all you can eat and our table was absolutely filled with delicious food! We had a gluten free person in our group and they sat down with her at the start and explained they could do anything on the menu for her and even asked how she liked her sauces etc! AND they brought her out gluten free garlic bread at the start which she had never had before. They made sure throughout that we had everything we needed and offered to make up anything else that we fancied then at the end they gave us the leftovers (of which there were plenty) away in a doggy bag. It's BYO and the prices are great so it makes for a cheap night. Going back this weekend with a group and can't wait!
Small venue with friendly staff who are keen to make an impression. Food was served in a timely manner and did not disappoint. This restaurant transports you from the grubby streets of fortitude valley to the tantalising world of Italian cuisine.
Sensational. Have been here previously and been impressed but I tell you what this again was beautiful, tasty, good italian food. My partner ordered the lasagna to die for, I ordered the Osso Bucco to die for, we then ordered a pizza to takeaway for the next day and I have to say Giardinetto you do one of the best or if not the best pizza in Brisbane. Service we very good, quick, friendly, engaging, it was a great night and fantastic food highly recommend!
Timeless Romance. With only nine tables in an intimate setting, it really is an ideal location for a first date, anniversary dinner or friendly meet-up. Beautiful paintings adorn the walls and soft lighting swims through the room. You get 4 minute pieces for garlic bread ($5) and two pieces of Bruschetta for $15. I'm not joking. The main meals (~$35 each) however, are huge and very rich. The service was friendly and food was delicious. I'm a little baffled to as the pricing, which is on par with 5 star hotels. If it was more affordable I would frequent this joint more often. $15 for two slices of Bruschetta and $35 for pasta is WAY too expensive.
Overall. Tasty, overpriced but very, very romantic.
Excellent authentic Italian menu with attentive service. And opened on a public holiday weekend. Very good.
Great pizzas, nice crispy base via olive oil. Pasta very good and not smothered in sauce. A tad salty. Great service to match. Kitchen hand helping clean tables when busy could do with some deodorant.
Spot on. Love the food here, it's always consistently good. Pasta carbonara was perfect (naughty but perfect). Service was great too.
Simply Lovely. I don't often bother with Italian when I eat out - I can usually cook it myself at home just as well and for a fraction of the price. I also haven't found any truly great italian places here in Brisbane on my travel. However I was craving italian and after taking a look through my Entertainment Book, I found Giardinetto. Then I took a quick squizz at the reviews on here and thought it was worth trying.
Well I am so pleased that we did - a EB voucher got us here, but it is the delightful food and service that will bring us back. On a rainy Friday night it was lovely to arrive to a lovely atmosphere and wonderful service. We were quickly seated by a wonderful man (quite possibly the owner?) and given menus. We decided on the potato and rosemary pizza bread, shared the stuffed mushrooms for entree, I had the tortellini for my meal and hubby enjoyed the veal and eggplant dish.
Our waiter was a source of good knowledge when we asked him to help us pick a wine to go with our dinner (whilst we drink a lot of wine, usually it's Australian and our knowledge of Italian wines is non-existant). He did a fabulous job with the red the perfect match to our food.
The pizza bread was divine - hubby isn't a fan of potato on bread/pizza's but even he wolfed down this offering. Next up were the mushrooms - the standout dish of the night for me - crunchy with the most delicious filling, I love mushrooms and these were heaven on a plate. Our mains were also delicious - my tortelling was cooked with bacon, garlic and cream - and the bowl that arrived was huge!!! Hubby also enjoyed his veal - he managed to clean his plate, I didn't quite make it. Of course this left no room for desert - perhaps next time.
In all we loved Giardinetto - the service was lovely, the ambience was perfect and the food was the sort of Italian I've been looking for in Brisbane. Most definately we will return.
Enjoyment. Dinner for 10 at Giardinetto and everyone of us enjoyed our food. Service was friendly, helpful and efficient. Evironment was good, corkage was cheap enough, food was delicious. Would have liked to see a few more items on the menu that were free of cream, but was a delightful evening. We were a big group but they looked after us well. We would go back.
Excellent all round. My family ate at Giardinetto's recently and it was excellent. The service was first-rate and very friendly and the menu was fantastic. The 5 mains and one entree that we ordered were all delicious and the herb bread was the best I've had. We will definitely return.
Perfect Italian. Trying to .... Perfect Italian.
Trying to find an Italian restaurant that is close to authentic is near impossible... Until now.
The wait staff here are very welcoming and passionate about what they serve. The menu was explained in detail and the wines that were recommended went well with our meals. I had the linguine pasta and my partner had the osso bucco. Both meals were cooked to high standards and were very filling. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a taste of real Italy.
Saxafun. "Giards" was a favourite during the seventies .Our young children loved to be included in a Thursday night (pay night ) dining out .It was Kid friendly back then!! the "must have" on the menu way back then was Giards fabulous calamari lovingly referred to by all as "rubber bands" and yes the Calamari is still part of the starters.
Recently and now sextegenarians we returned and we were not dissappointed. Yaga (the man in charge) runs a happy place and the food is great.
I recommend Giardinettos for its interesting menu, its reasonable pricing and its pleasant relaxed dining experience.
One request.... perhaps a pizza Marguarita for the menu??
Need to be open mondays. Love love love this italian restaurant. So excited to take my husband here for the first time but they need to be open on mondays. Intimate, great food and service and not at all expensive. For me to go here more than once means it is worth it!
Pizza was great here.
Pasta was quite nice too.
I wouldn't go there out of my way but if was invited to meet there I'd go again. Lovely owners.
Good food, could do better on the service!. The food here is good & I always have a lovely time at this restaurant. However the staff appear disorganised and indifferent - stepping up this restaurant's service standard would improve the dining experience significantly!!
Authentic Flavours!. Well I have to say my experience at Giardinetto was on whole a good one. The atmosphere was fine, I love being surrounded by italian cooking aromas! The food: on the whole really good. Some dishes people ordered were sub par... But I ll list some recommendations - spinach and fetta pizza!!!! Pumpkin raviolli, spagetti marinara, meatballs, AND TIRAMISU!!!!! stay away from chicken penne and gnocchi according to most. Would go back again. 3stars
Every single meal at the table was cooked to perfection. Full flavoured, generous servings with quality ingredients. I had the Marinara which was filled with prawns, calamari, fish and mussels that where tender and high quality. Starters and desserts where all amazing too. Service was friendly and the lady had really good recommendations.
The setting is very authentic and cosy with Italian decor and moody lighting.
The only thing that could have improved was the coffee.
Overall a great place to eat before a night out. Would definitely go back!
I ordered Spaghetti Marinara and it was delish!!! The seafood in it was so fresh and the flavour was authentic Italian. We also ordered a pizza and I thought it was nice but nothing to rave about. For desert, do yourself a favour and order the CASSATA della CASA soooo delicious!!! We also ordered the Tiramisu. All home made and soo good! Restaurant is BYO as well
The food was gunienly an Italian authentic plate. The service was great and the whole environment is friendly and would take you into beautifully classic Italian style. Absolutely recommended and will back again.
Best Pastas and Risottos in Brisbane I would say, You feel so welcomed with a very cozy and nice atmosphere which keeps you away from the hustle and bustle of Fortitude valley. Staff are very nice and welcoming and this place is our go to place for Pasta/Risotto.
Grazie Mille!
Absolutely delicous. The veal scalopini is to die for. I reckon i could eat 3 of the potato and rosemary pizza breads. The service and staff are just beautiful. Good old fashion service.
Went here on Wednesday night - OMG - food was delicious. We all left the table with no room spare. Couldn't fault anything. All 5 of us had something different- all perfect. Desserts just topped it off, especially the Tiramisu. 5 stars, we will be back!! Service was really accommodating and amazing
This place is a regular for us- incredible food, warm and efficient service and the best tiramisu! Traditional Italian dishes made full of flavour, fresh produce and generous serves.
