Review Joy Restaurant - Brisbane

Took me about 8 months to get a booking here and it was definitely worth the wait. Hats off to Chef Sarah & Maddie! 😍 We had an amazing time and the food was just divine. Each course had intricate flavour and was beautifully presented. We opted for the beverage pairing Sarah made for her dishes - needless to say that every drink complimented its chosen dish very well. The Genmaishu in particular was excellent. My husband doesn’t eat beef, Sarah did a great job accommodating this as he didn’t feel like he missed out on anything. We both were beyond satisfied in the food and alcohol department when we left! Special mention to the Mont Blanc dessert 👌🏾 sensational! Thank you both again! Can’t wait to visit again 🤎

Beautiful, delicious and amazing. Sarah is in her element and has place so much thought into each dish. Maddie, also has such a great knowledge of spirits and both women give you a culinary experience you will never forget. We will be back.

Wow! This was certainly worth the wait. We've been trying to come here for the last year. When we were finally able to get a booking we were ecstatic. This lived up to our expectations plus more. Sarah and Oliver were amazing. The aesthetics were fantastic but the service and the food was out of this world. Sarah's attention to detail was superb. We couldn't fault any meal we had. The cocktails were brilliant as well. If you can't get a booking just keep trying. It's worth being persistent as this is one of Brisbane's best. Will definitely try to get back in again!

Took me 6 months to successfully book a table 4 months in advance. With all the hype and praise of Joy I heard, I had a very high expectation and it has certainly met my expectation, if not exceeded it. From Sarah and Maddie greeting us at the door of the restaurant, to sending us off 2.5 hours later, it’s certainly a one of the best dining experience you can have in Brisbane, maybe even in Australia. The menu, the beverage pairing, the service, even the decor of the restaurant and the placement of plates and everything, in my opinion, is a meticulously orchestrated dining experience which has executed perfectly by Sarah and Maddie. By watching Sarah preparing foods in front of us, you can tell she is an OCD person around the kitchen. I believe this is what makes her excel at what she is doing. It’s certainly won’t be the same without the impeccable service from Maddie. They are just very lovely people. I would give 6 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ if I can.

Joy was such a beautiful intimate location that just oozed modern and creative. Each dish was so delicate and carefully prepared, the presentation was exquisite. The flavors were just as wonderful, my personal favourite was the first dessert. I got the short course drinks pairing and that was perfect to go with the dishes. Each dish and drink was explained as they were brought out. Could not recommend this highly enough for an immersive and incredible dining experience. Thanks Sarah and Maddy!

The wait to get a reservation here is well and truly worth it. Exceptional personalised service, and a 6 star culinary experience. The best in Brisbane!

Wonderful meal with a great wine list. Both Tim and Sarah were incredibly welcoming and very knowledgeable. Great storytelling with some unique and excellent flavour combinations. You can tell they have a real passion. It’s a 10 seater restaurant so book ahead!!

A very unique dining experience in Brisbane and one that should be on everyone's list to check off. Choosing between a short or long menu, Joy is a degustation only dining experience that is wonderful from the moment you sit down to when the chefs thank you at the end. Sitting on a long bar, the two chefs do everything from serving drinks, preparing and cooking the dishes to clearing the plates, Joy is an intimate and memorable dining experience that really has no peer at present. Different and unusual food pairings that work and flavours that tease and challenge your palate make for great memories. Thank you Tim and Sarah! PS. Go for the long menu.

Second birthday dinner at the end of 2019 and we were lucky enough to secure seats at Joy, which had only recently been bestowed two chef's hats by Good Food Guide 2020. I had long been looking for a good enough excuse to try out the food here and a birthday was the perfect opportunity. Staying up to midnight 3 months ahead of time to book the last 3 seats for the night, it was definitely exclusive.

Absolutely worth the 3 month waiting list. Just 10 diners in a line facing the kitchen. This has been my favourite dining experience of the year. Definitely recommend Joy.

Not sure how this has a 3.6/5 considering all the reviews are 5 star. Anyway, this restaurant is one of the best in Bris, if not _the_ best in Bris. I've been to Aria, I've been to Cha Cha Chars, I've been to Sirromet, I've been to a bunch of high-end restaurants, some of them with the reputation of being the best in Brisbane, and none of them are as good as this one.

The food is incredible, the atmosphere is incredible, the approach to seating only 10 people and being able to interact with the chefs Tim and Sarah as they cook you delicious meals is unique and incredible, and I wish more restaurants would follow suit.

Great vibe, good technique and unique vision. The chefs are right in front of you and it's great to see them work and interact with them throughout the course. Also, killer playlist.
Had the most amazing experience at Joy Restaurant. Amazing service with a well thought out menu. Every dish encompasses varied flavours and textures which creates a multitude of explosion in your mouth. Having the chefs infront of you and interacting with you creates a more personal atmosphere.

Overall one of my favourite restaurants and defiantly will be back. Also get the 8 course menu... I would hate to be the people that order the six and stare with food regrets as the people next to you get extra dishes.
Had the food with wine journey. Delightful and exciting from start to finish. From the graffiti mural to the Japanese inspired food presentation, flavours and wine pairing, this place is great. A lot of thought and preparation makes for a seamless and utterly professional experience. The evening was like a fantastic dinner party for 10 with friendly and knowledgeable hosts .... good music too!
