Hubby and I decided to check out the summer menu (Feb 2019), so off we trotted for lunch this week on a hot Brisbane day. We sat outside on the front deck which was fine; the inside was cool and air-conditioned but the music was a bit loud for us. Service was prompt and friendly, with the young lady server checking if we were ready for drinks to begin with. Hubby chose the Tropical drink ($7) – watermelon, pine and apple. This was freshly juiced and served with ice, and he was happy with the flavours. I had the sea salt iced coffee ($8) made on cold drip coffee with salted cream. I really enjoyed the salty tang of the cream, and having a cold coffee was a good thing on a hot day.
I had the fried chicken benny ($19): a brined chicken thigh, with bacon, eggs, greens and sriracha hollandaise. The chicken was spicy and delicious, with a golden crunchy coating and very moist meat. I chose fried eggs which were runny (just the way I like them), though you can have them any way you please – poached, scrambled etc. The bread was soaked in juices which was fabulous, and the chilli taste of the hollandaise had soaked into it, giving it a great flavour. Oddly, I couldn’t taste the chilli in the actual hollandaise itself, so I would have liked more of that. I’m not a fan of greens like kale or these collard greens, so I left them on my plate – sorry But I think if they had been more tender and shredded, it would have been more palatable for me.
Hubby had the Todd’s cheeseburger ($13): a house made beef pattie, cheese, pickles and mustard on a milk bun. He was pleased that the bun was not sweet, but felt the pattie needed more flavour, maybe some cumin or ground coriander. Oh, and he hates eating from a wooden board, so he wasn’t happy about that. Usually he asks for a plate when we are out but he forgot this time. He loved that there was plenty of salsa and sauce, and the mustard was tasty. The chips were crunchy outside and soft inside as they should be. The flies were a bit of a problem, so we had to keep swatting them away. A large fan or two would have been great to keep away the flies and cool us down a bit, not that it was uncomfortably hot. I am dying to go back to try the choc banana peanut butter sundae with bacon!
They have split billing which is always good. They are licensed, and are open 7 days a week, from 7am to 2pm on weekends and 6am to 2pm week days.

My earlier review June 2018:
Intrepid hubby and I ventured out on this beautiful autumn day to have lunch on the ‘other’ side of town. Todd & Pup is in a quiet residential area of Moorooka, which gives the cafe a serenely calm atmosphere. We sat out on the front deck area, with just enough sunshine to keep us warm. Service was prompt, friendly and efficient. The charming young lady took our orders with a smile, and brought our meals quickly.
Hubby chose the sweet potato and halloumi stack. He loved this dish. He said that though it didn’t look huge coming out, it was actually a substantial meal. It looked very pretty on the plate, too. The fried eggs had a sunny, runny yolk just the way he likes them; the pesto plus fresh basil leaves gave it a delicious zing, and the sweet potato and halloumi were generous pieces. His organic ginger beer was a winner too, if a little less gingery than he likes.
I chose the G & T Benedict: gin cured salmon, with poached eggs, pickled cucumber with finger lime pearls, and hollandaise on rye. This was really tasty, with a combination of flavours that really popped. My slight quibble is that I found the salmon slices a bit too thick for my taste. The eggs were beautifully runny, and the hollandaise was luscious. My Peanut Butter and Choc freakshake was just that bit too big and oversweet for me, but I enjoyed the flavour combo. We shared a bowl of nicely salted chips with aioli. I found the aioli tangy, but a wee bit bitter. Mr P. said he didn’t, so clearly it depends on your palate.
I love that this café is dog-friendly with water bowls and doggy icecream available. There were a few children with parents when we were there, so it felt like a warm and family-friendly place to be. All up, we had a very pleasant lunch, in a quietly sunny area, with delicious and generous food.
