Great shakes and great coffee, menu is smaller then before but the classics are still as good as ever. Would highly recommend the chocolate malt thickshake which was the best I’ve had in a while. Great job guys.
Accessibly located in the main Ashgrove shopping strip, this is my go-to for mid-grocery coffee. Lovely staff and reliable coffee, with some great cakes too. If you decide to stay for a meal, just be aware it’s counter service!
Came here for breakfast before work and it was buzzing with activity. Great friendly staff with reasonably priced good. There was a wide variety of food available for every fussy eater. The drinks were super fresh and brewed to perfection
Came here for breakfast. I had the Bircher muesli which was nice, a bit to runny for how I would usually prefer my muesli but the flavour and fruits on top were nice. My husband got the avo on toast with eggs which was delicious. Would definitely go back and had what he ordered next time.
I can't go past Milk! I love that they support local businesses and the staff are SO friendly. I recently took a friend here for lunch and mentioned in conversation that it was my friend's birthday - the waitress bought out a cupcake on the house!! The salads are great.
I have been a number of times for breakfast and never disappointed. The shakes are so tasty and there are lots of food options. I love this place!
Lovely team here, be prepared to see an influx of MSM girls there during after/before school... The menu isn't too massive but the drinks and milkshakes are amazing here! Definitely go for the drinks. The thick cut chips are amazing too! No vegan options really besides like chips and avo on toast. As I said - go for a milkshake and the fries and you'll love it.

I ordered the Javanana shake, a mixture of a banana smoothie and espresso. Brought to me with a smile, the waitress asked if I had tried this before. I told her I had not, and she replied; "you'll either love it or you'll hate it, if you don't like it I can make you something else" I loved it.
For lunch, I had the roasted pumpkin flat bread with the mega chips. Both were enjoyed immensely, full of flavour, and well crunchy.
All things were very reasonably priced, situated on a corner in Ashgrove, a charming atmosphere and outdoor dining option.
I would happily recommend, and return. 😆
I've had the pleasure of dining here twice now, both times on a busy day and both times without a reservation. The coffee is good, the food is good, unpretentious, and reasonably priced. This visit, I had a salad with my wrap instead of the standard thick cut, crispy, well salted chips. One of the tastiest salads I've had in a long time, and one I aim to recreate in the home kitchen. This cafe derserves to succeed.
Super friendly staff and very relaxed atmosphere. Ordered a cap and an iced caramel latte and thoroughly enjoyed both! Prices are reasonable but edging on the slightly more expensive size. We'll be back!

Ticked all the boxes for me! We visited at peak time on a Sunday morning and were lucky to grab a table for four outside. I started with a pineapple and mint juice - a tad sweet as I think it was made with tinned fruit but it was very refreshing. My double shot almond milk flat white was also really good.
Our group ordered french toast with bacon, maple syrup and icecream; smashed avocado on sourdough toast with tomatoes and feta; Nutella pancakes with banana and icecream; and Queensland bircher muesli with greek yogurt, coconut, honey and macadamias. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the portions were huge! Especially the pancakes - they'd have been a big serving for two! I loved my muesli, a tad sweet for me but still very delicious - loved the use of macadamia nuts! A really varied menu too which was great.
My mum discovered a piece of a sugar packet at the bottom of her coffee cup but when she notified the staff they were hugely apologetic, made her a fresh one and gave her a card for a free coffee on her next visit. It's this type of service that makes a cafe stand out for me. All the staff were polite and courteous which made our breakfast all the more enjoyable. For the amount of people in the café, props to the kitchen staff who got our orders out quickly too.
We went back on another day for coffees and thickshakes. The deluxe Nutella thickshake is absolutely delicious!! Just YUM!!

Real food, cheerful staff, sunny courtyard. Very busy at times but I guess that's the price of being reliable and child-friendly.

I've been for the shakes before (the Nutella one is amazing!), but this time I went for breakfast and that was great too! I had the French toast, which is served with bacon, strawberries and ice cream. Really good!
Excellent. I've been here twice now and plan on going back asap. I've tried 4 different milkshake flavours and they have all been delicious. (caramel and double choc oreo are exquisite) The red lentil burger was very tasty and the chips were fantastic. Aoili is often so disappointing at restaurants but this stuff was spot on, same with the hollandaise sauce. They taste home made. I can't wait to come back and try some more milkshakes
Nice food and friendly service. Love Milk have been a few times now and never disappointed. The staff are friendly and the service can't be faulted. I think I have only been for breakfast and but nothing I have ordered I would have an issue with. Their eggs benedict is really good with not an overload of hollandaise. I love that they serve milkshakes in metal milkshake containers. Makes them stay colder. Will be back it's one of my favourites.
7/10. The service is fast and friendly and it's a really cute little establishment. I went here for lunch and had an amazing mango smoothie made with real fruit followed by the vegetarian burger. The burger was good but I would have enjoyed the lentil pattie to be a little more flavoursome. I got a chai latte from here takeaway recently which was absolutely horrible, I ended up throwing it out which was such a shame but would definitely go back and try more of their food.
All I can say is wow! On entry we were greeted by 2 lovely girls who gave us a guided tour of the cafe. We had 2 amazing burgers and 2 deluxe cookies and cream thick-shakes which were so delicious! The place had such a friendly vibe and we will definitely be back! 10 out of 10 for food and service at Milk :)
EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS. I have been a very regular customer at MILK for the past four years and can honestly say they constantly exceed customers expectations whether it be with their wholesome, delicious food or their fabulous service, MILK café goes above and beyond what you would expect from your local café. I am very disappointed and really quite astonished at some of the reviews and cannot help but think they are deliberately negative due to personal reasons about the establishment. MILK makes everyone feel like home, they invite you in, take good care of you and when you are finished send you happily on your way. I eat lunch and breakfast at MILK 3-4 times a week and regularly get coffee and drinks with friends. They use fresh ingredients and their avocado on sourdough is a personal favourite as well as their skim cappuccinos and banana smoothies!
Amazing. Went here today for the first time.. Was drawn in by the vibrant yellow everywhere! They had such a beautiful setting - classy, but comfortable and homely at the same time. I only ordered chips and a smoothie, but the waitresses and cashier staff were so helpful! Honestly one of the best services I've ever received! They made sure we were comfortable, made sure all our meals were okay and were very helpful in accommodating my dairy & gluten free needs. Will definitely return!!!
Come here once a week with my little bro. Service is always super friendly and on weekdays, at least, order is filled very promptly. I usually get a chocolate milkshake and a blt. Simple and ddelicious. I've read some reviews on here with people whinging about the price but I'ld say the prices here are very good value.
Milk has a great atmosphere,great service,great food and drinks with great prices! The service was outstanding! Would have to say one of the best places with great service!!!!! My food was great!!! I had a chicken burger which was finger licking delicious and a great watermelon and raspberry frappe'! The prices are affordable and I would recommend it to anyone!
Lunch with the family was a hit here! Great milkshakes, delicious chips and burgers with generous servings. The service was prompt and friendly, and the place was nice and clean with funky decor. With a fun, unpretentious vibe its a great family-friendly cafe. Will be back again!
Excellent breakfast and coffee. Just had breakfast at Milk with a large group including several kids. The service was very prompt with drinks coming out within 5 mins and breakfasts soon after. They cater very well for the kids. Had the Lean Mean breakfast and it was delicious, perfect poached eggs and very tasty ricotta cake on sourdough bread. Whole group was very happy with meals. And the coffee was nice and strong.

Great tasty solid food. Good coffee. Not a good place if you don't like kids. They hire young guys so service can be patchy but we've never had serious problems.
Spectacular. I decided that I would quickly pop into milk on my way to work and I was pleasantly surprised . Excellent service the staff were bright and bubbly I had a delicious latte with banana bread and most of all the great atmosphere . If you have not tried milk it is worth a visit .

Great! Watch out for the kids though. Sweet little suburban diner-style place with a retro milk-bar vibe. Tasty burgers, lovely little sweet treats, friendly staff but can be absolutely overrun with screaming kids during peak hours. Best avoid early afternoons and weekend mornings if you're not so into the little people.

Milk - Ashgrove, Brisbane. Often said to have some of the best milkshakes in town, Ashgrove's own milk bar name "Milk" is a popular place to go to. Being scattered around town in small suburban streets, milk bars are a seemingly dying concept in themselves. Though many fans of Milk say that it is a good way to show younger generations (myself probably included) what milk bars and their food were like, along with the statement of the best burgers/milkshakes etc in town is it worth an endeavour?
Milk finds itself adjacent to a Coles, along a main road with proximity to another main road. Coming up from the car park using the escalators, Milk is straight in front of your face and cannot be missed by that route. It is slightly larger than a hole-in-the-wall and makes great use of its space.
The interior does not use yellow as much as one would expect from the sign, though there are smatterings of the colour around the place. Like a milk bar, in ways it does use the stripped sail quite well above the counter area for ordering and even has an appealing black-and-white photograph (akin to a 1940s film noir) set in a similar place with one guy having a yellow hat (the only colour in the photograph). They certainly know how to attract the customers with the counter area enticing with many sandwich and sweet options. However, if I do have a gripe about it the place was in need of a mopping and sweeping as well as a possible refurbishment to create a better aesthetic to the eatery.
The waitresses I got were friendly and helpful. Milk had quite an ingenuous mode of ordering where when you were ready you went up and place your order before selecting your seat with the table number. With the family owned vibe, there was the air of honesty with many of the staff being quiet young trying to get into the workforce. This might imply to some a degree of incompetence but it shows more about the cafe and helping people get qualified for jobs than anything else.
I went here with a friend utilising a coupon deal. The coupon deal got us two burgers of our choice (both of them a Brissy Burger - essentially a hamburger with the lot), a fries to share and two sundaes of our choice. Anything extra needed to be paid for; because of the hearsay about how good the milkshakes were each of us got one (me a thickshake - pineapple coconut pie). The deal had a protocol that the sundae had to be under $9.50 or fork out the rest so I got the Uluru Rocks (from memory with coffee, macadamia and chocolate ice cream whipped cream and chocolate syrup) .
The burger was substantial and outstanding; the egg seemed to be cooked very well and be authentic, the hamburger patty was made with proper meat and the pineapple added a good hint of sweetness - every ingredient was distinguishable. Like any real place for burgers, after the first bite everything started leaking on the plate than after the second things began falling out (for clarity, that is the best indication of what a great burger is - essentially one that feels homemade). It was a big one and good while it lasted.
The fries were passé, occasionally there might have been a nice one but they mostly seemed under-cooked; I could give them a miss.
Now the thickshake might be the best part of the meal. It was served in the distinct metal containers that a carvery would use. When it first came to the table, the container was frosted over and felt like it came straight out of the freezer. It was difficult to suck it through the straw (I have had harder ones) and it came with two (the milkshake only had one) but was soothing and beatific in texture and flavour.
By the end of it I was starting to feel full, but had a sundae to go. Milk utilised good quality ice-cream for their sundaes (they told outright on the menu), and it showed. Each flavour of ice-cream was delicious and it had little surprises in each one (macadamia nuts in one, chocolate in another and possibly some coffee beans). While the decorations of whipped cream and chocolate syrup were not bad, they could have done without due to the ice-cream being Connoisseur. I will also give extra points to the presentation, with the sundae being served in a banana split bowl.
After all the hearsay and hype for Milk, I am glad that I went and I can say that I was neither disappointed nor underwhelmed. The list of milkshake flavours in very extensive and goes beyond the usual flavours even making some unique and clever combinations (including what I got). Though you will fork a fair bit out for the burgers (they are worth it though) it definitely warrants a visit, even if it is only for one of their milkshakes. Much like that, even if it will only be for one of their milkshakes - and that is not out of the realm of possibility - I would visit this place again and look forward to doing so.

MERLO?. I am always driving past milk on the way to work but i never used to go in because they used merlo coffee and i have had a number of bad merlo coffees . ONe day i popped in and wow what a spectacular coffee that was the best in many years what a great barista i thought. Because of that great experience now i wlll always buy merlo but since that coffee i have still not found a place with better coffee than milk . I am now a regular customer and the staff are always bright and bubbly when i come in most of all Lucy .
Chai and Cupcakes. Milk is daily owned and has the classic Milkbar feel. The owner Amanda is always pleasant and willing to please. I regularly treat myself to a chai milkshake which is not offered at many places. I love the homely feeling of the place and the food is also very yummy.
I was incredibly impressed that after ordering a pineapple and mint frappe I found it a little too minty, so left it. When we left the store Amanda ran after us and said I noticed you didn't drink much of your frappe so i tasted it and it was way too minty. I'm so sorry here's a voucher for a free one next time!
Not many small cafe and business owners are willing to admit and fix a small mistake like that. Well Done.
Has it's ups and downs. I am a big fan of Milk, however be aware has its up and downs. My most recent visit my order was taken in correctly and had to be replaced. My dining companion had finished by the time I received my replacement. Generally better when the lady who appears to be the owner is there.
Milky goodness. Over forty flavours of milkshakes from classics to the more inventive and great to see they cater for the lactose intolerant. You can probably pass on the food, which is not too bad. But DEFINITELY stay for those old school style shakes!
Daughter loves it!. My daughter and I popped in recently with a school friend. I had a mango frappe (beautiful) and they both had milkshakes, served in the old fashioned aluminium cup. They were a hit. They shared chunky hot chips with aoili which are lovely and served in a cone paper cup in a metal stand. Very funky. They serve Merlo's coffee as well. Great for afternoon tea or snack. I haven't had breakfast or lunch there yet but the menu looks great. Two for one milkshakes I discovered on a Tuesday for children.
My boyfriend and I absolutely LOVE the Milk franchise. Whilst the one at Wilston/Newmarket IS closer, we prefer the atmosphere of the one at Ashgrove. Expensive-ish brunch for us poor students but fantastically yummy. Get a milkshake! They're divine. Great portion sizes for the price, and always lovely service.
Clean yet bright with a retro twist, the yellow-coloured stripes at Milk instantly made me feeling perkier after 9 hours of flying. On top of that, a big glass of blueberry smoothies together with a plate of eggs, sausage, bacon and hash browns were the perfect combination to cure my mini jet-lag. Milk, anyone?

Where to begin, staff are really friendly, and not in that annoying way either, just genuinely nice, what I think was the owner also went out of her way to say goodbye as we were leaving which was really nice.
Now onto the food and drinks, while it may seem a little on the expensive side, you do get what you pay for, we had the fruit milkshakes and they were quality and not in those deceptive glasses, you got a very good amount of liquid which was a nice surprise.
Also surprising was the food, you may look at the price and think "That's a little steep!", but you get plenty of food. I struggled to even bite down on the burger and had to resort to being a barbarian and use a knife and fork! And yes, it was delicious, the nice contrasts of flavour and texture was not overwhelming.
I can't wait to come back here.
Friendly service quick . Huge selection of non alcoholic beverages. But the meal selection is the opposite. We wanted to try the advertised donut listed on the board .But unfortunately they apparently sold out at 9:30 am. Is that for real. We had the Milk Bar specialty bacon croissant and hollandaise sauce. It was beautiful tasty and beautifully cooked.
Staff were friendly and informative about the drinks. Some would consider the drinks pricey but believe me when I say you get alot of bang for your buck at Milk. The drinks were filled to the brim, the quality of the fruit used was very high and very fresh. Tasted amazing and was topped with fresh fruit. I would give this place 6 stars if I could.

We visited on a weekday morning in time for a late breakfast. We were greated by friendly staff who set the tone for our visit.
The location is clean and setup nicely. You have the option to sit inside or outside. We chose outside so we could take advantage of the beautiful sunny day. The only negative with sitting outside is the cars and trucks regularly driving past.
The menu presentation is basic and could do with an update.
We ordered a Big Bopper and a hash brown breakfast. We also ordered a pot of tea and Mango/ Banana smoothie.
Our meals were a really good serving size. The food was really nice as was the smoothie.
I highly recommend this venue and we happily visit again.
Best cafe in Brisbane! This is my local cafe for work and everyday is started off right when I come in for coffee and the occasional breakfast. The staff is so friendly and accommodating to my new vegan lifestyle. They are so lovely to the locals and newcomers. Great food and quick service!
