Our 7th visit in 14 months speaks volumes. Zutto Bento provides good food and generous servings at reasonable prices. For this reason, our family and friends keep coming back!
Phuong Tran and I visit for a light lunch. A Seafood Udon for me and PT opts for a Salmon Poke Bowl. Freshly prepared our delicious lunch is served in 15 minutes. See you in December. Sayonara!
Good services and foods for the price point, really fresh sashimi and will recommend to try out their sashimi platter with hand craft wasabi!
Came on a Thursday evening and I had reservations, but realised they had plenty of room. Food portions were good and the sake flight was worth it! Sashimi was decent and fairly cut. In general, great bang for your buck if you love sushi!
Delicious food at reasonable prices! Staff are also super friendly and accommodating. I have visited with family and friends on many occasions- highly recommend the bento boxes if you’re hungry!
Has to be the best japanese restaurant in the area. Their location is ideal with the car park just outside. The parking attendant was very rude to us by assuming we weren't eating in one of the restaurants but that didn't ruin out experience at zutto bento. The choices on the menu are very unique. We tried multiple things on the menu only because we hadnt come across them before. And we werent dissappointed. Amazing portion sizes and amazing flavours. The food looked amazing. Total insta worthy. Their kids meals are also huge. some very happy kids. The staff were also very attentive. They brought out kids cutlery and bowls and also colouring paper and pencils. So polite. Amazing food experience. We will definitely be back.
Great service. Really great food all around with large servings for the price point! Would definitely come back and recommend the sashimi bento box
Today I was invited to have dinner at Zutto Bento and I couldn't have been much happier with my meal.
I had edamame, teriyaki tofu bento box, inari and a glass of Sapporo.
The teriyaki tofu bento box was a big serve for a small price, served with different vegetables, pickles, salad and edamame. The sauce was rich and had a smoky flavour which I don't recollect having before but was enjoyable nevertheless.
The Inari also was quite different from the classic ones I've had before which were only filled with sushi rice, this one was also filled with vegetables breaking the sweetness of the Inari and giving more texture to it.
My beer was served extremely cold which is more than appropriate for the current weather.
Overall I had a good surprise and a good start of a week thanks to Zutto Bento.
Zutto Bento is a Japanese eatery that took up residence in Rosalie a few months ago. Not being locals in the area, we would not have known about it, had it not been for an invitation to visit. Given that Japanese is our favourite cuisine (we have more than just matcha), we were keen to check them out.
Needed a Bento fix and thanks to my entertainment voucher discount, off I went to Rosalie.
It was 5pm, just on opening and expected it to be quiet, surprisingly there were already a few occupied tables
No disrespect but none of the diners were asians. I am always weary when faced with this scenario.
Ordered a teriyaki beef bento box, refer to picture for visual explanation.
The portion was large enough to justify the price. The beef and veges were cooked to perfection with the char smell/taste. The rest of the accompaniments were normal but well presented and made.
If I had to make a constructive comment, it would be that the teriyaki sauce is a little bit on the sweet side, but it could be a personal preference.
Will I be back? I believe so
Zutto in Japanese means forever, and I must say this restaurant now has a customer for life. Great service is so underrated in my opinion and I have to compliment the waitress on her attentive nature. All we had to do was look up and she was already on her way over. Oh but the food, we went with 2 bento boxes, one karaage and one sushi/sashimi. Karaage box came with 5-6 large pieces of marinated karaage on a bed of rice and caramelised onion. I was taken aback by this at first however after my first mouthful I realized that it added a sweetness which paired well with the soy flavored, crispy fried chicken to create balance in the dish. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The sushi sashimi came with 4 nigiri and 8 pieces of sashimi which were very fresh and perfectly sliced. To my surprise the sashimi was some of the best I’ve had in a restaurant in Brisbane for quite some time. No joke. The sashimi was very fresh (no smell whatsoever) and the knife work was excellent which makes all the difference between average and very good sashimi imo. To top it all off, both boxes came with 2 salmon avo sushi rolls, 2 takoyaki and a small salad and Japanese pickles (otsukemono) which I love, plus a miso soup. The side dishes added value which I’m an absolute sucker for, and variety. If I was to be very picky I would say that the takoyaki were slightly doughy and needed a bit more octopus inside. Overall left feeling stuffed to my neck for only $20 which for the amount of enjoyment we had, was money very, very well spent. Keep it up Zutto Bento!🍱
Had a completely packed day on Saturday last week. First thing in the morning I had the privilege to shadow the super talented FoodieAdam in a photoshoot, I definitely learned a lot there. After our hard work, we headed over for a lazy lunch at Zutto Bento after receiving a very gracious invite from Chefs John and Ryan. It has only been open roughly six months and has taken up the lodgings of Casamia, along Nash Street in Rosalie. Having read wonderful feedback from a few of my favourite reviewers, and my absolute devotion to Japanese food I was super excited and knew we would have an amazing time.
Quality Japanese at an Affordable price point
Came here the other day with a good friend and we left rolling out and with takeaway container (her eyes were bigger than her stomach lol).
Loved the quality raw fish and sushi rolls. And as an added bonus they had sushi donuts as well, a first for me :)
Love the relaxing atmosphere and nice service. Will definitely come back soon for more!
Fresh Japanese eatery in Rosalie Mews which I’ve had hard bookmarked from day dot...& with good reason it turns out.
Scallop nigiri, salmon nigiri & tempura veggies were fantastic - individually all worth a return visit alone. Sushi donuts are creative & novel...but I’ll always prefer literal consumption over insta-worthy gimmicks. Surprisingly filling, I’m sure these are a big hit with the young’uns.
Since we were adulting, we loved the Asahi on tap (shame the Fat Yak on the menu wasn’t available) & sake. And delightful service: checking in, providing share plates, making sure we were okay with scallops being rare (um hello yes!). Aaaand best of all; it’s in the goddam entertainment book. Top value.
We’ll return on the reg & for the signature bento boxes real soon. A worthy rival to nearby Moga.
Thanks for the invitation from Chef Robert and his partner Ryan to have a decent dining experience of lunch yesterday. The newly opened Japanese does shed its glory at the Rosalie suburb. Trading strategy is clever to focus on serving bento as the self-explained on its trading name. Walked in and we were greeted by the very friendly waitress. Then Chef Robert led us to a table and we started to peruse the menu. We ordered a small sashimi plate and Fried Chicken Wing with spicy sauce for entrees. A Karaage chicken bento box and a Rainbow Sushi Donut as the main to share. Sashimi plate serves with five varieties of proteins. Well presented with generous portion and freshness deserves the thumb-up. Just $25.00 is a bargain (4.5/5). We both love the chicken wing very much, where the wings are well cameralised and tendered. Taste is just spot-on (5/5). Next came to the table is the Rainbow Sushi Donut. Honestly, this is the first time that I have such dish but it left me a very good impression (4.5/5). Next to the table is the Bento box, which came in two boxes: one with the takoyaki, sushi rolls salad and pickles and the other with heaps of karaage chicken balanced with cauliflower, broccoli and lotus root and perfectly cooked rice underneath. Accompanied with the bento are the miso soup and the Edamame. Honestly, just $19.00, this bento box is good enough for two people to share, the only fault is the lotus root which is not that crunchy but the tenderised karaage gains marks back (4/5). At last, Chef Robert adds on another extra dish of Agesashi Tofu, which is so silky and tasteful and we both so full and nearly cannot leave the restaurant.... Once again! Thanks for the hospitality...Chef Robert & Ryan. Overall marks should be 4.5/5 :)
Top quality Japanese food and low prices. I love Zutto Bento so much, never had a bad experience. The staff here are absolutely lovely. Service is top notch and food is always so fresh and yummy. Best Japanese restaurant in the area!
We can't get enough of this place. The Niagara roll is our favourite. They do really nice Sushi donuts as well. Service is so sweet and polite and the food is extremely good.
Update 4/1/19
Still can't get enough of this place. Still great service and the food is still amazing. Again we got our fav Niagara roll and it was still awesome. I found the kids meals very generous and great options. Officially addicted to it. Hands down our favourite Japanese restaurant.
Beautiful and fresh and Asian restaurant grime free. It’s clean and delicious food and chef will cook to order. Lovely steak and divine tofu agedashi Come and try you will love it
And yes they pour asahi
Origato
I tried the karage chicken bento and was told I had made an excellent choice by the attentive wait staff. I left very happy with a full belly. The sushi was fresh and delicious, the chicken was hot and tender, and everything was presented beautifully. I hope this place sticks around!
Zutto Bento has just opened up next to Grill’d at Rosalie. A friend mentioned to us the food was surprisingly good so we gave it a go - he wasn’t wrong! This is top quality Japanese at very family friendly Rosalie prices. The sashimi was super fresh and even better the restaurant is BYO, so you can grab a bottle of wine at the Bottle Shop right next door. I reckon once word gets out this place will give Moga around the corner a run for its money. Recommend !
Definitely one of my all time favorite restaurants. The atmosphere is excellent and the staff are very nice and professional. Meals are served very promptly, well almost to quickly, as you don’t have time to absorb the wonderful feel of this place. Food is outstanding and I’m never disappointed every time I go. There does seem to be a disparity between the serving sizes on the sashimi platter though, one time I was very pleased and the next time I received a much smaller portion of the same dish. Prices are very fair for the quality.
Excellent and efficient staff. Beautiful Japanese themed restaurant. Our first time to Order the Sukiyaki Package for two people. The meat was succulent and tasty. The broth of the sukiyaki was authentic. One of the male staff was very helpful and his knowledge made our dining experience very pleasant. If you love good Japanese food and great service, this is not a place to miss.⭐⭐⭐
Situated at a corner of a busy street, this Japanese fusion place has good vibes, good food & good service! Service is quick & attentive, atmosphere is chilled & relaxed; whilst the food is generally decent! The tastes here is not of the familiar ones you have at other Japanese restaurants so it’s quite refreshing. They also have a sushi train inside as an option! Dishes that stood out were seared Wagyu Melt & alburi salmon! Their cocktails (any one) were also a highlight! Slight downside is the difficulty in finding parking around the vicinity & that the price point leaned to the higher side for what it’s worth! Would recommend though!
Nice environment and food arrived quickly. I really love the Plum Rose, fresh and a bit sweet. We have ordered the Wagyu Melt, their best seller, which is very tasty. We also ordered the tempura veggie and Sukiyaki set for two. To be honest, the Sukiyaki set is too salty and the quality is average. In general, a nice place to go if you want to have a causal meal.
Yummy sushi, the hand roll sushi is really tasty!
Cozy and relaxing ambiance.
Very good service and attentive staff.
Been here several times. Food is always great. Beautiful presentation but more importantly, delicious.
Will have to try their sushi train one day. If the quality is as good as their a-la-carte menu then it won't disappoint.
Besides the Waiter who "took" our order and actually never did anything resulting in unnecessary wait and a reorder from another waiter. It was a pleasant experience. It is a little on the pricey side with small portions but it was delicious.
