Been here twice and loved it both times, food is great
Japanese lane-way in the heart of Brisbane City.I have been eyeing this place for quite some time… it’s about time to try it out 🔥. First off, I had to try the sizzling steak I love charred corn and spaghetti so it sounded like an incredible combination.Steak was cooked very well to a medium and I settled for pepper sauce to pour all over it, pretty great.I wish I could sub the salad for karaage chicken but a little bit of health is good for me 😋.
Hato restaurant serves great Japanese food and is a great option for lunch if you work in the city. The chicken curry and $1 spring rolls(3 rolls) is what I tried and truly enjoyed it. You get pickle, tofu and some salad along with the curry. Love it...
Took my girls here for lunch today and absolutely loved it. Prices were decent, food was excellent and generously portioned. I had agedashi tofu and Mushroom and Sansai Soba. Both were delicious but this is one of the few places that I have had the agedashi tofu done so well.
My daughters had the Katsu chicken set and the braised pork belly don buri. Both were once again, very generous. The Katsu chicken set came with a lot of wonderful side dishes that really complimented the Katsu chicken and the braised pork belly was tender and flavourful.
The staff were pleasant and helpful. Service was quick (the first dish was brought to us within 5 -10 mins of ordering) even during the busy lunch hour that we were there.
Will definitely be visiting Hato again and I totally will recommend this.
Comfortable restaurant and for dining area, great service and fresh food, a good cook and a nice price of quality. Recommended who like Japanese food, thanks.
Great food and friendly & helpful staff. Really enjoy the experience. Location is great so close to everything. Will recommand to everyone for sure
After my exam around 8pm, I was looking for a place to eat and come across here. Since it’s a cold rainy day, decided to go with a mixed tempura udon. The tempuras were light and goes really well with the udon. I especially enjoy the soup, would definitely come back again
We ordered the Alburi Salmon Don, Kakumi Don and Seafood Gyoza. Have to say this will become one of my favourite places to eat! Their lunch specials come with marinated mushrooms (really flavourful) and some have soup. Mind you that pickle in the Kakumi Don is almost exactly like Hakataya's. Portion was great for lunch, on the bigger side. Ambience of the place is nice, staff were very friendly and nice. Overall it was just a great experience. To top it off, food did not take too long to come out - great for lunch breaks!
My friend and i ordered tempura don and unagi don, both taste very good! The staff are super friendly, nice place and great japanese athmosphere
I was accompanied by several mates when I had dinner at this place recently.
The decor and atmosphere that was provided was very welcoming. The food was full of flavour and presented beautifully.
The staff were very welcoming and friendly which meant that our time here was very enjoyable. This is a great place to bring a few mates to chill and have a few beers. Would come again
Being a regular at Sushi Edo, a couple months ago, I noticed that a new Gyoza bar was in the process of construction next door. Whilst I had made plans to grab dinner at another restaurant before watching Dr Strange yesterday, once I saw that it had opened, I promptly cancelled my plans for the other restaurant, and told my companions that we definitely had to try this new place. Hato, is situated in a little nook in the hallway in 123 Albert St next to Men Ya Go (if we are lucky, this place may develop into the "new" Elizabeth arcade).
Not too bad. A Japanese ramen-udon-ricebowl place run by Chinese. But they got the whole look right. Food was reasonably priced.
We ordered curry fried chicken rice and tempura udon.
Fried chicken curry rice is average. It tastes like what a normal Japanese Curry Rice should taste like.
What disappointed me was the udon broth and udon. Noodles were overcooked and soggy. Broth was tasteless. Lack the umami of a dashi based stock and quite frankly, lack shoyu and other ingredients to make a good clear soup for udon.
Will probably try the other ramen shop just 1 door down, run by Japanese, really soon.
Will I be back? Probably... if the other shops around are closed.
Popped into Hato for a quick dinner on the way home. First time here and we had the Katsu Udon ($15) and Katsu Donburi ($13). I must say it was delicious and thought it was great value for what we got. Service was quick and staff were friendly!
11 July 2022 - Quick lunch that was very satisfying, had the Katsu Donburi ($14 this time).
Went to Japanese restaurant.
There were many variety of Japanese style of meals to chose. I was excited to come here, because I like Japanese set l menus sometimes. I ordered chicken katu set meanu. Chiken katu good as I expected, and soup was asari clear soup, really good! This set menus had with some edamame.
Also pork belly don was very nice, delicious.
Pretty good Japanese restaurant with inside and outside (walkway arcade) seating. I had dumplings and udon noodle soup with accompaniments such as pickled ginger, sea wood and tofu; It all came together well with an excellent Kirin beer for $28. Service is basic and the whole place is ... hmmm functional and good value but not the place for a wedding anniversary dinner.
Nice authentic Japanese eatery. I had the tempura soba. Very well done. Probably chef is Japanese. Price though not so cheap but this is Australia...
Loved our Katsu Udon and Gyoza. Food was fast and tasty. Lovely restaurant with additional seating in the laneway next door.
