Review Artimino Ristorante Italiano - Brisbane

Neil Taylor
Pizza delivered cold. Paid for extras which seemed to replace other toppings and not supplement. The least toppings I've ever had on a pizza with the lot. Gluten free base was damp and rubbery.

Tony, the owner, is a friendly, polite and congenial guy, and he made us feel welcome the moment we arrived at his restaurant. We started the evening with a schooner of refreshing Gt Northern Super Crisp ($8) and a glass of sparkling white wine, at a modest 5 pesos. For entree, we had the arancini balls. They were nice and fluffy with a cheesy filling and a crispy batter. There were four generous balls to the serve. For mains we choose the grilled fish (barramundi) with mash and vegetables, and the spag with meatballs. According to Tony, the meatballs were part beef and part pork, although I’d say pork was the dominant ingredient, so if you’re not a pork lover, avoid this one. Ambience is casual, laid back and relaxed. The interior is dated but it’s colourfully decked out with an interesting bottle display behind the counter and next to that a huge poster of a chubby, cheerful fellow called “Rocky” in a Roman toga, swilling a glass of red wine. Furniture is fairly utilitarian with wooden chairs and tables, but it all works well to create a homely and convivial atmosphere. The perfect place to enjoy an evening out with friends or family. Service from Tony was efficient and fast. Drinks, entree and main meals came out quickly and in the correct order. Tony is clearly a professional and experienced restaurateur and the place hums like a well oiled machine. With our 30% discount for booking via “The Fork”, we paid a reasonable $60 for two drinks, a starter and two mains. With our little Aussie peso spiralling ever downwards towards Lebanese or Venezuelan levels of hyperinflation, that’s good value for money. There’s a single toilet at the back. It’s clean and well provisioned with soap and hand towels, but the door is in need of a lick of paint. I shouldn’t complain though, because this is the only joint on this rather drab and rundown little shopping and eating strip to actually have a toilet. There’s easy street parking just outside the restaurant or anywhere in the near vicinity, where there don’t seem to be any restrictions. Across the road is the well stocked IGA supermarket and the handy Liquorland liquor store. We had a pleasant evening, and it’s worth a visit with the 30% discount deal with “The Fork”. The ambience is relaxed and Tony, the owner, will make you feel welcome. Service is attentive and efficient. There is a single toilet and parking is a breeze.

What can I say? First of all, it's just so nice for a real authentic Italian restaurant to have so many vegan options!! So thanku! There's outdoor tables so you can bring your dogs too! I ate the eggplant parmigiana and oh boy it was so delightful! And such excellent service to top it off. What an attentive and friendly man who served us, making the experience an all round success. We will definitely be back :)

Usually good but I dont think I'll be back. $26 to pick up this gluten free pizza. Pretty sure dominos put more toppings for $8.

The worst service - so disappointing with the price you pay for a meal just to be ignored and forgotten about. This has happened twice now and I thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt as they were busy but turns out they just lack customer service and are rude. Not worth wasting your money or time.

In all my years of visits to Hawken Village I don’t think I’ve stepped foot in La Porchetta once. Finally the day came when I booked via The Fork for a 30% off promotion. We ordered: * pollo e fungi risotto, $23.90 - chicken and mushrooms cooked in a delicate stock * penne beef ragu, $23.90 (main size) - beef simmered in a homemade tomato sauce * kids meal set, $13.90 - choice of main (chicken schnitzel), side (chips), and drink (apple juice), plus one scoop of ice cream The food took about 20 minutes to come out which I thought wasn’t too bad given we were a group of 8. The portions are quite generous and seeing some of the other kids meals with the spaghetti bolognese, I reckon it would have been plenty for an average adult! No surprise our friends ended up taking away a chunk of their kids’ leftovers. Service was warm and friendly. Taste wise I think the food was decent, though wasn't enough to upset the standings on the leaderboard of my existing favourites in this dining precinct.

Very nice little cozy restaurant, good ambiance and clean look. Went there for dessert and coffees ordered Nutella pizza which was a different thing to try and liked it Coffee was good too. Staff was super friendly and received great service from the staff. Upon inquiring I was told that the meat was halal so I will definitely be returning for some food. Saw a few banners for lunch specials that was amazing and affordable too. Would recommend this place

I ordered takeaway from there tonight to help support local hospitality businesses in the time of Coronavirus. I was so disgusted to see the social distancing policy being ignored by the restaurant owner who blatantly would pat people on the back, shake their hands etc. The irony is that it is an Italian restaurant - and Italy is one of the hardest hit countries. I will not be ordering or eating from this restaurant EVER again!

Very average food and WAY overpriced.  <br/><br/>This place would be average at half the price, but when you're charging $12 for bread and $30-$40 for mains in a low-key, suburban restaurant like this - it's just woeful.  We had 3 of our 4 meals that were just terrible - plus pizza that was OK.  The pasta sauce actually tastes like it's out of a jar.  Go to Tocco Italiano down the road, or venture out to Southbank / West End for something much nicer - at a far better price.
TD
Advice: Go to Tocco Italiano in Chelmer instead. <br/>I really want to support this local business and have been a few times, however, the last time the calzone was covered under a mountain of tomato paste to cover up it being completely and utterly burnt to a crisp. Sent it back and to their merit they did let us order something else but the pizza that followed was not enough to save the experience. Slightly under-cooked dough and just nowhere near their competitors down the road. Tocco's pizza is simply so much better and they have greater attention to detail and consistency. Would love for Artimino to up their game.

The BEST Italian restaurant and always be our favourite. They serve the best Tbone steaks and Pizza around this area. Awesome customer service, affordable price, big portion of food so tasty that never disappointed you. We keep coming back to this place in the past year, they deserve every star I can give. I highly suggest anyone who's looking for some real Italian food come and visit this fabulous place in Graceville.

The food was enjoyable and yummy but not spectacular. However, this was perfectly adequate. Serving portions seem to vary; the fettucine meal was a much larger serving than the gnocchi meal. Our table of two spent just under $100 for a dinner meal with one starter, two meals and two drinks (one alcoholic). <br/>The service was quick, friendly and understanding. My partner and I were impressed. <br/>The space inside was small but well laid out and the decor was lovely. In particular, there are some fascinating pictures on the main wall. <br/>Overall, this was a pleasurable and tasty dining experience. I would return to this restaurant.

We have really enjoyed all 3 of our visits here in the last couple of months. Service has been excellent & when dining in they’ll recommend changes to the pasta dishes to accomodate your preferences. BYOW keeps the cost down for eating out. Will be going back soon, no doubt.
Hayley
Ordered take away from here. First time I called it went straight to voicemail; however I called back and it was a 20 minute wait which is reasonable. The service was friendly and the pasta and risotto were lovely. They have a gelato bar out the front; might try dining in next time. Would return here.

Good food and wine, unfortunately waited an hour for our dinner. Worth the visit if you've got oodles of time and aren't hungry when you get there.

Best pizza!! I cannot put into words how good the pizza is - we have ordered the 'al salame toscano bianca' pizza numerous times now and it always lives up to our very high expectations - we would like to try more items on offer but the pizza is so good, we haven't had a chance. Highly recommended!!!
Sally Kuter
This is the second time we have been to Artimino and once again it was a fantastic experience.<br/><br/>Gabe is a knowledgable and entertaining host.  The food is fantastic - if you get a chance ask for morton bay bugs with chili in a white wine and cream sauce.  wow.<br/><br/>The best Italian food I've had in a really long time.
Shannon G
Really lovely night out, the owner is so friendly and accommodating. I had the Scallopini with Porcini and the veal just melted in my mouth. I tried some of my partners Bianco Salami Pizza and that was also very tasty with a lovely homemade pizza base. I recommend the Salted Caramel Gelato for dessert, Bellissimo.

So hard to understand how reviews can be so polarised ! But, unfortunately after our last visit , we are on the negative team , this place is awful, the service is slow , the staff are unhelpful and really don't care , the food is less than ordinary and the guy that owns it is rude and arrogant. To the point where I witnessed his shouting at a customer that dared to complain about the crappy experience.<br/>If your looking for something Italian and don't want to wait hours your better off going to McDonalds and putting tomato sauce on whatever you get , it will taste better than the food here , and the service will be way better.

My husband and I booked a table on a Saturday night for 6:30, we arrived and were seated and ordered our entrée and mains within 10 minutes of being seated. 30 minutes later a server came and asked if we order entree. We told her what we order and 10 minutes later our pizza bread arrived.. Very small potion for $15. We asked how long our mains would be as we had already waited 40 minutes for our entree she said it would be out as soon as we finished our mains and it was. I soon realised my lasagne was still completely cold in the middle so my husband went in to complain. I didn't want my food reheated as I am pregnant and was worried about food safety we just wanted to pay for what we had eaten and leave. The chef/manager became very aggressive with my husband, told him we didn't even have a booking when he himself had taken our booking.. The chef threatened my husband to call the police if he didn't pay some random figure that was more then what we had consume. he then told him that "they were very busy can't he see that". He came out and yelled at me, and would not let me get a word in and then physically grabbed my husband. I told my husband just to pay so we could leave. We ended up paying for what we had consumed and some of our mains even though it wasn't edible. When my husband said we would be leaving a review he was again threatened and told that he would call the police. We may have returned and put the bad quality food down to them being "busy" even though only one table inside had people seated but there customer service is beyond atrocious. Good luck maintaining a client base around here with this attitude towards customers.

2 out of 5. Waiting over 75 minutes for our entree not the biggest problem of the night. It's a good thing we did not arrive super-hungry. The menu was set ($60 each), and we were not informed of this when we made reservations. It included a glass of wine, and the server poured me less than 1/4 serve of wine after we waited about 30 minutes just for wine or to be acknowledged. She corrected the amount she poured when I asked and compared it to my partner's glass. The entree was what seemed like a store-bought flat bread with olive oil and crushed rosemary smeared on it. It was warm when it came to the table. The main was served nearly an hour after the entree. I had veal. It was very tough and greasy. The roasted veggies were average and limp. The panna cotta was lovely. By this dessert, the chef was finished cooking and bounced around the restaurant loudly asking how everything was in a way that was more of a show and less of a genuine question about the quality of the food. It would have been very awkward to actually give feedback at that moment. He did apologies for "a bit of a wait" but blamed it on customers with earlier reservations being late. It was Valentine's Day, and obviously, we were trying to enjoy a quiet and conflict-avoidant meal, but otherwise I would have let him know how unhappy I was. All of this other stuff we could have ignored, but we were charged for corkage. The only reason we even drank some of our wine is because it took sooooooo long. The server did not bring fresh wine glasses, open the wine or pour the wine. Another bad part of the evening was watching meal after meal go to the wrong table by frantic wait staff, often with the server's long hair touching the top of the food. I would have reluctantly paid $50 for all of this, but we were charged $129. Needless to say, we will not return. I regret that I was unable to give this feedback to the chef quietly in person, which I believe is the most ethical way to give feedback. Perhaps seeking feedback in a genuine way would elicit genuine responses from patrons. Even more, look at customer's faces during the evening and notice the unfinished plates. Food was regularly not eaten and people looked annoyed and unhappy the whole time we were there.

This place is crazy!. Made our first visit and our last. Sad thing is the food itself was pretty good - however, the yelling across the restaurant owner who runs from the kitchen to front of house like a mad man, the wait staff with long flowing hair that fluff around without actually providing service wearing gym gear, and the value for money - or lack of, made this a one off experience for us. Sat there a long time, paid alot, and felt we were an inconvenience to them.... An expensive poor local experience - we will not be back.

Great pizza and service. Ordered pizza and calamari. Great price, generous size and fantastic staff.

Didn't try the food. Went to this restaurant. 1 of 4 tables. Got seated, given menus. 20 minutes later, not even a drink order or even a glance from the staff. Got up and left. I don't think they noticed.<br/><br/>The food they were serving to the 1 table looked pretty nice. Too bad we didn't get to try it.
Brad
I am a regular!. I come here a fair bit - mainly for take away Pizza.<br/>I thought I should finally review.<br/><br/>I cannot recommend this place enough. It is simple but the people are great. It has a nice Northern Italian feel. <br/>And the food is great.<br/>The owner goes out of his way to make you feel welcome. It gets busy but the food is worth it.<br/><br/>Pizza bases are as good as it gets too.

Tiramisu. Good homemade tiramisu is delicious and authentic. good portion size too.
Laura
Amazin Italian Restaurant. We ordered Antipasto Artimino for 2 people and Ravioli <br/>All were well seasoned and the taste was unbelievable.<br/>The cost was reasonable considering the 2 glasses of wine between us. <br/>The mains looked good when there were being served to other tables. I had food envy. <br/>I will be back for more

Great Italian food and service - we will definately return. We recommend trying the chef's special. What a great local restaurant.

Disgusting all round. This was without doubt the worst ever dining experience of my 55 years. The service was shocking, the food disgusting and the owner's manners were non existent. I will never set foot in these doors again and neither will any of the party we went with tonight. Absolutely shameful.
Nikki
After hearing many great reviews about this restaurant I had the worst meal ever. The chicken was dry, the pasta tasteless. Many meals coming out cooked incorrectly. The service was horrible. It took over 2 hours to receive our main meals. I would never recommend this restaurant to anybody and I myself would never return. The owner was very hot headed when told about the poor meals and service. A huge disappointment.

Fabulous!. What a great restaurant! The waiter we had this evening was so great - excellent service! Love the fact that the owners are actually Italian - you know the food is going to be genuinely good in that case. Delicious food and the coke even had lemon in it! Such a small thing to get excited over but love it when they put lemon in the coke.. lol. Will definitely be back. Thank you Artimino!
Emma_gundry
Flawless service and food!. The service and food at Artimino is impeccable! My family of 7 dined here tonight for my birthday dinner. I chose Artimino purely on the positive reviews on this website. We were all so happy with the food and our waiter. We will definitely be back! And each of us will be telling our family and friends just how excellent this restaurant is! Thank you for a fantastic evening!

I love this restaurant! Food is amazing and the staff are always so friendly and accommodating!!!! Amazing!

We sat a table of 7 and we very well looked after. our male waiter with long hair was very responsible and professional. we all were served with in 30min and were offered a special entrée sharing plate and it was amazing. I had the porcini risotto and it was one of the best risottos I have had in Australia. from an over chefs perspective. I loved it the flavours were very traditional and were used correctly.

This is our family favourite. We have a small child and it's really child friendly to the point out little one asks to go there as a treat. The owner and staff make us feel very welcome. We have eaten here many times and always have fantastic food and service. Highly recommend.

Take Away Ripoff. My wife ordered the large take away Fettuccine Ragu’ Toscano for $24 assuming it would be large! It was a large take away container with a small amount of fettuccine. There was not enough for one person much less two. We expected it to be similar to the other Italian restaurant in Graceville, it is not. Very disappointing. Now we have to cook some extra food for our selves.

Dinner at Artimino Graceville. Arrived and ordered an entree to share: Formaggi Italiani Speciali (cheese platter with olives) and were told we would need to also order another entree of breads to go with it as it was unsuitable on its own. This we did, and both were of a high quality, except the cheese platter did not contain any olives. Main meals ordered were the Bug Special @ $35 and Bistecca alla Fiorentina @ $40 (t-bone cooked florentine style with garlic roasted potatoes, roasted capsicum and salad). The bugs were good, however the pasta sauce was very plain - a basic tomato sauce. The t-bone arrived solely with chips and lettuce and a few cherry tomatoes. Having ordered the t-bone medium-well it came well on the small side, but was almost rare on the other where most of the meat was. The t-bone had been plain grilled - certainly not in a "Florentine" style and was tough and leathery and had veins coming out of it. There were no roast garlic potatoes and no roast capsicum. The chips tasted a little on the stale side. Total cost $120 included the bread and cheeses, the 2 mains and one glass of wine.

Great place ! People were very friendly. Food was amazing . Bruschetta was to die for.
Nicole
We had dinner here tonight and it was excellent!! The wine was great and the food was amazing! I had the ravioli and I would absolutely recommend it! Definitely give this place a try.
Jade
We were hesitant to eat here because of some of the reviews we read but we are SO glad we decided to give it a shot! The Caprese Salad set the tone of the evening with it's deliciousness. Then we were delighted to tuck into big portions of the Gnocchi Gorgonzola and Nepoletana pizza which were both amazing. Service was very humble and friendly. Normal wait times with a great atmosphere. Would recommend to everyone!
Jo
We ordered takeaway and had the calamari starters and the Quattro Formaggi and Prosciutto e Funghi Pizza. Definitely the best pizza we've had in Brisbane and friendly staff too. Will be back for sure!
Carmen Glanville
Had 2 takeaway pizzas- well priced and good authentic italian. We will be back :D

The bruschetta is to die for. So fresh and dripped in the perfect amount of oil. Main of ragu linguine was not too overpowering and appealed to my palette. Relaxed eating environment. At times service could have improved. My suggestion - give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

Tiramisu. Great night out..........great host<br/><br/><br/>-----27 May, 2013-----<br/><br/>Awesome. Been coming here for a while...great little restaurant. we chose the steak with porchini mushroom sauce and porchini mushroom pasta..amazing.<br/><br/>Good service, good wine. cant stop thinking about that meal. <br/>total cost for with wine, and entree...$105.....cheap

We went to this restaurant last night and it was hands down the best Italian place in Brisbane. The food portions were very generous so much so that we took our main meals home as takeaways. The staff were fantastic and we will definitely be back.

Waste of time.. Not often I have found such a farcical below average restaurant. I'm still baffled how bad it could be.<br/>Walk in, seated at the wrong table. Our fault apparently. Try to get byo bottles into the fridge. Snatched out of our hands. Oops is byo our fault?<br/><br/>Take order............ Lets kill an hour or so..... <br/><br/><br/>Watched people walk out. I should have been one of them. <br/>This restaurant is ridiculously under staffed. But they won't have to worry about clientele for much longer.
Chelae
Italy anyone???. WOW this place is so authentic fresh and full of flavour. If you are nostalgic for home Italian cooking that is fresh out of Nonna's kitchen then you MUST try this restaurant. My family and I have eaten here a few times and it just gets better and better.
Anushka
I couldn't love this restaurant more!. Artimino has now become my new regular place to dine! After spending time in Italy I can recognise good Italian food. Artimino is authentic, all the way to the kitchen. Gabriele is a fantastic chef, his pizza's are buonissmo! Just like they should be! Service is fantastic, food comes out in good time and the music played makes me want to book a ticket to Firenze!<br/>To sum up, Artimino is the best Italian restaurant that i've found in Brisbane.<br/>A must, for an authentic dining experience! Enjoy!
Duncan
It was packed when I went and we had to wait a long time for the courses but the staff were extremely apologetic and the food was worth the wait. Best Italian food I've had in a long time.
Ellie F
After arrival at 7 pm, we ordered at 7:05. Our meal arrived at 8:10. Part of our wait was spent listening to other tables discuss why the kitchen was so slow; kitchen too small, only one chef and one pizza maker. When our meal arrived, our $29 veal was really disappointing. We won't be trying them again.
Janelle
Not thrilled. We have had far better Italian for this price. <br/><br/>Our waiter poured one wine and half-filled the other when the bottle ran out. With no explanation, we weren't sure how to ask for our money's worth. It was five minutes and several other tasks before he came to finish pouring the second glass???<br/><br/>The food was below average. I would have been happier to cook myself. My bland seafood spaghetti included two shrivelled mussels, two chewy pieces of calamari I could not eat, and a whole baby octopus with the texture of a bouncy ball. My partner got ONE piece of meat in his wildboar penne. <br/><br/>We are pretty upset with this, particularly as we had checked Urbanspoon and the good reviews tricked us into giving it a shot. I wouldn't recommend to anyone.
Osaka
Delicious!. Loved Antipasto Fritto di Mare and Brodetto di Pesce.<br/>I like seafood and was not disappointed!

Forza Italia. Friends of ours discovered this place and invited us to come along. It's only a small restaurant and it's nice to go to a place where the owner makes you very welcome and looks after you in the loud and confident manner typical for Italians. <br/><br/>I'm a sucker for salami and cured meat and I loved the generous Antipasti platter which contained a great selection of meats, cheeses and olives. The pasta dishes were all full of flavours and we had a great time. <br/><br/>We will certainly be back for more.
Jules
Our favourite restaurant. We love artiminos , my partner and I often take off from work or on any special occasion to enjoy a beautiful meal and a warm personal welcome from Gabe. Food never fails to be delicious and makes you want to visit or re-visit Italy. All the food is cooked personally and with passion and heart, all that is left up to you is to enjoy the food leisurely and as it should be, never a rushed affair, true Italian style :).
S.pitt
Disappointed. Very disappointed. Food was very average. I had previously heard that artimo was not that great but had recently heard that it was really good and worth trying. Not the case. I'd rate it a 5/10. I thought that it was far from authentic italian and had been toned down for the suburbs. No specials explained upon arrival. Had I known, I may have ordered something different. Caprese salad was bland and lacked tomato and flavour in general. For the main, I struggled to search for the flavours of porcini and truffle oil which had been promised in the dish that' ihad ordered. In all honesty, my own cooking is much more flavoursome and authentic than this. I'm a good cook, and always expect something more than i can do myself at home when I eat out. Not this time. Feedback was provided but brushed off. It's a shame as feedback can always be used as a means of improving. We wont be back.

What a fantastic restaurant. So good to see a great husband and wife run restaurant that has the perfect mix of great food, great environment and great prices. Highly recommend it.

Best Italian in Brisbane. We have been to Artimino twice now and the food is perfect. If you want to have a truly authentic Italian meal with the best service form the owners Gabriele and Carly then this is the only place to go. Both times we have left feeling happy, relaxed and raving about the food. We will be back again soon.
Marcus Priest
Best Italian restaurant in Brisbane. Don't believe the bad reviews. As authentic as it gets.
Soup Nazi
I went here late last night already in a bad mood and not expecting much after reading some of these reviews and never really been to an Italian restaurant I liked. What I got was a warm welcome with great food. I will be returning
Annette
Authentic Italian. I loved this Restaurant. It is the closest thing to Italy that I have come accross in Brisbane. The food was great..best Bruschetta I have ever had. Combine this with the personality of the host and you feel like your are in Milan! .
Gen
Very poor. The meal and service were extremely disappointing. We waited 1&1/2 hours for a main meal and when it arrived 2 of the 4 meals were inedible. When we tried to return the 2 meals, the owner said "they were up to the standard"! No apology was provided or suggested. Overall, McDonald's takeaway would have been preferable.
Jen
Pure Italian - amazing (very italian) food and so friendly. just had my fiancés suprise 21st here for Sunday lunch. We had a great day and Gabrielle (owner) made the day for us, he kept everyone well looked after and laughing at his bold Italian ways.
Will
Try the gnocchi special. The best!! Filled me just enough to leave room for the incredible tiramsu. Many thks, I'll be back!

Best Italian food in Brisbane!!!. Artimino is easily the best Italian restaurant in Brisbane!<br/><br/>The food is excellent. The Pizzas are the best I have ever tasted in Australia. The home made Tiramisu is to die for. Please do not leave this restaurant without trying this mind blowing piece of indulgence!<br/><br/>The atmosphere is fantastic and makes you fall in love (again) with Italy. The owner is a real funny character which makes the experience all the more authentic and joyful.<br/><br/>Highly recommend this place!

Horrible service and horrible food! When calling to make a booking I was chastised by the waitress for asking for a table at 7.30 on a saturday (?!). I arrived earlier than my date and once seated was TOTALLY ignored by the waitress until he arrived, at which time she obliged to serve me. Sexist much? The food was such a letdown - the veal was skimpy and covered in a sauce I believe was 99% dishwater. Like other reviewers I noted that ?regulars got more food and better service. Do not bother with here!

Cibo squisito. I am in italy , i am in love, when i go to this ristorante!! the front of house Gabriel, is a burst of light and comfort in greeting. i love how he makes us feel, molto italiano!<br/>if you ever go to this restraunt you MUST, AND I MEAN MUST have the shared antipaso platter, i warn you ..it is huge!!<br/>the only let down i had was the ( dont get me wrong it was delicious) the special linguini with bugs ,chilli and garlic,, i only got 1 bug!! it was a huge serving of beautiful pasta, but for $30 i did expect more than 1 bug. i enjoyed the food and service so much i didnt have the heart to say anything. i just wouldnt order it again unfortunatley as i feel it was a little too expensive for what i got.<br/>All that aside we have been back a few times and will continue to return , especially for that antipasto platter!!...<br/>xxx

Mr Cox. We visited Artimino in Graceville (a so called restaurant) tonight for the first and last time. We arrived at 7.20pm and had our order taken at 7.40pm. We ordered bread as a starter to be followed by a main meal. At 8.15 the bread was no where to be seen, staff walked past unaware of our blank table while the so called maître d' / owner (covered in tattoos) swaned around and made small talk with other customers. During this time other patrons (who had arrived after us) had their meals on the table. Finally, at 8.20 when the bread arrived (delivered by the so called maître d') we commented on the poor service to which he added "don't complain we are busy". "If you don't like it leave". Which we did.
Jess
Great Food, Slow Service. We went to Artimino on a Saturday and obviously being a Saturday, it was very busy! It took 20 minutes for our order to be taken and we had to ask for that to happen. I ordered a coke and didn't receive it until I asked for it a second time. The service was extremely slow and having been open for a few weeks, they should have known that by now. This was the only downfall. The food was absolutely amazing! The bruschetta had to be the best bruschetta I've tasted in a long time!! I noticed someone commented about the mussels, I'm not a mussel eater but these were the exception. The chilli and tomato sauce was fantastic! I will no doubt be going back there again but hopefully they will have hired more staff by then.

50/50 on this one.. Please note this review is for a first time visit that happened a couple months back when the ristorante was open for about 4 weeks. <br/>2 takeaway pizzas were ordered. <br/>Food was ok at best, topping was a bit bland, the rocket on the pizza was a bit tasteless, no bitter grab to it. Also the prosciutto did not seem to inspire us. The bases were also quite soggy. <br/>In saying that they were dressed as an Italian pizza should be. The ingredients need some work.<br/><br/>Phone order the pizza. <br/>Turn up to collect 5 minutes after the allotted time. <br/>Stood at the front counter directly in front of the person who took the order, man with heavy accent. <br/>Waited, waited, waited. <br/>I was just wishing for some form of recognition from the person that I was in fact standing there. Not even a "hello I'll be with you in a minute"...nothing.<br/>5 Minutes I stood there for. <br/>I started a countdown in my mind, 30 seconds and I'll walk. <br/>10 seconds left to go and he decides that he has a spare second to deal with me. <br/>All the time I waited, he was in front of me, not a sliver of recognition. <br/>When he did talk to me, I gave my name and what I ordered. He then went to the kitchen and came back. <br/>"Your pizza will be ready in 5 minutes, it's nearly ready sir". <br/>HUH? Ok, some places run over time on certain things I understand, if you are eating in it's not so much a problem but they gave me a specific time over the phone, if they knew they were running late TELL ME. Do not expect me to turn up to collect a meal and be told that I now need to wait more time, tell me this on the phone before I leave. <br/>I spoke to a gentleman next to me who was waiting for a takeaway pasta. <br/>He had ordered his over the phone, when he arrived there he was told that they had none of the pasta left of that particular variety and if he could choose another. <br/>He looked at me, I looked at him and we exchanged words on the way we thought a business should be run. <br/>Tell the client before he gets there that his selection of pasta is not available, NOT AFTER he comes to collect it. If I were him, I would have walked out. <br/>I'll give them one more go, mostly due to the positive reviews on this site. They may have been having a bad day, but oh, oh if this happens to me again. I'll make sure I tell as many people as I can. <br/>Get your act together. Learn how to communicate bad news to people, we don't mind as long as we know beforehand. <br/>Oh and to the bloke at the front counter, lose the attitude.

Edel. The food was extremely bland and flavourless, i had the prawns as entree and it needed something else in the dish for texture.. the veal was extremely tuff yes TUFF veal is 1 of the dishes you can really expect not to be tuff it also was very tasteless, my partners meal was really bad as well and then to top it off when i went to pay the owner was at at the till and asked me how my meal was i tried to give fair and real feedback but he was more interested in counting the money in the till he was not even able to look me in the eye.. The best thing about this dining experience was the wine which i brought myself and the waitress was a very nice unlike the owners who in my opinion ware only interested in your money so please don't waste yours like i did with mine

Magnifico! Bravo.... A fantastic place, with wonderful authentic food which is obviously freshly made. The experience is genuine and the owners are enthusiastic and you can clearly see that they want you to enjoy yourself while you're there. And yes they do ask if you enjoyed your meal. Too many restuarants are about fussy "lean cuisine" style meals which are concocted out of eclectic combinations of ingredients somewhat akin to a cross between a science experiment and an American teenagers sandwich. This isn't one of those places. So you probably won't find any Eagle Street fatcats dining on their corporate expense accounts trying to impress someone they barely know but need to schmooze up to. You'll find groups of good friends and families having a night out and a good meal. Will we go back?.... of course we do most weeks. Why do we go back, because you can tell that they care, and you can see that they are doing the best they possibly can. And because it's good.

We will be back!. What a refreshing change at Artimino after experiencing a number of Italian restaurants in Brisbane (& Rome) with average quality and microwaved meals, . The freshness and variety of the antipasto and my selection of the homemade pasta with wild boar was delicious and as good as I had enjoyed in Florence.<br/>We dined on a busy mid-week night though clear all our meals were freshly prepared. The restaurant had a great buzz and feel of that real Italian family restaurant. Great Italian at reasonable prices- we will be back!

Excellent Italian. We have dined at Artimino's a couple of times since it opened. Being a new restaurant it is still finding its feet in some areas but the meals are delizioso and the staff unfailingly friendly. The restaurant has grown in popularity over the last few months and it is advisable to book even during the week or you may be disappointed. This growth in popularity is testament to the quality of the food and the enthusiasm of the staff. The tiramisu is the best I have ever tasted in Brisbane and not to be missed!

Food was so bland, chef was obnoxious, service slow, cost far too expensive - my advice is save your money -we wasted ours!!
