Review Stomp Espresso - Brisbane

Shea Trattler
Place seems to be going downhill. The outdoor area was a mess on a Saturday morning. The service can be best described as ‘indifferent’ on the last two times I was here. Doesn’t look like they are doing a cooked breakfast anymore. Just coffee and stuff from the cabinet. Coffee was pretty good, so I guess it’s just a hole-in-the-wall takeaway coffee joint these days.

Friendly, fast and fresh.......I got a caramel cappuccino and a bacon / egg muffin. Coffee was delicious and the muffin was excellent, very fresh ingredients.....Cafe Stomp has ruined McDonalds McMuffins for me, going forward...... Stomp also employs all the necessary Covid precautions (Check In QLD QR Code, all staff wearing masks, hand sanitiser for customers...and Covid compliant seating for those dining). Great work guys.

The coffee is very good, but unfortunately every time I was there, the staff was not very welcoming and involved. Once even a person who ordered coffee after me, picked the coffee first, and the staff didn't even react. You should be more customer oriented.

I gave a 5 star review 2 years ago but since it’s changed hands it had gone downhill like a ski slope the past year…unwelcoming staff that can’t wait to get the chairs on the tables to pack up early…just chalk and cheese from how it used to be. Hoping for the new owner’s sake that they shake things big style.

Super disappointed this morning to find the single employee shutting early, and was told they were purposefully understaffed and the poor barista wasn't told no one else would be in to help. Looks like she was run off her feet working all alone, absolutely shameful business practice to not at least tell her she'd be working alone 😠
Jade Trautner
Always understaffed, coffee is inconsistent, always a really long wait on coffee orders, also staff generally (some) have a bad attitude. Owners needs to employ more staff, might help moral and service.

Excellent place! Great coffee, awesome food and the most WONDERFUL friendly staff ever!!

2022: when Sonja sold and moved south, the quality dropped immediately as most of the staff also left. Some of the food is still good and it’s still only a couple of minutes walk but do yourself a favour and go to Swich or Wilbur’s if you’re in the area or head to Oats and Sky if you like the old Stomp. It is owned by Nadia who used to be the barista at Stomp. 2015: Great coffee (obviously the most important point), uncluttered and delicious menu, friendly staff and I’d give them a sixth star for only being a couple of minutes walk from my house)

Return visit to Stomp after a few years. As usual the coffee & service were great. Ordered my double shot flat white & the flavours were all there in abundance

The visit of Big Jim last week reminds me to re-visit this cafe as it just located a couple of shops away.
Arrived early at 7:00am and there was already a queue for take away orders. Service remains friendly and proficient.
I have missed the Bear Bone coffee for a while and the flat white that I had made me very satisfied. Croissant with ham and cheese was freshly prepared. If it was not toasted, a higher mark would be deserved.
Previous rating: Sep 2019 4/5; May 2018 3/5

Loved the breakfast I ordered at Stomp Espresso! I had the hummus on toast and my partner and the muesli. We loved the style of this cafe right near some good walking paths. The service was fast and friendly plus the cafe is dog friendly.

Lovely little coffee place around the corner from my place. Great for a quick bite and a nice coffee. They do a nice banana bread. Only wish they had more food options but I guess it’s not bad considering they don’t have a kitchen.

The best coffee in the Holland Park area. Quick, very friendly service. Simple but delicious menu items. Have been coming here for years - they make you feel like you're part of the family.

What a wonderful first experience at Stomp Expresso, I always drive past this place but today got to experience the great cafe this place is. From when I first walked in I was greeted with around 5 cheerful, friendly staff and the food came out quite quick. I got the breakfast burrito with the fully loaded avocado on toast, everything from the haloumi to the toast was perfection. I will definitely be returning.

I did not appreciate the loud tone and yelling that was from the chef last weekend, he seems very aggressive to the staff as well. Would not recommend sitting inside again.

Friendly staff. A simple menu that doesn't try to be everything. Coffee is good as well as the music selection. Well worth braving (ex) cyclone debbie's torrential rain on the day

I would like to give Stomp a higher score because their coffee is delicious - probably my favourite in Brisbane - however I avoid going here now as their customer service is wooful and the general cleanliness is lacking. My husband couldn't find a clean glass, in a stack of about twenty, to pour our water into and the bottle was dirty as well. We used to go here everyday and as a previous reviewer mentioned you are just met with a blank stare from behind the counter like they've never seen you before. We have also been overcharged on numerous occasions.

Hit up Stomp recently! What a little fun quirky establishment and might I just add cute quirky staff to go along with the delish coffees. One barista tall good looking brown haired girl had the coolest socks. Where do you find quality staff like that. In the local area. Will definitely return.

Nice location and relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The coffee is excellent and although we haven't had many of the food items on the menu, what we have had was simple, enjoyable and satisfying. The staff are excellent and obviously have a passion for their local area and customers. If this was closer to our house we would be fixtures in the place.

Was not expecting a hipster coffee shop when I went here. I felt like the odd one out for not having a beard, slick hair cut or ironic 90's jumper. But if you want a good cup of coffee, best to get a 20something year old sporting a moustache & rocking a Bill Cosby jumper to make it for you.

Update: I have had everything on their menu and love it. Best place to get a feed and coffee.

9 out of 10, only dropped a point cause I can't grow an hipster moustache like they can.

Update número duo:
I tell ya, you guys are good. I have zero affiliation with you. But every time I get a bagel and coffee (or in this case, a cold pressed juice) it's super doper awesome. Thanks you nose ring girl and other lovely lady behind the counter.

I drive past Stomp Espresso every day and I finally managed to stop in for breakfast. The housemade granola was delicious and hubby was very happy with his Savoury Mince. The cafe is kid and pet friendly and a great spot for a quick coffee or a meal.

Went for breakfast, today, I drive past every morning and think I should pop in. Such a good idea to do so. Great food, I had the savoury mince and it was perfect, coffee was great and service excellent.
Used to really love this place but am finding it hard to continue spending my hard earned money there. The owner has no personality and the staff treat you like they are seeing you for the first time even if it's the 100th. A little bit of personalised customer service wouldn't go astray. I hate feeling like a stranger and an inconvenience at a cafe I spend $30 at every week! Food is variable depending on who makes it.

Edit: one of the current employees seriously needs some schooling in customer service. The delightful young lady greeted me with a "what do you want" and the whole ordering exchange was painful. Once I was seated she proceeded to sing at the top of her lungs which resulted in all customers in the shop stopping what they were doing to see what on earth the noise was about. Finally, all customers then had to endure a conversation between her and the barrista about whether or not he preferred her with a nose ring or a nose stud - seriously!!!!! The owner needs be more vigilant about ensuring ALL staff are providing the same level of customer service. I get that you want to promote the alternate/hipster vibe but that shouldn't be at the cost of what your business is about at its core ie good customer service.

Delicious coffee and cold press. They use Bonsoy (yessss!) Great selection of sweets and savoury items in the cabinet, options for special dietary requirements too. Nice staff and quick service. Yum!

Coffee was really good, cool atmosphere in a convenient location. The pre-made bacon & egg muffin, and the bacon & egg turkish were a bit dry and bland. I'm sure there are nicer menu items. Opening at 5:30am is convenient for that early morning caffeine fix before heading off in a trip.

Rude staff. Ordered my coffee. Renne served with lot of attitude. Rude wont go there again!!

Attitude. Good coffee but the staff were annoying - I'm hoping it was just an off day.

Great coffee. I went there because it was ranked well, and it didn't disappoint! Great staff, great coffee!

Brilliant coffee always but today I tried an onion bagel with avocado and it was just superb

Amazing coffee, wow! Next time I'll be trying the food

Great Coffee. Went this morning for the first time to grab a coffee. The coffee had great flavour and came out very quick! Will definitely be back!

Best coffee & avocado/feta/dukkah toast in Brisbane. If you're searching for Brisbane's best healthy avo/feta/dukkah toast combination and coffee, this is the place for you. Coffee is smooth, rich and fresh. Stomp use delicious & fresh Veneziano coffee beans. As a regular customer, I've never had a bad coffee here. Gluten free options available. Offer almond milk, soy milk, Zymil milk and regular cow milk options. Plenty of cakes, cold brew drinks, soft drinks and assorted breakfast options.

Good Breakfasts. Went with the family here a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it. The coffee was very good and the smashed avocado on sourdough and the brekkie burritos were very tasty. Very small eating areas and full to the brim when we went. Took a while to get a table but worth the wait. Good service from the staff was a pleasant surprise. Recommend.

Favourite cafe in Brisbane. I live locally and this is probably the best coffee I have ever had. I get the avocado, feta and dukkah on sourdough almost every morning and its absolutely divine. Really nice people working there and easy parking. Love this place. I am keeping you guys in business for sure!!

Stomp - Holland Park, Brisbane. A postage-stamp sized espresso bar - like many around this nape of the woods - Stomp Espresso has gained well-deserved popularity with the local residents. Getting the far, open end of a shopping junction near Coorparoo it has al fresco tables and a walk-through window along with some limited seating inside. For those who live within a block from this place, it must be lovely escapism.

On a whim, I went out for a quick breakfast with my brother-in-law to this place. I had had a coffee from here before but had yet to do a review, and it was close by so this was the perfect place. They open early and were already buzzing with many people from various walks of life - from parents with young kids to police officers.

It has a post-modern feel to it, with slight artworks around the place and reading materials. Service is lovely and good for a quick bite. Stomp is a simple place for a non-confronting dining experience.

The menu here is fairly conservative but not boring; don't expect big fry-ups but more so sweets and sandwich-esque items for breakfast. Fear-not, there is a good coffee selection here. I had two coffees while I was here - a double cappuccino (in a mug) and a lattte; both of these were really good and strong with the latte being more aromatic and the cappuccino very good and frothy. If only for a coffee this place is worth a go.
However, I cannot review a place on just a coffee if they do much more than coffee. Here, I got a breakfast burrito and my brother-in-law got a bacon & egg muffin. Both were wholesome and filling.
The burrito was filled with scrambled egg, bacon, tomato and red onion. It was crisped up on the sandwich maker and was a good little snack. As for the bacon & egg muffin is also good, the egg was over hard and the amount of bacon they use is pretty generous. Also good.

Before heading off, we split a orange and cranberry cake. It had the flavours quite distinctly and bits of cranberries throughout the batter. This was a good and light end to a meal while still having the needed sweetness finisher.

This place is worth going to for a quick bite. Some lovely and inviting service in a suburban setting.

Stomp to the Top. Super place, great coffee, great sandwiches, busy little place but all the care taken to make you feel welcome.
Amanda
Great spot!. Nice coffee, great chicken panini and friendly staff.

Great coffee and great service. Don't get a milkshake here though...small and over priced.

Early Closing Time. Was keen to try this 'gem'; rocked up for lunch at 1:30 only to find they were closing?? Come on guys give a new arrival a break!

Local and love it. Regular customer... probably come about twice a week for coffee or tea. Lovely feel to this place. Staff are very friendly. Always get excellent service and drinks. A lot of thought has been put into every aspect of this place. Note that this is not really a cafe as such, they serve some food (muffins, pre-made wraps, etc) but the focus is on the coffee. We always prefer to sit outside if we can, though inside is very nice too.

When I lived in Holland Park, I was excited to see this place open. Would grab a coffee to go & a Butterscotch muffin as I set out on my morning commute. GREAT COFFEE! The service was always tops, the muffins usually fresh, and would pick up fresh coffee beans for my home coffee! Miss the place since I don't live close anymore. Highly recommended! Be sure to have cash if you visit as they do not have EFTPOS.

Awesome coffee, friendly staff, thank god for some good coffee in the suburbs!!!

Friendly, relaxed, excellent service all topped off with excellent coffee. I have a lot of business meetings south of the river and it's great to have a good alternative to the usual franchises. If you need a quiet corner they wil happily clear a space for you. Highly recommended.

It was a simple breakfast and it certainly didn't disappoint. The avocado was just ripe and the homemade hommus blends perfectly.

Stomp is fast becoming my favorite cafe. It's near impossible to get into my 'regular' books since I'm constantly trying new places but since I've been to Stomp 3 times in about as many weeks, I would say this is as close to my regular cafe as any. East-siders rejoice!
