Best coffee in New Farm! And $3.50 for a small! The toast and eggs is also excellent. A really nice break from the bustle of the rest of James St.
We walked the length of james street looking for a puppy friendly cafe for breakfast that had decent food. After being either rejected or put off by boring menus, and tired of “chia pudding”, we found little pantry. Good strong tea, newspapers, friendly service.
Delicious food with a great spot to sit and people watch. The staff are always friendly and approachable, and don't judge when you order extra hollandaise on the side, bonus 😉
Delicious food and superb coffee, wasn't busy for a Saturday morning which might put some people off but the staff were amazing and friendly. Coffee took some time to come even after food but again it was a Saturday morning so to be expected.
My favourite breakfast spot. The food is great and the people are better, always packed and always enjoyable. Personal recommendation is the avo on toast.
The food is ok, the coffee is pretty great but the main reason I go back here is because of the barista! She is amazing, so bubbly and forever friendly no matter what part of the day it is. She makes a great coffee and gives me that "feel good" vibe for the rest of the day!
A nice little spot for brunch. The food was ok (one poached egg was nice and runny the other was hard boiled) but the coffee was the stand out here.
My favorite place to eat breakfast!
Have tried almost all the dishes, and every one I love. Great coffee too!!
Would highly recommend the Pantry eggs if you love savory, and the sweet stack if you love sweet!
The food is homely and delicious. There's nothing overly complicated or technical, it's just simple things done well. Probably the best cooked bacon I've not made myself. Other reviews are right - it is a tad overpriced, but not surprising given the proximity to the James Street precinct. Can recommend.
Excellent food. Servings are not too big not too small, but just right (and I'm a huge breakfast fan). Pantry Breakfast with bacon is my definite favourite. Almond milk they use is delish... Baked goods and cakes in the display window look good (I dare say my hips can't afford that much goodness). My breakfast favourite.
We enjoyed the food at "Little Pantry". We found the service excellent too. Breakfast choices arrived in a timely manner. Overall a very positive experience.
Definitely worth a shot if you're in the area. Food was quite decent. As a coffee snob, I certainly approve of their baristas.

I came in yesterday for breakfast... the staff were so friendly and created a fun/happy atmosphere - coffee was delicious! breakfast on the other hand was slow and below standard for the price I paid. $13.50 for a bacon and egg sandwich that received no care on presentation and took 40mins to come out - wasn't impressed. My friend had the pantry eggs and once again presentation was lacking, relish had oozed around the plate, haloumi was like mush and the poached eggs were so wet and vinegary it had soaked through onto the Turkish toast. Giant mess. Come for the coffee and witty banter with the staff. don't bother picking up the menu.
Great Customer service. Had a lazy Sunday brunch at Little Pantry this morning. Decent food, and great customer service. After being told my breakfast burrito couldn't be done without beans, they happily refunded my money, and redid the burrito as part of a breakfast stack. Thanks guys.
Would recommend! Good service and food was delicious and prices are not too exxy for how good quality it is.
I was on mission to get French toast... I'd been thwarted at four different cafés by crowds and in one case bad service - this place saved my bacon ( not literally, but I'm sure if I'd asked for bacon and maple syrup on the side they wouldn't have screwed up their noses, rolled their eyes and said " no we have no bacon." Yes, Ponycat cafe I'm looking at you) Yes there was a wait, but the wZit staff told me as soon as I walked in the door and gave me the option to keep walking if I wanted. I chose to wait and glad I did - Prewarned about the wait, I ordered two coffees and the barista made sure they arrived at my table reasonably spaced, and to make up for the delay - sent me another free. Nice work ! My French toast was AMAZING and the cinnamon sauce was so good I was tempted to lick the plate....public opprobrium be damned ! Service was good in the face of an obviously busy day ( function for 30 people in back room ) and food was GREAT !
Love love!. This is my fave place in Newstead / Valley area for breakfast. The staff are lovely and the food is amazing.
This place keeps on improving!!! Much larger variety on the menu now than before and the quality of food is great. Awesome breakfast today - really glad this place is our local!!!
Have been to this place more times than I can remember now. The food has always been great and have no complaints at all about it. The staff are friendly. It is over priced for what you get but it's pretty much expected being in James St.
No complaints. Coffee is good, eggs bene delicious (and also the AM burrito). The service was very quick but at 8am on a Sunday morning they were pretty quiet. It's not cheap but the serving sizes are generous. I would come back here again.
Undecided. I have eaten here on many occasions and I have always found the food and service to be good but I went there with my wife last weekend and the service was less than great. The male staff member although he was pleasant he didn't have a clue. He messed up the orders and delivered food to the wrong table.
I like the fact that you can take your dog and I will probably give it another go but try and avoid ordering with that particular staff member.
Surprised by the low rating on this place (59%) at time of writing; I find the food and coffee here better than average of the local offerings. Can be a little understaffed at times though.
I stopped here for Sunday brunch and got a cappuccino and chicken stack. My expectations were exceeded! The guy that delivered the coffee said it was his signature cappuccino and he had put a lot of effort into decorating the top. I was impressed. I will definitely come here again.
Yum. Coffee here is scrummy
Delicious breakfast food, friendly staff and great coffee in a cute location. What more could you ask for?
Best vegetarian risotto and lovely relaxed vibe. I think there was a change of owner a few months ago and it definitely shows! It is much better now :-)
Sunday morning breakfast here was nice and relaxed. My Pantry Eggs meal arrived super quick. Coffee took longer, but the cafe's setting is relaxed enough that it didn't bother me. I like that this cafe encourages one to linger, rather than feeling pressured to eat & leave like other New Farm cafes tend to make me feel. The food is good, but overly pricey, I think. The coffee was great, and I particularly loved the choc-coated coffee bean that it came with. Nice way to complete a leisurely Sunday brekkie & coffee :)
Another cute one. I was a bit scared off after reading many non-encouraging comments. I went there as it was a public holiday and not many places were open sort of late. Coffee was not my favorite, but I have never liked Di Bella, so it is OK. The selection of cake is extensive, so if you have a sweet tooth, this place is like a heaven. Service was pleasant and the atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming. A good place to spend a lazy afternoon surrounded by lots of books, but I really hate the crow hung from the ceiling! That is a bit spooky!
BETTER THAN EVER. I have removed my previous post which was quite harsh but I feel deserved at that time. After reading a few of the newer reviews we gave this place another try and it has completely redeemed itself. The new area out back looks fantastic and the food is back to amazing! Me and my boyfriend had the big breakfasts and It was honestly one of the best I've ever had. That sourdough is amazing the eggs were perfect! I will definatley be coming back here. The staff were really friendly and the atmosphere is perfect for spending a lazy Sunday morning. I hope others who have had a bad experience give this place another go because you won't be dissapointed.
Top Notch. The coffee is amazing!! Food great!! service excellent!!!
The new managment has got this place rocking and also they will be opening the new back area for dinning which i am looking forward to.
Would recomend The Little Pantry To Anyone!!
I had breakfast with my husband on Saturday. Coffee was good and food was good. Service was also good. We both are keen to go back.
Oh your soy chai latte's are just so yummy. I find it hard to walk past without dropping in. You are becoming a waist increasing but necessary part of my day. Evil you!!
FANTASTIC. Food here is excellent and extremely generous portions (almost too big). Had the two poached eggs cooked to perfection, home made tomato relish full of flavour, top quality smoked salmon and large serving of tasty ripe avocado all served with delicious turkish bread. Coffee was also spot on and I love the decor and feel of the place. Service was friendly and quite prompt. Will go back again and again and would advise anyone to do the same!!
Walked down to New Farm on Sunday morning with Sonja and discovered Little Pantry, Shop 1/92 James Street, New Farm . Warm and friendly staff, beautiful surroundings: books, bird cages housing the lighting, a stuffed blackbird, bouquets of flowers and old world couch that we lounged on. Most importantly rich hot coffee in mugs and tasty treats. Sonja and I had large flat whites, I had a decadent piece of banoffee pie and Sonja had a slice (Australians don't seem to understand the Kiwi obsession of the combination of sweet cake with a side of yoghurt). Their eggs bene looked amazing, will most definitely be back to try it in the near future. Recommend to all

Just far enough away from the mad rush of the shopping end of James Street, Little Pantry is a locals' oasis. It's full of the good things in life - organic milk and bread - with a blackboard menu that offers much to ponder.
Nice little place serving up Brekkie, Brunch & Lunches that can be made to order. Popular with locals, this place can get busy during the weekend, so be prepared for a wait. Prices are average for the area, but service is good.
I stumbled on this amazing cafe in New Farm, named Little Pantry.
Looked inviting so I ordered a sit down coffee, which is better for the environment.
Now that coffee was something else!.
So smooth and rich.
They tell me that they use Bear Bones coffee beans.
From the wide variety menu I settled on my favourite, carrot cake with a creme cheese icing. You guys will do anything to keep me coming back. Wow it was amazing.
It was so relaxing just sitting outside and watching the world go by knowing that this would certainly not be my last time that I would indulge in this decadence.
Coming from a hospitality background I feel that I should do the right thing and give this little gem of a place a rating.
For the record I would give this 5 stars, and well deserved.
I just found my new local.
Great little place. Always good coffee, always friendly staff.
small little unassuming place but is a delight every time i have come here. the coffee is delicious and smooth and i haven’t tried most of the menu as have i only had the breakfast tacos, but my word, its good.
Keep up the good work.
My favourite stop for a brekkie 😛 with a casual and relax atmosphere! I love the Pantry Eggs with salmon! And the coffee always hits the spot. It’s always good to see the puppies around as it’s a dog friendly cafe
really great value meals that are super tasty. friendly staff and good coffee. the pavement outside is very uneven so our coffees spilt everywhere so just be mindful of that.
