Have had this cafe bookmarked for so long now & finally managed to visit the other day for coffee. Couldn't believe how busy it was as we searched for a table. The lunch queue was very long with regulars going for the freshly prepared rolls & sandwiches. They did indeed look fresh & they were certainly piled high with fillings of choice. Our coffee's were prepared very quickly & I was skeptical with regards to the resulting brew, however all was well, our Allpress coffee tasted amazing, even came with a sample brownie
I often grab a salad or wrap on the go from here but hubby came to visit for lunch so I sat down and we had burgers and beers. Hubby had the Sparrow and I had the Finch. His was beef, egg, bacon, beetroot, lettuce, tomato and cheese. Mine was beef, lettuce, tomato cheese, jalapeños and hot chilli sauce. I loved mine, beef was medium and so juicy. Hubbies egg was overdone and the burger was huge but he enjoyed it. The service here is really friendly even when busy. Great lunch spot.
Business rush hour, but on a Thursday, in the so called banking precinct of Brisbane city centre, on the other side of the River from South Bank. We just followed the trail of office workers and the presence of banking corporate offices. Then we entered a fresh looking interior, with outdoors visible to Adelaide Street, and felt the vibes of people seeking a quick pick me up or slow business lunch. The wait space was like a long corridor, Creek Street Corner outside was more of a lane and the ambiance is light and airy but with a buzz. We chose a table on the pavement under stand up foldable umbrellas but with protection from the road traffic. The menu is a balance of practicality, so called more healthy and office crowd favourites. Yoghurt, pasta, wraps and Mediterranean salads are offered along side burgers, steaks, Parmigianas, sandwiches, chips and calamari. Much of the food is already prepared before hand and laid out in warmed containers in the long glass display. My group of four adults and an infant had the pasta, curry and pizza. Brisbane is a city that does not get into your face, like the brash courier cyclists, self-obsessed middle aged men in suits and the obvious lack of infrastructure causing crowds you find in the Big Smoke of Sydney. Even in a business hub of town I found it relaxing, although the staff at S & F were caught up in the lunch hour rush.It is obvious that the place opens late to pamper and relieve the office and corporate workers as the week moves on. The facade at the entrance is already corporate like, with a deeper yellow colour to further entice us in. The dishes we had were acceptable in standard but again, I could not expect much further than this as the kitchen churned out food on the go. Maybe I should return in the evenings and see if the dining lifts up above the daytime rush. The dark wall colours and layout does suggest attempts to create a more upmarket eatery and drinking hole. It is likely its location is also its advantage, a stop along a crawl for half suited office crowds to recover or celebrate after the day's events at the office.Sparrow & Finch visited is located at 100 Creek Street Corner, Adelaide Street, Brisbane Queensland.Opening hours are from 630am to 5pm on Mondays and Tuesdays; from 630am to 9pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays; and from 630am to midnight on Fridays. Closed on weekends.Contact +617 3236 5353
I can always count on Sparrow & Finch for a tasty and healthy lunch throughout the week! I stopped by to get my usual, grilled chicken wrap with a variety of salad. They have a wide range of fresh salads, spreads and sauces to choose from for a healthy wrap. Very reasonably priced!
Been here a couple of times, the service is pretty good except for the fact that if you stop for a drink after 8pm on a Friday and order a side of Buffalo wings with it, get ready to be disappointed. To put it in simple words, they were insipid and bland. And the quatity was lesser than what you usually get.
Fresh and fast!. I have tried breakfast lunch and dinner here and have to say it is my favourite place to eat near my work. All the food is prepared the same day (not always the case in this area!) and the flavours are great especially the salads there is always a hot option for lunch also and everything comes out very quickly. Staff remember your coffee and name after only a few times too. Only downside would be it can be hard to get a table if you don't want to sit on a stool but that's only been Friday lunch and I just get take away those days.
6/10. The sandwiches and salads are good and there's quite a variety, I think they food it a little overpriced though. Sandwiches are quite small and my friend got the calamari which he then had to go and get something else after eating it. Also a lot of the food is pre-made, so don't go here if you have a dietary requirement.
Repeat customer. I go here for lunch at least once a week - surely this says something.
The food is fresh and tasty. It gets a little busy but that's because the food is good, go just before 12pm if you don't want to line up. Love that they change up the salads with each season and the variety is fantastic.
Holy shaboly. Had lunch there for the first time in a while with a group of 4. cant believe how much the place has grown. i had the finch burger. just the perfect amount of spice to kick my day off. the others had some of there incredible salads and one had the chicken skewers. all of them kept raving all day. definately going back!!
Most amazing salads ever. I normally get my ready-made salads from a salad bar in Post Office Square but after seeing the same boring salads on offer every week, i thought i'd try somewhere else for a change...
i stumbled across Sparrow & Finch and their amazing array of ready-made gourmet salads.. Initially, i thought $9.90 for a large salad was pretty steep; but after giving it a go, i'm never going anywhere else!!
There were about 6 salad to choose from and i chose the caesar salad, roasted herb potato salad and a brown rice, roast pumpkin salad. OMG i was completely blown away.. its not very often i say i'm full from salad, but i could barely finish what i had in front of me...
Best salads ever; definitely a new fan here!
Fast, fresh & friendly. Super friendly staff, fresh produce and a smorgasbord of ever changing salads and hot specials on offer makes Sparrow a simple choice for regular city lunch.
Fast service, quality food and great value.
Highly recommended for best lunch on the run in Brissy.
Great spot for breakfast, lunch and an after work drink- Sparrow and Finch hits the trifecta! Breakfast is fast, offering breakfast staples as well as some fancier treats like breakfast burritos and REAL fruit toast. I regularly get a take away brekky with a well made green tea. Lunch also great- lots of ready made sandwiches, salads always fresh and changing daily and a yummy cabinet of warm lunch meals- I have never had a bad food experience here and very reasonobly priced!
I had tried sparrow finch some time ago and was unimpressed by the chicken Caesar baguette. I have recently started getting lunch here again and have been blown away by the lamb, pumpkin and sour cream baguette. It's a bit crazy at lunch and the service isnt great, but gosh that baguette is good!
Favourite CBD Lunch. I love to mix it up and S & F provides a huge variety every day. I mostly stick to their salads - Greek, Caeser, Potato, Wonton, Beetroot are all great and change daily.
Their mini pizzas, daily roasts and pastas are great if you feel like a hot meal.
Great value for money, usually only spend about $7 and feel more than satisfied.
If you get there after 12:30 don't expect a much to be left!
Excellent cafe/bar concept. These guys are continually adding new items to their already expansive menu. Delicious already made rolls, wraps, salads and the pizzas are just amazing. Get in early or you will miss out. The staff are friendly and the main guy (owner I think) is very passionate about delivering outstanding service.
A Different Take.... Breakfast wasn't too impressed....Overdone poached eggs, hard bacon and would suggest spreads to be served separately from toasts. Turkish bread probably from the supermarket.
Spinch is a great place, great food awesome staff and cold beer...definitely one of the best places in the city
Great for lunch best food in CBD. I eat here everyday, do yourself a favour and ask Pauly for a "lawsy" special pizza- best pizza you will eat outside of Italy. if your feeling hungry and your not in peak time, ask for the "Pauly special" this sandwich is da real deal, melted cheese, steak and other bits make this the best sandwich in the CBD!!
Disappointing variety for breakfast but my dog Pauly is working on this, so watch this space
Overall hands down best piccolos, salads and sandwich variety in the City.....
Stay fresh
Lawsy
Fresh..... Yummo..
Super fast service, great old fashioned roast style cooking with some funky side salads...
Happy to have stopped on by..
Thanks!!
Sometimes the service is contemptuous, sometimes it's fine. The food is always good - bar the leafy salads towards the end of lunch rush when they tend to be soggy. Sandwiches are excellent.
Great food!. After some friends told me about this new place i had to try it,I went there on a friday at 12.45 and found the place was packed,i thought to myself i was going to be there forever trying to place my order, after going through an amazing selection of salads, pizzas and sandwiches i was served very quickly and within around 8 mins i had my felafel wrap with a pumpkin and beetroot salad all for under $10 .The wrap was one of the best sandwiches i have had in the city, the salad was great too.My friend who ordered the steak sandwich special, hasnt stopped raving about it (it was served on sourdough bread with chilli jam),he washed that down with a glass of shiraz all for $19. The person that served him even let him taste the wine before he bought it. I call that great service when someone is so busy and still makes time for wine tasting. All in all great food and value for money.Cant wait to go back.
Consisting of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, avocado and tomato, I'd asked the avocado to be swapped out with sautéed mushrooms and thankfully, this had happened. There were a couple of standouts on the plate, the bacon was cooked just the way I like it and the sausage was chorizo (and that always goes down well with me). I thought the scrambled eggs were OK too.
Sparrow & Finch is the perfect place for either a takeaway lunch or a catch up with fellow pigs on your lunch break. My favourite thing to order from the big, beautiful presented cabinets are the range of salads, which change daily. The ceaser, roast vegetable and Asian noodle salads are my top picks. But if you are feeling super hungry, you can order a mammoth burger (beef or chicken) served with chips. I would avoid the sandwiches, although they look tempting, they are too front-loaded for my linking (aka, they look jam packed with ingredients but in reality, they are mostly bread). Price: $7 for medium salad.
Yay! WE have finally made it down to Sparrow & Finch! Miss food hunter has noted quite a number of commendable cafes sprouting in and around the brisbane city area but they seem so far reaching as neither of us work in the city nor do these cafes operate over the weekend. Last friday, we had some business with the city council and we were excited to go downtown! Sparrow & Finch offers an amazing array of gourmet salads, sandwiches, wraps, pizzas and also a small cooked food menu. The long row of display cabinet was filled with such bright colours that really made every single item 'pop' and looked just appetizing! Not only can you get your warm cuppa coffee but also alcoholic drinks too. Miss food hunter had the toasted Turkish of Tandoori chicken & Mint Yoghurt with delicious softened red peppers and a side of Roasted pumpkin & balsamic beetroot with spinach & fetta. The flavours were great and true of a tandoor chicken minus the char and it was indeed SAUCY...something that Miss food
Sparrow and Finch turned out to be a good weekday lunch venue. Some of my friends go there for after work drinks too and I suppose the location is really handy for anyone who works in the city. The food we tried was tasty, filling and served quickly, and the decor is simple and contemporary.
