The Tonkotsu Ramen here is reliably good. While on walkabout at Carindale Shopping Centre, Phuong Tran suggests we visit for lunch. Warmly greeted by staff, we place our orders and seat ourselves.
Lunch is served in 15 minutes. Our Original and Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen are nicely presented and delicious. Love the Pork broth, al dente Ramen, thick slices of Pork and the lovely🥚! Thank you guys!
Staff were very friendly.
Ramen was lovely. A very comforting meal
I’m currently on a mission to visit every ramen place in Brisbane, so my next stop was obviously Shinobi Ramen in Carindale.
I ordered a Tonkotsu ramen and only waited for about 5 minutes. In this time, I went to the toppings station and got a cup of lemon water, a little serving of sesame seeds and red pepper flakes.
I really liked this bowl of ramen: the noodles were the right amount of firmness, the pork was incredibly tender, the fungus was a nice bit of texture and a bit of green onion with each mouthful was delicious. The amount of pork in the serving was very generous. The broth was so rich and thick, I really liked it. The egg was really yummy, creamy and had the right amount of salt. However, I didn’t enjoy the nori that much in the soup.
I would definitely come back to this restaurant and would highly recommend it. Enjoy 😊
Personally I’m not a huge fan of ramen but my friend is a total ramen enthusiast and we both thought the ramen here was incredible! Chicken karaage was also very good. Bonus points for friendly staff and food arriving reasonably quick.
Been here on quite a few occasions. Food is delicious but happened to be sitting on the side where the artificial bamboo plants are situated and was absolutely shocked at the extremely thick layers of built up dust completely covering the entire volume of bamboo. Quite off putting whilst eating my meal as I’m sure that the volume of dust would have certainly weighed more than the plant itself. Come on guys .
I cant remember how many times I have been here . It never disappointed me . Polite and super efficient staff . Absolutely love their house noodles and chili oil . The best ramen in town for sure . Very good price too
A pro of having a late lunch was that I didn’t have to wait with a crowd. The red chilli tonkotsu ramen was served just after having been ordered for a few minutes. From the first sip, I could feel its spiciness-yum! The broth, not as rich as Hakataya’s, was served perfectly hot that I could enjoy it until the end. Fast and efficient staff, so a happy customer I was.
Best ramen in have had in Brisbane. went in on a Thursday night and the place was packed! Waited for little over 10 mins for our ramen, we both order black garlic ramen and wow unbelievable range of flavors. Our go-to for Ramen now.
Great Tonkotsu Ramen. Went here last week with the Bub and we absolutely loved this place. Had the black garlic and red chili ramen which has to die for. Also chicken karaage was delicious. Well done Shinobi for upping Brisbane’s ramen game 👍
Easily the best ramen in Brisbane. Tried many other popular ramen places here but most broths disappoint. Shinobi has the perfect broth, noodle, and meat combination. Even the side dishes like calamari were yummy. Writing my first ever review because this place warrants one!
Had this last night and it was really really good. In my honest opinion the best in town. The soup was white and creamy which is very hard to do as i worked in a ramen shop for 1.5yrs and our ramen never looked or tasted like this! This is great for Brisbane! well done
Tried this place tonight for the 1st time and it is the real deal when it comes to Ramen. Went with Japanese friends who have been going on how good it is and yes they are right. We rate this the best in town.
I’m a vegetarian so can only comment on the Vegi ramen and this is absolutely awesome stuff! Nice vegetarian options and Nice Asahi on tap to wash every down 👍
I come from Japan and I can tell you this is very good quality ramen. Many ramen I find here do quick fake ramen but not this place. Very very good lovely Ramen 🍜❤️ ありがとうございました
Probably best ramen I have tried outside Japan.ive been to Japan many times and love ramen so this place really did blow me away. Definitely Japanese owned.
best ramen in town! i had red chilli ramen and it was very delicious. free takana very taste and they make their noodles fresh every day. will be my new ramen place now
We had spring rolls and gyoza here. Very good sauce for the gyoza and quite hot spring rolls. Good place for a snack for us. We visited for a light lunch.
I used to rank Genkotsu, eight mile planes as my favourite ramen but Shinobi is now my favourite. The pork broth is the most delicious ramen i have had and the hand made japanese wheat noodles are amazing!
Such a fine traditional Ramen!
I am very happy i find Ramen like my country Japan! All staff very friendly and all Japanese which make me feel like home. Best Tonkotsu Ramen i have in Australia !
It is difficult to get good vegetarian ramen so I am so glad this place is here. The ramen looked pretty but more importantly it was delicious and included lots of different vegetables. This place would be great for lunch or dinner.
Living in the southside, I hadn't trekked east for quite some time, so when a friend suggested that we do some shopping at Carindale, I was keen to try out Shinobi Ramen, a Japanese Ramen Bar that I've heard quite a bit about, but yet to try. Being situated close to the relatively new and extremely beautiful glasshouse, the store was in the middle of the shopping corridor, which isn't usually what I like (preferring the seclusion of a corner stall), nevertheless, we went to try it out.
It tastes good but very small portion, the soup itself is very nice but noodles may not be enough for a guy. I think they do charge for extra noodles too.
Surprisingly little place. Somehow always walked past but finally decided to give it a go. Food is really decent and holds up well to some of the more famous ramen places in Brisbane. There gyozas are excellent.
Also special mention to there service. A little while back they lost my order. To there credit, not only did they get the food out quick once they realized their mistake they also refunded me my purchase without me even having to ask. That is a first in all my years of dining out. Have since been back.
The taste was very good. However they're lucky they don't have to compete with Hakataya here. It's basically the same thing but without free kaedama. Shinobi does have seaweed, half egg and wood ear fungus from memory. Vegetarians especially will enjoy their vegetarian ramen as well as Asahi on tap.
But Hakataya have perfected their process and it's a couple of dollars less. Friday early lunch just past midday and it still took half an hour for our order. It is new so I guess there's more people than usual. They were apologetic.
If you don't like shallot unfortunately they chop it relatively fine here so it's hard to pick out.
So damn good! A more refined version of Hakataya Ramen, but with vegetarian options too. The broth is way more delicate and you can ask for extra noodles without paying extra also. Worth the trek from the city. A+
One perfect bowl of tonkotsu ramen for both rainy day’s and summer day’s. Broth is deliciously seasoned and you can really taste the authentic meat stock in there. Noodles perfect. Char siu isn’t as nice as hakataya ramens’, although still good. I saw a lot of reviews saying the portion sizes are too small, but not for me. The portion was perfect. Not too filling or missing and extra kaedama is only $1. Good job 👍🏽
Chef Hideki really lives up to his name as “the tonkotsu king” - the broth was deliciously thick and the flavour was deep. I put chilli oil on mine which added a nice character to the tonkostu. The only downside was the noodles were chewy and clumped together at the bottom of the bowl - it was a bit like eating dough. Overall a nice little restaurant in a good location - it’s nice to have a local ramen joint that isn’t Sunnybank or he city. Will definitely be back!
The Tonkotsu Ramen was very good. I couldn't fault it. On par with Taro's and Hakataya for good ramen in Brisbane. The staff were efficient and pleasant.
The food was enjoyable, though they are lacking options on the menu. The chicken karaage was not too fatty, but crisp and delicious. The restaurant itself is modern, but still has that unique Japanese touch about it. The one other thing I suggest they could improve on is the fact that when I asked for a glass of water, a staff member replied, 'Sorry, we don't have any.' I found that a little strange. What else would they make their ramen with?
Shinobi - simply the best
I'm a fan of Japanese food and the Vegetarian Ramen deserves a A1 rating! Another favourite were the Japanese dumplings.
A very efficient and friendly service team and the Japanese kitchen team to be congratulated.
I shall be back soon!
Good but not great. Its more a beginners introduction to ramen, which probably suits its food court location to be fair. Tonkotsu lacked punch and depth of flavour. Still a good bowl, very easy to crush. Missus had the Vegetarian Ramen, which was surprisingly very nice, for veg. Would return, mainly due to proximity or if didnt feel like a heavy bowl.
Best Ramen in Town hands Down! Very Authentic flavours. I had a chance to speak to the owner and he told me their story of how they poached one of the best Ramen Masters in Japan!! A must try for all Ramen Lovers
A nice and very palatable ramen. Warm and soothing and filling. I enjoyed it a lot and will most definitely return. Tastes genuine and authentic. The broth could use a touch more flavour but who am I to complain. Thankyou!
We had surprisingly decent tonkotsu. Super quick service. Price a little expensive for the experience and amount of food. I felt like it was more snack sized rather than a meal. I wish they offered free kaedama for those who are hungry (like other popular ramen chains...)
Discovered this eatery when I had the seafood banquet at Yum Cha Cuisine of Carindale Shopping Centre. Kept my promise and went back another day for exploration. The trading strategy of this Ramen Den is very clever to focus on serving two kinds of ramen, the Tonkotsu & Vegetarian Ramen. Particularly the vegetarian ramen is rarely served in Ramen Den as the main choice, not even if you eat in Japan. It was my veg day so ordered the vegetarian ramen, vegetarian gyoza & the mushroom salad. Service is efficient and hospitable. Love the combination of ingredients in the ramen with mushrooms, greens, pumpkin, Nori, fungus and lotus root. Gyoza was average but the mushroom salad was the hero, so refreshing and tasteful. I will definitely go back to try the Tonkotsu Ramen next time.
Was not expecting much from this place but the ramen was actually really good! Very thin melt in your mouth pork, good broth and they aren't stingy with the additions like marinated egg and seaweed. And not a ridiculously huge sized bowl either. Will definitely go back, yum!
This was one of the better Ramen stores I had in Brisbane itself.
Portions were generous and was quite fulfilling the pricing was a lil dear but fair due to the large portions
The Standard Bowl was spot on delicious. The spicy one was great too !
Great flavour and quality of the food. The curry had good flavour and there was plenty of.
I only wish to had gotten some ramen as well. I would definitely go here again.
Absolutely loved the ramen! The broth is exceptionally good and I would happily just drink the broth all day ❤️ Service was very fast and even though the menu option is very small, it's clearly because they have perfected the art of what they are doing very well. All the dishes we tried were exquisitely prepared, fresh and so delicious. Both the tonkatsu and vegetarian ramen were amazing. The vegetarian and pork gyozas are delicious. And the endamame were so fresh! We will certainly be back again! While the drinks selection is very limited the Asahi beer was just the thing for washing it all down. Beautifully chilled and generous. Speaking of generous, we found the serving size for the ramen on the small side in comparison to other ramen joints but personally, I prefer the smaller portion. If you don't like garlic, you might want to avoid the gyozaa because we detected garlic in it. I love garlic so that's not a problem for me but my husband detests them with a vengeance 🤣 Pricing is definitely on the high side especially for ramen but after tasting it, I can totally understand why as there has been a lot of thought and care put into choosing quality ingredients and preparing it. Remember folks, this is the art of ramen not 2 minute noodles. Im sharing some photos of our meal for your reference. My photos don't do it justice so try the real McCoy for yourself. You won't be disappointed. Ps. If you're new to Carindale, note that you have to pay for parking after 3 hours but it's minimal. Oh and for parents with kids, there's room for strollers ❤️
I had a very delicious and filling Tonkotsu Ramen here today and can highly recommend to anyone looking for an affordable and authentic Japanese dish with quick service and friendly smile.
It was the first time I’ve dined here and I’m so happy I tried this genuinely delicious feast of a soup!
The ramen is clean and full of melodys, not to rich. Allowing the flavours of the other elements of the tonkatsu comes through beautifuly. The noodles are just on point hand made fresh on-site ever morning. All and all it lived up to its heritage.
We had tonkotsu ramen at Shinobi the other day. I had the Black Garlic and hubby had the Red Chilli... YUM! So much depth of flavours in the broth and pricing is comparable to some other ramen joints around. Brings me back to Japan. I reckon this one now wears the crown of best ramen in Brisbane. Hmmm salivating just thinking about it.
