We used to visit the Sitar at West End frequently, which disappeared many moons ago. So we decided a trip to Albion on the train was called for to savor the delights of Sitar again. Those delicious & unique onion bhajis haven't changed or the samosas. Aloo ghobi was delicious & perfectly spiced with plenty of cauliflower. Service gracious & portions generous, so well worth the train trip
Called in for dinner, it was reasonably early but the place was really busy. Greeted by really friendly staff and seated quickly. The food is excellent and served exactly how we ordered it, good sized portions and well priced. Well worth a visit, we will be back.
I am batching and wanted to dine somewhere different than pub food. Sitar Indian restaurant is opposite the Albion hotel on Sandgate Road. There is sufficient off-street parking around the venue and you can eat indoor or safely on the street side. We opted to side street side and it was very pleasant. Service was excellent and the food was even better. I would highly recommend the venue for a getaway from the usual, you won't be disappointed.
Indian food is available at Sitar and makes everyone crazy. I swear you won't be able to ignore the dishes out here. chicken tikka , chicken tandoori, fish bhuna with jeera rice and butter naans is their speciality .
Chicken tikka was served with mint chutney , chicken tandoori had the indian spices very correctly induced in it , the main course was served with some raw salad and the dinner went very well.
Awesome food, nice ambiance and great value. Love this place. Can’t wait to go back. The have a party hall for up to 150 guest with terrace.
This used to be our go-to Indian years ago, and on a recent trip back to Brissy we revisited our old favourite.
I can't say it's gotten better, but it's still ok. I think they've expanded again, and the place feels large and empty. The naans were great, doughy and airy, perfect. The goat curry (new and trendy) was not good. Service was fine, although I'm not sure who owns this place now and how far they will stray in the future.
Good Indian, have been here for years and still awesome quality. I would say, that this is the best Indian in the area. Nothing extremely special, just good quality that was consistent through the years.
This is such a good Indian place. Best Indian we've had (and we've been to India). Tandori chicken, samosa, plain and garlic naan and onion pakora are our favourites. Absolutely stunning interior- they've put so much effort into making it an authentic experience. The staff are absolutely amazing and so lovely. Brilliant for dine in or take away. Very fairly priced.
We have been coming to Sitar in Albion for many years! Service here is always consistent and food has always been delicious and on point. Definitely try the Peshari Naaaaan!
Love love love Sitar and their service!
The food is excellent, one of the best Indian I have ever tried for sure. Can't say enough good things about them.
Delivery option is fantastic...
Ordered curries and naan's for delivery last Saturday night, based on recommendation from a friend (via menu log).
All meals were delicious, arrived at the estimated delivery time, and priced very well. As a mum with 4 sons, it was delightful to discover another delivery option than pizza, that tastes so much better....
So good!. We are regulars for take away, delicious and consistent meals. Definitely recommend the lamb korma.
I visit this place frequently and the service/food has never gone wrong. Food quality is of good standard. The ambience has deteriorated over time but sit on the right side of the entrance and it works. Great place!
Fantastic. The service was friendly and fast. The food was fantastic. We ate here because they took Barter and certainly will be back.
Yum yum yum! Best Sitar we've had, we'd rather drive the 20 minutes and get the good stuff instead of getting the local delivery! Online order without a hitch. Parking for pickup is a bit tricky.
Dinner review. Dined here last night for the first time, excellent service, great prices and the food was great and very filling. highly recommend this place and would go back again, its also a great place if you want a nice quiet atmosphere.
Indian delight. As a brazilian, I had never tried indian food, and I was introduced to it in this restaurant. Well known for its spices and chillies, I was a bit anxious to try it. But this restaurant is simply one of my all time favourites! The staff is super friendly, and the rooms are all decorated in a way that make you feel comfortable, like you were in a friends house. My favourite dish is beef korma, a type of curry made with different ingredients like cardamons, plums, coconut and sultanas mixed with a strong and authentic indian flavour. I usually eat it with rice and garlic Naan (a kind of bread). It's just delicious! Another great dishes are the Prawn Malai and the famous Butter Chicken, both worthy of a try!
Dinner Review. Best Indian eatery in the area. Food fresh and tasty, however inconsistent with the strength of the mild, medium and hot curries. Friendly service.
Although it is not Indian food as you would find in India, it is nonetheless very tasty and has a great take on Indian cuisine. The taste and ingedients are very fresh. Very friendly service in Albion , which for me, is the best of the Sitars in Brisbane.
Best in Brisbane. I have been coming here for about 5 years and in my opinion is still the best Indian in Brisbane. The only criticism and room for improvement would be the inconsistency regarding heat levels (mild-med-hot) Have ordered hot and received med, have ordered med and got mild. That said, I still drive from the other side of town to eat their Indian and only have positive things to say about Sitar Albion. Recommended
Good Aust Indian. Reliable quality is served up at the Sitar on a regular basis. Most of the dishes are the standard Australian versions of Indian favourites. Although they do have some irregular dishes served with prawns that are worth trying.
Venue is BYO with a hotel and reasonably priced bottle shop across the road. Don't expect the wait staff to remember whom ordered what meal, and you won't be disappointed. Total bill price I feel is outrageous for Indian fair, considering the proprietors total outlay on the establishment. But hey, they are popular, and it hasn't stopped me from fronting up again and again. If you order take away (not dine in), make sure you show up early, as they always over estimate the wait, and like a lot of take away places I am not confident of there handling of held meals awaiting pick up.
Great Indian. Quality meals. Unlike most indian places in brisbane the mains are full of meat and veggies {rather than be all sauce/curry in an attempt to make the meal look large}. Friendly service. I can not fault the place.
Hard to fault. I eat takeaway from here regularly and it's always delicious. Serving sizes are generous, naan bread and parathas are HUGE. The meat is always tender, and the staff are alwasy friendly.
I've also dined in here a dozen times, and always had a good experience. It's my go-to Indian restaurant.
Great.. For the money these guys are great!
Chicken is great quality! Huge naan breads!
Great, we keep going back!! Excellent service, which is fast and friendly. The food is also very tasty!!!
I love the butter chicken with a plain naan. Service is friendly and they make you feel welcome. Live te interior of te restaurant.
Excellent. Was there tonight with 3 friends, and again it was very very good. The service perfect, nice friendly staff, and the food? Well, what can I say? Even though we ate way too much, there was a definite taste of 'more'.
Anyone liking Indian cuisine would find it very good. We definitely will be going there again, and again. Recommended.
First visit. Great first time at the Sitar restaurant, the staff were very good with helping a couple of novice Indian cuisine adventurers select a great meal. BYO and good value as well.
Always happy to return. We have never had a bad meal at this restaurant whether it be eat in or take away.
The food is full of flavour and if you ask for it hot they will certainly make it hot.
Happy to recommend to friends and family.
Take away is always great! Always friendly as well!
The Best Indian Food in Brisbane. Sitar is one of my family's favourite restaurants. Sitar consistently offers excellent fresh and delicious cuisine, delivered with attentive service. Faultless on all counts. Highly recommended.
Love this place.. Beautiful food and professional staff. We did enjoy our meal there.
Favourite Indian. Best Indian in Brisbane. Love this place, consistent great service. BYO wine which helps not let the bill get out of hand.
Simply Awesome.. We love all of the Sitar Restaurants.
It's always fresh. It's always tasty.
The Decor is nice and so is the service.
I've had everything on the menu, and I've yet to be disappointed by an item... The Samosa's and Butter chicken are great, and for those of us into adventure, the Saag Gost, Ceylon, Vindaloo and Biriyani all hit the spot.
The only little gripes I have are their slightly western-ised menu and the fact their staff can be a little shy (or don't speak a lot of English).
I would love to see a hearty, punchy goat curry on the menu.
Yum yum. Very nice for a franchise! And great service.
Great food! Fast service! Value for money! The naan bread is soft and delicious! We had butter chicken which was not to rich but just right... We loved that they use breast chicken (we are very fussy when it comes to chicken!!) will definitely be back

I am extremely fussy with indian food, as so many of them just get the flavour wrong, or use low quality meat! This is the beat Indian food I have ever eaten! The food is amazing and of high quality including the service! I would recommend this place to everyone!
LOVE it!. Absolutely the best Indian food ever! Love the naan, it is just so soft. Curry's are rich and flavoursome, particularly the butter chicken (highly recommended). The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has nice ambience if you are on the level up from the bar. Would like to eat alfresco but the traffic can be a bit noisy at times. Staff are very attentive, offering popadums while waiting for takeaway. Great value for money. Sitar express Everton Park is also excellent!

Best Indian in Brisbane. By far this is the best Indian restaurant in Brisbane. The service is fabulous and the food is always and concsistently at the best quality. When trying other Indian restuarants we always compare back to Sitar- Albion. Albion is the key here, there are other Sitar restaurant locations, such as Wynnum which are no comparrison with terrible service and not so good quality. We live on the Gold Coast and regularly drive the distance for this curry. Well recommended.
We went for dinner on the weekend. Service was super friendly and fast. When the food arrived we thought the serving size looked small, boy were we wrong! Awesome food and a great night out. Highly recommend
Great service, decent ambience and tastey dishes. Not the most outstanding quality of Indian food, but has become my new favourite haunt for lunch.
Nothing more than a glorified takeaway Indian meal food quality wise. Service & atmosphere are adequate, but the food is subpar. The Macdonalds of Indian cuisine.
***UPDATE *** (In the interests of Fairness)
2 Subsequent meals we've had from the Albion Version of this Franchise have been MUCH improved with tender cuts of meat and fuller flavours.
I'm now of the opinion it depends on which chefs are on as to the quality of your meal.
I would generally recommend this (and the New Farm location) as the "majority" of the meals I've had are now up to what I consider a good standard .
Great food and service. I go a couple of times a week for dinner and have never been disappointed
I've never been to India but curries is one of my favourite food! Sitar is a franchised authentic Indian restaurant in Brisbane and the Albion one has surpassed my expectations! Friendly staff, reasonable price, incredible tasty curries! We had Samosas as
Have been coming here all the way from the Gold Coast for the past 20 years, the curries haven’t changed, still the same fantastic flavours you crave for!! Still the best Naan breads!!! And still great service. We will definitely be back again soon
Amazing food! Currently sitting at home in a food coma wishing I could finish off what’s left because it tastes so good but I’m so full. I’m worried that this is the beginning of an addiction and I’ll never want to grocery shop again. It was ready to pick up in 25 minutes, super quick. The garlic and mozzarella naan and potato naan are 10/10. I love that they use breast chicken as well. Thank you guys for making my night!
Lovely experience! The waiter maybe manager was on by himself tending to absolutely everyone promptly and equily, he also took orders in his head like a proper 'MaitreD' that alone made my experience itself. Then the food came out and WOW! Entree's where delischious, lamb chops where Stunning and perfectly cooked. I had the beef vindaloo, naan and rice and everything was perfect, very much looking forward to my next visit!
By far the Best Indian food that I have tried in a very long time since I am in Brisbane.. Paneer Tikka masala, dal makhni, Garlic Naan, sour Paneer Naan and Rice - couldn't fault find. Immaculate taste! The old rustic North Indian ambience of this place and the background music just added to the whole experience and spiced things up more. For a moment felt like I am in India. Kudos to the chef and management. Thank you. Cheers🥂🙏🇮🇳🇦🇺
Food was delicious, butter chicken was full of flavour, bits of peanuts in the sauce and great amount of chicken breast to sauce. Also got a cheese and garlic naan that was not cut but very delicious with a thick sauce
