While I was waiting for my order of crispy pork Banh mi at the Kim Thanh bakery, my gaze was caught by the arrow of the signboard near the store that reminded me the location of the Blackstar Coffee Roaster around the corner. I could not wait to tell the bakery that I would return in five minutes, then rushed to have my take away coffee.
Service at the Blackstar is excellent and I had my coffee in hand within three minutes. Needless to say, it takes all the boxes again.

I eat at Blackstar at least once every time I'm in Brisbane and love it! There's aways a buzz and and all the meals I've ordered have been great! I'm not a coffee drinker but everyone I've taken with me has loved the flavours which means I have to bring back beans for them. The Cold Pressed has been a hit too as we haven't got much like it in South Australia.

Mmmmmmm.The cold pressed coffee, total black is deeeeeelicious.Peppermint powerhouse smoothie is wicked too. Spanakopita yum. Service very friendly.
Very nice selection of breakfast dishes at a reasonable price. Plate presentation could be a bit better and the service is very standard, but it carries a nice hipness that you could only find in West End. Certainly an enjoyable experience.
Really nice location and great cofffee and services, i would definitely go here more regularly. Grab your beans, ground coffee or enjoy their hot and cold drinks.

Here's to another Sunday!! As I scroll through my 'Bookmarked' places on Zomato. Blackstar Coffee comes up and so I make my way there :)
I've been to Blackstar Coffee a few times and haven't been back since I stopped working at West End. Thought it'll be nice to take my mother there this time and revisit the cafe again because I do remember their Avocado&Feta was really good! When we arrived (9:50am), majority of the tables were filled with people. Luckily there was one spare two-seater table right outside near a corner and so we took a seat there :) After deciding what to go with, I joined the long queue at the counter. Around 5-7mins of waiting I was able to put in my order - Bacon&Egg Wrap, Avocado&Feta, Flat White and a Cold Press Coffee.
The coffees came out really quick, unfortunately the Flat White wasn't really hot enough. My Cold-Press Coffee was nice and refreshing though :) Minutes later, our meals were presented on the table. The portion of the Avocado&Feta was a little smaller incomparison to what it use to be, despite that I still enjoyed the flavours. Mum had the Bacon&Egg Wrap and was pretty happy with the portion, definitely filled her up :)
Overall a nice experience, staff are friendly and attentive!
The best cold drip coffee in Brisbane! Every time when we are going on a road trip, we are getting here as early as possible to buy a lot of bottles of their cold of drip.

It's our local go-to brekky destination. We get the smashed avocado and feta on toast and add egg to it. It's so good! Their blackstar iced coffees in the glass bottles are yummy and perfect for summer too!
It's always a good environment. Definitely a five star.
One of the best spots in Brisbane, you know it when you see it consistently packed with people despite being tucked away in a side street, and with minimal signage as well. Coffee is superb. Great place to buy beans as well. They've built up their selection of food over the years but really it's the coffee that makes it so good.

Their coffee is in contention for Brisbane's best.
We love their take on iced chocolate - the best in the city.
They also serve up delicious pastries, sandwiches, salads, Super Bowls, bliss balls and breakfast.

The cold pressed is always favourite from here, tried some of the baked goods from the cabinet to my delight they were delicious, danish and the brownie is to die for, $5 but worth every penny .
Best coffee I have had in Brisbane in a long time. Staff are fantastic, vibe is great and I can't think of one fault. Will be back asap to try the food!
Fun, relaxed, and the best cold drip available in West End. This cafe epitomises the area and is hugely popular with locals. A limited menu but a friendly atmosphere and a great place for study group too!

I got a hot chocolate and a blueberry muffin. The hot chocolate was brilliant and very chocolaty. The muffin had a perfect consistency and tasted great.

Long black with ice and it taste nice. Wish that it came in jumbo size.

Very funky looking cafe and off the main drag. Good coffee and I had a delicious breakfast wrap and not expensive.
This place was super busy on an Ekka Wednesday but worth the wait as the store is rustic and trendy with heaps of coffee accoutrements and they sell their gorgeous cold pressed coffee also which is cool. We sat and people watched in the shade of West End.
This place doesn't look like much with its basic table and chairs all placed very close together. The staff were very friendly and the services was also quick given how busy they were. Great music played at a level where you could enjoy the music, conversation and the best coffee.
Dont Change. A fave when I'm in Brisbane. Service is pretty laid back but so is West End. Coffee is good, food good to sometimes great. I love the potato rosti/hash thing special breakfast. This place isn't trying to conform to any one else's standards and thats what i like about it!

Best coffee I've ever had. Super strong and unpretentious. Free wifi is a plus too. And no minimum on eftpos. Not super fast but who cares when the coffee is that good.
Loved the cow's milk iced coffee in a bottle. Tasted superb. Nice eggs Benedict for breakfast with haloumi on the side, too. The young lady who served me was very friendly.
It is hard to find good coffee in Brisbane but Blackstar bucks the trend with consistently excellent coffee. Other specialty coffee places make milky weak and fairly bland coffee but Blackstar packs a punch with a strong flavour I like. Best in Bris I have tried thus far.
Killin it!. Blackstar never fails to disappoint. The chai is always amazing (though 'extra hot' is never as hot as I like it). Food is good, portions are spot on and well priced. I don't drink milk or coffee (WHAT?!) so I couldn't tell you if their bottled iced coffees are any good but I have heard that they are amazing! I like the fact that it's not on the main strip so you don't constantly have people hassling you for change etc and it's quiet and peaceful. Who cares if the staff are apparently always stoned, they get the job done and look good while doing it.
Not bad. I really like Blackstar. I've warmed to the awkward as hell wait staff who tend to round up change to the nearest dollar because maths is a little too hard at 10am, especially after a big night. Either that or they're consistently stoned. You won't see the guys rushing to bring your food to you, so don't go if you want to be in an out in under an hour on a weekend morning. That said, the coffee is the best there is and the bottled cold press is next level genious.

Very good coffee! I had the eggs benny and swapped the mushrooms for bacon - it was fine. Lost marks for non-freshly made hollandaise.

Great coffee shame about everything else.. Blackstar are very good at making coffee, but that is where it ends. The service is terrible, each member of staff is an isolated unit, one takes the orders, one makes the coffee and then one has to do the delivery. If they spoke to one another they would not have a guy running around holding two coffees asking each and every customer if they ordered them. I would not eat there the place is way too dirty. However, if I am not in a hurry, the coffee is very reliable and very very good.
Excellent coffee. Blackstar's coffee is consistently good particularly the single origin blends. This has become our new local for both takeaway coffees & freshly ground beans to use at home. Definitely recommend checking this place out!
Super Coffee, Food just OK. We live close by and like Blackstar ... the coffee is excellent and the vibe is very laid back and relaxing. No pretensions here ... We have had breakfast here a few times and though it is nothing special it is OK and reasonable value. Just kick back and enjoy .. it is West End.
Great coffee, great food. Two thumbs up!. Went here for the third time yesterday. It was the first time I've ever ordered food. I got one of the burgers and it was delicious! The patty was packed full of flavour and the toppings were perfectly matched. The coffee was robust but smooth and made with Maleny Dairy milk. Great as always.
By far one of my favourite coffee places in Brisbane. Nice and tucked away with their own coffee made and supplied. The food menu changes often, but usually still something I like on there everytime
Very nice. Haven't tried the food, but the coffee is lovely, roasted in-house. Up to Melbourne standards, both blends I have tasted were rich, smooth but mellow. Very relaxed atmosphere - bring a book, the paper and hang out with very funky, chilled out people. The bottled iced coffee is the best I have ever had - you'll never ever drink an IceBreak again (not that I do anyway!!) My only compliant is that the T/away cups are one size only, and that size is too small. I want more - bring in a larger size cup for us poor sods who can't sit in and indulge!!!
Nice relaxed fit out, they have all the equipment machine wise. However they only offered a house blend the day we were there, for espresso it is a bit too acidic. The service was friendly, but inexperienced, simple questions about what coffee was on offer weremet with bewilderment, crockery and glasses were dirty and our pop cap bottles not opened etc. The thing they really have going for them is their amazing bottled iced coffees, made on site they are visually attractive and taste excellent, flavored with agave syrup and vanilla on a hot Brisbane day they are perfect!

Had a delicious simple bacon + egg + mushroom brekky at Blackstar with delicious relish. Cheap too think it was $14 with the mushrooms being a couple bucks more. Worth it.
The coffee is superfly. Try the cold pressed Kaffe (iced coffe) as well. Just tried a breakfast pita and I loved it!!! Great value too.

Good Service and Coffee. Excellent coffee, and the breakfast was amazing! My boyfriend ordered bacon and eggs, he said they were awesome, I had the breakfast wrap which was very tasty and the right portions of ingredients. I love the quirky dinosaurs they give you for your order location when they bring the food out. Overall this place is awesome, a very open layout, however our table was very wonky which makes for a difficult balancing act when you are trying the eat! overall the service was prompt for a sunday morning, will definately be going back.
Suprisingly good dinner. If you are after a quick and casual dinner this place is excellent.. the menu isn't big (just three options), and the portions are reasonable but not generous... but the price is good (under $15), the atmosphere is enjoyable and the quality is excellent.
Love the Full Creamy Cold Pressed Kaffe! - so very good on ice when the heat's on but you still want a Blackstar caffeine hit. Nice cruisey spot to sit and chill out too. Classic West End.

The repertoire of offerings is small but so very tasty. On offer is a fine selection of premium beans, branded bottled beverages to take away, and delicious well made meals. Despite its relatively small size the brownie was rich and quite filling on its own. There was a good chocolatey flavour and the texture was more dense and less cakey - exactly what a brownie should be.
A favourite spot for me to indulge in 20g double ristretto shots, Black Star also have a modest menu offering, roasted beans fresh to order and cold pressed coffee.
Also Kei's breakfast was quite simple as well, but it's probably the simplicity of it which added to it.. simple presentation, simple flavours & with good coffee makes it all the more enjoyable!

First time trying this place today. Hands down the BEST coffee in Brisbane. My iced latte was so smooth, creamy and not overly bitter! No pic as I’ve never drunk a coffee that quickly in my life.

Fantastic and trendy cafe, set in a quieter street than surrounding competition. Prompt service, delicious coffee which was I thought the main draw of the place, however, the food was a massive surprise. Absolutely delicious and unexpected. Will not hesitate to go back.

My long black was a little dark for my taste. I came here because they use an alternative blend for black coffee and I was hoping for some delicate complexities in flavour but this was a classic punch in the face coffee... not bad though. No pics cos that cookie is GONE!
