It was the first time that we had lunch at this restaurant recently. Never expect to pick up a high CP lunch like that.
We ordered the lunch special of Char Keow Teow and Laksa. Portions were both generous and the important winning factors are the taste and ‘Wok Qi’; they are both superb👍😋👍

Went here for an early weekday dinner with a friend.
We shared the Fried Wontons, Laksa and Sweet and Sour Chicken. Laksa was flavourful with good portions of chicken, eggplant and noodles. The Sweet and Sour Chicken was hot, crispy with a deliciously sticky sauce. Also ordered the Hainanese Chicken and Nasi Lemak as takeaway, which was flavourful and still enjoyable to eat the day later.
Service was very efficient (our meals came out in five minutes or so) and friendly. Casual ambience with limited indoor seating. Reasonable prices.
Overall, a good dinner option for no-fuss pan-Asian food.
Noodle dishes here are treat & the portions are decent small & cosy environment.
Lovely staff and even better food! We had
combination hotpot: the chefs were so generous with the seafood (which is rare!). The broth was savoury and the tofu was perfectly crisp on the outside and juicy inside. It was well balanced with the right amount of vegetables and meat!
Stir fried chicken noodles: MASSIVE portion! Definitely worth the money, and it was so flavourful. You could decide what noodles to have too.
We also ordered chicken rice which was moist and delicious 🤤
Lovely service as well :)
Great food, great portions, great service. We went for their Thursday lunch special ($9.90) and we were served with generous portions. We ordered the Char kuay teow, beef brisket noodle and Ipoh ricenoodle soup.
When Sri Mahkota first opened, it was excellent. Over time it’s actually gotten better. Real Malaysian food, very fresh and delicious. The serves are large so come hungry.
Have been here four times now in the last two months since changing owners (sometime earlier this year).
The portions at this place is really big that my partner and I always have takeaway for lunch the next day. Two dishes is enough for 4 servings. The hofun dishes are quite good with the wok smell you need in stir fry dishes.
Hot teh tahrik is also really good, although it did keep my partner and I up all night. so beware of drinking it for dinner if youre easily affected by caffeine!
Overall, decently good food for nights off from cooking dinner at home.
Passed by last week and saw full house here. So decided to come and try. Once get in to the restaurant, I could smell the very authentic Malaysian foods ( makes me excited). Ordered the fried rice and prawn noodle, very high expectation and didn’t disappoint! Super generous portion so ended up me and my husband super full and almost couldn’t finish everything.
It’s my favourite Malaysian restaurant in Brisbane Southside. The food here is excellent and authentic Malaysian food. Love most of their dishes, all taste great! The side dishes especially the chicken wings and the tofu is very delicious. Price is very reasonable as well!
The portion sizes are very generous especially with the noodles - the plates/bowls were almost overflowing but were still quite nice. The hor fun was very delicious and I would recommend ordering this dish if you visit this place.
Having teed up with Meatballs And Beef Cheeks for a Malaysian lunch I was going to propose Mama Malaya. I eventually decide on Sri Mahkota as I wanted to show him the dozen or so Asian restaurants at Pinelands Plaza.
Walking in at 12.30pm we see several vacant tables and we seat ourselves down as menus and cold water are provided. Meatballs orders a Curry Chicken with steamed rice for his main meal and three entrees, the Curry Puffs, Fried Belachan Chicken Wings and a Roti Canai with Curry Gravy. I decide on the Nasi Lemak and I opt for the Beef Rendang.
Our meals start arriving after 10 minutes, nicely presented and served hot. It is standard Malaysian fare and the two stand-out dishes are the Curry Puffs and Belachan Chicken Wings. We leave quite satisfied on our next mission to seek out Milk Teas at Sunnybank Plaza. Terima Kasih Sri Mahkota.

Met up with Brisbane's undisputed Malaysian expert, Joe K for a very enjoyable lunch at Sri Mahkota in the Pinelands Plaza Shopping Centre.
We kicked off our meal with Curry Puffs ($7.50), Crispy Deep Fried Chicken Wings ($7.50) and Roti Canai ($7.50). We then ordered the Curry Chicken ($12.90) and the Nasi Lemak with Rendang Beef ($13.90).
The Great:
The Curry Puffs were absolutely delicious - some of the best I've had outside of Malaysia/Singapore. The filling was flavourful and the texture was spot on. The hand-made puff pastry was perfect. Overall, this rated 4.5 out of 5.
The Crispy Deep Fried Chicken Wings, marinated with Shrimp Paste, were crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. I'm glad Joe suggested we try these. These rated 4-4.5 out of 5.
The Good:
The Curry Chicken and Rice was tender and delicious. I would have liked to see a little more chicken served with this dish, but the serving of rice was MORE than adequate. The curry itself was a little bland, but I still enjoyed the flavour. Overall, this rated 4 out of 5.
Per Joe, the Nasi Lemak with Beef Rendang was good, but not great. Still, it had the distinction of being the best Nasi Lemak he's eaten in Brisbane in 2017. This rated 4 out of 5.
The Average:
The Roti Canai with Curry Sauce was the only dish that failed to impress. It was good, but the Roti Canai was quite dry. This rated 3-3.5 out of 5.
Needs Improvement:
I recognise that the Papadum, served with the Curry Chicken, was mainly a garnish, but it was rubbery and had poor flavour. The Papadum helped to dress up the plate, but one bite was enough to make me wish I hadn't tried it. I'd recommend that they leave this off the dish or work to improve their recipe and/or execution.
Overall, Joe and I enjoyed a delicious meal with great service. I wouldn't hesitate to return.
Came upon the recommendation of a friend who said food was authentic Malaysian. Enjoyed the lunch - had the Assam laksa. All the food had such large portion sizes too. One bill per table if paying by card can pay separately if all are by cash. Was full house at one stage too with one table moved outside.
Saw their advertisement on the newspaper and decided to finally pay a visit. Very small and cosy restaurant with a relatively clean and tidy kitchen. Which is always a plus. Ordered the seafood noodle with egg sauce (wa tan ho) and prawn noodle soup. Quite authentic I must say. Big portion and not too salty. A very small portion of my seafood noodles were a touch burnt but I guess it's always hard to achieve the perfect wok taste. Definitely coming back to try other dishes :)
Sri Mahkota is a Malaysian restaurant situated in Pineland plaza. The busy little establishment has been on my bookmaked list for several months. Last week, I finally made the effort to visit for weekday lunch. After reviewing their simple yet traditional menu offerings we decided on: deep fried chicken wings to start, Hainanese chicken rice & fish head vermicelli soup.
Chicken wings: fried to order with a generous 6pc serving. The deep fried goodies were pre-marinated with shrimp paste with a light crispy coating. Meat was juicy, succulent with big funky shrimp paste flavours. What a great way to start the meal. 4/5
Hainanese chicken rice: boneless braised chicken, bean sprout and chicken oil jasmine rice all complemented with a sweet soy and chilli dipping sauce. A taste of the meat and I was blown away by the juicy, tender and slightly chewy texture complemented with hints of ginger, garlic, sesame oil and soy. The rice was fragrant with big chicken oil, mixed herbs and ginger flavours. As an overall package, it’s one of the best Hainan chicken rice I have ever had in Brisbane. Bravo! 4.5/5
Fish head vermicelli soup: contains chucks of pre-fried fish head meat, mixed veggies and thick vermicelli all in a fish based white stock. The broth presents strong fishy taste with loads of pepper (potentially to cover up the smell?). The fish head itself was room temperature and displayed a strong fishy to a nearly off taste. Vermicelli noodles were well cooked but the poorly made broth cannot be overlooked. 2/5
Service: for a busy weekday lunch was average at best. The lady taking our order was impatient and cannot recommend any specific dish. 3/5
Hint: focus on their Hainan chicken rice, fried chicken wings and laksa varieties.
We ordered Assam Laksa, which was a weekend special, chicken satay and Hainanese chicken rice and all dishes were very delicious, especially the Assam Laksa. Will definitely be back for more!
Fast at delivering food. Wait time on three seperate occasions was about 5mins. Dishes are prepared by a Malaysian chef who absolutely smashes the flavours. Best Malaysian food I've had in Brisbane by far.
I've decided to go in and try it since I've always seen a lot of people in there. We've decided to order curry laksa and egg noodle as well as Hokkien Mee. The dishes didn't take long to come out and they were generous with the seafood. The curry laksa also has full of flavors and wasn't very overpowering and the egg noodle itself isn't soggy and it is close to the ones I've had at KL. This is one of the restaurant that cook the Malaysian dishes like the ones I've had at KL and it was definitely enough to share amongst three people
I've had Sri Makhota bookmarked for a while, it was just a matter of persuading Mrs Kan Do to approve the expedition. Finally got a chance for lunch and we weren't disappointed.
The interior is well decorated and presentable, but it was busy and seating was a bit cramped.
We ordered curry puffs and a nasi lemak (with beef rendang) to share.
We were both happy with the nasi lemak and beef rendang. The beef rendang had the ginger and spice that I enjoy with this dish and it was not dry and the rice, ikan bilis and sambal egg was all quite good. I would rate this dish 3.5-4.
The curry puffs were also reasonably good. We did not get the sort of zombie curry puffs (bubbled up pastry) that we got at Mama Malaya and at Malaysia Makhanan with Joe K. The filling was adequate but a little dry and I would have preferred some other vegetable (like carrots) other than the spiced potato mash. I would rate the curry puffs a 3-3.5.
Overall, this is pretty decent Malaysian food at good prices.
Best Malaysian hawker food in Brisbane!
We revisited this restaurant for Sunday lunch so that we could try the assam laksa which they only make on weekends. It was magnificent - a spicy, fishy, sour, fragrant soup topped with pineapple, cucumber & red onion. We also had some roti canai, belacan green beans and succulent fried chicken wings - which were all amazing. The flavours were so authentic and the prices are almost Malaysian too.

This tiny cafe/restaurant serves authentic and good value Malaysian food. We shared a seafood laksa, fried noodles, assam fish with rice and the chicken wings and it was all delicious!! We'll be back to try some more dishes soon!!
Compared with other restaurants, in the same area, that offer the same kind of food, Sir Mahkota offered less choices of food and drinks on the menu. Though the place was quite small, it was clean and welcoming. The service was fast and friendly. Our seafood laksa and stir fried chicken with black bean sauce were pretty good; yet not the best over there. Overall we were happy with our dinner.
Lovely Malaysian cuisine. Quite authentic :) We had the Char Kwey Teow (CKT) and the Combination Laksa. The CKT could of used more egg but overall was nicely made. The Combination Laksa was the highlight of my dining experience. Colour, vibe, ingredients and portion sized was outta my imagination. Biggest laksa serving. Couldn't finish half the serving. I worked in a few Malaysian restaurants and this is one hard core Malay cuisine!
Pretty alright Malaysian food. The cost is a little more than usual but the serves are big. We had the fish vermicelli soup and watan Hor fun. The fish broth was quite nice, very peppery. Had it with fish slices rather than fish head.
There are high chairs. The tables are kind of close together so it is a little tight for prams. We have a very small one so it was OK.
Would come back to try more. My favorite har Mee was unavailable that day, same with desserts. Hopefully next time they'll be available
Local gem. No a bad place for Malaysian food. Do brings back memories. Staff are friendly. And decorations made this place quite cossy. Will always come back
Living near Sunnybank Hills means that I drive past the main foodie district in the Sunnybank area on a daily basis. A couple weeks ago, I noticed a sign for a new restaurant, Sri Mahkota go up. With the recommendation of a Malaysian friend, I finally relented and went to try it out last week. . We arrived just before 12pm, and it was really lucky that we did. Whilst it was only half full when we arrived, the 12pm rush resulted in a small crowd waiting outside for a table. Water and menus were brought out very quickly, and we made our selection from the large array of traditional Malaysian meals on offer.
Heard good reviews of this new Malaysian place and checked it out with family and some friends tonight. I am glad we managed to locate their phone number (which could not be found when I googled for it last night) and made a reservation ahead of our visit.
We arrived 15 mins later than our 5.30pm booking on a wet Saturday evening. The place was packed! The food, in general, did not disappoint. At our table, we had penang char kuey tiao, kam heong chicken, nasi lemak, roti canai, chicken laksa and some drinks. Kam Heong chicken, laksa and nasi lemak were excellent and tasty. Char kuey tiao didn't taste too bad (but our group preferred the penang char kuey tiao at Taste of Penang which has more wok hei). The curry sauce that came with the roti canai was pretty good but the roti itself was a little dense and not fluffy. The teh tarik was enjoyable.
I would go back again to check out other food. We wish the place is larger. Do ring up and book ahead if there are more than 2 persons dining. It can be pretty noisy when you get many people chatting in a small place. Service was pretty good. Our food didn't take too long to be served (around 10 mins. Pretty good given that it was full house at that time). There are only 2 high chairs available.
