Review Campos Coffee - Brisbane

Otto Zeiger
Very pleasantly surprised to find such a big cafe in the heart of Newstead. Definitely very busy in the mornings. I recommend to book a table if you don't want to miss out. We came for brekky and to work on our laptops, there are few tables with power points which is good. They have quite small yet interesting breakfast menu. Their signature coffee is sparkling long black which is chilled carbonated water + double espresso. I was not game enough to try this but very tempting. Staff is very helpful and kind. Venue is clean, tidy and modern. The only down side of the visit was that we ordered extra trout with one of our dishes which we did not get. I would definitely recommend it for my friends and would come back for another round for their coffees and food.

Pretty average food but the service and the service was patchy. One of the staff was super helpful and pointed out that toilets (which are outside of the venue), another waiter was not very forthcoming with the drinks options, while the third waiter was super attentive and looked like he actually cared about our enjoyable experience. We ate the pork belly and the crab spaghetti. The pork rind was not quite crispy enough and it could have done with further fat rendering. There were too many mint leaves in the salad. The crab spaghetti was fairly well cooked, albeit underseasoned and needed a good turn over as the oil pooled under the spaghetti.

Very relaxed modern causal atmosphere. Good selection of coffee and food menu. Friendly and reasonably fast service. Can accommodate large size group:plenty of seating available

I've been here a few times now. Coffee and food is always really good, service is great and we can always bring our dog to sit outside and they have a bowl of water for him each time. Will definitely be back... helps living next door :p

Campos Long Island has the same great quality coffee and food you would expect from Campos. Coffee was great, breakfast was delicious, the staff were friendly and there was a great atmosphere. A great addition to the area—check it out!

Drove past this cafe in the morning and found a parking space so gave it a go. Surely, it is the first time of visit here but I found that I have reviewed this cafe a few years ago? Eventually, I discovered that it was moved from the Campos coffee at the previous spot of Wandoo Street!
As compared to the old venue, this is much more contemporary with cosy vibe. High ceiling with spacious lay-out deserve my appreciation. In addition, the strategy of 2 hours free parking at the nearby Secure Parking is a win win situation.
Importantly, it knows how to serve its house brand coffee, which is perfect!đź‘Ť
Last rating: 4/5

Have to give a score of 5 for the coffee , however deducting a point for my scrambled eggs. They were quite tasteless & stringy. Partner had his fried I think I should have done the same they looked deliciously rich & bright orange in colour, so don't know how they managed to scramble the same eggs & get them to turn a whiter shade of pale? Maybe egg mix? Beautiful flat white though, depth of flavor lingering all morning so thanks for that

Not made fresh every day and is constantly out of stock
Vik
Contained the brunch favourites and a high quality coffee to accompany it all.

Nothing particularly special
The menu is short N almost all r regular meals
The taste was normall N personally think it should be rated just below 4
I came here for lunch and was promptly seated but was not promptly served after that! I waited about 10 minutes before I hailed a waitress down to order food and drink. Once I ordered the drink took a while to come out. In fact it came out the same time as my Caesar salad was served. The chai tea was delicious at least which I can't say the same about the Caesar salad with added smoked trout. The picture attached was my salad... which cost $19 + $5 extra for the smoked trout... What a rip off. Looked like something I would prepare for myself. If I'm paying top dollar for a salad I hope to get something a bit more restaurant quality.

Visited for lunch with Pip Ondadip and was quickly seated, Campos long island offered and indoor dining space as well as an outdoor dining area surround by beautiful greenery.
We quickly ordered coffee and our lunch, coffee came quickly and it really hit the spot. The only disappointment was waiting over 40 minutes for our dishes to arrive, as customers arriving after us start to finish their dish.
However, once our dishes arrived they were amazing! Wasn't a fan of the smoked trout though..
Mark
Lovely venue, was promptly seated upon arrival. Ordered the Steak and Eggs upon their recommendation and it didn’t disappoint. Tasty Steak, eggs and mushrooms well done. Their latte was meh though.

We come to this beautiful one year old restaurant for lunch. Warmly greeted, Paul Chan and I are promptly seated and iced water and menus provided. We place our order and sip on our cold refreshing drinks.

*Steak and Eggs ($24) come with a generous serving of sliced steak, fried eggs, mushrooms and sourdough. I enjoy this dish and rate my meal 4.5!

*Pork Belly Salad ($24) has four slices of Pork Belly served with candied sweet potato cubes, Asian salad and Kim Chi. Paul is disappointed there is no crispy Pork crackling and leaves the Kim Chi, rating this meal 3.5!

Service here is fast and staff experienced and friendly. I like this restaurant and will return with Phuong Tran. Thank you guys!

Satisfied my afternoon treat. Loved the coffee and its latte art. The yummy slice made me forgot of how hard I would need to work out at the gym afterwards:P
Cheryl
Great coffee and cheese cake, but the waitress is having big problems bringing everyone’s correct order lol....nice atmosphere and environment however

Having been a fan of Campos when it was situated at Wandoo Street at Fortitude Valley, it was undeniable that they had outgrown their lodgings as we've never able to go there for brunch without a considerable wait for a table. Needless to say that I was pleased to hear that they moved to Newstead. Being in dire need of encouragement, I headed out to a long brunch mid week and checked it out.
Jonny Lund
Great food and coffee plenty of options for special brew lovers, slightly pricey otherwise would be a 5star. Good choice of wine and spirits too
Ballerina
very nice - lots of nice options for lunch especially for vego's & also vegans & the COFFEE soooooo soooooooooooooooooo nice ! for me I could just come from the southside for the coffee alone.
Liza
What a beautiful venue!
Easy to see why they have such a great reputation!

I visited during the week around brunch time and the place was quite busy which was a good sign.Food was fresh and delicious. I built my own brekkie, which i looooove to do. I know some cafes don't allow this and i understand as it is extra work for the chef, but it was so nice to do.Coffee was strong and had the usual great flavour.
Decor is beautiful,
Free Parking,
And staff are friendly. Good vibes, and will definitely return!

Extremely disappointed with the service and food! Can’t understand the high score. We ordered something fire up and eggs Benedict. From the veggie to the muffin look like going through second cook. The muffin is oily and unbearable. The only thing worth to try may be the green smoothie.

Update (Jan 2019).
Returned with a friend for lunch.
Good cappuccino- very smooth. My friend ordered a dirty chai, which she thought was well-made.

We ordered the (i) beef sirloin - perfectly well-cooked meat, (ii) pork belly - reasonable, although I would prefer a crispier skin and the fat rendered down further. We also a side of fries, which was probably the highlight - flawless, crispy and good amount of salt.

Once again, friendly and efficient service - although they seemed to have some problems with calculating a split bill.

Rated 4.0 (for the coffee and chips, and breakfast).

.............

Went here for weekend breakfast. We were promptly shown to a table of our choosing and given menus and water.

We ordered coffees (obviously) - smooth, perfectly heated; good simple coffee. For meals, we tried the 'chilli scramble' - the nduja serves a spicy, salty punch to this otherwise relatively straight-forward avocado and scrambled eggs; and the 'roasted pear porridge' - well-made creamy porridge with various grains and fruits to bring texture and flavour.

Casual ambience - open, smart-looking space with plenty of indoors and outdoors seating. There is a nearby underground parking area (paid parking, however reimbursed if visiting the cafe). Reasonable prices (for Newstead). Friendly and helpful service.

Overall, a solid cafe option for smooth coffees and a bit of breakfast.

This is Brisbane’s best café right now.
It’s a delight to eat, drink and interact with the team here. We went there this morning and both ordered a breakfast burger. The burger is $16, and doesn’t offer value for money. It was quite tasteless. We also ordered a coffee that never came and when we asked where the coffee was after waiting 30 minutes, we were told it would be another five. We ended up leaving. I think the ratings on here will see a decline in the coming weeks. Wait until they have settled in and I anticipate the rating will be closer to a 3.5.

This coffee place is hidden in an alley way just behind the james street market. The coffee is great, as they make their own coffee.

Very well balanced and not too hot, drinkable straight away. We come here when we want a sit down coffee.
Mark Reservoir
Friendly staff, nice surrounds, good quality coffee and food - just very long wait times to get anything. Two mornings in a row, it shouldn’t take 20mins to get a coffeee
Emese Kochárdy
Their banoffee Pie. If you haven't tried it, what are you doing? Seriously, the best thing I've eaten in ages that could be raved about. Do yourself a favour and check it out sometime.
Guac&Roll
Consistently great coffee and food! This morning went for a lighter option and had the mango chia pudding. Was light and fresh and a great way to have a healthy start to the day. Highly recommended for their breakfasts and coffee.
Breakfasts&Burgers
Been here a few times and rarely disappoints. Great coffee obviously but underrated food stop in my book. This time for breakfast I had the Mushroom, Poached Egg and Skordalia dish. Two thumbs up.
Bec B
Used to be one of my favourites but has become hit and miss in my opinion. Sometimes great, sometimes terrible. Food menu changes frequently which is fun but not always for the best. Had to wait 15 min for coffee last time and it was burnt
Kate
Delicious food and great coffee was served at campos. Cute little cafe area hidden down an alley just off the busy James St Fortitude Valley.

Usually this is our favourite place to go for breakfast but the last time I went the food was extremely dry and the coffee was burnt. I ordered the waffles & my partner and friend both ordered the fry up (big breakfast) both ordered two extra eggs and they never come out. When paying for our bill, we were asked how our meals were and then explained how we weren’t able to finish our food due to it being so dry, the person on the counter just brushed it off and sent us off. Quite disappointed and will be finding a new breakfast spot.

Came here for breakfast and coffee due to the high reviews. The coffee is good, service is ok, we were lucky to get a table for a Sunday morning as there was a line by the time we ordered but I was disappointed with the food. We ordered the big breakfast (forgot the name) and eggs on toast. It looks fancy but tastes bland and our eggs were cold.

It was my third time to Campos, since I moved back to Australia not long ago. Campos had never let me down. Great food, good coffee and excellent service!!
Psan
Pleasantly surprised by the squid ink linguini with scallops. Thought the scallops could be less well done tho but it was a great meal and the flavours went well together :)
Aaron
This little gem hidden away in the James Street precinct of Fortitude Valley is nicely fitted out and they do cafe food and coffee really well. Great place for breakfast, brunch, lunch or a quick coffee!

Beautiful place, beautiful service, beautiful coffee and beautiful food. What else do you need ?
Very kind staffs and nice coffee, food took a bit longer than I expected however very tasty.
My husband always order avo on toast, according to his words, it's best ever avo on toast !!
Thumbs up !

Seems to be a local gem as people were already waiting at 9am! Crumpets were alright, croque madame was better and enjoyed waffles the most. Cold drip was more palatable with milk and syrup and the cherry coffee tea was interesting but not quite to my taste. Thumbs up for being dog friendly!

Awesome spot hidden away. Great service, friendly staff and great coffee. I'm keen to try their cabinet goods as they looked delicious (not just your average mint or caramel slice).
Tally Davis
The service was prompt, efficient and friendly. The food very nicely presented. The coffee smelled great but I'm a tea drinker. The only suggestion is that they lose the useless teapots that hold only one cup and get some bigger ones. Will always come back here.
Tasty J
Very nice coffee here, but it is crowded, sometimes hard to find a table, and the tables and seats are not very comfortable and it's a bit noisy. So it's a good place to buy coffee not to stay and have a good chat and chill.
JC
I ordered a flat white that I was happy with, really well made by the barista. Campos coffee doesn't often disappoint! The Chilli Scrambled Eggs were flavoursome and delicious, I was really satisfied! Presentation was great and was worth the money. My friend had the Potato Gnocchi which I tried, we both really enjoyed the dish. First time at Campos in Fortitude Valley, had a great experience and wouldn't mind coming back!

Have been hearing about this place so I decided to try it out. The venue was alright but the entry was a bit smelly due to the bins. We sat outside and during our stay I kept smelling cigarette smoke from the next complex. I had Campos fry up which was good and I like the sausage and portobello mushrooms. The latte I had was decent too, although my daughter and my partner didn't like the flat white they had. Service was great too. I have been struggling about the rate that I should give them because their food and coffee deserve a four but the venue doesn't.
Bridget
Top-notch. Quality food, coffee, service and atmosphere. We regularly come for breakfast and are never disappointed. The sous vide eggs are a highlight.
Zardoz
Slow and indifferent service. Coffee was unexceptional and just this side of burnt. Can't understand the high reviews for this place; there are alternatives all around this area.
Matt
Great doppio this morning, pulled short for a thick, syrupy mouth feel that reflected the tasting notes, was the feature bean. Followed up with a long black that was smooth and delivered at the right temperature. I took note of who was behind the bar ... Good work.
Tonytonytony
This place is excellent. A bit hard to find, it's quite small but the food is top-notch. Eggs Benedict were perfect, coffee extremely good and service with a smile.
Anna
I've been to Campos about 4-5 times and each time I have left satisfied. The food is great but, most importantly, the coffee is perfect. I love Campos coffee! The waiters are friendly and don't give an impatient vibe when you're being indecisive. When it is super busy (for example, weekend mornings) the food does take a little while to arrive but that's to be expected.
Not really a negative but Finding a carpark can be a little bit tricky since it's in the James St area, especially on weekends. But usually there is sufficient street car parking.
There's only one unisex toilet available at Campos so can be bit annoying when you really need to go.
Overall, really recommend going to Campos for coffee and place to hang out with friends!!
Meatballs And Beef Cheeks
Tucked away at the end of a small alley, Campos is removed from the hustle and bustle of the Valley.

As you would expect, they serve great coffee - in my opinion it is second only to Merlo in the area. The Iced Latte rated a 4.

I tried the Duck Pancakes from the new menu. The duck was quite tasty - nicely cooked with good flavour and fresh herbs. The filling rates a 4. Sadly, the pancakes were floury and tough - they need to keep working on these or pull them from the menu - 1. As an overall dish, this rates a 2.5 because the filling was enjoyed, but the pancakes ended up in the bin.

Great coffee and a lovely atmosphere were not spoiled by one poor element of my meal, but it bumped their overall score down from a 4+ to a 3.5.

Can't go wrong with Campos Coffee. We will actively find CC when in a new city and with too many choices of places to go. In a side ally (very Melbourne like) with lots of seating inside and out. Quick service and beautiful tasting coffee. This should be your go to place :)
Elle
I have been here twice, once during lunch and once when the food service was about to close. Both times I ordered the same thing - chips with aioli, but I found that there was a stark difference in the quality. The chips I had when the food service was closing were of a terrible quality - the chips were almost hollow and had this hard, oil-glazed look that made it seem like it had been sitting inside an oil vat for hours. It was such a shame because they had tasted so good the first time I had come. Very disappointing. The service however was consistently great and the waitresses and waiters were very nice and welcoming.

Campos provide more than just great coffee from their Melbourne styled laneway cafe.
Despite all the nastiness from their horrid neighbours they continue to provide great food and service along with their signature coffee.
Do down the lane and into a haven where staff smile, the air is rich with the heady smell of coffee and the food is great.
Menu options are varied and interesting.
Food portions are generous and cooked to order to perfection.
Vibe is busy but not noisy with lots of indoor seating (with air con) and a couple of outdoor tables if you prefer.
Campos is a real gem of sincerity in the Brisbane cafe scene. Love it!
Ashleigh
The coffee here is great, we all tried a few things out of the cabinet and they were served beautifully and were so tasty. They forgot one of the things we ordered so gave us a coffee voucher as an apology - nice touch! The brekkies off the menu looked really good too.
Rebecca
Impressive menu - the bubble and squeak was the perfect combination and so tasty. I need to go back for the waffles. Coffee was good here too.

Ordered the cold drip coffee and avocado on toast. The pea falafel complemented so well with the avocado on toast. Loved the cold drip coffee for the milk chocolate after-taste. Enjoyed my meal tremendously.

I would give this place a much higher rating however when I went last Sunday service was a bit of a miss. Staff were getting absolutely slammed! A note to management: An extra set of helping hands would have gone a long way. We arrived and there were several tables with uncleared dirty plates. We waited probably 10 minutes to even be acknowledged, let alone be seated. But we were patient and THANKFULLY the coffee was good, and the food was yummy.

I have no words. The coffee options and the changing monthly menus add an element of fun. The food is simply Devine! My Philli steak sandwich was heaven and the breakfast bowls were so good. Definitely going to be a regular!
Peruvian Palate
Campos coffee is an example of what craft coffee should be. They truly serve some quality espresso here. I've never really eaten at Campos before but decided to try their Banoffee pie the other day. The portion was decent and the caramel filling was not overly sweet.
Alex
Really disappointed. The last time I went here I experienced incredible food and service. This time it was a complete let down. My meal come out and after eating half I found a black curly hair in my meal. I am blonde, so it definitely wasn't mine. I advised the waitress and she took my plate away. She then returned advising me that the chief said it wasn't his and offered two coffee on the house. I was stocked. In addition I ordered takeaway for my partner at home at the time of ordering my food. I reminded the waitress about the order when my food came out. After our meal I went to pay and collect my takeaway. I was informed they had just started heating up the premade bacon and egg wrap and making the coffee and if I could wait out the front. After 20 mins, I went back and to check on this order and they only needed to heat it. She went to check and came back to advise me that they had not started it and could she have the order again. Mind you at this stage I had reminded them 3 times, paid and been told that the order was on its away. 10 mins later. 1.2 hours after the order was placed I received it. With another two coffee cards and no apology.
Keira
The coffee is fantastic. There is a particularly good selection of cakes and treats for food intolerances. The Breakfast burger is a winner.
Gagingi
Campos was okay, but I expected more given the queue. I had the Fry Up and it was alright, but nothing special. The coffee was fine, but not great. The staff were friendly and service was pretty quick. The acoustics were not great and this made it difficult to chat and hear friends. The seating inside was also not very comfy. I would go back if a friend wanted to go there, but I wouldn't pick it as a venue myself.
Vegananon
Going here weekly really makes me appreciate the little things in life. They don't need to do much at Wandoo St but the attention to detail always makes me coming back for more. The food is always delicious & the service is what I would call minimal, in a good way. Less is more.
Alex K
I love campos coffee. It's well balanced, a lot of depth, heavy, minimal acidy and just a joy to drink. Been my chosen coffee now for 5 years. Although quality has been inconsistent at times at the Wandoo Street headquarters. I do think coffee is made better at smaller independent cafes that use Campos Coffee beans. The food is a hit and miss. Sometimes its great and sometimes it's very salty. So I usually eat elsewhere and have a coffee here. The ambience is great and staff are friendly.
Billy-Tai
Originally rated this place a 4 star, but since they moved to Newstead their level of service has dropped so significantly. Have been to their new location on 3 occasions and my order has been forgotten every time. Cost of food increased significantly from their older location but the quality is no better, and in many cases worse. I don’t mind paying a premium price for coffee and food but have an expectation that the food and service will match that price range but unfortunately it doesn’t. Won’t be returning after my third failed attempt
Yisi Tang
It was one of my favorite cafe. But today we got here, we found it changed a lot. Coffee wasn't as great as before and the girls are too busy talking but not severing. We got to wait till coffee arrived to order food. And once we have the bacon too crispy too hard, so we told them just not too crispy then the girl was starting defending this simply request. We run coffee years and campos just not as good asusual standard
Coffee Boy
Great eggs benedict with a healthy serve of delicious hollandaise; coffee flavours were a little subdued compared to my previous experiences here. Good stuff overall.
Foodie Mookie
Love Campos in Wandoo St. Always excellent coffee and cakes. They also do great breakfast and lunch with organic, fresh food with gluten free options. I'm there whenever I am in Brisbane for work. Awesome.
Allan Scriven
Awesome coffee, they have their own blend and you can buy your selection of beans as well. The breaky is also great, and the staff are friendly and want to be there. We will be back.
Stewie G
Outstanding coffee, food, and service. I had the best smashed avocado of my life, it was absolutely delicious and looked like a piece of art. Top notch.
Amy
Been to campos a few times and can always count on a bit of an interesting menu mixing different ingredients to create twists on breakfast classics. Everything always comes out tasting great! I've had the avo on toast with a twist and the muesli. The juices/smoothies are also great.
DRJ
Great coffee and breakfast. Came in on a Saturday with 6 others. Because it was a crazy period they seated us in the room they do coffee tastings I presume. Nice and quiet out there which was ideal for us. Panna cotta granola was delicious as was the pancakes with honeycomb pieces. I had eggs your way which was also very yummy. Service was great and efficient. Highly recommended.
Mitchell.kingston
A great set up with good coffee and a solid breakfast/brunch selection. Can't go past the Campos fry up for a sunday morning recovery breakfast.

Lovely house blended coffee and amazingly delicious avocado smash with goats cheese and caramelised onions! really good food with good service, pretty cute little cafe. Highly recommended to visit.

Well what can I say about Campos!?! Being up from Melbourne I am always in the hunt for a good coffee & breakfast. After reading all the reviews I decided to bring myself and my partner here to start the day! From the outset it looks very Melbourian, a laneway, hidden coffee gem! I had a flat white from the feature coffee Mpanga and its flavours were Devine! Only a tiny bit of sugar needed to take the slight bitterness out. We ordered Smashed Avo & poached eggs with bacon. As we are both GF there was a choice of GF bread, which tasted delicious. Our breakfasts were very good size in proportion, plenty of bacon, eggs cooked perfectly & the smashed avo was on point, according to my partner. All up it was a great place to visit to get a great coffee and start to the day!

For someone who has breakfast here at least once a week, it's mixed emotions when Campos changes their menu, which is very frequently. As soon as you've worked out your favourite, it's gone - to be replaced with new delicious dishes to be tried. Despite the changing accompaniments, you really can't go wrong with the smashed avocado, and the coffee is consistently excellent. Skip the Fry Up unless you're very hungry - the other dishes are more thoughtful and have greater integrity. Prepare for lines on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Love this place. Went with some friends for lunch as we were going to check out potterybarn afterwards and Campos is within walking distance. The coffee was great, and they had lactose free milk for my husband. I had the seared salmon with wasabi mayo - the flavors we lovely and it was cooked well. My husband had the breakfast burger without cheese and he enjoyed it too. Will always come back when in the area.
Foodie Mia
All I can say is delicious. Really enjoyed my friends birthday lunch at Campos. Good was delicious and service was great. Will be going back soon.

An excellent little cafe tucked away in a lane way in the valley. Service was very polite and fast, coffee was excellent and the food came out very fast and was delicious. Would definitely come back again.

Spring is the perfect time of year to indulge in all that campos coffee has to offer. My followers would know that I love finding great breakfasts that appeal to the indulgent mouth.
Though limited in their variety for those with dietary needs, We don't have such issues so it works well for us.
Any other time of year at this Campos is either too hot or too cold due to its locality.

They may harp on that its family friendly, but it feels to claustrophobic to make it an enjoyable experience for those wanting to bring young ones. If you're not bothered by that, the main menu may not also suit a plain pallet of a little one, so the offerings at the counter maybe more suitable (i.e. A croissant)

The decor and seating is moderately comfortable and thankfully hasn't given into the stupid trend of uncomfortable milk crate-ish seating.

It is however becoming a bit dated with some of the fans in dire need of repair as they are literally falling apart.

We don't like to spend hours at a place of food consumption, it's just not our thing, luckily for us campos doesn't muck around with bringing the meals out with them arriving within 10 minutes.
FoodsterChamp
Campos is hidden next to James Street Markets and offers a great range of breakfast items. I had the asparagus breakfast, with brioche, prosciutto, poached eggs. Although the brioche was yummy, the poached eggs were slightly over, but not detrimental to the dish. The coffee at campos is excellent though, with my doppio being smooth and robust.

Been here twice.. Once for breakfast and once for lunch.
First time for lunch I ordered the soup of the day which I was told was pumpkin but when it came out it was mushroom - I love all veggies so it didn't bother me and was delicious for a mushroom soup. The next time for breakfast I got a breakfast burger and has to be the best breakfast burger I have ever had - they don't skimp out on any of the fillings and great value for $12! The coffee was good both times, and the staff were friendly.
AteToooMuch
Mixed feelings about this Campos, we've had up and down service, but the coffee is always reasonably good. One time we arrived early and waited for a menu, which never came. We asked for one, and we're told the kitchen wasn't open yet... Well... Thanks for letting us know!

Food is pretty good, but you should come more for the coffee. And I hate waking past all the garbage bins to get to the entrance...
Brian David Carpenter
This is one of my favourite brunch spots in Brisbane and I'm consistently happy with the service, food, ambiance and coffee. Which is why I was a little surprised today when I came in too try the new spring menu. Elements of the mushrooms dish were excellent. At least 3 great varieties of shrooms were all cooked well, (king brown, oyster, portobello), and the sultanas were an excellent sweet pop to contrast the savoury, earthy characters.

However that's about where it ended for me. The egg was slightly under (and I like mine barely cooked but this was still hanging onto translucence), the pinenuts were good but there was less than ten on my plate, so no crunchy texture to enjoy.
The kale was cooked well, but very bland, mostly because the dish as a whole lacked any acid or chilli to cut through the savoury richness. (Maybe some preserved lemon? Or a vinaigrette, or a truffle and lemon zest infused olive oil is also a fave for this type of dish. Anything really) Especially as without a crispy, the texture and taste became pretty monotone and boring.

All that's ok, if that's how the chef designed it I suppose. But the part that got me really noticing all this was they forgot to put the goats cheese on the plate, and then sent it on the side rather than replating. Just doesn't show pride in your plates and that was the last straw for me and what brought me to write the review.

I'd probably not be here writing this if id been offered anything, even a free coffee voucher, a slight token discount on the meal, a free drink, anything really. That was probably my dozenth time in and I'd expect the staff to recognize that fact and truly want to make sure I continue to come back.

Ohhh well, at least I'm spoiled for brunch choices in the area. I will probably(?) be back and I'm still leaving a good rating as they've always been consistent and friendly professionals.

Oh and sorry to the waitstaff for not tipping, I almost always do but not today, no comment on the floor-staff's performance who were all lovely.

One of our favourite spots for brunch is Campos Coffee. It's an oldie and a goodie, even with all the new cafes that are popping up around Brisbane. We always return to Campos even after trying new places because it just always seem to be the perfect combo of great service, coffee and an ever changing, seasonal menu.

I have been to campos a few times and never been disappointed. However it'd been awhile since my last so I was concerned it may have deteriorated. Was I wrong. Smashed avocado with coconut and chorizo curry with a slow poached egg, it intrigued me so much I had to get it. Absolutely delicious flavour combinations. Coffee spot on as always. Service fantastic. Ambience great even on a rainy day. Still one of my favourite cafes in Brisbane city area

Went here for a lunch catch up with friends and we got the cuppa room for privacy. Their service is on point - even though we were in an enclosed room, they came and checked on us at regular intervals to see if we needed anything else. Coffee here is ok, a shame they don't do flavoured shots though. Food was very good and their menu changes monthly so look forward to returning!

Extremely disappointed today. I love Campos breakfast... that was till this morning.
My scrambled eggs were very under-cooked (even though I'd ask for it to be well cooked), my take-away coffee was too hot to hold let alone drink. When my coffee finally cooled down enough for me to drink, it was disgusting!
Given Campos' emphasis on quality coffee, and being a regular this was a shock. I've never thrown out full cups of bought coffee but today was a first.
I won't be back there any time soon :(.

Old favourite for breakfast, coffee and chilling on Sunday mornings. Ever changing menu with twists on classics a bonus. Service is always efficient without being rushed and the pastry cabinet is always a temptation.

The food was okay, especially for lunch there was nothing spectacular. The milk shakes were massive and delicious. The Reuben was only okay.

Had lunch here from their breakfast menu. Chose to have eggs my way - scrambled off course. The eggs were done perfectly! The tomato relish and hash brown were quite delicious. I would have preferred a thinner cut of bacon as I love crispy bacon. Waited in line for a bit to get a table. We eventually got an outdoor table. It was bustling with a steady stream of customers coming and going. Service was quite good too

Food was average in my opinion other than the expresso with a scoop of avocado ice cream which was a unique sensation as the cold and sweetness of the ice cream mixed with the slightly hot and bitterness of the expresso. The chicken liver parfait was disappointing with only 2 1mm thick bread/biscuit (I dunno anymore) and a poached egg which I didn't finish. Avocado milkshake was a bit too sweet for my liking with coconut taste overwhelming the avocado taste. Black gluttonous rice wes decent.

The coffee was decent but not exceptional. Usually when you have a cup of coffee you expect beautiful flavours. The coffee itself tasted fine but unfortunately the crema was sour which created a mixed experience. It could be a hit and miss cafe, if so, they need to work on their consistency.

Booked out a private room today so my friends and I can chill-out while blocked off from the rest of the noise from other customers. Very quiet & relaxing private room with beautiful decor and touch of fine detail. My ice chocolate was slightly above average, however my partner's hot chocolate was bland and basically lacked chocolate taste. The pork medallions in my Pork Lion dish was 100% bland and tasteless. The apple/lemon puree was delicious, the glazed caramelized apple was hard with the skin still on (and was bland), chestnuts were very hard and bland, the crispy bacon strips were way too salty..... The entire dish was out of balance and terrible. The herbs were overpowering in the soup which we could only finish 1/4 of the bowl, the rest was a throw away. The Campos Fry Up was bad with the bacon drenching in oil along with the oil-soaked soggy toast, the mushroom was bland, the hash brown was over seasoned with the lack of balance of herbs & spices which made it tasted funny and the sausage was dry and had a weird tasted to it. Overall dishes were poor in quality with feedback on all my friends' dishes being bland and/or poorly executed. Hero of all dishes ordered were the beer battered fries...

On a positive note the decor was beautiful, service was excellent, eggs were poached perfectly and presentation of all dishes were quite impressive (just disappointed that it didn't taste as good as it looks). The place was tucked away in an ally way with creative artwork, small pot plants, bike hangers and dog parking. Many dropped by for coffee and obviously very busy for the entire 2.5hrs of stay there today. I don't think I'll return unless someone else insisted.

Great quality coffee, food, atmosphere and service. Campos appears to take great pride in what they do, which is evident each time we visit.

Loved this place! Great brunch menu and delicious food. Staff were really friendly and the venue was awesome. Good variety of vegetarian options too. Very pleased.

This funky alleyway cafe lived up to its reputation. Great coffee as you'd expect and the big brekky was huge and to die for. Really good atmosphere too

Yes. Just yes. After loving the Campos Coffee at Gasworks I checked out the Fortitude Valley cafe. Delicious food plus a great textured coffee equals a winner. Not to mention, those danishes! Yum. I'll be back.

Extremely slow at getting takeaway coffees out. And no warning. Very disappointed.

A group of my girlfriends and I decided on a spontaneous breakfast date only about 6 hours before hand during our dinner date at Ole that ended up at Maccas for dessert until late that night. We've never had the discipline or motivation to go for a early breakfast. It just ends up being brunch by one persons inability to wake up early. We finally did it and with lack of sleep! /proud. Luckily, Campos was a good choice for a much needed coffee hit for those who aren't morning people. It was all our first time at Campos but most of us have heard good things. Tucked in a slight narrow alleyway among the streets surrounding James st, Campos was already blooming with morning goers. We ended up having to wait in line, fortunately we were next to be seated. Not long after, we were seated inside and menus were ready and waiting. It didn't take us long to decide on what we wanted to eat and drink since they change their menus roughly every month, their menus are slightly more limited than most other cafes. There was still a good variety to choose from. Look at the rosetta. Still working on my latte art. I get a blob every time without fail :D I had the Iced mocha with ice cream and cream. mmm To start off my morning, I decided on the Campos fry up that had my choice of eggs, thyme roasted mushrooms, haloumi, potato and herb hash, corn salsa, beef and basil sausage, bacon, tomato relish and organic toasted sourdough. Yeah, I decided on a food coma for my first meal of the day. From the plating to the flavours of the food, everything was pretty good. The only thing that I was a little on the fence about was the hash cakes. I'm not a big thyme or even any strong herb fan. It was too overpowering for me. Besides that, I was happy with everything and even the staff were lovely and attentive. I'll definitely be coming back.

The poached eggs were delicious, cooked well enough so the inside was still gooey but not undercooked and the yoghurt was creamy with the right amount of herbs and garlic.

Excellent coffee, especially takeaway. Consistently high quality coffee. Great taste, good service. Very efficient use of the Beat The Q app.

All three Campos stores are must visits for inner brisbane coffee.

WAIT for your food. I was waiting for a reason to eat here as I had seen a picture of their french toast and it looked delicious! And it was delicious but I had to wait a little over than an hour to get it! Yes, it was a Saturday morning, but that's really unreasonable. Also, as much as it says this place is Kid Friendly-it really isn't. They allow kids, but there's nothing much to cater for kids.
