I dont understand how they are still operating. Perhaps this was just a bad night but the salmon smelt off and tasted foul like it had be sitting in the sun for too long. The fried chicken was only partially fried and felt there was a layer of old mashed peas from the unfried layer. The rice felt like it was scraped from the bottom of a pot and mixed with dish water. Only place so bad that i have ever been so disgusted by that I put the effort in to writing a review.
Edit: I didnt order it. It was ordered in store by Bree.

Great food at a very reasonable price! We have tried a variety of entrees, sushi rolls and dons/bentos and all have always been delicious
Margot Paterson
Eat there every Sunday. Good food. Good price. Good service. Supply of water, water and wine glasses and no corkage!
James D
Fantastic Spicy Udon with Grilled Chicken! Also really enjoy their katsu chicken sushi rolls and salmon nigiri. For the best experience order fresh instead of from the pre-made selection.
Kristy Robinson
they serve japanese food but also have some other asian dishes like thai curries and singapore noodles. plenty of vegetarian options and the food is on the cheaper side. we recently got it delivered from deliveroo.

I think that the validity of the reviews where the reviewers only have one or two reviews are little bit limiting. All local guys seem to have a great experience coming here. We frequently eat here and sometimes up to 4 times a week and we think at this place is Hands down best sushi in Rosalie
Tom Barton
Lucky I ordered a Salmon hand roll as Yakisoba was inedible.
Jade Williams
Absolutely fresh sushi, so delicious and highly recommend!
I will be returning!

Spending the weekend down here and out of a quick rush to fill our tummies we ordered an uber eat from sushi lovers. Yummo! The dragon rolls were delicious. Good size bento that fills the tummy and packed with flavour. Please come to Melbourne, you are more than welcome!!! So so happy right now đ€

Have been coming here for years my favourite is the spicy udon soup but sadly have had a bug in the soup not once but twice now. Complained the first time and was compensated but a second time really?! And Iâm not talking small bug the first time was a cricket looking thing, the second time a moth..... just canât bring my self to go back now.

The food here is always incredibly tasty. The dragon rolls are filling and always consistent. I eat here regularly and always leave feeling satisfied.
Although the establishment is far from presentable, you must look past the cluttered, mess of an open kitchen to be able to fully enjoy your experience here. But once you do, satisfaction will follow.
Geoff
Nice enough sushi but decor and ambience let's it down. Nothing to rave about in a tricky spot. Make your own mind up, as it's difficult to dislike but something's not right.

We visited Sushi Lovers for lunch last week. The cafe is casual and reasonably priced. I ordered the spider sushi roll from their extensive menu which is a sushi with soft shell crab, avocado, lettuce etc. The sushi was well presented and tasted quite nice.

Being totally Gen X, an invitation to 'Netflix & chill' can safely be interpreted literally & on this occasion involved delivered sushi & our comfy couch.

The plethora of food ordered included okinomiyaki, takoyaki, karaage chicken, aburi nigiri, pork gyoza, tempura veg, fire dragon roll & fried rice. Phew! The beautifully seared nigiri were the best part - the scallops in particular were delicate & succulent. Steamed BBQ pork buns were a debbie downer - not great, verging on stale. Everything in between was acceptable enough. Not the best we've ever had but certainly not the worst.

Code red sushi craving satisfied but I reckon we lost some freshness in the delivery process. Still worth not leaving the house during a feral thunderstorm though so thank you. đ

Friendly and fast service. Freshly made and good priced sushis. The chicken katsu curry was reasonably nice. Sushi lovers is another great option for a quick and good valued Japanese.

Sushi tasted good however I ordered through uber eats and had 4 pieces of sushi missing and they didn't include any mayonnaise despite me asking for extra.

I decided to try the Vietnamese menu at Mints, Rosalie today. Arriving at 2.30pm I saw the staff having lunch and the "closed" sign displayed. Never mind there is fish & chips at Fish Lovers and sushi at Sushi Lovers across the road.

Walking into Fish lovers I was looking at the lit menu on the wall. 6 crumbed sea scallops ($18) looked appealing with a small serve of hot chips. Unfortunately, no love here :( The staff must be on a smoko break so I walk next door to Sushi Lovers.

A polite Chinese waitress greets me with a smile and quickly takes down my lunch order. I'd heard her conversing in Mandarin to the kitchen staff confirming it's Chinese not Japanese owned. For the past two decades, most Japanese restaurants in Brisbane are owned and operated by non-Japanese so I'm not concerned.

The Agedashi Tofu ($6.90) arrives after 12 minutes. My first spoonful of tofu and dashi broth was delicious. The broth and fried tofu was served very hot, exactly how I like this dish but the broth was a bit too salty for my taste. Rating: 4.5/5.0

The hand rolls arrive as I was finishing the tofu. The soft shell crab hand roll ($5) is freshly prepared and the crab was hot, crunchy and tasty. An excellent dish. Rating: 5.0/5.0

The unagi (grilled eel) hand roll ($5) looked disappointing. On closer examination :)) I see a tiny sliver of unagi with a small serve of rice. It is 2/3 the size of the first roll and looks like it was made by a different chef. Rating: 3.0/5.0

The second hand roll was disappointing but I will return to try a few more dishes on their extensive menu.

Terrible. Don't get why people are raving about the sushi, what amazes me is how did they get such high review.
My partner ordered the same dish in store as she did yesterday on UberEATS. Apparently it was much better the day before. I guess the only plausible explanation for the mixed reviews is their inconsistency. Maybe different chefs on different days, who knows. didn't bother to ask. Not coming back

Break time from work and I'm walking around searching for a good feed.

Located inside Rosalie Village is Sushi Lovers. This business is possibly operated by a Chinese owner - Not that I have a problem, all good!đđ» It was a quiet lunchtime at around 2:10pm, entering the business I hear 2 staff members talking loudly in Chinese. I was not greeted upon my entrance. I'm sure the staff would have seen me walk in (they were near the counter), a nod or a smile would have been nice but I received nothing. (Customer service and food are the two things I mainly rate. At this moment it didn't seem to have started off great)

I helped myself to their menu and decided on the Fire Dragon Roll and Spider Roll "All take-away please".
Whilst waiting for my order, the staff continued their loud conversation. After 15-20mins my food was ready, returning a 'thank you' I head off.

I enjoyed the Fire Dragon Roll, with the combos of Avocado, Sweet egg, Flamed Salmon and Sweet Mayo - Tasty! The Spider Roll wasn't bad either, consisting of Soft Shell Crab, Lettuce, Cucumber and Avocado. The rice wasn't rolled together properly, therefore when I picked it up with the chopsticks it all fell apart. There was a generous amount of crab meat (Spicy mayo would've been a bonus just to punch up those flavours).

The food is average-good, but customer service is just as important.
Catalina Adarme-Vega
I came for a take away lunch and I had to wait over 30 min before I got my foods. Which is unfortunate.
The only cooked item I had requested was gyozas. I didn't see them making them fresh to assume they were in the process. The gyozas came from the freezer and they were the very last thing they started. I must say they were pretty average.
The rolls were ok
Andge_21
Delicious! And so cheap! The crunchy dragon roll and the fire dragon roll are particularly amazing. Gyoza are great! pork buns are average.

Although the food is great, the service varies between average some days and laughably terrible other days.

I like this place. Bang for buck lunch specials during the week but otherwise affordable and fresh. Love the range of entrees and rolls, karaage is always good of course
Hungrygirl
Although the staff were quite friendly and the food came out quickly, we were left very unimpressed. The restaurant was quite grimy, not a very nice atmosphere at all. The gyoza tasted as though they had been pulled out of the freezer, really doughy skins with bland filling and the tempura was really heavily battered and oily, it's supposed to be quite light and crispy. For the quality of the food, the price is way too high. Definitely wouldn't eat here again.
Ashleigh
Tried Sushi Lovers best seller the fire dragon roll on a recommendation and it was awesome; the smokiness in the seared salmon was delicious and the service was fast and friendly.

So the name of their restaurant is "Sushi Lovers", you would expect authentic Japanese food right? When I stepped foot in the restaurant I heard Cantonese music playing. Really? The owner of the restaurant is definitely not Japanese but that's alright you don't need to be Japanese to open a Japanese restaurant. I had a look at the menu and I could see Vietnamese food, Thai food, Chinese food and Malaysian food. I thought this was a Japanese restaurant. Me and my wife ordered at the counter, the waitresses attitude was dreadful, she even ordered the wrong food. When we told the waitress it wasn't what we ordered she didn't say anything and just took the food away, not even an apology was made. Minutes later she arrived with what my wife ordered and just chucked the food on the table. I was so angry. How rude and unprofessional. The food was just average nothing special or tasty, we ordered sushi but didn't even get any wasabi. We walked out of the restaurant unhappy and they didn't even bother to say "thank you for dining" or even bother to ask how everything was. Never coming bad to this place again. Worst restaurant I have ever been to.
Amanda Chan
I'm giving them one because it is the lowest I can rate! If I can give negative rating I definitely will! The service was bad! They brought up the wrong order to me and didn't even apologize for it, I'm so sure that they used the same fried chicken from the wrong order and wash off the curry...
Ailsa Lee
The best thing here is definitely the Fire Dragon roll, followed by the various bento boxes that they offer. The flamed salmon is what makes the Fire Dragon roll special, as you can really taste the smoky flavor that comes from the flame. The sushi here has always been really fresh. I also really like the spicy tuna salad, which has just enough heat to be pleasurable. Â I will say the service here is very variable, sometimes very friendly and sometimes relatively rude, but the food makes up for it.
Muncher
I don't think Japanese people are running this shop, I'm pretty sure they are Chinese, anyways the sushi was average at best, no where near the quality or consistency of an authentic Japanese sushi restaurant, food lacked quality, skill and presentation. The menu consist of Japanese food, Chinese food and Thai food.
BMcLachlan
Relaxed and casual dining and nice, fresh sushi! My dad says it's the best sushi he has ever had and it's his pick of the restaurants when he visits.
FoodsterChamp
Sushi Lovers is my local sushi place and is very consistent with the meals they serve there. Although it an be a little bit expensive at times, their miso soup is great and their sashimi is always fresh.
Jackie
éćžžă«æȘăćł this is very bad sushi so taste is so bad!!!!!!!! I will not come again I don't like it ăŸăă it means very bad!! It is not the real japanese food!
Sarah Finlay
DONT BELEIVE THE NEGATIVE VIEWS. This was hands down the best sushi I have ever had. I don't understand where the negative reviews came from. It's probably just one person that had a bad experience. Incredibly friendly staff, amazing food and even better value for money. I will be back over and over again! :)
Poppy
Went there for dinner last night. Loved the decor and atmosphere looked fantastic. However the food was something else. Sushi was way overpriced and such small servings. I won't be coming back.
Hatch Hog
Not impressed with the seafood laksa
Alex Fitzalan
Poor service and the food does not live up to its score. Very average.
Tegami
Best value Japanese food in Brisbane!. Consistently excellent food. Tempura is light and crisp just as it should be, the sashimi is super fresh, and the gyoza is simply the best I've tasted outside Japan.
DiningDiva
3/10. This place had quick and super friendly service but I really didn't think the food was great. I suspected the gyoza was out of the freezer and the vegetable tempura was super oily and way too heavily battered, although my sushi was good. The food wasn't necessarily bad but I just felt it was quite boring, I've definitely had better and for less money (I got three small dishes which cost me $18.90 which seems like quite a lot compared to other sushi places).
Bardon Eater
Fantastic. This has become a staple for myself and my wife. We would either eat in or take-away at least once a week. The food is ultra-fresh and the service is great (especially from Jackie) and the prices are very reasonable.

Has gone downhill since Jackie & Bennie have left.

My Favourite Japanese Restaurant and I eat alot of Japanese. Fire Dragon roll - Raw Salmon Sushi Roll my fave!! better then the extremely high priced places I've been!!! 2 top it off the nicest most welcoming smiles that remember my name and order even when I phone !!
You guys are the Best see you soon - Tom - maybe even twice in one day lol

@DiningDiva you're an idiot. This place is the best there is, value for money! The dragon roll is sooooo good!

-----21 Mar, 2014-----

The setting and decĂłr of this place is misleading, as the food here is GREAT! Very well priced and quick service. Glad to have stumbled across this one. Do try it.

Delicious, fresh, friendly, affordable!. This place may not look super fancy but the food is always super delicious and fresh, the staff are very friendly and helpful, and you can eat a lot without it costing a fortune. It's not often that you find good, genuine Japanese food that doesn't cost an arm and a leg! This place is wonderful :)

This sushi is divine!! It's absolutely delicious.. the sushi is freshly made to order, and the taste is very balanced and smooth.. I've tried all types of dragon rolls, seriously the taste is divine.. I've also tried kung po beef, Singapore noodle, seafood sizzling and the corn soup, all was delicious.. my favourites are all the dragon rolls.
The staff are "VERY" friendly and the service is out standing. The menu has a huge variety of dishes and reasonably priced.. if you're a real sushi lover you must try this place :)

A must experience for SUSHI LOVERS. I have been going to Sushi Lovers since 2007! I came across this fantastic restaurant when I moved to Milton. Great sushi, fresh and original.

I have fallen in love with the Fire Dragon Sushi they have recently added to their menu! My partner enjoys the sushi but his taste bud scream out for the great Gyoza they make.

I recommend SUSHI LOVERS very highly. A must go for sushi connosoirey!

Sushi lovers is a great restaurant. Everytime my partner and I go in they remember our order and are extremely friendly! We love the new green dragon roll as well :)

Sushi Lovers is a great place to go if you like Japanese food. Their sushi is excellent and you can taste that they are made with very fresh fish. The staff are really friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for good quality sushi at an affordable price.
Daniel
Fire Dragon Roll! Amazing!
The best sushi ever!
Best Sushi place in Brisbane by far!!!
Stephen Morley
Sushi lovers is by far the best sushi in Brisbane. Delicious menu with a great range of specials, not to mention $2.50 rolls at lunch. The staff are extremely friendly, and Jackie (like the Kung fu guy-is what he said to me) is the man and will suggest great affordable dishes
Yumami
Addicted to Sushi. Their new sushi menu is great. Not your typical boring flavours...love the Sunset and Dragon rolls!
Paige
Sushi Lovers is Awesome!. Sushi Lovers is delicious, and the best place in brisbane. The people there are great and their service is even better. You gotta try the dragon sushi they have its the best!!!
Tony W
This is one of my favourite eating places. Red and white dragon sushi is fantastic or great eating with all the dishes in a friendly atmosphere.
Luke
Amazing service and the sushi is even better! If you like sushi, this place is a must...
Clarence
Great sushi!! Always enjoy going here for a quick meal with the girls. If you are in Paddington try this place, the miso soup is great too.

Value for money for sure. Our family loves this place, given it is in a high rent area the prices are good value off money. We normally order some sushi and entree's as the kids like the sushi train while I don't. However the choice here is so much better and cheaper as no impulse buying like the sushi train. Food is great and have been back several times without complaint or disappointment. Usually around $60 for 2 adults and 2 7yo kids with drinks and food. Hard to fault, location, price and food is great.
Maria7722
I love this place. The chicken curry and noodle dishes are very nice! Super cheap. You always get a table here. The menu is huge - Chinese, Thai and Japanese dishes. Yum yum.
Mumu
First time here, must say very impressed with the quality of the sushi here, a lot of sushi shops around brissy, but this one definitely stands out for me.

A suprise in my sushi!. Sushi lovers had a good selection of meals in the menu, and there was just a perfect amount of info to describe the dish. The service needed improvment because me and my husband had to correct or order 3 times because the staff didnt understand us. I ordered the salmon and avocado sushi and my husband ordered the wonton soup, the soup came out and it was next to cold my sushi came out presented well however i bit into it and there was a small, dead cockaroach. My husband and me got up straight away payed and left. Never going back again!
Min Min Zeng
Great gyoza and wonton soup, I like it.

Average....!. Very, Very hit nd miss! No consistency! For wat Japanese is and sushi is supposed to be quality! The salt and pepper squid was full of oil (Deep fryers oil wasn't hot enough) nd tuna sushi rolls... well, in my books all of the chewy pieces should have been cut out! Either laziness or starting with bad cuts or just bad technique with a knife! Indooropilly sushi train all of the way! On a tuesday! Every plate on the train is $3.50!!! Thats value for money!
Cocoloco
Great sushi in the heart of Rosalie. I am so glad I live so close to this place. Really nice food, prepared fresh. I do think the sushi is slightly overpriced. $6 for 4 small sushi pieces seems excessive when it would cost $4 for the same plate at a sushi train or $2 for a roll of the same equivilent. Love the Chicken and Avocado sushi. They also do a massive serve of steamed veges for $8 which is an absolute bargain!
Auchenflower Res
Top sushi joint. Sushi lovers is a great gem, simple, fresh sushi, friendly and fun staff, immaculately clean and you have a great view of the chefs making your meal. My kids love this place.
Jacinta
Love it. I have sushi from here just about every week and I love it every time. The service is always really good, the staff are sooo friendly and efficient ! I like the chicken and avo sushi roll the best ,the chicken is not crumbed like you find at most other sushi places which I really like. My second Fav dish is the Wonton soup! Keep up the good work guys, you are an asset to the Rosalie Village! :)

I'm a big fan of sushi and was very pleased when P Diddy brought home these massive hand rolled pieces from Sushi Lovers in Rosalie. The rice was just how it should be and my avocado nicely ripe, although P Diddy's was hard enough to bounce. The marinated
