Review Blackbird Espresso - Brisbane

Vibrant little cafe in a busy area! Parking is quite tricky on weekends and early mornings but plenty of surrounding streets if you don’t mind walking. Staff are friendly and welcoming! This is probably our third/fourth time visiting and staff have always been really quick and efficient. Have only ever ordered coffee so our review is based on that! Our recent visit, coffees were both really sour. Ordered both a cappuccino (pictured) and vanilla iced latte. Cafe was quite busy, so I understand the pressure to get the coffees out quickly, but unfortunately the quality was compromised. I do really enjoy the space though, the large open window really makes the cafe feel open and inviting. Might pop back in again if I’m the area, but probably wouldn’t travel out of our way. Would love to try some of their food and update our review 👍🏻

Pretty good coffee, attentive service, and the new menu is great! Some of the sides are a tad pricey ($5 for one extra egg) but overall a great experience. Wasn't too hard to get a table for three at 9am on a Sunday which is a big plus!

First time here meeting friends. Will definitely be back. It’s a popular cafe. The first thing that struck me was table service- haven’t had that in a while, so it was off to a great start. Friendly staff and cost relaxed atmosphere. Food is lovely here! Coffee (importantly) was on point! We had a quinoa bowl, mushrooms on toasts and signature hashbrowns Benny! See the pictures and try not to want to eat...

I went to the gym for 2 hrs before coming, expecting a big brunch and they did not disappoint. It is one of the first times ever I've unable to finish my food. 3 of us ordered the pancakes and none of us could finish. They are so delicious, so generous, so gluttonous and so more-ish that I kept sneaking more bites into my mouth even when I could barely move, or talk or breathe from being so full. Timtams + nutella + strawberries + icecream is a dangerous combo. Don't come if you're on a silly diet. Come if you want an $18 meal that will fill you up til brunch the next day. Couldn't recommend this place higher. Also expect a 30min wait, this place is crazy popular but the staff are lovely and the wait is worth it. So worth it.

Difficult one to review. Went for breakfast on a Thursday morning around 8am and we were the only diners. Great start with chilled water brought to the table promptly. Lovely ambiance with nice background music. However, one of the wait staff was cleaning the tables & chairs with a small bucket of soapy water and cloth. Left the bucket on a nearby table, brought us our plates and then resumed cleaning. Did she wash her hands first before handling our plates? My hash cake with bacon and poached eggs looked great and was tasty although the bacon could do with more crisp but got an unwanted surprise crunch from a rather large piece of egg shell...oops. Wife enjoyed her "healthy heart" granola/ muesli / yoghurt but said her flat white could be hotter. So heaps of potential but missed the mark today!

Very friendly staff and really yummy food! The coffee is really nice and the presentation of the food is lovely! A great little spot in Camp Hill and I can't wait to return! The breakfast ham and cheese croissant is also really nice!

Some visits are excellent and some are not very good eg sending food back to be heated or cooked through more etc. Today was a no decaf coffee available and a slice of barely warm floppy "toast" banana bread. I came home and toasted it myself. Would love to experience some consistency please.

This cafe has a nice vibe and the service was very attentive. Some interesting breakfast choices that are Asian inspired (quinoa nasi goreng) as well as standard fare. Bruschetta wasn't really bruschetta and came with roast tomatoes instead of normal diced cherry tomatoes. Coffee was quite good.

On the way to pick up my car after the brekkie at the In a Pickle, my gaze went across the road and was attracted my the clear logo of this espresso.
Have not been back over eighteen months so approached it for a take away coffee.
I loved the success of thai little espresso and witnessed it has been strongly growing among so many competitors.
Surely, it is the service and coffee act as the currency for its competitive power.
Previous rating: Mar 2019 4/5

Came here on Saturday morning, the place is often packed, yet the coffee came out relatively quick. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable; they could recommend the right beans for the flavour profile that customers were after.

I came here on several occasions and the main thing that I noticed was the ever-changing beans. Their coffee was almost always brewed perfectly too!

I will come back in the future when I’m around the area!

Blackbird is a fantastic takeaway coffee spot surrounded by a bunch of great cafe spots and the best place to grab a coffee after your breakfast. With a great selection of coffee and such friendly service it’s no surprise how popular this place can be. I enjoyed trying two coffee types here and the price is very reasonable too. They also have a good selection of milk types.

Tahn and Helen have a great thing going here. Their passion for coffee and their customers is consistently very high. They have coffee options depending on your taste and can legitimately talk you through the flavours. Can't comment on the food as it is only my go to coffee house on weekends. Only reason I don't give it 5 is because when it is busy it can be slow. They offer you to text ahead your order though. Not much they can do in a small space lime that either. Lovely people, great to see them doing well.

Have visited this little cafe when under different management, it was pretty good then, but now it excels. The passion exudes from these new owners & they certainly have a passion for coffee. What a surprise when he proceeded to explain about the single origin selection. He said the flavor would make me crave another & he wasn't far wrong. All those associated tones & notes were bang on & presentation a work of art. A rather majestic swan adorned my flat white which added further panache. They serve simple toasties & a few fast breakfast specials as well. My accompanying avocado came with feta & dukkah plus a zesty salsa.

The best coffee in Brisbane! Very knowledgeable friendly staff, who know their coffee and how to make one. I drive 10 minutes to get this coffee with no regrets every time :)

Though it's quite a distance from where I live, it doesn't stop me from travelling here. I really like coming by this cafe :) Run by a Vietnamese owner - his cafe offers a selection of goodies including: Home-made muffins (made daily), Banh Mi, Acai Bowls, Smoothies and other savouries as well. Espresso is definitely on offer!! Don't forget to look out for their daily specials!!

I felt like something refreshing for the afternoon, so I went with their traditional Acai Bowl :) Cool and fruity with bananas, blueberries, strawberries and coconut finished on top. This was just the thing I needed after a not-so-great breakfast :)

Thank you so much Blackbird Espresso!

New owners. My family have lived in the Camp Hill area for decades. Blackbird Espresso is a cute little espresso bar on Martha Street and I love stopping by for a quick coffee and muffin or for a light meal. New owner Thanh has enhanced Blackbird even further with a fresh new shopfront and dining area. The food is simple yet tasty and there is a great range of hot and cold beverages. I personally enjoy a cappuccino and toasted granola jar but I also recommend the smashed avocado or breakfast bowl for something more substantial. Parking is always available on the streetfront or at the rear. Highly recommended to anyone Thanh Tran

Great coffee and friendly service, very consistent. The food menu could use a little imagination but if you're only after a quick coffee it's a great place to go!

Dropped in for a bit of light food and a coffee early on a Wednesday morning, so wasn't expecting much. Ordered a bacon, rocket, tomato relish wrap ($13) and Cappuccino ($4). Coffee was great, however the size of the wrap stunned me, it was tiny literally the same size and my wallet. I finished it in 4 bites and was obviously still hungry (and only wanted a snack). My afterthought was my 1 year old would devour this and still be hungry... If it was $7 I wouldn't have minded... Very very disappointing, I won't be going back and hope in future they realise that they don't serve food to sparrows.

...a little "hole-in-the-wall" type cafe with a small seating area just outside. Ordering is done at the counter and then brought out to your table. Jarryd and myself started off with the usual for him - a mocha and a skinny latte for me....Our coffee arrived and then soon after our breakfast arrived. I think it's really cool how you can see straight into the kitchen and watch the chef prepare your food! Our breakfast was quite filling, I was amazed with the size of the meal for only $16. It came with two pieces of sourdough toast with loads of avocado on top, bacon, eggs done your way, and either sweet chilli jam or tomato relish! I opted for my eggs to be scrambled and the sweet chilli jam, whilst Jarryd had his eggs fried with tomato relish. We both enjoyed our breakfasts, we left feeling nice and full and ready to face the day!

The breakfast that I just had to have was the Winter Warmer Oats – creamy oats topped with coconut sugar, pears, walnuts and honey. It was served on a board with a cute little milk jar on the side. The oats were a massive serve, a hearty breakfast made special with the addition of the beautiful honey and coconut sugar. I felt full right up until dinner time, and have been craving oats ever since.
