Came here for lunch on the recommendation of a few different friend specifically to try the chicken satay, also their recommendation. It was really good- both tasty and good looking food.
My lunch mate and I both had the satay with a side of roti- serves were exactly the same as you see. The chicken had been precooked but was charcoaly and delicious. The prawn cracker was interesting- thicker than the normal ones you get but I liked it.
The sauce was quite sweet, there was another sauce that the chicken was bedded on- I think that added to it. Small side cucumber salad cut through the creaminess of the sauce. I also found myself looking for more of the sliced chilli in the dish- that was nice, I'll order more next time.
At first I thought the roti was kind of small- photos show two serves. Normally I could eat all of that on my own- initially I thought the whole meal looked kind of small but it was deceiving and my eyes were greedy. Ended up having heaps of lunch leftover.
For a $13 curry it was insane bang of buck.
This place looks like it would be fun for dinner.
Love love love this restaurant! Thai with a modern twist. The dishes are all expertly crafted and pack a serious flavour punch. My favourite dish is the coconut beef ribs -sticky, sweet, melt in your mouth & served with a beautiful fresh salad + rice or roti. The red duck curry also boasts divine flavours and the pork belly Penang is gorgeous too. Get the share plates for great value. Their roti is always spot on and the restaurant has great ambience and a little bench overlooking the valley which is great for people watching! The staff are also very friendly. Have never had a bad meal here.

This is on another level! i couldn't believe when i paid $12.90 and out came the waitress with an exquisitely presented dish that i thought may have been for someone else. i thought to myself, if this dish is half as good as it looks, i will be winning, but alas tasted even better!

Delicious food, a semi-familiar venue (was a regular at Glass Bar 1.0) and the quality of the food v's the prices is amazing.
We had the 12 hr pork belly Penang curry, the dish was perfect, pork was melt in your mouth amazing. The level of spicy was perfect for me. But if you're a bit adverse to hot food maybe ask for it a little less spicy!!

I have been here for dinner before but their lunch menu is great! Personally I wish you could still order the lunch menu for dinner - I'd be there all the time!
Good value for money. Their AC system is unreal!! So pleasant to be in there on a hot day enjoying some great modern Thai food. The spicy Indonesian Satay chicken was nice. We waited a long time for it though but the chicken was charred and the sauce had so much flavour and was freshly made. I wish it came with a side salad to cut through the strong flavours. The coconut beef ribs are what they're known for. They fell off the bone and the sauce was the perfect balance of sweetness and spicy. That did come with a nice crisp salad and rice. Will be coming back for more ribs and will remember to order a side salad when getting the satay chicken.
Excellent Asian food with modern Australian influences. The beef rib is top notch, tender and flavourful. Also highly recommend the pork belly Penang curry which was rich and goes perfectly with rice. Service is average.
Every dish I have tried is better than the last but honestly you could just go to this restaurant for the roti bread. It is hands down the best roti in Brisbane due to the very light char and once you try it you will never want a naan bread again. Roti!!!!
This is a great place! We had the slow cooked ribs and the apple duck salad, and it was delish! This place has a very modern decor, dark and very well laid out. We came here on a Friday night before peak hour - and I'm glad we did! I would recommend this place for a great hole-in-the-wall date place. The food is fantastic, well priced and a great drinks menu. Thanks for the great experience!
A good little Thai influenced place. The pork belly Penang curry had a nice bite to it, the chicken wings full of flavor. Service is quick and friendly and lots of bar seats for those dining solo
Delicious !!! The cute yet simple interior makes this place unassuming but the meals are so tasty and cheap. For $15 you can get a meal with rice! The staff are more than happy to help and it will be a go to place from now on.
The coconut beef ribs were insanely good, they pulled apart SO easily and the sauces they came with sent me straight to heaven oh my lord.
The watermelon cocktail was really yummy too.
The Rogue Spice Canteen and Bar has opened at a new venue just a stone’s throw from its previous location (called, potentially confusingly, Rogue Spice Canteen), which was tucked around the corner from Brunswick Street, most visible as you went up Martin Street on the way to the Story Bridge. The new restaurant is much more prominent, on the ground floor of the Judith Wright Centre, its red neon logo catching the eye as you go up Brunswick Street.

Rogue Spice has ventured across the road and set up a new shop adjacent to the Judith Wright Centre. The new establishment has an industrial feel with high ceilings and open windows looking out on the bustling Brunswick street. Serving modern Asian hawker food, the menu that was so successful in their canteen has remained in place.
Definitely value for money, extremely good delicious beef ribs which would've have probably cost double down the road! … but it was hard to ignore the loud dance floor club music, dark coloured walls, red neon light at the door, incandescent internal lighting, inadequate lighting overall, shadows, and the unsettling huge painting of the tyrant Suharto up high on the wall. Will definitely visit again but not on a Friday evening with my young teenage daughter - will do a take away instead.
Small menu but delicious! Definitely recommend the coconut ribs - so good!!!

I couldn't fault my dish, if anything the salad dressing maybe a touch sweet but the fresh chilli balanced it out. Fresh, crunchy salad and probably the best beef rib I've ever had, even the rice was delicious. Portions were large and cheap at $15 per main. Byo with $2.50 pp corkage and the bottle shop across the road. I almost feel like gems like this are that good they won't stay the same for long. The panang pork belly, spicy with a delicate creamy coconut base but, the coconut beef rib was the star. Excellent job RSC, you will go far!

Rogue spice is great. I can clearly see they have gone for a very simple menu constructed of dishes and flavours from South Asia. It's like an upmarket Warung you'd find in Indonesia with canteen style service and a simplicity that is refreshing.
My only critcism is they use roti from a packet. C'mon Rogue Spice, everything else is really good please don't take a shortcut like this!!!
The cravings i have for this place are 10/10 can't even deal. I tried the Char grilled ribs, and suffice to say the fact I haven't been back since, is a total disgrace and I feel ashamed of myself.
I tried going back there before New Years but was so cut to see they weren't open at the time, and the bus ride home was the most disappointing commutes home I've ever made :(
I've already told my family about this place and hope sincerely they get the praise and publicity they deserve
Interesting place.. It isn't really one particular type of Asian cuisine, but uses flavours and cooking techniques of many. The results are pretty good. We had dinner here. Lunch looks to be better value (quite a difference in prices), but if you don't work nearby, lunch here is a bit hard to get to. We had the 12 hour slow cooked beef ribs, and the share plate with tempura soft shell crab and pork belly. Both were very tasty, and the meats were nicely cooked. The tempura crab had a crumb rather than the typical batter you get in most Japanese places that do it. It had a nice crunch to it, but kept the right texture on the inside.
My one gripe though, is that the extra roti ordered on the side was a rip off. $3.50 for what is essentially one small piece of roti cut into four is ridiculously expensive. (See photo. For scale, that is a small plate, side plate size.)
Service was rather curt.

If you're looking for a delicious alternative to longtime and of its kind; RSC is definitely the choice to consider.
We ordered the softshell/porkbelly dish, poached chicken salad, and a Indonesian yellow chicken curry.
Softshell crab here was amazing. The batter is so crunchy and light. The dressing on the green mango salad was acidic and complimented the sweet delightful star anise glaze they served it with. The most unforgettable part was the tender juicy porkbelly. It all went very well together and each component seasoned to perfection.
The poached chicken salad was light, had texture, and packed with flavour. I feel that I often don't come across poached chicken salads that are well seasoned like here. It was a great addition to the meal.
The curry was beautiful. The three things you want and hope for when getting a curry is balance of spices, richness, and depth of flavour from its long slow cooking process. I don't think it's necessary to say more than "spot on". Yup... Seconds please especially to wipe up the sauce again with its buttery rotti.
This restaurant would be great for both experienced and inexperienced dinners of Asian cuisine.
Hidden Gem in Fortitude Valley! Authentic Southern Asian, great value for money. Delicious meals, fast and friendly service. Highly recommend!
My wife & I dined here last night before going over the road to see a show. Pleasant casual dining and the lady on the counter was friendly and helpful. We shared a duck with apple salad and a coconut sorbet. Both excellent and quick service.

Such amazing food. It's so delicious you can't get enough. Reminds me of something you keep for a special occasion because you want to savour every bite.
As good as food gets... The Angus coconut beef ribs (tamarind glaze) melted off the bone with a glance.. 12 hr pork belly & soft crab shell also literally exploded like melted butter on the tounge... And the twice cooked chilli caramel duck (with green apple slaw) is still singing and zinging around my mouth, creating magic.... Laneway nook & prices... Gotta let this secret out...
This place knows whats up. Came with a group and felt like a nice cozy little place with great service. Food was superb and a little more then what we expected. Corkage is very reasonable considering what other outlets charge and with a bottle shop across the road you cant go wrong. This place is a gem and offers the quality and service every neighborhood needs.
Quite possibly the most surprising dinner we have had this year. There is no way one would expect this kind of quality of food to come from a small humble venue like this one. This is the real deal and should be compared with some of the best modern Asian establishments in the country. The prices are really to good to be true and i would not complain if they went up because the quality deserves it. The ribs are world class and pork belly softshell crab is no doubt a signature dish. These guys have a point of difference and hopefully move or expand to a bigger venue. Great staff great service and very professional.
Seriously delicious well priced food, enjoyed the Satay chicken dish which was spiced well and tasted great! (Priced around $10). You can't go wrong eating here. There is limited seating at the place so just be aware if your planning an outing.

Great dinner with friends from Asia. I highly recommend this restaurant for those who want to experience the Asian street foods. Absolutely amazing. Best place in town for great taste at affordable price. Will see you again soon.
Best food in Brisbane. This is seriously some of the best food I've had in Brisbane , cool chilled relaxed vibe, wonderful staff, this is like actually visiting South Asian , everything is fresh and vibrant ; you will make love to this food, and it is cheap as well; do yourself a favour and go there yesterday

I chose this place from the excellent reviews on urbanspoon and was not disappointed. The food is truly exceptional. An eclectic menu, a delicious blend of Asian flavours and lovely fresh ingredients. Generous portions and incredible value for money. This place is a tiny, casual venue with food that surprises with it's sophistication. We will definitely return.
Had lunch today and have to say AMAZING. pork belly and soft shell crab sensational. As was the coconut beef short rib. They were busy due to a catering event tonight and we were little early. So glad went for a walk and came back. Looking forward to trying rest of the menu. YUUUUUM
Fantastic everytime!. I eat at Rogue Spice at least once a week. It is my favourite place for what I like to call 'fancy' Asian in the valley. Great taste, great service. The Wednesday $10 meal special is great value! The portion sizes are large and value for money is off the charts. Personal favourite are the char grill coconut beef ribs but I feel like you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I highly recommend Rogue Spice!
Busy little hub. My wife and I had dinner here on wednesday night and we're lucky enough to get the last two seats. The place was buzzing and clearly the staff were in overdrive with a line snaking out the front door. We opted for yellow curry and beef ribs. Ribs were like butter and the curry had real depth and balance, Char grilled roti was flaky and crispy and we can't recall ever seeing it done this way, nice touch. For a full house the food came out very quickly and presentation was fantastic. Great friendly staff, very cool music and a very cool little neighborhood joint. We will be regulars.
The new standard for take out. We went to Rogue Spice Canteen after hearing the boys in our office go on and on about the curry and a special lunch deal they have every Wednesday. I have to say I am a little jealous that I didn't find this place first, amazing food, fantastic presentation and one handsome tall chef in uniform. The boys can go on about the curry we girls just need to know if the chef is available for takeaway. Back to the food now, pork belly with softshell crab is something special, penang pork belly was perfectly balanced and beef ribs as my work colleague put it was the best he has ever eaten but to be fair he drooled over the chef as well. What a great little place but slightly secluded so make sure you don't miss it, look out for the Red Dragon or the gorgeous tall chef in uniform. Will be back for more.

Went in for a quick lunch with a friend we ordered the pork belly Penang curry, Satay chicken and the cocnut beef ribs food was amazing and very well priced, had a decent amount of spice , beef ribs were a stand out for me!
The food came out quickly the service was prompt & friendly and the staff were very helpful with the menu

Limited menu with hipster style. It might limited but it is excellent. I have tried all the mains and I am still going back. New premises are great with ample seating and a\c. Decent prices as well. Well done guys

Wow. Amazing food and really good prices. They did not have a liquor license yet so accepted byo at the time.
