Cheap good lebanese eats! I'm with everyone else here, don't come for the service come for the food. I fresh veggie filled lamb kebab is $5! They don't take card though, so make sure you bring cash.
The food here is genuine Lebanese made with passion. There are a lovely displays in the cabinets- in particular the sweets cabinet where my eyes were quickly averted to the bridal fingers. Doused in finely ground pistachio they melt in the mouth delicately. The food is rustic in appearance & comes in generous serves & bargain priced
Cheap tasty eats. A bit of a cash only dive with half clean tables awaits you. The service is OK depending on who serves you. You might get the whole experience of the parents address in. Don't come for the service, cleanliness, or the ambiance of the open to a busy road. Come for the food.

Kebabs are generously dense, all prepared ingredients are house-made, authentic and delicious, unlike most modern chinese-run kebab shops serving frozen ingredients.

Bad service is definitely part of the experience here, it's hilariously terrible!But totally worth it for such great healthy fresh food. Best falafel kebab in town. Meat is also really well prepared. Can BYO in dining area. Excellent value for money. Can also order tubs of their hommus to take away.
Friendly family run eatery that serves decent food at such an amazing price. We ordered the lamb kebabs which is a lamb mince with sprouts, tomato, lettuce on Lebanese bread for only $5.50.
The staff are sometimes grumpy, the place is kind of dirty and you have to ask for cheese and chilli 2 or 3 times if you get the old lady serving you, and you still might not get it on your falafel kebab. But I love this joint.
Nothing fancy, but just really tasty Lebanese food. Get a few of the platters (vego or meat), they all come with falafel and hummus and throw in a few vine leaves and extra dips.... $10-15 a head will fill you!

You get cheap smallish kebabs that are salady and delicious with the option of babaganouj. The sweets are also ace, the stuff in the hotbox is hit and miss. This place is a Brisbane institution.

Boy does this place crack me up. Remember the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld? The old guy behind the counter at King Ahirams gives him a run for his money and could well be the best thing about this much loved local institution.
The kebabs definitely aren't the best in Brisbane however they are the cheapest. So if you're after a filling $5 lunch/snack/hangover cure then you're at the right place. If you expect clean tables, friendly service or sleek surroundings you should steer clear.
Best thing on the menu? The falafel is good - golden and crunchy on the outside, moist and fresh in the middle. Yum. My personal favourite are the spinach and feta triangles and I go there specifically for them. Greasy, garlicky, earthy and bloody delicious - so unlike the tasteless, dried out filo ones you get on function platters. You also have to try the lentil, onion and rice dish which is on the big platter in the hotbox. So good! I've even bought big takeaway containers of it to take home and have with lamb or chicken for dinner. Should learn how to make it myself but really why bother when it's so yum and so cheap. Really hope this place stays just the way it is.
Fresh, delicious and cheap - the quick meal trifecta. The rolls are still the best value food in Brisbane and the quality is always consistent. Over the years The fallafel roll with added tabbouleh and eggplant has gotten me through long nights studying and more recently long nights walking around with a colicky baby in a sling. You honestly can't go wrong with anything they serve.

Four Dollars. There's only 2 things I like about West End and that's Cheap Food and Cheap Food! Couldn't tell you how long this Lebanese place has been here but I think about 15years or more. And you can still get a meal for around $5 or less. For me it's either a Vegetarian or Lamb Kebab from here, across the road for some Indian Kitchen or around the corner for Jackpot Noodle. You can't go wrong!
My Go To For Lunch. I used to work in West End and I would regularly get a felafel wrap from this delicious Lebanese eatery. Don't expect service with a smile or a nicely decorated cafe; this place is all about cheap eats and addictive food, which is really what West End is all about Tip: ask for chili with your wrap!
Quick cheap honest eats. Can't go wrong with a wrap from here. Both the falafel and lamb wraps are awesome. Falafel tasty, not dry, generous amount in a wrap for $4. Lamb in the wraps has nice seasoning and isn't the crappy shaved doner meat at other places that sometimes resembles a can of chum on a rotisserie. Go for the extras - stuff some rice chilli and eggplant in your wrap! The other bites on offer are good too. There are a lack of these types of places around in Brissy...Being a West End local I'm blessed to live close to these guys!

King Ahiram - West End, Brisbane. This has been a classic place to go to for years, being one of the originals in Brisbane for authentic and exotic cuisine outside the then staples. It stands partially as a time capsule from decades past, with the sign to it having the eight-digit phone number and showing no sign of any upgrade since. People know well about this place especially the local residents. It is as far from fine dining as you can get.
There are a number of setbacks that must be overcome to fully enjoy this place, and it would not be the same if it were otherwise. Your milage may vary, but when I was here there was a somewhat surly attitude with service (although the girl was proficient). From hearsay though, it is a lucky dip. King Ahiram also does not have any atmosphere - it is almost like sitting in a rock enclave, everything is bare to the street - and the pidgeons seem to have this be their place of choice.
The food here will feed you well; the sizes are substantial and it is all very bloody cheap. For what was literally still single digit dollars, I got a falafel kebab, a meat-filled lady finger and - for a bit of sweets afterwards - a bridal finger (I attempted to get a Lebanese coffee, but they were out of it, which was a bummer). For what it is worth that is a rarity in modern times. However, there is one key reason for why this has endured many administrations and that is because the food is fantastic.
Part of it might be the overall cheap price, it could also be influenced by the serving size as well but this was one really delicious and satiating bite for lunch. The kebabs are filled with generous amounts - I am talking mouthfuls - of lettuce, tomato, cheese, hummus and tabouhli amongst the falafels. I asked for quite a bit of chili on it and it did not disappoint. The falafels were cooked really well and maintained the needed grease. They also had a slightly smokey under- and after-taste to them which made them all the better.
While the kebabs are probably the mainstay of the place - we all know why that is - to experience the great street food of Lebabon, one has to try the pastries both savoury and sweet. The lady finger was delicious, especially the inside that had a complex spice masala mixed into the lamb mince. The bridal finger acted as sort of a mini-baklava; it still had honey on it but it was not saturated.
Seeing plenty of restaurants - good and bad - come and go, this is one that is still standing recognisable as it has ever been and shows no sign of going away. I would not want it to, as cheap Middle Eastern that is actually good and relatively healthy is hard to find. There has always been more than one place for here, and it hits all the right notes for whenever. It is an institution unto itself.
Best Falafel Rolls in Brisbane. With the basic falafel roll at $4 you can afford to ask for extras ... eg tabouleh, eggplant, special hummus, pickles etc. Chilli sauce is complementary ... donât miss out on this ... itâs made fresh everyday and is simply the best. Donât be put off by negative comments on service ... itâs a 2 way street ... I eat here daily and have found being polite and courteous will always result in good service.

What a delightful place! i get felafel rolls here several times a week. for a real treat, why not have some grilled eggplant added to your felafel with extra chilli? support this family business- the only place a poor student or crusty west end hippy can afford to snack at.
It's all about the Spinach. Spinach pie, Spinach and feta triangle, Spinach and Lentil pie and Falafal Role. that's it, u need not order anything more or anything else off the menu, nicely priced and perfect for when you're in a hurry to grab a quick bit. it's super value and super taste.

Delicious, hearty food with a lovely home made feel and a a fantastic price. You don't come here for the atmosphere of the restaurant or the service. Purely for mouth-watering, fresh and authentic Lebanese food. An absolute must try!

Best lebanese food in bris. I am lebanese and my mum has been taking me here for 10 years when she's not cooking it herself. Always amazing, always a great selection and the quality of the food itself is outstanding, so many people have no idea what goes into this or could pull it off themselves.
Go there with a light attitude and ready to sit in a slightly outdated eating area. You're not there for the service, you go there for the food.
Hands down the best value meal in West End, service always friendly but certainly suffer no fools. Ambience is variable depending on time of day - recommend a takeaway felafel any time though.
Value Plus but No Frills. You go here for the excellent Lebanese food and the great value for money, not the ambiance or service. Great spot for West End people watching especially if you take the footpath tables. Order at the counter (take away or eat in) and find a table. Staff will deliver the order to your table but don't expect them to fuss over you because they won't - not unfriendly but definitely no frills service. BYO - help yourself to the glasses in the dining area if you want any.

Service is poor, however i have grown accustomed to it now and think it is quite funny, and joke about it with people I introduce their.

I ordered the felafel kebab and despite tasting all kinds of eclectic flavours (including bean sprouts and possibly cheap salsa), i would probably order it again. the felafel itself is pretty good, and it's just a great cheap and tasty option.

update: i've since tried the lamb and beef kebab. i always assumed that lamb was inherently better than beef, however at this place the beef kebab is so much better seasoned. i'm a renewed fan.

Best Lebanese Food. I love this place. The best chicken/beef/falafel kebab you can get if you are a truecore arabic/lebanese/turkish food lover. This shop serves the authentic marinated meats on their kebabs. I have always loved their food.
And the best part of this restaurant for me is the desserts. Just try one piece of "baklava". I am pretty sure you will have some take aways after that ;)
Easy peasey tasty Lebanese. King Ahiram is more of a take out but it does have a few tables and chairs on the street and in a side room if you would like to dine in. We would recommend going straight to the counter to order if you do decide to dine in as the table next to us didn't and they waited a very long time for service. The $10 meat platter had hummus, baba ganoush, lamb shish, kofte, tabbouleh and falafel. The $13 deluxe meat platter had all the same components and additionally dolma, cabbage roll, and a couple of pastries. Tasty baba ganoush and hummus were the highlight, while the extra components on the deluxe were all OK but nothing stand out. The meat was cooked well, and had good flavour. These platters were served with a side of Lebanese bread. We will be back for the value and more middle eastern flavours.
So cheap but watch the chilli! It can get pretty hot!

One of the cheapest places to eat in brisbane. Awesome falafel roll for 3.50 and lamb shish for 4.50. Can not get a more budget friendly lunch in Brisbane.
Hilariously bad service. The absolute worst service you can get! The workers are surly. They never smile. If you eat in - you'd better not ask for water, extra pita bread or (how dare you!) plates. Most times we've been there we've basically had to beg for service.
BUT it doesn't even matter, the food is THAT good and THAT cheap that we don't care. Love, love, love their falafels, babaganoush, the hommous, the grilled eggplant, BOTH the vegetarian and the Mixed platters. And you can feed everyone till they are stuffed for about $13 a head (including drinks).
So i recommend it if you're just doing takeaway - or can find it in you to see that the service is just a hilarious part of the King Ahiram's dining experience.
Great Value. Some of the cheapest middle eastern food in Brisbane. Very good value for money.
I heard this place had the best falafel in town from one of my patients, although that being said, his uncle was the owner so I was a bit dubious. I regularly have a massage in West End at the wonderful Skeletal Harmonics, so I was in the area to check it out. For $4 a falafel roll, it wasn't anything that was going to break my budget if I had it. Jesus Christ, it was one of the best falafels I've ever eaten. You get about eight densely packed, super crunchy falalel with bright green insides from the parsley, pine nut and chickpea mixture that isn't too stodgy but remains very light and moist, all in one roll. The rest of the roll isn't anything fancy with some lebanese wraps, bean sprouts, grated carrot, shredded lettuce and some hummus spread across the bread to round things out, but its a thick and generously portioned roll for the cheap price of $4. Since that one faithful day I tried it, I have not looked back and every time I get a massage, I buy myself some of these falafels as

Wow, if you want a decent feed at an incredible price, THIS is where you need to head. Food made with only the skill of true authenticity. This place has been open and operating for 60+ years, the variety, look and taste of the offerings was super.
This place is cash only, that being said it's super frugal, with prices from 75c... YEP 75 CENTS!
Serving size is super generous and filling - kebabs are not the traditional known stuck meat, this is made to order, fresh and fragrant.
This guy is the most unfriendly man I have ever met. It looked like he was ready to explode and jump over the counter to take both myself and son out. Naturally what I expected next was overpriced dodgy food. The place looked like it had been around for a while. After making it out of the place alive we dug into the falafel wrap which was accommodated with the most untraditional vegetables imaginable. Amazingly it worked and this guy knows it. This guy is a king with food. When your food is that good and your prices are even better. You have every right to treat your customers as you please. If they donât like it they can always go somewhere the service is much better. Like McDonaldâs they have great customer service and are happy to take eftpos. Iâm sure they will introduce falafel wrap on their menu soon. Grumpy old man you made our day, so happy I tried your food. Will be back for some amazing food and entertainment soon.
Best value food in Brisbane and it isn't even close. They really need to get eftpos happening though. I tried to go there 2 days in a row and forgot I didn't have cash. Still, really shouldn't complain, it's a Brisbane icon.
