Great value and really tasty. We went for the all you can eat yum cha brunch, and it was delicious. Only $20 a head too! Also, the listing is incorrect, there is alcohol available for purchase, but I don't think there's BYO
I've eaten at King Tea three times now and each and every time I have left sated and wanting more. No idea what they do to the cauliflower but I can't get enough. Consistently good in both service and taste this is fast becoming a main stay for dining out. The vego and vegan options are excellent. I'll be back again....and again....and..you get the idea.
I came here last week with a mate for the $20 vegan banquet and it was wonderful! We got 5 different dishes - highlights for me were the eggplant and the tofu dishes but they were all great.
The staff were really nice and the food came pretty quickly so no complaints.
We can’t wait to come back! So many good vegan options and everything was so damn tasty. We got the sweet and sour tofu, beans with tofu mince, kung pao cauliflower and vegan fried rice. Such a good combination but maybe too much for two people, haha.
The place has a really good atmosphere and is in a really nice spot too.
They do banquet nights too!

Continuing my quest to eat all the food along Latrobe Street, Paddington, we found ourselves there yet again, this time not for brunch but for an early dinner at the long established King Tea, which boasts Modern Chinese with Sichuan influences, not usually going out too much for Chinese food, I was keen to try.
delicious vegan options and very welcoming staff !!!!! beautiful restaurant and location as well. We order two mains and an entree and they were at our table in less than 15 minutes 🥰🥰🥰

I was so surprised at how tasty the food was. The menu has a wide variety and also very vegetarian and vegan friendly. We got the pork ribs, kung pao cauliflower, douban eggplant, fried rice. Every single menu we ordered were lovely. The pork ribs were tender and sweet but not overpowering even after a couple of bites. The eggplant was not soggy and well-seasoned. The standout was the cauliflower though. It was absolutely perfect.
We could not go pass visiting again on weekend for yum cha and was so blown away with how amazing it was. Highly recommend the Bacon, egg & cheese dumpling and pancakes which was presented well and tasted amazing. Don’t forget to try the best xiao long bao I ever had.
Service was friendly and super helpful. Jacky our server was efficient and definitely knows the menu. I love how he was able to introduce us each menu item we ordered. The whole place looks and feels really comfortable. We were happy to be seated on street side outdoor seating, enjoying sunshine. We comfortably spent hours there.
Just had my second visit to king tea. Better than the last which was excellent! The food was spot on: prawn toast outstanding, san Choy bow - best I’ve eaten (and I’ve been eating it for 40 years) and the 8 year old says best friend rice ever. Service is friendly, knowledgeable and efficient . Great wine list. Couldn’t fault the dinner.
Groovy venue & delicious fresh Chinese food. There's a few things that need ironing out. Venue was hot inside - no open windows, kitchen nearby - need to crank up the air conditioning on a Brisbane summer night. Wait staff really struggled on busy night - all of the people on the floor need to understand the menu. Regular banquet is fantastic & a lot of food, vegan banquet is mainly vegetables so not a great bargain. I'd go back to this one.
We had such an enjoyable lunch for 6 here today! All plates were cooked perfectly and bursting with flavour! Pot stickers, vege dumplings, pancakes, roast duck, pork ribs, eggplant, kung po chicken and fried rice. Our tastebuds were in heaven and not one fault with any dish! Massive depth of flavour and much tastier than your typical Chinese fare - love the Szechuan flavours! Attentive service, meals came quickly and a great atmosphere. We will be back for sure, soon!
We were enticed to try King Tea based on a Facebook post about the restaurant doing a monday $20 Vegan Special. After a couple of weeks trying to find a time where we were free and we could also get an available booking we got the chance to try them out. I must say that it was well worth the wait, the staff were all very friendly and the service was very very quick. Each course (please see all the pictures) was cooked very well and left us quite full at the end. The Decor was quite unique and not similar to traditional Chinese food establishments which was welcome. I will certainly go back!
Yummy food...the Kung Po Chicken was awesome. Service was very slow to start...took 20mins to get a bottle of wine and when I followed up I was told they were busy making cocktails which I found rather confusing...it wasn’t that busy...would go back for the food though
There’s some super awesome tastes here that you can only get from 5 foot high wok flames. Still correlating the conversion of this place from spanish tapas bar to pan asian eatery but big feels for the current incantation.
Never had black pepper beef before that had both rare steak and a full pepper flavour. Tick & tick! The 1k layer pancake with mushroom XO sauce was crispy pancake shroomy heaven. The menu is succinct, food is on the whole commendable & the space is relaxing, enhanced by a classic playlist. All punters were enjoying it when we dropped by on a lazy Saturday arvo.
Jackie & his team will bend over backwards to keep patrons happy which is why we’ll support the new $20 all you can eat Sunday dim sum venture too - a concept we’re told is an evolving work in progress. Whatever it brings, we wish them all the best.

Have been to this place a few times, a couple when it was tapas and a couple now that it's turned into a Chinese restaurant (kinda weird they didn't change the name??). In any case, the spanish food was awesome and the chinese food is literally best-in-Brisbane status..
Having said that...
I went to their $20 all you can eat dim sum Sunday, and it was definitely not their best effort. The place was packed well beyond what it should have been for the staff that were on at the time.
Food was painfully slow, drinks weren't much better.
People were getting visibly snarky and in some cases, just completely rude despite the visibly full restaurant.
You could see the staff were over their heads, but throughout, their service (when we got it) was still completely gracious.
Why 5 stars then? Seriously their food on their regular menu is out of this world good and the staff are genuinely excellent every other time I've been.
Get it together on the Sundays, or ditch them if you can't handle them. But keep doing the rest of what you do so well.
Fabulous restaurant! Amazing staff and incredible food! We had a table of 20 and the food came out very quickly, and the staff were completely on the ball with making sure everyone had drinks, food etc. The cater to vegans, vegetarians, dairy free, gluten and wheat free so it covers all bases!
The food was amazing, so fresh and tasty. Would highly recommend. Service was superb, our waiter was super friendly. Will be recommending to friends 😊.
Delicious duck pancakes and sweet and sour pork! The sweet and sour pork was an absolute standout dish. I’d also highly recommend the pork dumplings as a starter. Extremely friendly wait staff and a cool looking restaurant.
Amazing food (I could eat the pork belly every day), a fun interpretation of modern Chinese.

Let me just say one thing: this place is el terrifico. You know that feeling you get when you bite into something new and you actually get a hot flush? Like something moved downstairs? That's exactly what I got.
I've never been "moved" by a dish, but their patatas bravas had me weak.
10/10 but this damn app doesn't allow me to do more than 5.... bloody shame.
Loved the drinks and what a selection at that, truly the beginnings of an institution!
Love it! I always have a good time at King Tea. Service is perfect, food delicious and the atmosphere really suits a relaxed evening out. Will definitely be back for more.
Phenomenal food, awesome wine menu... I normally stay away from blends but the waitress has me try one and I was blown away (called Koerner). All of the food was truly unique and incredibly flavoursome, had a sweet playlist in the background and the rustic concrete walls was everything I want in a tapas restaurant/bar. Not a venue you should pass on!
Have been to King Tea a few times now with different friends - awesome atmosphere, great service and the best patatas bravas I've had in a long time. Have tried mostly vegetarian dishes and they seem to be improving the menu quite regularly which I like a lot. Excellent choice of wine too- I'll definitely be back.
First up, I'll admit we didn't eat here. Tapas for dinner just isn't my thing. But what I will say is that as a bar, these guys have pulled it off perfectly. It's a deceptively large venue, and we were lucky we got in before 6 as it would have been hard to get a seat. It's a great line up to the Given/Latrobe precinct, and if first weeks are anything to go by, they're onto a winner!
Went to this place for dinner , ironically they do not serve tea but rosè wine was nice . We had ordered the pork belly which was delicious ! Juicy and crunchy with the right balance of apple sauce , the blood sausage was a little average but still tasty , char grilled vegetables were a hit with me , but mostly I was impressed with the cauliflower half, it came with a white sauce and what tasted like pesto all over it . Also the desert was like a Creme brûlée pretty satisfying .
The service was quick and our waiter was very friendly !
We returned because it is a local for us and always want to support the locals. The food was delicious (less sticky and cloying as Chinese can sometimes tend to be). Will return to try other things on the menu. Like that they have early dining menus and banquet options. Services was really friendly and professional. Love the decor and the vibe.

King Tea is one of our favourite places to eat in Brisbane! The food is always incredible, the service is great and it’s really good value for money. The eggplant is my favourite thing on the menu but honestly everything is delicious! The banquet is especially good as you get to try everything and it’s amazing value for money.
Service was great. Took my girlfriend here on a whim dressed very casually and was treated like any other guest. Food was fantastic although not as spicy as 2 chilli symbols deserves. The man serving us who I believe to be the manager or possibly owner had an extensive knowledge of the wine list and chose a nice one to pair with sweet/sour chicken for my girlfriend. Great place. The tea was also very nice. Will be back with more people!
Fantastic service and food, manager was a good laugh and knew the menu like the back of his hand. Came back for takeaway the next day.
Only criticism i have is that the food came out a bit quick not really giving time to finish the entree
Always fantastic service and the most delicious food at King Tea. Our group needs vegan and gluten free options and they have so many delicious dishes to choose from, and always ask if there are any allergies. Can't recommend King Tea highly enough!
