Here we have one of the long-timers in southern Brisbane, Thai Tasty Kitchen working with over 40 years of experience making affodable, wholeomse and straightforward Thai cuisine. This would definitely be one of those reliable choices when in need of something. Well, my big sister was staying over for a few days, and one night she had arranged delivery to the door for dinner. Going through all the options and finding something new, she settled on here. Just logging it into a food delivery service, it was all a manner of waiting for it to come and it did in an efficient manner.
This is getting a while ago as well, so some of the items might be incorrect or there could be a few that I am missing. Therefore, take what is here as a basic guideline for what was ordered and delivered to the door. Anyways, before going on the menu is more or less what is to be expected. There is a range of entrees to begin, and with these for once half orders are able to be gotten (i.e. instead of "4" spring rolls, "2" can be gotten). They also have soups, curries, the noodle and rice dishes, and salads along with several chef's suggestions (several of which have duck meat in them). Going onto the second page, they have a stir fried selection. If you have enough people, a banquet can be in order. In other words, nothing other than what you would expect is on the menu.
Getting back to what was ordered, one thing that is definitely not from vauge memory was a beef massamum curry. This is because whenever a family member of mine is there with Thai food, it is always a go-to order; they like it that much and I cannot blame them to be honest. This one was particularly good. It had all that was needed - tender cooked beef, solid potato that was well steamed and a thick curry that was flavoured brilliantly - never too spicy, akin to a thick beef gravy, and definitely with distinct tastes throughout. It still proves itself to be a mainstay with ordering Thai food for some time to come.
When it came to asking me what dish looked great to me, I was all for a "Pad Kee Mao" with pork, or as they called it - spicy fried noodles. Along with the choice of meat, these were flat rice noodles cooked with egg, fresh chili, onion, green beans and fresh basil. It was tasty. The pork meat was good, a well-chosen cut, plus the basil and chilli was pepper throughout the stir-fried noodles giving it a spicy and sharp taste. The beans were crunchy, the egg done well and mixed like an omelet plus it was a substantial serving.
This may or may not have been ordered, but I do recall a chicken curry getting there into the mix. It might have either been a red or chicken curry, but in honesty I would struggle to distinguish without looking it up what the key differences between the two are. Regardless, if it was a chicken curry, the meat was a tender thigh cut, with big bits of it thrown in a creamy base that had crisp vegetables. Again, one more reliable dish that is certain to be ordered a number more times.
I am glad to have another reliable Thai place within my local area. This one has been in the area longer than I have, so it is pretty impressive that somehow I had not gotten to it by now. Regardless, even among such a reliable cuisine with so many good options it still manages to showcase a number of notable strengths, with impressive quality, generous portions and simply being really tasty. Thai Tasty Kitchen definitely gets a good recommendation from me, and perhaps even some more visits to come in the future.
Tasty Thai!. As per the name, tasty Thai food with generous serving!
Value for Money - Food Fresh and Tasty. I have been to Thai Tasty several times and never had a bad meal there. The food is fresh and tasty and one of the best Thai places I've been too. Great value for money and it BYO which is great. Staff are always warm and friendly and go out of their way to help and assist you. All in all fantastic!!!
Was nervous after reading negative reviews but am very impressed, fantastic service and excellent food. I used to go to Thai Tasty religiously when I lived in Greenslopes a few years ago. When I saw their groupon for 4 ppl i thought it would be a great excuse to give them a visit at their new shop. I am pleased to see the original owners are still in operation and the food is just as fabulous as I remembered. I have been to every Thai restaurant between Greenslopes and Tamborine and I can't find better. I can say I had the most friendly, attentive service, the girls were polite and kept the cold water topped up without being asked, and cleared plates when we needed more room. We were there for just over an hour and this included the 3 courses, which i am pleased to say were full, generous serves; they certainly did not scrimp on account of the Groupon voucher. I cannot see how someone would have a bad experience coming here, and I can only rave about the food and service, and will definitely be making the trip down from Tamborine mountain to return again soon. Thank you Thai Tasty, you are definitely my #1.
Like it!!!. Passed by this small Thai restaurant with clean and cozy ambience so walked in and tried out a few dishes; chicken satay, stir fried fish with tamarind sauce with steamed rice, and black sticky rice with ice-cream. They were great!!!
if you pass by or live in the area, I would highly recommend these dishes.
See you again soon...
Good food and great service. My husband and I went last night for dinner. We used a voucher. This is our 2nd time using voucher within a month. We went the 1st time and found the food was good so as the service. Only they didn’t have one of the entrées that we wanted. But that was ok because they had lots of choices. Also, they were all big entrees. Because of good experience, we bought the 2nd voucher. This time we chose totally different dishes and again we were not disappointed. But again there was still something they didn’t do it good – they mixed up our orders. But they corrected it quickly. We were supposed having 2 serves of coconut rice, they gave us another serve after one of the waitresses saw my husband almost finished his bowl. I think they wanted to compensate the mistake they made – very nice gesture. I’m quite surprised for the bad experience other diners had. For us, we’ll definitely go back with or without vouchers.
I dined here on a weeknight and what was lacking in customer service, was by far made up for in quality of the meals. The red duck curry was amazing. Plus I received 10% off for checking in on Facebook. I will be returning.
This place has had a face lift. it used to be cheap and cheerful, standard Thai now it's more expensive but big improvement in quality. definitely recommend
Very Good!. Excellent food, and exceptional service! Definitely will be back!
Good food but Service is TERRIBLE. Food is great but I am not sure whether it is worth the wait for a few dishes. They need to pick their act up otherwise I can see their clientelle going elsewhere.I have returned quite a few times only because the chef cooks well but am getting less patient each time when I see that nothing has changed. Maybe employ another cook????? and get another waitress as well.
Really nice, tasty food at a great price. Only let down by extremely poor service and constant menu outages. A great meal if you don't mind waiting 40 minutes.
Favourite Thai takeaway. My favourite place for Thai take way. Food always tasty and delicious
Friendly service and food is always outstanding. My pick for local dining.
Awesome Thai. Love the Thai here, especially the yellow curry... Extremely reasonable prices, great for takeaway!
Went here the other night and staff are friendly and the service was amazing, the food was delicious and I can’t wait to order from them again. I would love to see the place get cleaned up a bit more and a possible change of decor(just a personal preference)? But either way amazing food!
I’ve been going to Thai Tasty for years now and the dishes I get are always great and full of flavour. Ill definitely be sticking around!
