My second visit to this historic tea room. Fabulous value high tea $50 including glass of bubbly. Great special birthday for my mums 86th birthday.

The quality and the charm is no longer here. They have gone casual. The waitress do not have their small caps and white aprons. Paper napkins have taken over the linen ones etc. it has lost its charm just another cafe now. We won’t return in the past we dined here when we came to the city. Loved the old atmosphere and charm

Service was incredibly slow. We had pre-booked 4 adult high teas and 1 child's high tea. 3 of the adult high teas had dietary requirements. Staff brought drinks out and after a long wait, the high tea platters. 2 of the dietary requirements were wrong which resulted in myself and my friend becoming unwell afterwards. The child's high tea platter was brought out last after a lengthy delay. Not great to make a 4yr old wait when everyone else has their food.
Staff weren't available to ask questions about the platter and our dietary requirements or to order any further drinks. Overall, a poor experience.
I emailed Shingle Inn head office a couple of days after our dining experience to provide feedback and despite me following it up last week and being assured someone would contact me, I still haven't had an resolution.
EDITED TO ADD: 24/01/2022 - I still haven't received a follow up response from Shingle Inn Head Office and the voucher they offered to send has never been received. I also suggested in my email that they made adjustments to the wording on their website to advise that not all dietary requirements are catered for, the current wording is misleading for those with dairy allergies.

A quiet & old-style restaurant located inside City Hall. Food is yummy, beyond my expectations. Tourists can also attend Clock Tower & City Hall tour after meals. Tours are free of charge, but booking is essential.

My mother and myself enjoyed a lovely high tea today at the Shingle Inn City Hall. The sandwiches were fresh, scones were delicious so too the lovely cakes and tarts. A big thank you to Maram who made our high tea experience extra special.

Cute cafe with nostalgic charm. We only had scones with champagne and coffee and it tastes lovely. The bright lights in the 2seats cabinets were a bit annoying and that it wasn’t really clear if we can pay at the table or on the way out. The sparking in the scones combo was particular nice and will Pass by for another round for sure.

Loved the Devonshire Tea and pumpkin soup. Large menu with options for boths grown ups and kids. The avocado and chicken crepe stack lacked a bit of flavor and was quite fatty. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Definitely worth visiting if you want a different kind of experience as the place being the oldest cafe in Brisbane with all the interior and details from the 1930's.

Food is just pretty bland tbh, service lacked a People person. Egg was cold. Service got the order wrong. Would recommend if they fixed some small things, such as cooking and service.
