Drove past this cafe the other day and promised myself to check it out soon. Kept my promise to go there this morning.
Although it only allow take away orders, it is still busy from the supports bu the regulars.
My order of ham and cheese croissant was a home-made one. Although the texture was different from a traditional one, it was not bad at all. Coffee kept its consistent standard. No wonder the COVID-19 does not hit it hard. 👍

A cute trendy little cafe with a delicious menu! Loved their Greek lamb wraps! Yum yum! Will be back.
Avo on toast. My go to breaky choice. So im quiet picky. Esher st you got it right. They didnt drown it with feta. You could still taste the Avo. The coffee was done nicely too.
Nice place, it's quiet! Perfect to have a good conversation. Also, their food is quite delicious and the staff is friendly. I highly recommend this cafe.
I really like the avo smash here, and the serving size is generous for the price which is quite reasonable in comparison to most others in the area. The back deck area is a shabby chic style, its interesting but not the most comfortable. Coffee was very nice and the service is pretty good. All up - I've quite enjoyed the couple times I've been here, I'm sure I'll be back again :)
We had breakfast in this cafe. I like the little area in the back of the cafe which is simple and nice. I won’t recommend sitting inside the cafe unless you enjoy heterocyclic amines.
Staff are very nice and service was very fast.
Coffee was nice but not my favourite. Nothing bad about it, only the type of the bean.
Food was nice.
First time here. I Went for a late breakfast. It was very quiet on my visit. Not a fan of pay when you order but it's what they do. The food was ok. I ordered the avo & feta smash with smoked salmon and grilled haloumi with a large soy Chai latte. Cost me $27.50 pretty skimpy with the avocado and feta as well as the dukka , I thought it was on the expensive side. However , The decor is pretty cool, Recycled pallets transformed into furniture. Definitely worth a revisit.

Revisit :
I thought I would pop in today for breakfast and it was way better than my previous visit .
Zen was a lovely young lady who served me.
My food was pretty good, way better than my first time , which was over 3-1/2months ago. Now up to 4 stars. Great service. Nice food. Cost me $31 inc my large soy chai Latte.
Thanks very much. SARDS
Delicious funky breakfast. It's a tiny cafe next door to a pet shop in a stand alone building on Escher St.
Quirky interesting decor, eat in or outside under cover. We had the delicious signature breakky and coffee, yum. Quick efficient service and it was busy!
Came here with entertainment book. love sitting outdoor hearing the birds singing while eating and they got a kid zone so yea baby-friendly cafe. oh and the serving is huge too. love the "huevos rancheros" here
All I can say is this place is the BOMB. Food is amazing, always good servings for your money, never can eat it all, yummy 😋 the coffee is their own house special blend, & is just the best around, I always, always get a second cup to go, it's just the best most smooth, creamy, & sweet coffee, can't find anything else like it anywhere. Just love sitting out the back in the relaxed garden dining area. I could sit there all day, & love ❤️ love the staff. Friendly family atmosphere, & kid & dog friendly. I can highly recommend this place.
This is one of my local favs. Tried the raspberry flan which had a lovely texture - not too heavy. The addition of pomegranate coupled with the raspberries gave a nice sharpness and cut the sweetness. The coffee had a bit of a burnt taste to it but that's not the norm. Love the chilled setting out the back and the staff are always friendly with nothing being too much trouble.
Cute little cafe, love the outdoor garden set up. Really good atmosphere. Staff seemed to lack knowledge and communication. Girl taking our order seemed very confused and didn't really listen. Got a few things on our order wrong eg. Asked if i wanted juice in glass or takeaway cup, i said glass and it came out takeaway. The menu says that the lambsie comes on either sourdough or pita and i asked for sourdough but it came out on pita. I told the waitress what happened but that I'd still eat it but she dismissively said well we don't have sourdough pita (i know that because that's not a thing). So the girl taking orders should have told me that it only comes on pita? Not a huge deal but when lots of little things go wrong it makes a big difference. I think $4 for add ons is a bit too expensive for things like mushroom and tomato - fine for bacon/sausages but they shouldn't all be $4. I'd definitely go back here - food was delicious and drinks were yummy too. Just need to work on customer service and communication between staff.
Best banana smoothie I have ever had!! So good, also had a piece of banana bread with butter. The banana bread was very rich and I could not finish it. The seating out the back is very cute. However, my piece of banana bread and the two other meals that my friends ordered took over 45 mins to come out.
This is my new regular breakfast place
What can I say, I got the Esher breakfast, & it was cooked to perfection, just a great start to my day, not just lots of helpings but tasted great as well, it was cooked to perfection, my poached eggs were perrrrfect, soft & not too runny, so when you cut them, there is this lovely gooey runny yolk, I loved the maple bacon, & fried haloumi, herbed mushrooms, avocado, & served with sourdough toast on the side, the coffee was amazing also, I never drink coffee without sugar, but these guys make coffee just perfectly, it's got no bitter taste that needs sweetening at all, I was recommended by a friend to go there & I can't wait to go back for more. I can't wait to try the entire menu.
Great little cafe. Came here with my parents and sister - some of us choosing from the breakfast menu and some from the lunch menu and we were all delighted with our meals. I loved my pumpkin fritters so much I've since tried to make my own at home (not quite as successfully haha!)!
I was over this side of town and used the zomato app to find the nearest breakfast place. What a lovely surprise, very quaint little cafe with a lot of breads, sweets and tea that can also be purchased in store. My parter had Pa's Pie and advised it was delicious and hearty; I had the Avocado Smash with poached eggs which was great as well. We ordered a side of potato Apple rosti which we weren't fussed on, it was a bit bland. The servings were huge, in hindsight we could have easily shared 1 meal! Overall, still really nice cafe with cute decor and attentive staff :)

Good food on both occasions. My favourite was the mint cheesecake a while ago, would love to have it again if it comes back! Service was friendly, and the sitting area out the back is very nice and unexpected from the street entrance.
We stumbled upon the Esher Street Cafe and Deli when our original brunch plans fell through and I think it will become a regular spot in our Saturday morning schedule. I loved the shabby chic vibe and was pleasantly surprised by the hidden back courtyard which significantly increased the availability of tables and included a play area for kiddies. The food was plentiful, tasty and well priced. I chose the Avo Smash on Sourdough which came with perfectly poached eggs, we also ordered the savoury mince quaintly named Pa's Pie and the pumpkin fritters (un-pictured). A selection of sourdough bread is available for take home purchase and I am already planning a return visit for morning tea so I can taste test some of the delicious cakes from the display cabinet. A serendipitous find indeed.
What a great find in the back blocks of Annerley. With a hidden rear outdoor ding area, this deceptively large cafe is worth a visit. Our Sunday breakfast was delicious with great comments all round from our group who sampled avocado smash, pumpkin fritters, fruit toast and pie. The coffees tasted as good as they looked and the service was friendly.
Ordered an ice latte on a hot summer day and it was exactly what I wanted. It comes in a big milk bottle jar too which was pretty cute. I also ordered a slice of the chocolate banana walnut loaf which was perfect and came out beautifully presented. This is a lovely place to catch up with friends and is one of those rare cafe style places that open till 3 in the afternoon!
Great menu selection including items for special dietary requirements. Yummy coffee. Nice staff, great atmosphere with tables available inside, out the front and also out the back in the airy verandah. Fast and fresh food!
Found Esther St on this app and thought to give it a try. The place was packed and there were not really any available tables despite there being plenty of room out the front and large 5 seater tables out the back with only 2 occupants each. Managed to find a table and ordered. We waited for probably 40mins for our meal which was a bit concerning however the staff were very apologetic and consoling which definitely made up for things. The meal was also delicious and huge! Overall a good spot to go.
We had brekky this morning at Esher Street and it was difficult to rate. At first the only seats available were these old chairs and chest-style table out the front but it would have been too hard to lean down and eat. We eventually got a table out the back which is in this cute little courtyard that's done up really well. The coffee was decent and the milkshakes were great! We waited almost 40 mins for food but the wait staff were really apologetic (as it looked like the order might have gone walkabout) and also offered us a round of drinks. In saying that, the food was fantastic! Couldn't fault it! Overall a positive, almost perfect experience
What I like about Esher St Cafe and Deli is the down to earth service and the funky setting. They have used reclaimed pallets for chairs out the back as well as other recycled material for the tables. With a lovely range for breakfast and lunch, it is definitely a great place to catch up with family and friends. Homemade goodies are available for purchase as well, including jams and chutneys.
Lovely little cafe.
I used to live in this area and would frequent Esher St. I now live elsewhere and haven't been to Esher St in over a year. When I walked in I was happy to see space made for more tables inside and decking placed outside. Improvements that show the business is still doing well. They have done well to create an intimate atmosphere.
For lunch I had a coffee and the pulled pork sandwich with a side salad. The coffee was good and the sandwich was awesome. I loved the hint of aniseed and the chilli. When I read it on the menu I wasn't too sure about the flavors but it worked and balanced well with the pork. The sandwich was also lightly toasted and came out nice and warm.
Drawbacks -
The side salad is optional and I wish I had opted out. It was a COus COus and eggplant salad. I found it bland and personally I'm not a huge fan of eggplant
. I finished my meal off with a delicious white chocolate and peanut butter chocolate - this was the perfect end to lunch.
This place is definitely one of my favourites for brekky. It has a relaxed Queenslander setting, an owner that goes above and beyond to provide good, friendly service and delicious brekky options. Having visited three times now, I have always been impressed with all dishes served. Perfectly poaches eggs and fast service even when they are busy. Support this business, they deserve it and will not disappoint.
Good.... I like this place... But it makes me wonder why hipsters need to be dirty.
Don't get me wrong, you're not going to catch anything or something like that, but I do always wonder how the food gets out of that kitchen.
Coffee is good, food is good, service is good.
3 out of 3 for tangible quality, but I am always left wanting... Not entirely sure why.
One of the best brekkie spot in Brisbane! We ordered the halloumi stack and the special of the day, 'Boston beans'. They were absolutely delicious and a good size serving. The halloumi was thickly cut and cooked to perfection. Coffee is mild but smooth. Nice decor - tables and chairs made
from recycled wooden materials. Friendly service. A Very kiddie friendly place with a kids play area at the back. Will definitely be visiting again
Good Espresso!. I was so excited to find this place as it is only a 3 minute walk from my house! The espresso was delicious and the staff were so friendly. I will definitely return!
My fiancé and I always have a fantastic brunch when we head to Esher Street Deli, the service is fantastic, coffee is great, Food is amazing and the relaxed organic environment outside is beautiful with the pallet furniture outside. The food especially is always fantastic, they are very generous on their portion sizes which is always a plush and it's great to see the owner always asks how your day was, and checks up on the food. I have nothing bad to say, even the one time they stuffed up our order it didn't matter because their generosity and service was great!
The cafe is set in a residential area of brisbane. The cafe has a rear area where you can sit and eat but it is quite hot back there so we sat out front with the traffic noise and cool breeze. The coffee was very good but not excellent. The staff were pleasant and friendly. We ate the avo smash with haloumi which was very good BUT the feta mixed into the avo was over the top and made the dish bitter and took away from the lovely haloumi. Other than that the meal was good. I would recommend this place but keep in mind there are better ones close by.
Good Food, but you'll have to sit on a crate. Very generous, sturdy portioned meals (a bit ludicrously so, hold back Brisbane! hold back!) with a range of white painted wooden crates to sit on - sturdy & well designed but nonetheless crates - felt a bit grubby & weary out back on the deck.
Worth the effort. Have been here 3 or 4 times. Breakfast is best. The food has been top notch. The iced latte in the milk bottles is tasty (and cute). Smashed avo on sour dough is my fav. The flies out back can be a bit much. I suggest a table at front on the footpath if possible. Very friendly, good value, good food.
LOVE THIS PLACE! Tick all .... LOVE THIS PLACE!
Tick all the boxes.

I live on the north side and this is my new favourite place. The drive it worth it!
Delicious coffee, great service and delightful gifts!
AMAZING!!. Yes yes yes yes, this place is excellent!
Great suburban atmosphere in a little street. Quirky setting and decor. Food was a little slow to come out but well worth the wait. Meals were huge, definitely value for money.
Would recommend to anyone - even if it is a drive away!
Esher Street Cafe & Deli - Tarragindi, Brisbane. A while ago, I remember my dining buddy telling me about this place after bringing a coffee home from it. From the sounds of it then, it sounded worth sussing out. That coffee by memory was a good, well-made one and I felt to make fair's fair that I should try out the food to give an honest, reasoned critique. Now that I revisited it recently for breakfast with my dining buddy, what I can say is that with a convenient locale it is a welcome addition to the suburban area. The food is high-quality and made with loving care.
Most of what I had heard beforehand was hearsay, and it is likely that since then there may have been alterations made to the place. Thus, this is from my observations of going here: there is more than meets the eye at first. Like most delicatessens, you have the few tables out the front for al fresco diners; yet that is probably just to help entice other would-be diners inside. Beforehand, it was likely that the delicatessen was someone's house. There are all sorts of goodies in the main section, both on the shelf and in the display case. Here is where you go to order, not before being able to chose your seat. This is where the most effective aspect comes in; out the back, there is a small array of tables - some with umbrellas for shade - to sit down at. Being on the grass and amongst the trees, it has a relaxing atmosphere and calm solitude.
The service that both my dining buddy and I had (as well as the baby) was impeccable. One guy that was there was the main one who served us and really kept an eye out for how the whole affair was going. It even extended one time to when he deduced that there was something else I wanted (i.e. water for the table) and even pointed the right direction towards it. This shows how well organised this place is.
So, as a breakfast drink I had none other than my usual double cappuccino. This was still good from memory and it must have been the location, because it was better than the last one I had. They used a good medium blend and everything was right about it.
My choice of meal was their haloumi stack. On top of toasted sourdough, they had a generous amount of haloumi with tomato, garlic-butter mushrooms, greens, eggplant and a a local relish. For a few dollars more there was the option of getting 2 poached eggs, and I did. This whole dish was delicious. Each item was fresh and had their own unique flavour to the entire combination; the mixture favoured haloumi and while opinions will vary I am far from complaining in that department.
Lastly, while I had no taste of it I did get the baby a kiddyshake: essentially any flavour of milkshake available in a smaller size. I was close to managing to get her a banana one - with real banana thus making it a mini-smoothie, but the boss mentioned that that could not be done. Therefore, she ended up with vanilla and appeared to enjoy it.
The service was the gold star while dining at Esher Street for me, especially when it came to my niece. Its homely vibe helped it a lot, which was likely to be caused from the building being a former home itself. I can give this place the thumbs up all the way. Locals living nearby have a treat in store for them.
Lovely vibe, lovely staff and lovely food! They sell a huge variety of funky homewares and gifts, and we'll definitely be doing some Xmas shopping there! It's just a really nice place, a great find.
Soon to be a Regular. Amazing find! have been for both lunch and breakfast now, both were definitely positive experiences. I cannot fault any of the breakfast options they have, I enjoy the fritters the most however I do take the fatty option and add bacon. I am usually one for a light meal for lunch rather than the heavy breads and the like that most places offer. I liked Esher St because they were very accommodating and changed the bread for a salad without a moments hesitation. They will also make up a meal from what you feel like eating, not many places will do that at all. They don't have affogato on the menu however the young gentleman making the coffees gave it a go and did an exceptional job.
the only cons I have about Esher St Cafe is the small amount of tables and chairs available. Also out the back of the shop there are tables and chairs but if you dont get a seat in the shade it can be quite hot in summer.
Not Bad has potential to be awesome. Went here for a lazy Sunday brunch, 4 of us pretty much had the place to ourselves, the backyard area is really funky with seats made from pallets, food was o.k not sure a toasted sandwich should be classified as "gourmet" I think some decent music would liven it up a bit and mabey if they sold alcohol aswell, otherwise good place to chill and relax
Very cute place nice out door dining, staff friendly. Loved the dukkah on avo, very creative and delicious! Coffee nice too!
Fantastic little place for breakfast! Been here for breakfast twice and although the first time they got our order wrong, the owner Jai was quick to amend this and apologised by giving us a free coffee and cake voucher. Has little knick knacks available for purchase everywhere which adds to the atmosphere of the place.
Nice little place. We grabbed two take-away drinks and a slice of cake. Very expensive for a small slice of cake. Mr B wasn't too impressed when we got home.
What a gem, great food, great coffee love the set out. I think I have found my favourtie local!
Esher St Breakfast was amazing! Perfectly poached eggs and getting extra avocado was definitely a great decision. Gotta love an all day breakfast!
Great Coffee!! Haven't had the good here yet but the coffee is great and I keep stoping in for one! Love it see you in the morning
Love it!. My wife and two boys went to the Esther St. Cafe on Saturday and loved it! The food was fantastic the staff attentive and courteous. Loved their quirky
Rustic style, not overly keen on the wooden platters for service, but this is a minor negative on what was a great experience.
Yummy Tarts. This cafe is a true gem. Wonderful coffee, service and savoury treats. Best by far are the scrumptious Portuguese tarts. Hard to stop at one, delicious.
Great service/Great food. We drop in there regularly for coffee or food and its always quick and well made. Service is also friendly and love the little extras
Stopped in for a breakfast catch up on a chill winter morning. Lovely atmosphere both inside and out on the back deck.
Staff were wonderful - friendly and helpful.
Good coffee, the food was delicious. We got the Green Eggs and the Shakshuka.
Definitely recommend.
This is a must try cafe in the heart of Tarragindi. Came for a cheeky weekday breakfast and walked out, tastebuds satisfied and pleasantly replete. Hubby and I thought we would try somewhere new and I was not disappointed. Well priced, hubby impressed with the coffee, and the "green eggs" meal item was delicious (see photo). Aesthetic very trendy and extra tables out the back for a garden relaxed setting. Keen to come back to try a new breakfast item!
Great little cafe that offers quick service at a reasonable price. Food came out quick and hot. Coffee was perfect. They offer a all day breakfast and lunch menu. Highly recommend and will visit again.
Went today for coffee and brunch. The vibes of this place are just awesome. The decoration makes you feel welcome and like at home. Coffee was the perfect temperature. I had the Lamb Laftas. They were well seasoned, not dry at all and super tasty. Highly recommended!
Driving past this cafe on the way to work, was looking for an excuse to visit After Fasting before blood tests I needed a rewarding brekkie! Italian Eggs were perfect. Poached to perfection and accompanied by meaty sausages and a wonderful rich tomato sauce came with plenty of good sourdough to mop it up. Coffee was good too. Staff were attentive. What more do you need?
Exeptional food and drinks with large servings. Lovely couple serving and making the food. If you are not sure what to have, the Shakshuka is DEFINENTLY recommended. Also has a very nice set up out the back. Loved it +++🤩
