Revisited this local cafe at Mt Gravatt East. It has been over one year since my last visit and it looks like there is a new management running the business (correct me if I am wrong).
Service is consistently friendly and passionated. I placed the same order as last time. The Merlo coffee was great and the banana bread was as thick as it was before.
Love to see the consistency here👍

Great food. Well priced and good value for money. Waffles gives you 3 waffles, when you’d normally only get 1 for the same price anywhere else! Also Dog friendly with $2.5 pupcakes! Heaps of outside space to sit dogs.
We've always loved That Little Place (proud Mt Gravatt locals) their avocado on rye is the best value for money in town. We're not the biggest Merlot fans but they make it very well. They're always happy to do takeaway food and coffee which is great for before work.
This is the place for a no fuss avocado on toast for those mornings where you want to cram as much of it in your mouth but don't particularly feel like preparing it yourself.
a beautiful little cafe on the streets of Mount Gravatt East is where you go for that. They serve not two but THREE slices of their rye toast, with a wedge of lemon (of course!) for $8
The man that served us was extremely cheerful, although, having hiked in the snow for two days, getting off a plane the night before and also sporting a head cold for the 5th day, we unfortunately couldn't match his enthusiasm.
Coffee was good, and a large size is actual a large size (woo!) please note the freckle on the spoon, as my partner didn't notice it and went to stir his coffee.. and.. oops a mocha was created haha
i was quite surprised with the size of the bacon as a side for the price ($2.50) three pieces, just enough. My partner ordered a side of feta, and it came in a huge bowl - no, he didn't accidentally stir it into his coffee ;)
they also open at 6am on sunday, which i feel is rare on this side of town. great for those early rises - not that i'm one of those
THE PLACE FOR COFFEE & AVOCADO TOAST. That Little Place is the place to start your day. About 6 months ago we were super excited to discover this coffee shop just around the corner from our house and it's become our local ever since. The owners and staff are lovely, down-to-earth and friendly - every single time! The coffee shop is chilled out, cozy & inviting - it's a place you can really unwind after a busy week, day or morning.
Now moving along to the food. If you love avocado on toast, then this is avocado toast heaven! This place serves the best avocado on toast in Brisbane, Queensland and probably the universe. If you order avo on toast, you will receive three (yes - 3!!!) pieces of toast with avocado +++, cracked pepper and a lemon wedge. It is large enough to share. Healthy, delicious and a great start to the day.
Also, I recommend trying their bacon, egg, cheese & delicious tomato relish muffin. A muffin & coffee will only set you back $8. Great combo deal! If you come on the weekend, try their scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, tomato, and relish big breakfast. Delicious and beautifully presented!!
FYI, gluten free options (e.g. toast) & Bonsoy available. Happy 1 year anniversary guys!

That Little Place - Mount Gravatt, Brisbane. A new place was opening up, promising to have coffee 24 hours a day on a side from the many juices and smoothies that they offer. All of this was not too far away, and my dining buddy and I decided to have a look. There was a line outside the door, and it seemed to be taking a while for it be moving. Thus, with a couple looks down the block and towards each other it was decided just to try out the other place - That Little Place.
Its name sort of describes the interior fairly well. It is really simple, quiet and has a good through flow of air. However, it is mostly about the atmosphere rather than the looks; that is where the true heart and soul of a place lies. A few pieces of artwork adorn the separate walls, plus there is a row of seats utilising the window sill as a bench along with several al fresco tables. All of this in a quiet, unsuspecting suburban pocket. Right across the road are some people's houses - talk about "the local".
That Little Place has such pleasant service. For a little place, there are a good amount of people working there - about four or five girls were behind the counter. None of them seemed to be falling victim to bystander effect; all were working well finding something to do among it all. They are lovely and friendly; you are made to feel welcome here.
The range of items is quite simple. There are the usual sweets and cakes, and a few sandwich type options as well. On weekend they do simple breakfasts such as pancakes and the bacon & egg combinations. It is nothing super fancy, and with the quality of the food it will probably be a wholesome, filling meal in itself. Additionally, the drinks menu has everyone covered if they are not keen on coffee. The kids can easily sip on milkshakes while the adults have their lattes. Key word here, accommodating.
The cabinet being full of goodies, it was difficult to select which one was the most appealing. With only one left at the time then - not really my sole choice in selecting it - I went with their apple caramel slice. This was lovely. There were several lots of fresh apple slices within the pastry, and these were complimented with a toffee-like caramel sauce that oozed throughout the slice. It was moreish, creamy and very tasty. On the side was a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream, which is always good. It was served on a wooden board that double as a nifty plate (sort of reminded me of the item they use to get pizzas in and out of a wood fired oven).
My dining buddy got a bacon and egg muffin, which from memory also had some melted cheese on it. This was a wholesome little snack, with warmed toasted buns. It had a good amount of filling and came served with a bit of tomato chutney. The muffin also came on the same kind of plate as the slice.
My dining buddy has not been a fan of Merlo in the past, which made him reluctant to try this place out for quite some time. Recently, some places that have served up Merlo as their coffee blend he has found to be good which has gradually changed his mind. This confirmed that it can be good in the right hands. The cappuccino that I had was well-crafted, with a creamy texture and good foam on top. The flavour of the espresso was just right, and well extracted.
As a small, little place that acts as a local "That Little Place" knows what it is - even down to the namesake - and for that is well worth it. There is not a sense of self-importance among it and will be worth trying for anyone in the area who has not gone to it yet.
Cosy, Quite, Delicious. I found this place on The Weekend Edition and had to try it out as they rarely put up stuff for South South Brisbane, and I must say there is a reason their team wandered so far south. That Little Place is the cutest little place. They had excellent coffee, so much so I should have asked them where they get their beans. Great atmosphere, and they are dog friendly with little tie up points and a water bowl out the front, will definitely be bringing our pups next time. The atmosphere is great and the quiet street is very calming, just what you want for a catch up with a friend or a respite from everyone. All the staff are friendly and the little bit of food my friend and I had were delicious, I had a veggie muffin that was killer. Definitely going back with the hubs.
You know "that little place" ... ?
The one around the corner?
No?... Well you should. The newest in this growing market but what makes this one special? The owners. A young couple passionate about creating 'that little place'. One that's inviting, friendly, comfortable and convenient. Good coffee and heaps of easy parking, oh and did I mention open early (6am on a Sunday too).
If you haven't tried this one you really should. The coffee is great and the service even better.
Cute quaint little cafe I only discovered as I was waiting for my laundry to dry. Not sure who the staff member was, but she was so friendly and welcoming. Latte was great, bonus even that there was oat milk. Definitely go again.
Wonderful staff & service, and the breakfast is always delicious and beautifully presented! Love the fact that its dog friendly! Don’t always have time to go out for breakfast but when we do this place is top of our list 🌟

THE BEST!!!! Lisa and her team are absolutely AMAZING!!! They have soldiered on throughout this very challenging 2020, serving divine coffee and beautiful food daily! 🙏
Despite the very tough restrictions on cafes due to Covid19, they have adapted to no longer provide a dine in experience, to ensure they can keep their staff and their customers safe - they have done this so they can remain open for their customers and we are SO thankful for that. ☕❤
This place is a local institution and we would all be quite lost without it! Get there now for a delicious takeaway coffee and some yummy food..... and don't forget your Doggo as they make the BEST Pup Cakes!!! 🐶
Always have a fantastic experience here. The people who work here are exceptional humans who always make us feel welcome. Its casual and personal and it just feels right. Coffee is delish as is the food. No dine in at present due to covid but the fact that they've taken a stand that is about reducing those possible chances of an out break - makes me live them more!
Simply the best little Café! I've been ordering my coffee here for several years now The quality of the fare and the warmth of the conversation makes the experience an authentic improvement to my day every time.
Despite the insanity of COVID, Lisa and the crew have tirelessly coped with all the restrictions and kept themselves and us safe with an intelligent and measured adaptation to the rules.
Naturally they cannot provide dine in at the moment as any smart person would know. The rules simply don't facilitate small businesses being able to do this at the moment. Commentary about not "going the extra mile" says everything about the self absorption of some folk and is the exact opposite of the reality we are all forced to deal with in these uncertain times.
This little place always goes the extra mile!
The banana bread is just heavenly; toasted and dripping with butter - its our guilty pleasure. Lisa baked for our wedding and there was nothing left, which says it all!
Don't hesitate to check out That Little Place!
What's NOT to love about this great locals hangout. The service is first class with Lisa and her team and great coffee and food.
Certainly a great place to meet especially on Wednesdays when the local firemen come and get there coffees from That Little place. Funny how the female population is double on that day.
But in all honesty...take the plunge and support one of the best coffee houses on the southside of Brisbane.
