Review Icarus - Brisbane

Had high expectations according to reviews. Order taken in a timely fashion. Entree delivered (delicious) then we were forgotten. Other tables with families, couples & larger groups came in after us & they were eating mains well ahead of us (we were only 2 couples). Takeaway orders were constantly going out. Yet we had to find out what was happening with our meal. ☹️ Environment felt very sticky like not cleaned properly. Workplace hazards cords in kitchen loose with no mats to cover. Glass broken (hey it happens) but glass shards still over floor even after cleanup. Looks like rising damp on the walls & floors didn't look like they had ever been cleaned. Sorry but my first & last experience here & mains not that great. Don't bother wasting your money. We go out so rarely & really looked forward to this. What a disappointment.

We had the share platter for 2 and a serve of baby octopus. Generous portions. The share platter which was delicious, meat had a nice flavour and was cooked to perfection. The octopus let them down. Otherwise good service and reasonably priced.

Really yummy, super friendly little gem! It got busy when we visited and our food took a little while coming out but they sent out a complimentary platter with yummy bread & dips, which we were pleasantly surprised by! Seemed to be only one very busy hard working chef in the kitchen & he did an amazing job! The food was delicious & super generous portions. We will be back to visit again to try all the other options on the menu! ευχαριστώ

We thought we would try this Greek restaurant on our way home passing through the area and we were very hungry. From the outside it looks good, when we sat down and were given menus we then questioned our decision. The menus are dirty, sticky and falling apart. We sat there looking at each other thinking hmm do we stay or go. The table was so sticky things stuck to it. Whatever they clean with it is not working, we were both uncomfortable with the unclean feeling so I went to the car and got some hand sanitiser after touching the disgusting menus. I asked the waitress do they have a license for alcohol and she said no. Which seemed odd as we could see alcohol at the wait station. We got water and soft drink, but saw another table getting drinks etc so I went to the wait station and asked another waitress who said yes we serve alcohol. All very odd and not professional at all. Items on the menu appeared good so we ordered entrees and mains. We were very pleased to get rid of the menus and commented to the waitress that they need new ones. Food arrived and dolmades were average and I felt they were thawed out and not a consistent temperature. Bland tasting. Moussakas were also bland and missing something and I wonder if they are mass produced and frozen till needed, that's what they tasted like and inconsistent heat inside, very disappointing. Salad was the best thing on the plate. Greek chips were frozen chips with some seasoning, how hard is it to make chips??? Both of us disappointed in the food and as we sat there and looked around the room it was apparent the venue is dire need or a thorough deep clean from top to bottom. Dirty floors and walls and air conditioner. When we went to pay and could see out the back to kitchen you could see it also was filthy. Once outside we both thought the same, that was a food regret moment and won't be back.We love Greek food and have dined in many and this venue could be compared to a cheap average pub meal taste. I asked my husband what did he think overall after the dinner and his simple reply summed it up, THE BEER WAS COLD! No good points for food. If Chef Gordon Ramsey walked in there he would tear it and the owner apart for sure. Clean the place up from ceiling to floor, take some pride in your restaurant and train the wait staff better. Sitting looking at cobwebs off ceilings and filthy floors under tables etc is a turn off.

Visited 2/4/22. Nice food. As for the service….not so nice. Pretty much ignored after we sat down and we’d to ask the staff 25 mins later if we could have a drink and order food. These came promptly but then there was no further service - we weren’t asked if we’d like another drink and desserts. Shame because we would have liked these so it was lost money for the business

We have had dinner here as a couple and family birthday gathering. We have not been disappointed. The food is lovely, the staff have been great. Highly recommend

Today my partner and we’re out looking for a bite to eat for lunch. We had the thought of Pepe’s at Jindalee, we sat down and was greeted by a waitress, who dropped off our water whilst talking on the her mobile. I’m ex hospitality of 16 years and said to my partner hell no!!!!! So we promptly stood up and decided on Icarus. What a great choice we made. The young waitress was so nice and prompt. We ordered the three dips and dolmades for an entree. The dips were awesome flavourful and the pitas were like fluffy clouds. For mains my partner had the lamb yiros which she said was amazing and I hade the tebedes, these little meatballs flavoured with fennelgreek seeds must have come from heaven because o god they were great. We will most definitely be back time and time again. Thanks chef for an amazing meal

I love Greek food, particularly Souvlaki with a good Greek Salad and I have been pleasantly surprised to find a local establishment that does it really well. The menu here is not huge but the quality is excellent. Aykut and his team strive to serve the type of food that Aykut grew up eating and for my money they have done a good job of it.

I have eaten their numerous times and keep coming back. I have always found the service to be prompt and friendly, attentive with you being obtrusive.

The decor is minimalist giving the feel of a small cafe on a Greek Island somewhere, albeit the location in Jindalee is not as exotic as the Greek Islands.

I like this place and will be back.

If you like restaurants that serve unappetising, poorly presented food, combined with inefficient service then Icarus is for you. Last night four of us went to this restaurant not expecting fine dining but what we encountered was disordered dining. I lost track of how many times the one and only waitress apologised for unavailable menu items and delays. She did her best but it was obvious that she was struggling under difficult conditions. Not sure whether there was a chef in the kitchen or not but whoever was in that role needs to upgrade their skills. My lamb meat balls were a couple of ugly overcooked flat patties, a bit of green stuff which I think was the salad, six cherry tomatoes and a huge pile of chips that covered half the plate, very grim. Four desserts, including my wellington boot style crème caramel, were served each with a scoop of chocolate ice cream as there was no gelato, no offer of cream instead. Luckily I was with enjoyable company so we overlooked the shambles of my birthday dinner at Icarus. First and last visit for us.

We had lunch here at this new Greek restaurant near DFO Jindalee. Service was prompt & friendly & we loved the cool bright interior design with the colorful pics of Santorini on the walls. Its been a few years since I was there & the food here bought back happy memories! Vegetarian mousaka was our choice of the day. A tasty wholesome dish with chunky potato & eggplant in a tasty cheesy sauce with plenty of fresh herbs. Loved the addition of fresh dill on the accompanying rice & the salad (though not traditional Greek as I remember it to be) was fresh & leafy with plenty of red onion & cherry tomatoes

We booked a large group in for a birthday dinner, all 20 people including myself could not fault anything. The owner is very accommodating putting a set menu together for a very good price. I will be returning soon!

We were extremely unhappy with the service we received tonight! We ordered Icarus through Uber Eats, a serious delay in delivery and our order was not complete when it got here! We called through to one of the female staff members who told us we would need to drive in to get the rest of our order as they wouldn’t deliver it because they were busy! Completely defeats the purpose of Uber Eats and the order should have been complete from the start. Staff member was unhelpful and asked if we were not busy another day to come in and get a refund!! Food was okay just terrible service!

Been here twice now, fantastic service and the food is soooo good. Pricing is very reasonable for Greek. Definitely recommend and a great edition to the neighborhood. 5 Stars

Came here for lunch on a Saturday, friendly owner Aykut greeted us when we walked in and helped us with high chair and water. Impressed with all the dishes, they are all not too salty perfect for kids, the reason behind is the recipe from the owner's mum.
Baby-friendly and pet-friendly (saw people having their dog seating outside)

Very surprised to find this new little Greek place! Friendly and relaxed service, with a clean Mediterranean style interior. The food had a home made wholesomeness about it which I haven’t experienced in Brisbane before. Definitely recommend the feta dip and zucchini dill balls 👍 for mains my favourite was probably the lamb, the beef was very tender too! Finally the desert really surprised! Our coconut flan was rich yet not too sweet - excellent way to end our meal 😋

Food was very tasty and the service was nice and friendly. The food took a bit long to come out and there was a bit of a breakdown of communication regarding the order although this is understandable during a busy Saturday night. Overall I would definitely recommend trying this restaurant.

Just happened to be driving past and saw that a new Greek place has opened in our local area. Set up and ambience was relaxed. I was a little shocked that when we entered, the wait staff did not greet us, saw us but didn’t say anything and we found our own seat and sat down. After that, the wait staff were attentive and nice. We ordered a few things including corn, eggplant dip, haloumi and an open souvlaki which we requested instead of a wrapped one. All was not bad except that the lamb souvlaki has lamb that was not cooked. I understand keeping it seared or a little undercooked for juiciness and flavour however this tasted raw. We told the waitstaff at the end who spoke to the chef. The wait staff returned to tell us that the chef said that’s how it is meant to be. I expected the chef to come out and talk to us or be somewhat understanding since we are paying customers. But nope, we ended up paying for the whole meal and walked out quite disappointed. I love to support new businesses but I’m sure we will not be back to this place.
