Tried it once and loved the burger instantly. The fries were great, crispy and salty. Already want to go back for more. Love a cheese burger

I did have big expectations here but as i have mentioned before, the BBC is growing and so is the growth in burger snobs in Brissy😂. The burger itself has all the right things but doesnt seem to tie together perfectly. Not great balance. I prefer my cheese melted over the patty (im sure ive had it melted over the patty before🤔), more sauce evenly spread. The bun was good and the patty was tasty and cooked perfectly, slightly rare in the centre. Just didnt have that pop of juice we look for in a quality beef patty. The service was ok, no real exciting energy coming from the staff. So with a couple of our preferences lacking, it feels a little over priced but it is a good burger and we would come back again.

Love the Magic Mushroom burger had several times now and never disappoints. My only gripe would be that it's the only vegetarian burger on the menu.

Burger project: B+. The katsu burger consisted of crispy and succulent chicken fillet, whilst the beef patties were juicy and moist. However the burgers needed more sauce which is important in tying all the components together. Ordered thick shakes which were hard to drink with paper straws. Chips were crispy and delicious!

After hearing the opinion of a friend/highly regarded food blogger, I was honestly expecting an average-to-disappointing meal. I ordered an American cheese burger with extra cheese, fries with regular salt and a caramel malted thickshake. I ordered via Deliveroo and received a nice warm, freshly prepared meal. The malted caramel thick shake was amazing, however it was quite small for the $8 price tag. The burger itself was great, nice bun, quality beef, cooked medium rare and overall satisfying. The chips were on point and cooked perfectly, soft in the right places and crispy where it counted. Overall I was pleasantly surprised with this meal and it actually surpassed many other burgers I've had around Brisbane recently.

Good burgers though not as good as miel container for me. Chips to die for and free tomato sauce and mustard is a nice touch. The special dip for the chips (sour cream/chive/bacon) was ok but maybe better if warm. Salted caramel thickshake was out of this world and the best i've ever had. The decor and staff service was excellent. Apart from the burgers ($8-14) the prices werent cheap (7.50 for thickshake, chips seperate to burger and 5.50 for a large) but overall a good place if you dont mind spending a bit for a whole meal.

Short Version: Burger Project's 'The Bacon Project' was a good burger - good meat, cheese and bun - but there wasn't a lot of bacon and I didn't care for the chili 'secret sauce' or the pickles (mushy and bland) - this rated 3-3.5. Good chips with lots of Heinz Ketchup (3.5). Didn't care for the layout and having to fight through the queue to retrieve my food and again to get back to my table. I will definitely return as Burger Project is located in very close proximity to my office, but next time I will request no 'secret sauce'.

Full Review: I missed Burger Project's opening and then the mediocre reviews inspired me to wait a couple weeks to see if they would work out the kinks. I made it in for lunch and was immediately put off by the layout. There isn't enough space between the door and the counter, which necessitates an odd queue to the left of the counter. This leaves patrons trying to claim their meals to fight through crowds of people in the queue, only to have to turn around and fight back through the queue to reach your seat. I also discerned a noticeable lack of air conditioning on the street side, so opted for one of the seats near the courtyard where there was a bit of cool air, but this left the queue of people standing over me while I ate.

I went with The Bacon Project ($13.90), Small Chips ($3.50) and a Coke Zero. My order was ready approximately 15 minutes later and after a few quick photos I took my first bite hoping to be blown away. Unfortunately, I wasn't blown away. Actually, I was left quite puzzled...why was I tasting chili on my bacon cheese burger? I pulled the burger apart and discovered that Neil Perry's 'secret sauce' is a combination of chili, mustard seed and a vinegar tomato sauce. I did not love the sauce, but there was no way to remove it because it was quite watery and was all over the top bun, bacon, cheese and pickles. I tried to counter it by adding Heinz Ketchup, but was only marginally successful.

As for the burger itself, it was really good. High quality meat, good seasoning, cheese and bacon in a beautiful bun. That said, I was expecting a lot more bacon from 'The Bacon Project' and it made me wonder how little would have come in the Cheese and Bacon Burger. Assuming there would have to be 1-2 pieces of bacon in the Cheese and Bacon Burger, I don't think the extra $3 to upgrade to The Bacon Project was worth it - I think an extra burger patty would have been a better investment. Besides, the bacon was good, but it wasn't great.

In addition to the 'secret sauce', I was not impressed by the pickles, and I made the mistake of ordering extra pickles (because I love pickles). The pickles were mushy and bland - more like soft slices of cucumber. It feels sacrilegious to write this, but I would have much preferred McDonald's pickles.

The chips were good and went well with the Heinz Ketchup. The paper straw is a bit of a novelty, but was already getting soggy within 10 minutes.

The core burger was very good, and as I stated in the short version, I will definitely return - I'll just order my burgers without the secret sauce.

Was a good burger, main thing that made it good was the quality of the beef, tasted real and fresh, also the other ingredients were good to. Chips are nice with 3 choices of salt.

On my own to see Icehouse play at the Exhibition & Convention Centre, I decided it was the perfect time to try out the newly opened Burger Project in Brisbane. Hidden up the new the eastern part of Grey Street, surrounded by construction is a new food precinct area.
Upon turning the corner, the place was super busy with lots of tables inside and out, but the queue to order was long and I started to feel concerned, that I had not left enough time to eat before the concert.
Thinking this whole process was going to take forever, I was pleasantly surprised the line moved reasonably fast with enough time to peruse the menuboard, and make a decision.
What struck me at first, was how small the menu is!
Mostly beef burgers with 2 or was it 3 chicken burgers, and the obligatory vegetarian option.
I am trying to eat healthy and found that all the chicken is deep fried (which some of you will love!), but not me.
So I opted for the Aussie Burger to go!
Given a buzzer, I was feeling nervous that I would be waiting forever with the huge crowd and the line still out the door, but took a seat and was pleasantly surprised when my buzzer rang in less than 10 minutes!
Upon openeing my bag, I must say the size of the burger disappointed me and it looked underwhelming!
But digging into that beautiful glazed bun and and the beef patty I was very happy! Not blown away, but certainly very tasty! The beetroot and pickles and the tomato sauce/relish really complimented each other and the beef patty!
I am spoilt having my eaten in burger places in the U.S. and the beef patty was cooked thoroughly, but overcooked for my liking.
So, I guess you equate this too a high endish McDonalds with fresher and better ingredients!
Yes, I would return! Certainly tasty, a good option for a quick meal when time is an issue.
Exactly what I say when Celebrity chefs put there name behind something, they have imput into the place, but at the end of the day, other people are cooking it, so it will never be The Rockpool!!

Long time readers of my blog will know that I have a sort of love hate relationship with newly opened restaurants. On one hand, I love going to satisfying my curiosity, but on the other hand, quite a few problems occur on the first day, that are eventually sorted out after running the restaurant for a few more days. However, when I heard that Neil Perry's largely popular Burger Project was coming to Brisbane, I had very little hesitation in trying it out on the first day.

I was super excited to try Burger Project on its very first day! As expected the place was packed and we did have to line up for quite a while to place our order, but it was all good. I ordered the cheeseburger and also a chocolate milkshake, I was very happy with the cheeseburger, seemed very fresh and tastes great. I also really enjoyed the chocolate milkshake. Service was a bit slow, but they were extremely busy so was fair enough. I'll definitely be back.

There yesterday, mixed reviews on this place. We ordered the cheese burger and the chilli cheese burger. Both with fries and soda....and a water. Presentation of the restuarant is ok, a little disjointed but still works. Hard with 2 fronts, one street and the other train passengers and shops. I think a dual frontage site needed more careful planning. Wasted opportunity in set out to maximize exposure and likability to sit facing the streetscape pen air. Food presentation was great, better than most places I found. Cleanliness of the place is 3 stars, found it was surface clean but closer look needed some more careful attention to details. Food taste etc, burgers taste spot on if you are after an American style dinner or burger place experience eating wise. A decent US style burger which most who have not traveled will not appreciate the simplicity of each burger. Fresh ingreds and meat was cooked well and tasted good. Chips were on point and well cooked in all our meals. Soda with the wax straw for that little kick of detail. Conflicted in my review as it's a 3.5-4 Star place. A little expensive but that is Southbank and most burger places now that run like this. Our Order: Chilli Cheese Burger, Sml Fries and Sprite Cheese Burger, Sml Fries and.Coke Sml Chips and Water Total cost circa $45 So that's what you are up for price wise....I leave the experience to you. Will try again, need to still be sold on the place but first experience was enough to come back in future to try something else.

This place is poorly designed, or the selection of the place for this shop is wrong. Its not a very big shop, but its kitchen occupied most of the space, which is right at the middle, leaving the dining area very cramped and narrow, which are also blocked by two giant pillars. Dining here was not very pleasant. But i forgot everything for their food. The burger was juicy, delicious. Their meat souced from Cape Grim in Tasmania, which tastier than other fast food chain. The parent company of this shop also cater food for Qantas flight

The burger project tasted so amazing! You all have to go & grab one now! The grass fed beef is deliciously awesome & love how it is chunky. 🤤 Loved it so much! Inside the burger is so fresh & full of salad!

This Burger has a confit mushroom on it as well as a medium rare beef patty (like a Burger patty should be cooked). It did have raw white onion on it, which is a bit unusual for a Burger joint like this. The special sauce was pretty special.

I really enjoyed the Australian burger, which was beautifully presented and made with noticeable fresh ingredients. The burger was delicious although a bit on the pricey side - however, I'm paying for fresher quality ingredients which are sourced daily, and I'm supporting hardworking local Aussie growers & suppliers as well. The staff were pleasant and I suspect with more experience they will learn to interactive with their customers more. The chocolate milk shake was my only disappointment. It's not the usual cold frothy milky version we know, love and expect. The incredibly rich chocolate flavour strongly overpowered the taste of my meal. For me, a milkshake should refresh and complement the burger & fries. Maybe they might try refining their milkshake recipe? HOWEVER, my milkshake fail is a small issue, I will definitely go back again, as the burgers are succulent and delicious, the ingredients are fresh, locally sourced and the Burger Project location is absolutely BRILLIANT - @ South Bank train station. With time and experience this place will find its natural groove!
