Food
Being just my wife and I, we ordered one starter and two mains. For the starter, we choose the tomato bruschetta flatbread ($14) and for the mains, the lamb chops ($29) and the Moroccan spicy chicken supreme ($25). The tomato bruschetta was a pizza style offering with lashings of fresh tomato, cheese and onion and smothered in a smooth balsamic vinegar. It was a meal. My wife’s lamb chops were tasty, well cooked and came with crispy potatoes, beans, a small serve of coleslaw, a little bowl of gravy and a little bowl of mint sauce. My Moroccan spicy chicken was succulent and tender. The cous cous and fig apricot relish were the perfect accompaniment and the whole concoction was covered in a creamy tzatziki sauce. We both enjoyed our meals.
Ambience
We lunched on a busy Sun afternoon in May, and the place was packed, giving it a lively, energetic and fun vibe. We found the inside dining area a tad too hectic for our liking so we decamped to the terrace outside, where tables were decorated with colourful green and white striped tablecloths. That suited us fine and we were quite happy dining there in the warm autumn sunshine. There were a few other occupied tables outside but the acoustics were fine and we were easily able to converse. Even though we were out of the line of sight of the wait staff, there was no compromise on the service.
If you choose to sit inside you’ll find a large, airy and comfy space that’s been decorated in bright and cheerful colours with high ceilings and large low hanging lamps. There are cute signposts around the place and colourful wall murals just near the toilet and an interesting retro petrol pump. There are carpets throughout the venue, adding that homely and warm touch. It just had a thoroughly happy and cheerful buzz to it with tons of families enjoying a day out.
Cost
Drinks were expensive and we paid 15 pesos for a schooner of ale and a bottle of apple cider. Food costs were a bit more reasonable and it was a nice surprise to discover that long-suffering seniors at least get a 20% discount on menu items. Consequently, we paid 54 for one starter, the aforementioned very generous bruschetta, and two mains, the chicken and the lamb. All up, with three drinks included we paid 75. I guess a year or two ago this would have been 50. So thanks to the idiots who run the Reserve Bank for destroying the purchasing power of our money.
Toilets
There are ample clean and well provisioned toilets just behind the main indoor dining areas, and you can enjoy the interesting murals and retro petrol pump that I mentioned, on your way in and out.
Service
Service was polite and friendly. Wait staff are neatly dressed and professional in their attitude. We had booked directly through the hotel’s website and our table was ready for us when we arrived. Of course, there are different ways to order, either directly at the bar, or using the Aust Venue Company app. I used the app then went up to the front bar counter to pay, but it took ages to finalise the transaction. Staff seemed unsure how to handle the seniors discount, rewards points and payments. To my annoyance, they wouldn’t accept cash. But apart from that, it all flowed smoothly and after eventually sorting and paying, food came out quickly and in the correct order.
Summary
We had a pleasant lunch here on the terrace outside enjoying the warm and balmy Brisbane autumn weather. Food was nicely prepared, portion sizes were generous and the service was friendly and efficient (apart from aforementioned issues with app ordering and rewards redemption). It had a bright, happy and fun ambience. Add to that easy parking right outside and ample clean and well provisioned toilets and you have all the ingredients for a perfect afternoon or evening out with friends or family.
Memo
Just for the record, the official name of this restaurant is “Roadhouse Grill”, even though in it's in the Jindalee Hotel. And to add to the confusion, RHG seems to be a brand name, with six hotels sharing it, I presume, all under the umbrella of the Australian Venue Company.

I wish I could give five stars. It is a five star place. I go there frequently. Food is good, selection of drinks awesome. So why one star? Well, the price of stone wood pale ale pint is 16$. I think it is very much over priced. Over to the manager! Pls Change the price, you would get a five star rating!!
Thanks Manager for changing the price!

I went to see singer Bloom here. First outing since covid. Definitely not used to the young, squealing drunk teens, but the hotel was clean and maintained. They seem to have good musicians there. I would go again.

Having eaten at the hotel before, I was expecting a little more from the experience I had this week for lunch. In short, the seafood BBQ seemed excessively priced for what appeared on my plate...a smallish piece of barramundi, though tasty, and just two prawns and four or five thin slivers of calamari. The chips, however, were plentiful, filled up the plate and were hot. Poor value, I'm sorry to say.

Best value chicken parmies in Brisbane. Great atmosphere and food

Courteous and obliging staff. Good food, drink and a pleasant atmosphere. Restrooms were very clean and tidy. A pleasant time was had by all.

Maddie and her team went above and beyond for my mum's birthday. The food was sensational, we had the salmon and the gnocchi and it was amazing. I would recommend to any body. Great play area for kids as well. Do yourself a favour.

We visit for lunch today and on arrival Manager Sam advises us of Monday’s 250g Rump Steak Special ($14). Sold! We decide to have the Rump Steak (medium-rare) with Baked Jacket Potato, Coleslaw and Peppercorn Sauce.

Our meals are served in under 20 minutes. The Rump Steaks are perfectly grilled and are surprisingly tender. Our tall glasses of Lemon Bitters are refreshing, making this a very enjoyable meal. The Road House Grill is attractive and very comfortable despite the heat and bushfire smoke outside. Thank you Sam for the warm hospitality and great service. This value meal improves our overall score to 5! We will return soon!

Roadhouse grill at the Jindalee hotel was our go to place weekly. We went there Tuesday night and the menu had changed.... mostly the same but prices gone up. When ordering our meals we asked for the Ceaser Salad with our meals and was told we no longer offer that garden salad only. So now prices have gone up and the salad swaps have been removed 😞 have to find a new local now.

This pub is nice inside. Makes me want to stay and enjoy a few glasses of bubbles. The food however is lacking. Carbonara was meh. Tasteless. Garlic bread was on point, but you can’t be going somewhere just for garlic bread and ambiance.. can you?
My Food And Fings
Extensive menu, great for kids with yummy Kids’ food and kids’ area, and affordable drinks. My eye fillet steak was cooked perfectly, just needed a little more seasoning. Will definitely be a regular for our family.

Wasn't a great experience. Very quiet night but the service was appalling and the food was subpar...ie raw potatoes.

Bar staff wouldnt supply a reciept after they took my card away when I tried to pay.

Came here for Lunch ordered 2 burgers, both were like eating a piece of cardboard sandwiched between toilet seat absolutely the worst pub lunch ive had. Dont recommend. Management if you read this do something about your pub before it goes broke.

Not impressed at all with the service & quality of food. Took over 1hr & 30 minutes for our table to receive our meals, each meal came out separately with no apologies for the delay. Won't be coming back.
Had a really good experience with service, food and cocktails! This place wasn't busy when we arrived but as the night progress it got busy. So I'm guessing this is a popular joint. Gotta love pub food.

Road House Grill was a really nice venue and easy to get a booking with. The entrees were extremely quick to come out and the salt and pepper squid was amazing! The mains took awhile but they were nicely cooked. Definitely recommend the honeycomb brownie as it was extremely delicious! Great service and will definitely be going back.

So, we organised a family dinner for my father's birthday at the Road House Grill....Big, huge, gigantic mistake!!! Two meals arrived that weren't as ordered, two others cold, a steak was so tough you couldn't cut through it and two meals never arrived that had been paid for! The staff really weren't too concerned about any of this either. Short staffing was offered as a paltry excuse for the subpar experience but there were only about 30 other people in the restaurant. My advice...? Go 300m up the road to Maccas - the 14 year olds flipping burgers can give you a better experience!

Several times we have eaten at the Road House grill and some dishes are done well while others are lacking flavour. Today we had a plate of Nachos that were lacking in cheese, green peppers/onions and the chips were soggy from the runny salsa sauce poured on them. My cheesecake was very delicious and the burger was okay. They are somewhat imitating an American food theme but falling short. Please chefs google how to make American style nachos and a burger. You will find the nachos are made very differently to what you do. No runny salsa sauce poured on the chips the salsa is to be on the side of the plate and more cheese/onions please. The cafe itself is clean and well presented and the lady serving us was pleasant.

I thought Nicks was better than this

My son and I would go almost every Wednesday for the Special. Was excited about the new opening of the Roadhouse.

1 - No table service have to pay up front every time you want to order something ie meal, desert, drinks. Staff were quite unhelpful.

2 - I asked for a Slushee for my child - answer was it doesn't fit in with our menu style its now in the sports bar> Oh ok can you get me one from the sports bar then - sorry no - come on I've been coming her for years - walks out to sports bar comes back - sorry it hasn't been turned on

3 - I decided to try it again with my older family only to discover that the vegetarian offers where well non of importance. 1 pizza and salad. No Vegetarian Meals - not even a pasta - very poor. We had two vegetarians in a group of 6.

The only reason now I would go back is if I was desperate - what were management thinking !

Great value!. Just had my first visit the The Road House Grill,
Service was very friendly and efficient,
Decor pleasant,
Menu selection has something for everyone and food was great value for money,
This will not be me first and last visit (i'm probably not the only one to say this as the restaurant was full of diners having a great time!)

Very Disappointing. Dined here today for lunch and had fish from the lunchtime special menu. It was only $15 but was not even worth that. I received one very small piece of dry crumbed fish, a few chips, about a spoonful of coleslaw and a bit of lettuce and tomato. It tasted like the chef had walked across the road to Coles and bought a packet of frozen, home brand, crumbed fish and chips and a tub of coleslaw.
Will not be returning.
Next time we will go to The Monier.

Sunday Lunch. A great experience with both fantastic service and fresh food. I had the pork roast and my partner had the Chicken Caesar salad wrap. Both were well presented and freshly made.

Very Disappointed with Food & Service. Very disappointed with the quality of food & service at Jindalee hotel.
We will never go there again. Would rather go to Mac Donald's than going there.
Not worth spending all that money to get really really bad food. Even the kids meals was terrible :(
Staff was very rude and not willing to help our big group that spens a lot of money on food & drinks.

Lovely!. A group of us booked Nick's for our Christmas party last Friday night. We were given a table near the back of the restaurant and bar. This was perfect for us. We were also able to pay individually for our meals and drinks, which certainly made life much easier within the group. The food was all brought out at the same time, which also meant that we all ate together rather than having some of us eating while others waited. The timing between each course was just right too. The table was nicely set and crackers were complimentary. The service from the initial booking to the waitstaff and other staff on the night was excellent. Great meal choices and great food. Desserts were lovely and the coffee was top-notch. I'm not sure what went wrong for the previous reviewers, but all of us were very pleasantly surprised at how good the night was overall. No complaints. In fact each person I spoke to later said that they would not have thought it was going to be that enjoyable. Thank you to all the staff. You have gained many repeat diners!

Nick's Jindalee. Alacarte menu...you can have steak for $30 at Nick's or walk 10 metres to public bar and have it for $10. It is very plain and even sub standard food, poor service and a waste of money. Any restaurant that caters for a dozen public bar meals and then charges triple for th same meal with a table cloth (and less service) you must wonder. 30 metres away is woolworths...just buy some food there.

Decent grub. Was pleasantly surprised after dining at Nicks on Thursday evening; two very decent mains - eye fillet steak & veg and chicken breast in proscuitto with veg followed by a delicious coconut and lime cheese cake.
A nice family atmosphere also.

Average breakfast. When my local Richlands Tavern stopped doing buffet brekky on a Sunday I found out the good ole Jindalee Hotel was stepping up to the challenge. $15 a head and open on Sundays for the buffet brekky 8am to 10.30. Dying for a coffee we were there bang on 8am so imagine my surprise when I saw the coffee urn being taken away. Noooooooooo..................apparently a guy who had beaten us to the punch had complained and it was brought back refreshed - he tasted it and declared it fine, I thought it was quite weak. At least it was on tap and you didn't have to do the instant coffee and hot water thing, but in this day and age a proper coffee machine wouldn't have been out of place. To be fair, whilst I give it an "average" rating my friend thought it was great value for money and I guess that's what it is - for your $15 you get the urn coffee, cereals in the little boxes, DYI toast - baskets of cold muffins and pastries (these really should have been under the heat lamps) hot boxes of chipolatas, bacon, scrambled egg, baked beans, tomato, mushrooms, hash browns and plain pancakes. For me the best quality of it all was the pancakes, the chipolatas were rock hard, the scrambled egg very strange, kind of like a slab of tasteless powdered egg stuff, food wasn't cold but not quite hot either - like other diners have said the staff were excellent - one of the guys came out while I was mournfully looking at the cold pastries and I asked if it was possible to zap em for a bit, no worries and I got my nice warm pain au chocolat - so it was a nice way to end the morning. Sure, we'll be back, like my friend said - for $15 what more do you want?

Don't bother. The food was absolutely awful... I really wanted to like the place, because the service was great, the front of house staff were excellent and the facilities for kids were good... But there was no escaping how bad the food was. I had the 'slow cooked pork belly'. I've never had rock hard tough slow cooked food before... The fat wasn't rendered so it was gelatinous and just plain disgusting and the pork itself was hard as a rock. My friends food was just as bad - overlooked steak and the BBQ ribs were also hard as a rock. When we complained, the front of house staff were apologetic, but that was it. It all still wound up on the bill. No offer of even a drink to make up for it. We paid, quietly left and won't go back. Ever.
Matt Clark
Good variety on the menu, service was ok, nothing startling. Koftas were a bit bland but the pulled pork burger was awesome. I will be back just for that.
Kiki Anders
Good value lunch menu. Never having been before I was surprised at the lunch menu for $13 a plate. The portions weren't generous and the salad left a bit to be desired, but overall I would have to say that for $13 it hit the mark. The drinks are good value too. One problem is the glass ceiling over the restaurant and it does become quite warm in the restaurant at this time of year. The airconditioning doesn't seem to be able to keep the area cool and comfortable.

Went there tonight only to give it a go again after the dismal time we visited 2 years ago(cafe style). The staff were friendly and the food was good and reasonably priced. Will definitely come again.

Good food in the suburbs. Nick's is my go-to restaurant on the West Side to get a good feed. Service can be a bit up and down, with them scrapping service altogether, and then bringing it back after too many complaints I would assume. Food is always good, have never had a bad meal here.
Micheal Collins
Service is back- Hooray!. I used to be a regular and Nick's, as you're a bit starved for choice over on the West side if you like service and a nice meal.

The last time I went in, they had dropped the table service, and were getting everyone to order at the bar. Just didn't seem the same, and we hadn't gone back for close to a year.

I'm happy to say on my last visit that table service is back, and I will once again be frequenting Nicks. The food is good, and the staff are friendly. Meals are a bit overpriced, but I can handle that, as long as I'm getting the service!

Very pleasant. I've been living in Westlake for over 10 years now and when Nick's first opened I mentioned we should give it a try. Thing is hubby doesn't like expensive pub grub and the prices put him off, so we never went.

Finally last night Mr 17 and I decided to give the place a whirl (with hubby out of town) and it was lovely. Yes it's not cheap pub grub, but where can you find that these days? All pubs seem to have gone upmarket and started charging the same prices as restaurants, so finding a cheap pub meal is a thing of the past I think.

I liked the fact that the public bar and pokies were very separate from the restaurant and honestly, it didn't feel like being in a pub at all. The atmosphere was pleasant and the surrounds very nice. The menu had a good variety on offer including some really interesting sounding dishes. We settled on the trio of dips to share for entree and all three were delicious. My only complaint, probably could have used a bit more toasted turkish as we still had some dip left over, but I am sure could have asked for more.

For mains we both chose the good old pub staple of Chicken Schnitzel. I was a little disappointed to find the schnitzel was the usual "love heart" one that most pubs seem to serve up i.e. it wasn't made fresh on the premises, but it was a yummy schnitzel and the chips and gravy we had with it were great. I'm not sure about the review below saying you now have to get your drinks from the bar - certainly not our case, we were able to order our drinks at the table and just pay the one bill.

So overall very pleasant - we'll be back no doubt.

It's Changed. I was a huge fan of Nicks, and have been going there for 4 years now for every major event in my life throughout the year. I was extremely disapointed to see that the service had changed last time and you now have to order at the bar. It really detracts from the lovely sit down atmosphere, which is few and far between in the area. The menu was always great but overpriced. I am sad to say I won't be going back as much anymore (zero times this year compared to once a month). I know it's just a change in service but I just don't feel as valued anymore as a customer. I might give it one more try in six months time but if the prices and style of service hasn't changed I am not going back.

So a few months later Hubby and I went back to give it a go and it was lovely to see Table Service was back. The staff were their usual friendly selves and the new menu was great, although the lack of Pizza's on it was noticed. Although the menu is extremely similar to Springlakes Hotel, possibly the same owner?? This is the first time we had dessert and it was amazing. Thanks Nick's, you have won us back.

Love this place. Friendly staff, beautiful food,
Love their pastas and salmon.

I've been here a few times over the years and the experience has varied wildly. It seems to suffer from an identity crisis, never sure if it wants to be a quality restaurant or a bistro with better tables. The food is a little overpriced, especially now that it's decided to be a cafe style service where you go up and order at the bar yourself etc The staff are friendly and are the shining light for the place. And there is a children's playground which is good for keeping the little ones entertained. Overall it's an ok place, the food is good just not fantastic enough to justify the prices. If you re going, go early, I turned up just before 8pm once and was top the kitchen was closed!

Cannot say how much I like this place. Simple and comfortable atmosphere, friendly waitstaff. Unlike most taverns ive been to of late, the steak was actually cooked exactly as I ordered it! Medium was actually medium!! The sauces were outstanding in their own right, and side salads included cesar without additional charge. Rock on Nicks!
