Nice place and they have a good sizes table upstairs for larger group. The staff is super friendly and quick to help.
The menu options are interesting and not the usual but none of us were disappointed. The pumpkin waffle in particular is one to try!
Overall a place worth visiting for a great cup of coffee and for delicious food.

I like the ‘hole in the wall’ window opening to the street that they have for grab and go coffee. There is a nice vibe to it. I think this also results in the inside of the cafe being a little more relaxed and separated from the events of the street.
Inside is spacious enough but the seating is a little weird (unergonomic), lots of small stools and small tables. I’m not that tall but upstairs with the arched walls and ceiling I also felt like l I was hunching a little.
The food was good, reasonably priced, and I was certainly satisfied with the size. My two main notes, zucchini felt a bit light on but must have been nearly a whole avocado in the bowl. Thinking about a cool quiet morning gives the outdoor seating options appeal.

A lovely spot for a healthy breakfast and incredible quality coffee. I highly recommend the green bowl - it was deconstructed and really satisfying! The salmon gravlax was also really tasty and very refreshing.

Me and my friends were away for the weekend in Brisbane. Saw the good reviews and definitely could not recommend it more. We had a blast, great food and staff!
Salmon tartare was my favorite 🤩

Perfect place for breakfast or brunch.
Food and service was great.
Staff is lovely.
I'll be back if I am around Brisbane again.

Great matcha latte and brunch offer!
Service was great - the girls were nice and caring, food came out fast.
Bread was good and products fresh.
I would definitely recommend.

Great food and nice layout with an upstairs dining area as well but really it was the breakfast. Went there both mornings for scrambled eggs on toast. Very well prepared and very good helping, but what really set it apart? They buttered the toast before serving no fiddling trying get the lids of those microtubs of butter. Would recommend for this alone.

Fantastic, healthy and unique food. It is best cafe!!! Strongly recommend~^^

They lose 2 stars for the superior snooty attitude towards serving decaf coffee. Some people like the taste of coffee without the jitters. It’s not a handicap. It’s a choice which this place has decided to withdraw from its clientele. The table service and friendliness of the weekend waitress was over and above. She gets the 3 stars.

Great little joint with lots of seating upstairs, downstairs and outside! I can by just be for the lunchtime rush to catch up with a friend. I have heard lots of good thing about this place and it’s rated one of Brisbane’s most Instagram worthy places to go to.
Really good service, the staff were friendly an attentive. The menu was ok, I guess I was expecting a few more options than what was presented. Non the less I picked the pumpkin salad and boy was I amazed!!! Sooooooo yummy and sooooo pretty! I would totally recommend coming here for salad! 👊🏻

The coffee here is very good & well presented but we definitely needed those double shots to reap that smooth flavor. The toasties are also tasty with thick bread. I ordered a vegetarian one & it had a great spiced flavor & plentiful selection of fillings

Not the first time to have coffee here but the first time to have a light brekkie in one Sunday of early September. Walked in when the café just started the day's trading. Took a seat at the back and ordered the coffee to go with the Truffle Salami Toasties. Coffee was well presented with strength and taste that tailored to my palate. Toasties was made of generous portions of salami and cheddar. I love the additional spicy mayo, which deliveries the subtle degree of hot element. This innovation deserves thumb-up :)
4.5/5

We saw the write up on King Arthur and since we will up the road we thought we would stray from our local favs and try something new We ordered the spiced eggs and vanilla waffles; the price of both were approx $18. The food overall was a 2/5. The waffles we sent back because they were dry, dense and awful tasting. The eggs were equivalent of a $10 serve you can get up the road at other venues. The coffee was it’s only savour. The service was dismal, nobody smiles, it took ten minutes for someone to acknowledge us and then after waiting another 20 minutes to order, we were then told food is a forty minute wait. I would give the coffee 5/5, so averaging an overall rating of 3/5. Go there for coffee, but not for good.

A slightly underwhelming experience this morning. You feel the excitement of the place when you walk in, cyclists sipping their espresso outside, morning corporates taking meetings inside and wandering upstairs, you feel that this is going to be one of those cool places you will keep coming back to. The coffee was lacklustre and food good, but not great. Also service a little slow which may be due to be short staffed, not sure.
Great promise, look forward to checking it out again one day to hopefully see some
Improvements.

My partner and I often come here for a late breakfast but the food is always great! We love it when we haven’t been for a while and the menu has changed so we can try something new again, since once you love something we always tend to get the same thing 😆 Apart from that sometimes since they are so busy on the weekends, try to go early since there’s been a couple of times they’ve been sold out on some of the popular dishes.

Nice-ish coffee, ordinary food.
Had the saddest two poached eggs on toast imaginable - asked for soft poached, and were nearly hardening. No butter. ($13)
Friend got the same with mushrooms, mushies were nice. Other friend had scrambled which looked nice but ordinary.
Have no idea why it's so popular & won't return.

Hands down my favourite place for coffee in this neighbourhood. Setting is cute, love they have outdoor area, through inside sometimes hot in summer. Food is always great
Matt
Small cap, large cap and large long black with extra shot. Long black size was underwhelming but otherwise acceptable flavour and consistency. Chocolate "dusting" overpowered the caps, coffee flavoured got chocolate anyone. Not the worst coffee, good otherwise but not on the top of my list. Overall the location lacks atmosphere and a smile from the staff wouldn't go astray. Probably won't be back while better options exist in a saturated coffee market. Harrison Raymond

Went for a mid week breakfast. Lovely spot and great fit out. Coffee was only ok (much better options around) and meal portions were tiny. Pricing is definitely "trendy". Need to pick their game up. Oh.. and my single piece of toast was burnt. Gums still hurt 😶

Second time here! Great to have this to start a day ❤ everything is fresh and yummy (those lovely mushrooms 🍄), always wanna to be back again.
Coffee wasn't the greatest and an hour wait for food, go somewhere else. Good location although if your driving parking can be difficult to find.

I really enjoyed the lunch at @kingarthurcafe yesterday. A delicious sandwich ($12) with an espresso milkshake ($7.5). Now I can't remember all the ingredients on this toasted sandwich but it was along the lines of poached chicken, cucumber, dill & spinach on @sproutartisanbakery bread. The chicken was moist and flavoured really well with a strong dill taste.
The cafe is pet friendly too which is a plus

Was there 10 minutes past opening time, and there were 5 customers in the cafe. Had to wait 15min for a takeaway coffee and ended up being late for work. Furthermore, customers who ordered after me were served their takeaway coffees despite me standing in clear sight of the barista. I'm not one to complain, but this is just sloppy. As a relatively fledgling cafe, you simply cannot afford to be off your game, especially with there being 5 other cafes within a 1km radius serving high quality coffee. This is not good enough.
Gerard
Interesting menu, had very tasty eggs and sausage! Friendly staff. Had nice cold pressed juice. Very tastefully decorated too. Definitely one of better Ne Farm cafes. I'll be back for sure!

Waiting for an appointment 2 doors up and just happened to look up and spot this place. From the outside, it looks gorgeous. Stools and little coffee tables outsides decorated modestly with a small plants and salt/pepper shakers. Bigger plants decorate the entrance.

Upon entry, as I expected for the Valley area, neat and modern. One of my favourite things about some of the older buildings in the Valley is that they are old hangars. This adds so much character. The decor inside is quite a contrast to the outdoor area out of the front but still nice. Minimalistic and clean. There are a few tables downstairs and I'm assuming a few more tables upstairs (I looked up and could see someone seated at a table).

At the counter where I was ordering on some wooden boards, crossiants, a zucchini and lemon loaf and peanut butter & choc chip biscuits. Their cabinet had a few other goodies but nothing that caught my eye.

I ordered a slice of the zucchini and lemon loaf and a mocha. The loaf was lovely - the zucchini has kept the loaf moist with some texture from the poppy seeds. I found that the lemon didn't really come through which was a little disappointing because I found the cream cheese icing to be quite rich. The citrus hit would have cut through that nicely.

The coffee I'm not a big fan of - it tasted quite bitter and I didn't get a chocolate note at all coming through. I will try it this place again for sure.

Not a great first experience. The sourdough was burnt you needed a steak knife just to cut it. The polenta was a soup of polenta with two carrots and the poached eggs were on one small piece of bread for $18 with one burnt piece of bacon. When we went to pay we were told we couldn't split the bill, this wasn't mentioned on arrival nor was it on the menu. We insisted, and were told they would do it this once but don't do it on weekends because it's "time consuming" and a "big hassle". I'm sorry but I didn't realise paying customers were a hassle and it took no more than 2 minutes. We won't be returning or recommending our friends and family to try it out. The wait staff were lovely and attentive, it's a shame their management team don't lead by example.

Portion size was huge & once again staff were more than happy to alter their dishes to suit the vegan in me. We sat upstairs & was left alone most of the time, coffee was delicious too

Updated review 23/12/16: so this morning I visited King Arthur for brunch again and what could have been a disaster ended up a really positive experience - they forgot to enter my order into the system and when they realized the error they made accommodations for me that I didn't expect but was glad they did - this differs from other experiences at other establishments as they caught the error and apologized and they made amendments which I didn't think they had too. It definitely turned an experience which I wouldn't have returned into one that makes me retain them on my recommendation list and want to visit again

Original review 26 Aug 2016: I can see why this place is so popular (which doesn't mean I'd line up for it, but before 9 on a weekend and you should be fine). The coffee was good, the polenta dish was soul warming and filling

Coffee here is good, and the food is simple yet flavoursome with a focus on quality and local produce. Highly recommend. Not pretentious like many other cafes popping up nowadays.

Lovely, interesting food always presented nicely. Beautiful decor and place make it a very enjoyable time out. I've been here a number of times and am always happy with the food, however the service is a hit and miss. Most recently, I took my family here for what was meant to be a nice lunch to catch up over, but unfortunately we were served by one of the rudest waitresses I've met - way too good for us and her job, and very unfriendly. So disappointing, as rudeness immediately ruins the mood, and it's hard to enjoy the meal (and make your family believe that it actually is a nice cafe to come to!)...

Went there with friends for brunch on busy Saturday morning. Had the fish omelette, seared mushrooms and flourless chocolate cake. All of them tasted great, especially the cake, not to sweet with a bit of raw cocoa bitterness. For drinks we ordered soy latte, cappuccino and banana smoothie. Smoothie is average, you can make better one at home. Despite the friendly service, waiting time was rather long and took us almost 30 minutes for them to arrive.

Our breakfast location was King Arthur Cafe in the Valley. Don’t worry, there are no Knights of the Round Table themed dishes. The cafe is named after Arthur St, where it’s located. Menus fall into two categories. Those with little to tempt and those with far to much to choose from. King Arthur fell into the second. Was I going to have the smoked fish omelette w green mango, roast pork belly w sweet potato hash on the breakfast special or the goat bahn mi? So much to choose from. In the end I opted by the local mushrooms w harissa, zucchini fritters, labneh and poached eggs.

A great place for coffee or if you can wait then excellent breakfast. The latest version of their omelettes with smoked fish is absolutely amazing and a must-try. The juices are fresh and sizeable and coffees perfect. Looking forward to their next version of omelette when they change their menu (it really is that good).

Finally made it after reading raving reviews about this place. We were however disappointed with the service. The decor was modern and the cafe had a lovely atmosphere about it. However, it seemed as though the barista had a grumpy start and service was pleasant but frosty. It is a great pity as some of the other cafes in the area seem to provide better service and the staff are always thoughtful. I found it rather disconcerting that when I made my way downstairs to have a look at their pastries and cakes no one bothered to tell me what the pastries were (only two of their cakes/pastries had cards that said what they were, the others weren't) despite being around and seeing that I was there. It was not until the lady that took our coffee orders came back to the counter that she politely asked what I was after. When I asked about the day's selection, she wasn't sure and had to check on what the day's selection by asking the barista. The food was presented well, but I cannot say that the combinations were stunning. Perhaps if the flavours were a little more balanced, it would be stunning. This cafe has huge potential and is probably run by individuals with the best intentions, however the little things that matter didn't quite come together. The breakfast was pretty costly, it would have been nice to have warmer service - that would have made it totally worth it.

King Arthur does justice to simple ingredients, with clever combinations and inviting presentation. The food is delicious and the service is friendly and efficient. The building, and music that fills it, creates a relaxed and cool ambience. This is how it's done.

A place that lives up to the hype. A few friends had recommended and it took me a while to actually go, but so glad once I did. I have been back a few times now. Service is usually efficient and food is always lovely.
Dolce Bunnie
The food is definitely on a pricier side but both dishes were flavoursome with the steamy congee being a knockout option. A soft boiled egg sat atop layers of tender meat, juicy shiitake mushrooms, and brown rice cooked just to the right texture.

Tried the new menu this morning- had the smoked local fish and loved it! Great flavours, drinks are amazing and coffee is great! It is hard not to pick up a pastry on the way out. The meal portions aren't huge but still really satisfying, love this place

King Arthur is a must visit if you are in New Farm/The Valley. Fresh pastries daily from Sprout Bakery as well as in house baking and an outstanding breakfast/lunch menu accompany the most excellent tasting and consistently made coffee I've found around Brisbane. Lovely staff and a calm, inviting aesthetic will make you feel at home.

pleasantly surprised after the line ups I've witnessed driving past after opening I decided to wait until the 'new place for breakfast' hype died down a little. Great fit out, I think I could move in! I've been twice with a different menu each time, winter menu seemed like the spring menu & it's spring the menu seems to be more winter orientated but anyhoooo it all looks great either way! Clean pressed juices are a must, vege juice is addictive. Mushroom main was super yummy and omelette equally yummy. Menu has a good mix for the breakfast experimenters on the sweet and/or savory options plus the good 'ol traditionalists can still have their bacon & eggs. Recommended for a visit!

Went here on a busy Saturday morning. Coffee was great and staff were fantastic, I couldn't fault the service. My breakfast partner and I thought the food on the other hand was pretty underwhelming. I had the bacon and egg burger. This particular version is a spin on the breakfast menu classic and included a 'slaw' and a bacon steak as apposed to rashes, which I wasn't a big fan of. It was also expensive ($17) compared to Campos' $12 version, which is fantastic btw. I can see why they would want to differentiate their offerings form the other heavy-hitters in the area, however in doing so I feel they've missed the mark.

I came to realise I now have the perfect excuse to visit cafes outside the chaotic weekend hustle – a godsend when you need a little extra room for a baby pram at the table and just want some quiet to glance at the news.

I am always craving sweet breakfasts lately, and had my eyes on the Sourdough crumpets with rhubarb and honeycomb crumble. Being sourdough, the crumpets were very dense and although they soaked up the rhubarb very well, I was really looking for something creamy on the plate as well, some mascarpone perhaps? The honeycomb was generously spread across the crumpets and was divine.

The moment I walked in I felt as if I had come before they'd opened. 2 staff members had their backs to the door and didn't see me arrive, a 3rd staff member saw me and ignored my presence. He then proceeded to walk past me twice without as much of a smile even when I look him blank in the eye smiled and said hello. It was only once I went to the counter to ask if they were open that I was acknowledged and given a menu (which I had to ask for). There were no other customers so there really is no excuse for ignoring people. He could have even alerted the other staff that I was there. The food was good, so no complaints there and the girl who served us once she arrived was good. For a first impression, I was very disappointed and have never felt more awkward and unwelcome when entering an establishment.

I had high expectations of this cafe but unfortunately I was quite disappointed. The decor in this store is great and staff were quite friendly. I don't know if it was because we came on a Sunday morning but the staff took our drinks order and then completely forgot about asking us about our mains which is fine because we did get their attention to order.. But even then the food took 40mins to come. If the food was amazing id be okay with this but we ordered the duck sausage roll.. It was really nothing great very bland and way too much pickle on the side the dish just wasn't as good as I was hoping.

Best food and coffee I have had in Brisbane for a long time. Staff are very friendly and service is fast. Definitely our new favourite spot!

King Arthur Cafe made it onto my hit list; boasting baked treats, good coffee and delicious food. When we were in New Farm it was the first thing that popped into my head. All day breakfasts are all the rage at the moment. Although I was disappointed that when our waitress mentioned the specials most of them related to changes to the menu because they were out of stock. We opted for the Mt Cotton Mushrooms and the salad of the day and dear lordy were they delish!

Haven't tried the food. I live on the same street and this is always packed out at the weekend.
Gave the coffee a try when they were a bit quieter and was very sad that I wasted $4.
Went home and made a proper one with my aeropress!

Far better coffee just a couple of blocks away in the Valley

Judging from the crowd of people waiting for a table on Sunday morning, King Arthur needs no introduction. Opened recently just off James Street, it is brought to you by the team behind @merriweathercaf. Housed in a beautiful old two story building, it is a lovely albeit loud space filled with lovely blue tiles. Our group of five squeezed around half of the large table upstairs (there aren't a lot of large tables), and enjoyed the avocado on rye with bay leaf ricotta and pistachio; the sourdough crumpets with rhubarb and honeycomb crumble; the slow cooker goat with tomato and sourdough; the grilled flatbread with chickpeas, beans and a fried duck egg and I indulged in a special of bread and butter French toast with roasted pear and ricotta. Service was very attentive and friendly.

First visit today and loved it. We can't wait to come back and try more.

Gorgeous use of a small space. Service was quick and friendly, coffee was on point, food was yummy. Menu offers both cheap classics and more pricey dishes using premium quality ingredients. Also delish looking salads and treats at the counter. Something for everybody and a winner in my books!

After some excellent intelligent conversation about the world, as we of course do, our meals were brought out. All attractively plated and each looking more delicious than the last. L's succulent looking shredded slow roasted lamb was draped over the thick slice of dark seeded Sprout Artisan sourdough with sauteed spinach interwoven throughout. The sauce was thick and described by L as 'rich but not too rich'. TS's slice of sourdough was topped with a generous amount of chunky mashed (not smashed) avocado and topped with an ample amount of bay leaf ricotta, parsley and crushed pistachio. My dish arrived with two slices of bread with the pilchards (sardines) and poached egg placed on top with a large dollop of the truffle-infused seeded mustard, several sprigs of parsley and thyme and a wedge of lemon.
