Review Sky Indian Restaurant - Brisbane

Raju Swar
Shitiest samosa I ever had. They were very small, some weird shape and the filling was filthy. They had corn and carrot inside, the frozen veg from coles. I am so regretting my decision. No wonder why there are no any customer there. Please don't go here, at least don't eat the samosas ( I don't think they are samosa anyway).

I would rate this place 0 out of 5 if I could. We only dealt with the owner of this restaurant over the phone and he was the rudest person in customer service I’ve EVER spoken to! I placed an order and paid for the food through an app. The restaurant then called me and said they won’t be accepting my order as they don’t want to accept any more orders through the app. I didn’t understand what they meant as I had already paid and was on my way to pick up the food. The staff member then passed the phone to the restaurant owner and the owner told me it’s not his problem that I’ve already paid for the food and that I need to contact the app directly. He said “We won’t be cooking your order. It’s not my problem that you ordered through the app, it’s yours” and then hung up. Watch out for his hospitality. Having never tried the food, his tone of voice, rude remarks and attitude drove us away! We certainly won’t ever order from this place again and will be warning others about this place.

Excellent chicken Moglai and the breads were just perfect. The service was very friendly but the meals took a little longer than expected. A great meal overall, I will definitely be back.

Worst Tika Masala. Chicken was breast meat cut in large cubes, so tough and hardly cooked in the Tandoor oven. The sauce was more like the consistency of a butter chicken very thick and smooth. Tasted like condensed tomato soup with a few Indian spices. Very disappointing, I always keep leftovers but this wasn't going to be tomorrows dinner!

I am extremely picky when I eat out and often leave restaurants deconstructing the whole evening with my partner. Sky Indian was exceptional. To start with, the timing was perfect. I didnt find myself waiting way to long for food, and I also didnt feel like I was being rushed to leave. The food was absolutely delicious. The curry was superb, not too heavy, and the Medium was just right. The pappadums were the very best I have ever had. They got the order right and the meal size was quite generous. The price was good and I was suprised by how happy I was with the whole experience. I have definitely found my favorite Indian restaurant! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Very good Indian food. Friendly servers. Satisfying meals. Enjoyed having a large group celebration here on my birthday a couple of years ago.

bought a voucher for this restaurant and they refused to honour it, the night I made the booking for they were closed, it was close to xmas but I had been assured when making the booking they would be open. when I was able to contact them in the new year they said they had copied down my phone number incorrectly and couldn't contact me, the gentleman I spoke to said I could use it at a later date even though it had past the expiry date, when I rang to make to make a new booking the woman who said she was the manager said that man didn't work there anymore who I had spoken to and they wouldn't be honouring it, I have never come across someone as rude as this woman was, she was argumentative and down right nasty about the whole situation, needless to say I have never eaten there nor would I want to after the experience I had with this woman.

Always very happy with my meals from Sky Indian. Complimentary nice and lovely soft naan is a great touch.

Was ok. Thankfully we have a lovely Indian restaurant in Rosalie as we do like our Indian food. The curries lacked spice and flavour. Wont be going back

Have been coming to Sky Indian since 2012. This is by far the best curry I have had, and I've traveled through Nepal and India. They may not be a typical watery, overpoweringly spicy curry (if you prefer those, you may no enjoy the curry here) - I would say they are creamier and robust in flavour. If you're open minded about trying new curry, I would recommend Sky Indian in a heartbeat. The garlic naan is great, and ever curry comes with rice. Drinks are cheap too. The customer service is fantastic as well.

The Butter Chicken I had here was absolutely delicious, nice and creamy with very tender pieces of chicken. The curries here are nice, however they do not at all taste authentic or the way that true Indian food should. The best way to describe the food here is if you remove all of the spice and soul from Indian food in order to cater to Western taste buds that cannot handle any sort of flavour or spice. This is the sort of place you can take elderly relatives who are too afraid to try food from other cultures as you don't have to worry about ordering anything spicy or adventurous - even if you ask for a really spicy Vindaloo here it will be as mild as a Butter Chicken...So if you want authentic Indian food I would go somewhere else. That isn't to say that the food here is bad, this place just caters purely to white suburban taste buds.

Love it. Have been coming here for a while and it always cures a hangover. Veggie Dahl is delish as have been all the chicken dishes I've tried- well seasoned . Naan and pappadams are delicious too They always give you extra rice too which sorts you out for lunch the next day. Can't beat $5 delivery either. .

This is our favourite Indian takeaway. The Lamb Madras is always full of flavour. We also like their Tandoori Chicken. Garlic Naan is always freshly made.

I won't be back. Very friendly service, but the naan was dry and I didn't even eat it. The chicken was tough too. The lamb very bland and the vindaloo not that spicy. Sorry guys

Yum. Food is good, but I find portions small. Nevertheless it tastes alright, but can do with a bit more spice. They make to order, so if you have some special requirements, they will listen))

No taste and small meals. Received two main meals, rices and naan and were very disappointed in the flavour. All tastes watery and garlic naan has no taste at all. Very disappointed.

Fantastic consistency. Fantastic ordered take away 5. Times superb every time

Great quality ingredients cooked with authentic Indian flavours. The beef vindaloo is highly recommended. Naans are soft and fresh. Highly recommended.

I think they've been writing their own reviews. The front of house woman was nice. Other than that it was the worst Indian I've had, including meals I've made when drunk and I'm not a good chef. If any other Brisbane Indian restaurant has the same flavourless, pre-packaged taste then I'll avoid buying Indian in this city.

Amazing curries! Have been eating here regularly for the last 6 months and all ingredients are high quality, reasonably priced and a really good size! Highly recommend over any chain Indian!

Great local Indian Restaurant. It's hard to compete with the chain Indian restaurants around Brisbane but Sky Indian does a great job. Their food is always fresh and delicious and their prices are affordable. I love their Madras and Rogan Josh and their Naan are to die for. It is definitely worth a visit!

Dinner Saturday 5th October. My first and last visit to this restaurant was last Saturday. The mixed entrees were very oily as were the mains. Rice was perfect and the breads were a good size. My main complaint is the waitress's reluctance to provide fresh cutlery. After the entrees were eaten, I placed the used cutlery on top of the entree plate in readiness for the main course assuming, as is standard practice in restaurants, that fresh cutlery would be provided. I was then told by the waitress to remove the cutlery from the entree plate and keep for the mains. I was dumbfounded and proceeded to clean the cutlery with a napkin. Epic fail trying to wipe dried tandoori sauce and raita from the knife and fork. Perhaps I should have insisted on clean cutlery but didn't want to make a scene in front of other diners.

Have bought takeaway from Sky for the passed three years and its great. Reasonable price, cheap delivery, great taste. Worth it.

Okay..... We love our Indian and having been to all in and around Paddington, Milton and Auchenflower for years. They're all starting to lack quality - cheap cuts of meat and strangely bland flavours. So, after reading the reviews of Sky Indian, we went for a takeaway on a Saturday night.

The beef vindaloo (medium) was okay - nice enough flavours, but nowhere near hot enough. There was some fat to the meat, and that's a real turn-off for me.

The palak paneer was weird. I was expecting lovely large chunks of paneer - actually, I was really looking forward to it. However, they must all assume those who purchase this meal wear falsies (teeth, that is) 'cause it was blended to a thick soup consistency. Weirdly sickly sweet flavour and nothing to chew on. Very disappointing.

The samosas were also a bit of a let-down. Indians do THE best pastry for these usually, but this was just cooked dough. The mixture was a blend of frozen veg (peas, corn and carrot) with little to no spice.

The breads were pretty nice - lovely ghee laden things. V. nice.

I'm not sure we'll return - not in a hurry, anyway.

Great takeaway. It was a wet rainy night and I didn't feel much like cooking. I rang up Sky restaurant and asked about home delivery - to my surprise the cost of home delivery was VERY reasonable, only $5! The food prices were really good too, with a main costing around $15 and a free serving of rice. The lamb saag was tasty, full of spinach and spices and the lamb was very tender. Chicken tikka masala was also very lovely and flavoursome. The garlic naan was warm, soft and fresh. Very happy with this restaurant, will definitely buy from them again!

This is a fabulous Indian takeaway reataurant. Kills any other Indian restaurant I know, including Halims, Sitar, Sultans kitchen etc. Do yourself a favour :) my favourites are Butter chicken, Lamb Cutlets for entree and Paleer Panak. Beautiful.

Great food, great value. This is undeniably my favourite Indian restaurant and takeaway in Brisbane - and I have tried the majority of them. Although the restaurant is usually quite quiet, the service is good, and the food is delicious. I love the butter chicken and the mixed entree. Regular takeaway diner, about once a fortnight.

Tried thus place for the first time with my lady friend. It was a slow night so we practically had the place to ourselves. It was lovely. I'm not sure if it was intentional or not but at some point, the lights were dimmed. My friend and I had a giggle over it. The service was average. The lady who served us was reasonable. Now we get to the crux of this review. The food was sensational. We had a butter chicken, palak paneer, naan bread, tandoori lamb cutlets, and pilau rice. The palak paneer was the best I've ever had in the northside. It goes the same for the butter chicken and lamb cutlets! Thus restaurant desrved the award they got from The Good Food Guide un 2012. Definitely a great place to go on a quiet dinner. They allow you split the bill or pay individually, where most restaurants only allow one bill per table. Definitely recommending it to everyone.

I'm a regular take away junkie at sky . Quality of produce great portion size heaps for one and comes with rice. Always enough to add to fresh rice and make lunch .
Linda
Very average curry. The nan bread wasn't the best but still edible. The steamed rice that comes for free is very good. Overall I would rather go to a night in Toowong.

We love Sky! It's the best Indian we have found in Brisbane, not vat sauces poured over meat, always cooked properly. Our favourites are the lamb dal, eggplant curry, saag gosht... We go all the time, it's so good!

Delicious!. I love this place, the curries - especially the chicken rogan josh, my fave - always taste amazing. Proportions are generous and prices are more than fair. I live just up the road and I order from these guys all the time. Definitely recommend!

Abosolutely Hopeless. I went with my family on a saturday night. It was empty wherelse the restaurant next door had a line up of ppl.
The entree was the only thing we enjoyed. The calamari rings were delcious but after that it was downhill. The butter chicken was terrible, prawn vindaloo was not eatable, the rice was pathetic and naan was too hard. The waitress who was the manager as well was informed of this and hopefully the chef was told of our disgust.

Very tasty, but maybe not so healthy?. Mrs Wife and I had dinner at Sky Indian a couple of weeks ago. The food was extremely tasty but also extremely rich. The first clue was the rice, which resembled a rice pudding. My guess is that they use a lot of Ghee (clarified butter) in their dishes. While this certainly adds richness, it also adds a lot of fat and calories.

So, if you like your curries extra creamy and rich, but don't care about your arteries or waistline, give Sky Indian a try. Just don't make a habit of it!

Best in Brisbane. Went to Sky the first day i moved to Brisbane, i was so impressed coming from a small town, I had never eaten this type of food before so yes i became rather fond of Indian cuisine. I have tried quite a few Indian restaurants around Brisbane and yet Sky remains my favorite. The staff are fantastic and extremely accommodating, i make at least a monthly visit now:)
My favorites are the Medium Lamb/Chicken Madras (seeing as though i try and make "healthy decisions" this one is cooked in garlic, tomatoes and onion without any coconut cream yay), Saag Paneer Nann and the Mixed Entree is so good!

Great food and service :). I went to Sky Indian restaurant with my friend when it was quiet during lunch time. I had beef Madras (hot), and it was absolutely delicious. It had great flavour and it was pretty hot which I liked.
Garlic naan was huge and curry seemed small at first, but once we got into it, it really wasn't.
Staff was really nice and will be back to try other dishes :)

Not sure about the "best" Indian restaurant comments. Had butter chicken that was cooked in far too much oil, same went for the mattar paneer. Rice was very gluggy, either overcooked...or possibly more oil! The garlic naan however could not be faulted.

Great and simple Indian. Always great food and although sometimes it can take a a while to cook, it's worth the wait! Haven't dined in but get takeaway a lot and it's always a treat!

Great Food. Monday night and it was very quiet in the Restaurant and the service was great. No rush to get the meals to you. Food was wonderful - half of which we have taken home because the portions were so big.
1 mixed entre, 2 curries, rice, naan bread for $44.
Bottle shop around the corner and a roaring take home trade. They deserve to be full even on Monday night!

Awesome Indian food!! Large meals & good service.

Fantastic. Best Indian I have had yet, so far in Brisbane. The serving was huge, the naan was big... the whole meal had great flavour, nothing like I have had before in this town. I ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh which had a nice sweet and creamy consistency and the meat was so soft and tender. I also had the saag paneer, which was filled with a good amount of spinach and the naan had a lovely soft texture.

The prices were very reasonable too. The special lunch menu was priced from just $7-9 and the naan was just under $3. Totally worth more for the quality I received.

Though the facade wasn't the greatest, the inside is nice.
I definetly HIGHLY recommend this place.

Best Indian food in Brisbane. Having been to India, I can appreciate authentic food. Served by lovely staff. Fabulous mid week cheap and tasty dinner. Recommend butter chicken

Just up the road from our work office. All the guys here love it, and get it weekly. Great lunch special prices. Very strong flavours and good service. It may look a bit drab on the outside, but it is quite nice on the inside.

Great quality, authentic, good prices. This is the best Indian place I've found on the north side of Brisbane. You can taste (and sometimes see) the real spices used in each curry, it's very authentic and delicious. The lamb dishes are fantastic, as is the saag paneer naan. No 'nondescript brown gravy from a bucket' style curries here. Lovely light, crispy, huge naan breads. One dish easily serves two people with naan, so it's quite good value. This place only opened a few months ago and is still pretty quiet, so you'll get quick service too.

Have enjoyed take away from here on a couple if occasions. Both times very enjoyable. Different mains on both occasions and different consistencies. Both good quality. They do a range of deals throughout the week so it's worth stopping by to pick up a menu to keep in the drawer at home.
