We were craving Thai food that night and choosing Thai Nakonlanna was a great choice because it filled us up! We ordered on UberEats a Chicken Pad Thai Noodles ($14) and some Satay Chicken ($8.50).
The Pad Thai was a little on the oily side but it was still delicious and the portions were big so we were filled quickly. The Satay Chicken on the other hand were made amazingly, the sauce we think was the main reason why the skewers tasted so addictive. The Satay Chicken skewers were the great mix of savoury and sweet. Overall, our late Ubereats order was a success to satisfying our night cravings☺️💕

We ordered student meal. The red curry and chicken wings was really good . Really enjoyed it . The staff was really good person with nice attitude . I didn’t like the Tom yum sweet and sour soup . Overall nice experience .
Quick and cheap Thai food. Very generous portion sizes. I have tried the fried rice, pad thai and massamun curry and they were great. WARNING: Do not get Thai Spicy Level 5. You will die. I mean, I can eat some pretty spicy foods but I struggle with a 2 or 3 here. The spice levels here do vary by +/- 1...
A friend who works at the University of Queensland recommended the place since it was close by and had nice food. We came for a $12.90 2 course lunch special. I had the pad thai with shrimp toast. Pad thai was nice since you can choose the spiciness level and it was just right for me. Prawn toast was alright but the filling was a bit wet. Service was alright, probably didn't help that she had to repeat which entrees were included in the lunch menu.
This is definitely my fav restaurant. I always go here at least twice a month. The foods taste so good! and yes, the food portion is large and the spiciness level is really spicy.
I usually order their beef/chicken fried rice, Pad Thai or Tom Yum. (they serve halal meat)
For those who love delicious food with decent price, you should give it a go😊
A decent place to get your Thai fix, with generous portions. It's great for student wallets and service is fast. Try their pad Thai and curries.
The food is good here. Better than other Thai place places in Queensland. But still a 3.5/5, cause I really wouldn't want to try this again. The best thing about this place is they really mean spicy when they are asking to decide your spicy level,unlike the other places in St Lucia and Brisbane cbd. One place where I was satisfied with the chilly In food. I picked the level 3 spicy even though I am a big fan of spicy food. So yeah, not sure if I should recommend you to go above that unless you are really brave. My friend will be there to try level 5. I will update how it goes for her.
My partner and I met another couple here about a year ago (their choice) and since then, have been back at least 30 times. Food is delicious, I am a spicy lover and my partner is not and they cater to both of us. The service varies, but that is based on how busy they are... and a busy restaurant is a good sign! Love it, especially the price :)

Some of the reviews on here are harsh. We have never been let down. It isn't the out going "HOW ARE YOU! How is your day" service. But down to earth, take your order and take a seat, they leave you to your own business.

Really delicious Thai food. My favorite dishes will have to be the pad Thai and the tomyum fried rice (off menu item). The green curry is really flavourful too and recommended. Favorite place to chill with friends especially after a tiring day of studying.

I like to provide my reviews after visiting a particular restaurant a few times so that I can be as unbiased as possible. I've dined at Thai Nakonlanna quite a few times over the last year and most recently last month. I frequently order the Pad Thai and the quality of the dish has been very good. I order the chicken Pad Thai and the quality of the meat served is nice. The overall flavour is not overpowering and all ingredients taste fresh. Although, I sense a drop in the quantity provided in a combo meal's main course serving but I will make a couple of more visits to determine if this is indeed the case (If there are others who have ordered mains separately and in a student combo, and have identified a difference in quantity between the two, please comment!). The combo meals available to students is of good value. However, when it comes to customer service that is where this establishment loses points and may be a determining factor in whether you chose to dine here or not. I believe the standards for customer service are poor. I understand that this is a popular eat out which gets fairly crowded every night, but I fail to see this as an excuse. Whether it's the body language, the tone of conversation or the way your are communicated with, I do not sense a passion for customer service or a desire to give customers the best experience at the restaurant. While the food is good, I would like to see Thai Nakonlanna make an effort in improving their customer service. I value customer service very highly which is why I have almost stopped dining here and prefer to head to 'Thai at Home' which is another Thai restaurant located on the opposite side and provides brilliant customer service as well as excellent Thai food. I know of several other diners that share the same view of Thai Nakonlanna's customer service so I would like to think that my opinion is not isolated. I really hope there is an improvement in the overall service as the food is very good but good food is only a part of a restaurant's service model...
UPDATE:The management at Thai Nakonlanna was very receptive of the constructive feedback I provided. I had the chance to visit a couple of times within the last few weeks and there was a definite improvement in service. The food was great as always, the Pad Thai and the Thai Red Curry were wonderfully prepared but the steamed rice was clearly undercooked. I was able to provide this feedback to the team and I was assured that the issue with the rice would be looked into. I'm pleased to see the improvement and do hope you pay a visit and comment on how your experience went.
Students' favorite, I always go here at least once a month. They have student deal and the portion is huge that I always have to take away the rest. Another plus thing is the spiciness level is no joke so spicy food lover, rejoice! Sometimes waiting a bit long due to many people eating here.
Love this thai restaurant for the delicious food and its service. The manager is a nice person and waitress here are friendly. It won't take long for the meals. I love their curry and beef fried rice, very recommend!
I've been to this restaurant many times as it is near uq. It's my favorite restaurant at St lucia. The food is delicious and the waitresses are so kind and patient to answer all of our questions. Especially, the price of student special is reasonable. I can get a small entree and any main meal except for seafood and duck. Level 2 spiciness is quite spicy for us. Level 3 is a challenge for me hahah. Overall, I am satisfied with this restaurant.
ive been to st lucia recently and wasnt suprised that this thai restaurant so outstanding over the others on the same street. The food here was great and the waiters were patient with the specils explaining. The price was appropriate as well. Overall i was so contented with my experience and would be there again real soon.:)
P.S. the waiters there pretty gd looking too.
Been here few times with my friends. The food was awesome and the people here were so friendly. We loved the hot & sour soup so much. They offer student specials for only ＄11.96, you will get an entree with any of the main from the menu, just except for the duck and seafood they will charge extra $4. Big portion of food which worth more than the price and you can choose your own level of spicy! Level 3 is really spicy for us. Challenge yourself for level 5 if you think you can eat really spicy!
A really favorite! I loved their Tom yum soup and glad that they had levels of spiciness for it. Took level 4 and it was fiery hot. Great hospitality as they offered creme brûlée as dessert for free
Excellent!. Absolutely fantastic feed for a great price, the staff were great and made my friends birthday dinner an extremely enjoyable night. Nice little outdoor area too

Amazing!. Great food, awesome service and even better price. Staff were lovely and very accommodating. Dishes can be made to suit how spicy you like your food and portion sizes are very generous! Dessert was also good but would have liked my chocolate brownie with some ice-cream. Overall a very pleasant experience and i will be back! i recommend the pad thai!
Go here. When you walk in you know that they care, the service is wonderful and attentive. They provide a free entree, with a main that you can almost never finish unless you're a very big eater and even freshly cut fruit to top it all off. The food is fresh from the farmer's market and consistent with every order. If this isn't enough, then did I mention that everything on the menu is priced between $12 and $15? Simply awesome, both for the cheap uni student and even for those who enjoy the life of decadence.

Thai Nakonlanna. For quite some time I have noticed this place and just how popular it is with people. As is often the case with Thai restaurants, the service here is really accomodating and they serve plenty of food in great helpings. It is a rare case here where there is the nice aspects of dining with affordability; it would be the kind of place students could to go in groups and/or to treat their parents. You certainly get bang for your buck here.
To eat here, I got the dinner time special which is where there is a choice of drink (Thai tea or soda), choice of entree, choice of main (lamb and seafood extra costs) and choice of dessert all for under $20. This is hard to beat for value.
I chose to have the tea as a drink, and with its thermal heat it lasted most of the meal. In all honesty, I am not much of a tea expert so I cannot commment a lot on it. The colour of the tea after the bag (no string, it had to be extracted by spoon for fingers) was red and had a strong hint of berry to it. It was really soothing.
When I mentioned the helpings were great, a good example was when the entree came out. Often a singular deal might get one or two lots of an entree; here there were four (or maybe five) little nuggets of calamari well-arranged on the plate. They were really well cooked, with the squid meat tender and juicy emitting the sweet flavours and perfectly cooked semi-tempura batter. It was served with a couple of ornamental vegetable garnishings and a small tub of sweet chilli sauce.
Next was the pork panang, and boy was the serving generous. They had a great peanut-satay sauce throughout the meal, covering a wide and colourful assortment of vegetables plus good quality pork meat that was tender. It was slightly spicy and really filling.
There were two desserts during the meal. Now before you wickedly drool, they both were fruit-based. With some knowldge of traditional customs, I understand some cultures use orange to signify the end of the night. That was the first dessert. I was really full by the time the second dessert and final dish of the night was rolling around; so it was an odd relief that the serving of mango sticky rice was relatively small. The mango was very tasty, and sticky rice is an acquired taste but I have come around to it myself.
In such a hard time for the economy, it was a relief to find somewhere that is good value along with being relatively cheap. It all matters only when the food is good, and here the food is good. There is plenty of reason it is popular amongst the students and as one (albeit more mature aged) I fully understand why.
I love this little thai place! Good value for money and their lunch special with every meal 10$ (except duck and seafood) is definitely worth it! Their curries are sooo delicious!!! Staff is super friendly!

I'm extremely picky with Thai food but the staff here are incredibly accommodating and it's become a weekly stop off for me! They're happy to swap and add ingredients to customise your meal to what you want and the student special of $11.95 is a definite must! Spring rolls or curry puffs with your choice of main? Who could refuse!
Always Pleased. We have gone to this thai place constantly - they are very accommodating. Very good for everyone- as well as vegetarians & vegans, people who need more than one piffley glass of water per meal, and those who like to cleanse their palate with complementary fruit! The service is always good. One suggestion would be a delivery service, then they'd have our business nearly every night of the week!

Student special!. Hawken Village, known as simply "The Ville" by the locals and students, is a personal favourite for high quality, cheap eats. Thai Nakonlanna is no exception!
Located next to the bright looking vegetarian eatery, My Heart Garden, (I add this because there are three Thai places in the Ville!), Thai Nakonlanna's decor is a bit understated, but the food is still divine.
My friends and I opted for the "student lunch special" which comprised of 2 pieces of entree (either curry puff or spring roll) followed by any main meal (excluding seafood or duck) with rice all for $11.95!
At that price, you can't go wrong! We ended up ordering as mains the chicken pad thai noodles (kindly made with peanuts on the side due to my peanut allergy!), green curry chicken and chilli, basil beef.
All dishes were delicious. I particularly liked the pad thai and the texture of the noodles were one of the best I have tasted recently. The green curry had just that right amount of punch int he spiciness department and the stir-fry beef had lots of fresh veggies. The amount of meat within all three dishes was surprisingly decent.
All in all, us three students were very pleased with the meal and I, at least, will certainly be coming back!

Tasty Thai food and split billing makes this place a great choice for groups, and that was how our family found ourselves joining a bunch of church friends for a Sunday lunch in January.
They had an off menu special of chicken rice which I thought was a little steep at $19.50, but regretted passing on that when I saw other orders come out - it was a sizeable portion that some struggled to finish / had enough leftovers for another meal. Next time.
Went with some basic selections of spring rolls, fried rice, and wifey's standing Thai eatery order of pad Thai. I didn't read the menu carefully enough so didn't realise that the fried rice could be enhanced with optional flavouring (choice of tomyam, samble, pineapple & curry powder, green curry, basil and shrimp paste). Having it "plain" is still good, but I'll make sure to try one of the flavour options in future - a pair of more seasoned customers beside us went with the shrimp paste option which wifey confirmed was different to ours.
Wouldn't particularly get the spring rolls again, which I felt was the weakest link in the meal. But they mostly served to help encourage the boy to eat the rest of his meal so there was a strategy behind their inclusion.
Our order:
* no.2 vegetarian spring roll (menu said 4pc but we received 6), $7.50
* no.25 fried rice with beef, $14 - cooked with shallot and onion, top with cucumber and lime
* no.28 pad thai noodle with chicken, $14 - thin rice noodle fried with dried shrimp, tofu, bean sprouts, garlic chive, ground peanuts with a secret tamarind sauce
We were also quite impressed that the waiter (owner?) took our whole group's order without writing anything down - don't see that sort of memory much!
Always ask for special of the day and that’s when you get the best surprise. Chicken was specially cooked for the dinner and pak siew mew was cooked just right . If you ever ordering Tom yum in this cold winter, don’t forget to ask the boss to add coconut cream- brings out the Flavor
The chilli that comes with the chicken is just out of this world….( in the picture ). Ask for it if you love fresh made chiili sauce
My new favourite restaurant. Excellent dishes! Cumin lamb (a special) is utterly superb, succulent and tasty. It's cooked four times, the chef came to our table and explained. Tom yum goong was also delicious. Will come here as often as I possibly can!

I am making an ammendment to my previous review. This place has always been my favourite restaurant at Brisbane. But one day the food was not as good as i expected. I made a complaint and the owner offered me a voucher. The nexr day I ordered here again and the food was really awesome. I got the taste back in all the curries. I am really glad that they value customer's opinion highly. Very happy that my dearest restaurant has not changed. Thank you.
Amazing food and incredible friendly staff. PS Hainan chicken is shockingly delicious.
