This used to be one of the few places in Brisbane that served South Indian food (that's changing now).
Pretty decent food, the dosas, vadais, and idlis are all pretty good, and the sambar is okay.
Their other rice and curry dishes are about as good as most other places.
Consistent high quality every time I attend. Prices are affordable and staff are friendly. In my opinion, it is the best dosa in Brisbane! I would also recommend the kadhai paneer with chili naan :)
Parikshith Tadakamalla
+4.5
I have been here last night. Ordered Chicken Tandoori as Entree and Chicken Biryani as mains.
Chicken Tandoori
+ve - Authentic, Tender and Juicy
-ve - Should be grilled for more time
Chicken Biryani
+ve - Authentic Hyderabad Biryani. Perfectly marinated. Cooked to perfection.
-ve - we ordered 4 Biryanis. Rice distribution is not even.
Finally an Indian restaurant that makes their curries using whole real ingredients. My Rogan Josh had a cinnamon stick and star-anise in it along with sliced bits of ginger. Great generous use of spices keep those authentic flavours. Atmosphere was cosy and staff were inviting.
Sunday buffet the best. Normally I never go to Indian buffets just cause the foods never fresh but to my suprise Im glad I went here. So fresh the food was lovely everything was yummy & hot. The service was great.I love to see restaurants really making an effort to better there service. Was so happy I tipped the waiter. He was attentive & always kept the water coming out. Was worth $19.80 all you can eat. will definitely be my new fav place for sunday lunch.
Under new management , I have noticed , a lot of things changed esp. The polite service , freshly cooked food , authentic taste
Had tried the Monday and Tuesday menu pesarattu upma and rava dosa must try , I had terrible experiences at this restaurant with the old management , terrible food and service , but now I would give this restaurant a 4.5/5 , must try is the Mysore masala dosa , idlies can be made a bit more softer , they are a bit harder same foes with the vadais .
Keep up the good work , will come back again
Brian. Wow under new management,,,excellent food & customer service.. food taste great, i tried dosa, & loved it..taste just like dosa we get in india.. chicken biryani was awesome!! rates are very reasonable... highly recommended.. keep up the good work..
Good Food. I am surprised to see such negative reviews. The dishes we had were absolutely delicious! The chicken in mine was good quality, not the yuck bits you often find in curries. Naan was great. Service was friendly.
Excellent!!!. After reading some of the reviews we were skeptical to try this place, but we were pleasantly surprised.
Service was excellent. Staff were helpful , pleasant and friendly.
The food was of a high standard. The paneer was delicious as was the spicy Mysore dorsai. Starters were excellent( Vegetarian and tandoori starters)
Portions were huge and filling. Food was freshly prepared and perfectly spiced.
Highly recommended. This is definitely going to be a regular eatery for us.
Tasty and lots of flavour.
Always a Delight. I have been there only very recently. Maybe they've changed their ways, but the service was prompt and friendly. Ordered the Vegetarian Vindaloo and my husband ordered the Deccan fish. Excellent. Entrees were Idlis and the fried chicken. All good. You don't go there for the 'experience' but the food. If you want a fancy restaurant, go into the city or something. But if you want a good, authentic south Indian curry this is your place.
Good Sunday lunch buffet. Go to place for Sunday lunch if you are looking for Indian food; tasty dosas and the sambar was a stand out when I visited last

Excellent Sunday lunch buffet. Highly recommended. Tasty food and good service. Love the dosas brought out to the tables. book ahead!!
I was very pleased with service and food
Love the food and the service is excellent! Lots of vegetarian options too :)
Impressive!. This is real authentic Southern Indian food,. I know what I am talking about, after having spent 3 month in India on a shoestring.
Where else in Brisbane can you get not just Dosas, but also Vadais and Idlis?
We tried the Southern Spice Combo which has one of each of these. It turned out to be a huge and crisp Dosa (pancake) with a yummy potato filling, a plain Vadai (a fried donut like lentil thingy) and a plain Idli (a steamed rice/lentil pattie), exactly what you would get from a little local street stall in Southern India. The Vadai and the Idli are by nature rather bland on their own and only edible when served with the right condiments. And at Southern Spice they are perfect, a nice Sambar (basically a thinner type of Dal) and great coconut and onion chutneys. We also had a Vindaloo with goat which was excellent. Went back a few days later, this time we had Uthappam (basically a Dosa with filling in the batter) and a Fish curry, both were really good. I can't wait to go back. And I have never seen so many Indians in any Indian restaurant in Brisbane, at least 80% of the guest on both occasions. A clear sign of the authenticity of what these guys serve up for very reasonable prices. The service was friendly but yes, the place could do with a bit more atmosphere.
Very impressed. Have only been once, but will try them again as I was very impressed with their Rogan Josh. Their rice was a little undercooked but the curry was one of the best I've had in Brisbane. Can't wait to go back and try their Vadai!
Authentic!. This is my favourite place for Indian food. If you like your butter chickens and kormas, they do cater for you. But if you're looking for real indian regional food this is the place. You know the place is good when Indians eat there. My husband is from that background and he won't go anywhere else. The chefs are fantasic. Not too expensive and a great relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended!
Weeknight special. Went there on last wed, wasnt very busy. Food was so gud we ordered one for the road (takeaway). they have this yogurt drink called mango lasse, man its nice. Try their butter chicken, its right up there with some of the best in town. its within a few kms of my house so will certainly call in again.
Thought I'd take my mum there for M'day...and didnt book. Although they didnt have space initially, they managed to find a spot for us. The mango lassi was yummy, and so too was the chiken chettinad. of course we still had a butter chicken cuz its the thing to do at an indian joint.
Overall awesome food, ok decor, friendly staff. Need to open one northside closer to my place guys.
Like!!
A great place for authentic Indian food. The guys who run the show are friendly and knowledgable. My husband loves their vegetable vindaloo: the twisted soul in me enjoys watching the sweat drip from his nose. There are plenty of milder curries to choose for the milder palate. Everything I've tried has been delightful. This is one of our regulars with friends: a great way to experience a number of dishes.
My chicken tikka masala was very tasty and flavoursome, had a bit of a spicy bite to it although this curry tends to be one of the milder ones. The chicken pieces were quite large and required chopping up but were very succulent. My garlic naan was yum,
