I’ve only had the premade sushi here and it’s so fresh! I imagine the made on order sushi would be even better. The rice is always perfectly cooked with a good ratio of rice to filling. I like that the sushi isn’t drowned in mayo like many other places. It may seem expensive but would be equivalent to sushi train prices. E.g. one mixed box is $14, with enough sushi to equal 4 plates at sushi train ($3.50x4=$14). The quality is also better than sushi trains.
The sushi here is always really fresh and tasty but it's expensive. $13.60 for a Salmon and avo roll
The food here is gorgeous but the prices are high as I imagine the rents are. Higher prices seem to be ok with the hoyti toyti crowd but $27 for a small plate of fish and chips...come on now.
Tuna salad box - best cooked tuna sushi I’ve tasted in Brisbane. Prompt, friendly service. Wide range of drinks to choose from. Can dine in or takeaway. Lots of fresh seafood and boxes of sushi available to purchase- or you can order off of the menu.
Had two vegetarian hand rolls. Was expensive but quick and also came with the usual ginger, wasabi and soy sauce. There’s lots of gourmet groceries and a bakery in the adjacent store.
Always fresh, value for money. Going there almost weekly, no fuss, great seafood. The fish&chip, Udon noodle soup , sashimi and handroll sushi is great.
A nice spot for sushi, but nothing overly special. The rainbow sushi that I had was made popular choice, a mix of salmon and avocado. The salmon slices were nice and thick, which added to the texture.
Outstanding Japanese seafood made and served by Japanese people who know what they are doing.
It's really just a fancy fish shop, but the little restaurant part really delivers to quality, super fresh and delicious sushi, sashimi and a couple of other Japanese staples.
The best Japanese restaurant in Brisbane. Fresh Fish Co is located in the fortitude valley James street. Not very good dining atmosphere but food is reeeeeally tasty.
Very fresh sushi! Expensive but worth it! Recommend the aburi salmon. Lunch time hard to find a seat, but be patient.
Love the sushi & sashimi at this place. Fresh, well prepared albeit expensive given it isn't a proper dine in restaurant. However, the food is reliably good quality & delicious.
Simply amazing. I've probably been here 20+ times.
The 'Rainbow Box' is a raw fish bonanza. When fish is fresh, tuna, kingfish & salmon have very different tastes, they're unique & delicious every time I've been.
My absolute favourite is the Moreton Bay bug udon. Every mouthful is pure bliss. Worth every cent.
I don't care about the setting, seating or aesthetics when the food is this good.
Ordered the sushi platter for team lunch as usual, we love it cause is fresh and got a lot of variety to choose from, and they even got sea urchin and salmon roes!!! all clean up!!

I sometimes get takeaway from here for fresh sushi prepared obviously fresh daily. I have had issues that it may not be as fresh as usual, hence I do find quality does vary. Why I said "sometimes" is because I judge visually before I buy, I won't make my purchase if the fish doesn't look as fresh as I want it to be. In the end, still one of my favorite places for a quick healthy choice of lunch.
If you are looking for sushi which is nicely prepared with the most freshest seafood, I would highly recommend this nice lovely sushi place located inside James Street Market. Adjoining the Fresh Fish Co., sushi chefs can prepare your sushi upon your orders. It makes me full of confident on the freshness of my Hand-roll and love those tuna and salmon rolls. Price may be slightly higher but it is worth to have dining experience from those two passionate chefs.
If not for the price.... The sushi are really good and fresh.
In fact, they are so good I don't think the price tags are too much.
But still, their sushi is a luxury not many can afford with ease...
My favourite sushi in Brisbane! I'd be embarrassed to admit but I've been here 50+ times. It has always delivered - perfect!
Best sushi!!!. Like everybody says, it's expensive but I'd rather pay extra or eat less than having cheap sushi. (Do you know how awful the fish is treated in some places)
I also had Teriyaki fish one time and it was just perfect.
Tasty but Pricey. Like majority of other reviewers, food quality is fresh and tasty but sadly way overpriced.
Had a box of 6 sushi and takeaway box of edamame, $16.
If you're in the James St area and don't want to go any further afield for your sushi fix, then go for it.
Otherwise, get down to LR on Adelaide St and load up.
$ometime$. They are serving fish monger fresh seafood and are set in yuppie heartland so you know it's going to be on the pricey side. I really enjoyed the sushi/sashimi here but it's not a great location to sit and eat so it's best grabbing some to go. A good sometimes place.
Fresh but pricey. Ordered tempura Moreton bay bug udon and sashimi salad. Was delicious, beautiful presentation, but pricey. It has a nice vibe and the food is tasty, so I would return.
Fish Co Miso Soup....d' lish - freshest best seafood and sushi in town!!
Had teriyaki fish today and it was delicious!! Even the rice that came with tasted really good quality rice.
Not cheap but their food is nothing like the cheap places (to me) and customer service is always good. I'd rather pay for the quality food and good customer service than quantity.
Hand rolls are super fresh and delicious!
WHAT A FIND!! I stumbled upon this place while wandering through the James street markets and WOW was I surprised! Right away you are greeted with rows of fresh fish on ice and long cases of filleted fish and oysters. I arrived just as they were closing and ordered my two favorites, spicy hotate tamake and Uni nigiri. They made the tamake to order and it blew me away! It just melted in my mouth, so fresh!! The Uni was sweet with a strong nutty taste, very nice and the only place in Brisbane I've been able to find Uni! I wish I had gotten here earlier as there are so many things I would like to try! I will be back for certain! As for those winging about the price, it is far more reasonable than most places in Brisbane, if you want cheap subway sushi, head to a sushi train, otherwise this is great value for phenomenal QUALITY!
Excellent. Perfect choice to satisfy my sushi cravings!!
I love you. This sushi makes my mouth water and my heart race. It is my absolute weakness. Absolutely delicious and it is well priced.
Love it. Fresh Sushi Co is fresh, affordable and delicious. My favourite place to grab sushi.
Good sushi. Very fresh good sushi. Sushi rice is seasoned just right, Chirashi-sushi is nice. Pricey though!
Amazingly fresh, little expensive but well worth it!
Just like everyone else says; it's good but damn is it expensive!
Best in Brisbane. Super fresh and super good!
The Best Sushi in Brisbane!. I love sushi, so I've eaten sushi at many different places. There are a few places which serves delicious sushi, and I think, this place is the best of the best or the one!
I like the freshness of each cut of fish. I enjoy slightly different combinations on the plate each time I order the 'Moriawase' plate which the chef selects on the day.
I always find the size of rice, texture and firmness of how sushi is formed to be very pleasurable. It feels sophisticated and so perfect in the mouth. I enjoy how the fish melts on my tongue, the fresh flavours of the ocean, and combination of different sushi. I also find their miso soup taste very special which also has the depth in aroma.
I just love it!
Best in Brisbane?. One of, if not, the best places for sushi or sashimi in Brisbane. Wonderful, fresh fish, with great presentation. It is expensive but you get what you pay for.
Fresh fish and sushi. This place is a very clean, open and airy space. Sushi boxes are expensive but you do get what you pay for. I love their smoked salmon box and tempura prawn box. Their miso soup is the real deal, made every morning. Hot fish dishes are great as well, as they use the fish from fresh fish co next door. Booking is essential on Friday and Saturday nights.
Nice fresh sushi and the oysters are great too! A little on the dearer side but you are getting what you pay for.
Utterly delicious. This is some of the freshest and most tasty sushi and sashimi in Brisbane. I love their prawn box (even if they have reduced the amount of prawn you get now). Their soy sauce is delicious, the red dot is my favourite. I love to come here for lunch, have a teary with my meal thanks to always over-estimating just how much wasabi I can handle, and then go next door to grab a takeaway coffee from Campos.
Best sushi in brisbane. I always order the soft shell crab hand roll and the moreton bay bug salad rolls.
Great Sushi. Love the freshness of the sushi here though it is a bit on the pricier side. They also do some other soup / noodle dishes which I look forward to trying some time.

Best Sushi in Brisbane. The Fresh Sushi Co in the popular James Street precint can be relied upon to always serve great quality sushi. We love to pop in, sit at the counter and watch our orders being expertly made by the wonderful staff. We are convinced this is the freshest and best quality sushi in Brisbane.
Fresh quality fish food in a very casual environment. A variety of fish-inclinations are catered for, ranging from fish&chips to sashimi salad, in between likes of makis and teriyaki fish. Very limited vege options: tamago nigiri & kitsune udon. It really is a very fish-centric place so go fishy. and it is a small place so expect busy :)
By far the freshest sushi/sashimi in Brisbane. The tempura is as close as you'd get to that in japan.
Heaven to fresh food lovers. Great atmospher.
Certainly lives up to its name with top quality sashimi and the best sushi in the area. The freshest ingredients are prepared by skilled chefs. A lovely treat while shopping.
Fresh is best. Whenever I have the chance I like to eat my sushi at Fresh Sushi Co. All their food is fresh and made on premises and is probably the best Japanese food I've had - including Japan. Well done guys.
Very fresh sushi & handroll ... They scallop is super NICE! will definitely go back again!!
I was hesitant to try out Fresh Sushi Co. because I am quite critical about Japanese food, especially when it comes to raw fish, but I decided that the displays looked fresh and it looked popular enough to give it a go. I ordered the Half Sushi Moriawashi , at plate of five nigiri and an ikura battleship. The sashimi was fresh...The price isn't cheap for a fast food-like setting, as their chirashi is 33AUD for a bowl, but it looks like it would be super delicious!
do come to the Fresh Sushi Co. if you want straight forward sushi that focusses on super fresh seafood – which is what it’s all about. No fishy smells here! The sushi is more expensive than other c
Back at the Best Sushi Shop in Brisbane
Fresh Sushi Co is found at the back end of the markets on James Str, as part of the fish shop. This is, of course, one of its strengths. It comes well equipped with fresh fish and hence fresh sushi. There are no odd looking, lonely, rolls, turning aimless

"You get what you pay for". A fairly simple statement, but one that I adhere to strongly - especially where Ice Cream and Sushi are concerned. I recently grabbed a quick lunch at The Fresh Sushi Co - and it was fantastic. There is no doubt about that what
