The entry to Huong's is the least inviting aspect of this place. I was brought cold water and a menu within a minute of being seated. My meal of Pad Puk arrived eight minutes after I ordered it. The food was tasty and the quantity sufficient for a hungry person. The decor is something out of an older Jacki Chan movie but the service overcomes any shortcomings here. I will definitely return.
Meatballs And Beef Cheeks
+3.5
It was raining and I wasn't full from my chicken curry next door, so I ventured up the stairs to give Huong's Restaurant a try.
What impressed me most was the service. The staff were attentive - chilled water was on the table within seconds of my sitting down - and the food was prepared rapidly.
I ordered the Thai Curry Puffs ($9.50) and the Sweet & Sour Pork with Special Fried Rice lunch special ($9.50). The curry puffs arrived within five minutes and the sweet & sour pork wasn't far behind.
The curry puffs were light and flaky on the outside, but filled with a dense combination of chicken and curry paste that has been cooked down until it achieved the consistency of purée. The filling was too heavy for the delicate exterior and thus the Puff was structurally unsound. Still, it was tasty - and it was piping hot. Overall I would rate it a 3.5.
The Sweet & Sour Pork was tough/chewy, but with decent flavour (3). The special fried rice wasn't very special (2.5).
Based solely on the food I would rank Huong's a 3, but the service and value bump it up to a 3.5. I would certainly be willing to give them another go.
Went here for dinner with bunch of friends on a Sunday night and it was quiet so we easily got a table. The service was very efficient and friendly, very professional. The food was absolutely delicious and because we chose to share between everyone at the table,it ended up being a very good price.
It's an extensive and only slightly confusing menu, so there would be plenty of food to go back for.
My family and I love Huongs. So much so that we now have a good relationship with the owner. Consistently good food. My favorite is the San Choy bow. I like ve the banquet. Pad Thai is delicious and spicy calamari is absolutely delicious. Yum, yum, yum.
Amazing food! The sizzling Peking duck was out of this world! Very quick service and Henry the owner was extremely friendly and made sure we had a great night. Will defiantly be back!
Love this place - you'd miss it if you didn't know where it was, but tramp up the stair case and you'll find a wide variety of dishes (chinese, Vietnamese and Thai) and beautiful flavoured sauces. I love the satay sauce so much and their fresh Vietnamese salads. Always a pleasure to dine here.
Great Value Asian Food. Great value Asian food with authentic flavour & decor (lol).
One of the best Thai restaurant ever. Love the Basel duck have to order it every time I go. Great service!!!!
Deep fried duck is my favorite one in this restaurant, the service attitude is nice and there has a very lovey waitress with is short hair. She has the best smile.
The food was amazing! I had been to there with my friend yesterday night. All the Thai dish was delicious . Btw, the meat we order was very fresh and tasty.
The food is fantastic but one of the most expensive Thai restaurants in Brisbane. Not sure I would go back at these prices. Pad see ew was the best I've had.
We had our Xmas work party here and it was amazing. Simple and tasty. Highly recommended and I can't wait to come back. BYO so remember to bring wine.
Large servings!. Went last night and it was absolutely packed! Food was great! Thai basil duck, Beef fried rice, satay trout and chicken chow mein. All the dishes were great and large servings. Friendly service, Would recommend!
Always Great. I have been coming here with my family for many years now. It is simply fantastic. Always fresh and did I mention cheap. Love it. Thanks again. We will be back.
Did I mention the spicy seafood pho is the bomb? Great value.
I like pad see ew with seafood. That's very nice and worth it. My boyfriend really like pad Thai. Next time I will go and try more delicious food in Huong
I like pad see eew and rice noodle salad with lemon grass beef. great food brilliant atmosphere beautiful waitress. good hygiene
Really good pan-fired barramundi. Very good service and all pretty waitress. I come here once a week. So awesome restaurant!
Best Vietnamese soup in Brisbane! Love this place.
Love the decor... =]. Another walk up the stairs into the perfectly appointed 80's Chinese / Vietnamese / Indonesian / Malaysian (etc) restaurant getup... bring it!
Great food started with Vietnamese Spring Rolls as recommended by the waiter (superb and far better than the 'normal' Thai Spring Rolls), followed quickly by the Thai Duck Chilli Salad, Sizzling Pepper Beef & Vegetables soaked up with Coconut Rice. I was told the home made lemonade was sweet, tangy and tasty.
We emptied all of our left overs into the takeaway 'doggie bags' and rolled back down the stairs.
Highly recommended, excellent service, will be back soon.
Fantastic as always. Another fantastic experience at Huong's, makes the walk to the top of stairs worthwhile. Greeted almost immediately on arrival by traditionally dressed professional wait staff.
Meal was served very quickly and to the great standard I always receive here.
Five stars to the staff on service and five stars to chef on food.
Considerate service, great vegan options. Have been coming here for years and the food is always delicious. It had been a long time since my last visit so I was pleasantly surprised to see that the vegetarian section now has the vegan options marked as such - makes it easy for my vegan husband and to choose and order quickly.
Can't go past the home-made lemonade and cold rolls, both are a bit of a tradition for our family.
Atmosphere is often a bit quiet and it has your typical weird Asian restaurant aesthetic (better than most actually), but I'm quite happy to accept that as part of the package for Vietnamese dining. The delicious food makes it well worth it. Staff are always pretty polite and attentive. Never had any real issues with service. Last time we were there, the air-conditioning was blowing on us and the waitress noticed and offered to turn it down without being asked, which was nice.
The ambience/experience is no more than average but the food gets five stars from me, it's a good pick if you want a safe, yummy Asian meal.
Delish Steamboat. Want something a little different but not to expensive without going to a fast food chain. Huong's is the place to go for a steam boat. What can I say.....two of us shared a steam boat and walked out, or rather rolled out fully satisfied. It was fun to eat, the flavours were amazing. I really felt the need to drink the broth it was that delicious. Definitely worth the visit,
Food was great! large portion sizes, even when being served to the children. We went as a family of six, and the first impressions from the children were "this isn't going to be very nice, can we go somewhere else'
They were more than impressed with the meals though, and we all left very happy!
My favorite place to eat in Brisbane. The food is always delicious, comes quickly, and service is great. I could eat my weight in the coconut rice!
OMG!!!! I go here just for the crispy quail. OmgOmgOmg!!!!
Best Soup in Brisbane. Just came back from Vietnam after a year, and I was looking for something to feed my addiction to cheap noodle soups. Thankfully I didn't have to look outside of my own suburb! Huong's make the best Vietnamese noodle soups that I've ever tasted outside of Vietnam. I'm sure everything else they have on the menu is great, but i haven't been able to try it because I have to get the Pho every time!
Best kept secret. This restaurant is one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at. Owned and operated by the lovely Prany who is always smiling and will do anything to please. I have eaten here more then 50 times and never been disappointed. Food always fresh and tasty. I have been to Thailand many times and this place rates up there. Keep up the good work Prany!
Cheap and good lunch specials. One of the best cheap places for lunch during weekdays. The taste is usually quite good, though I have been disappointed with my favourite Fried Rice and Pad Kee Mo the last 2 times. But cant complain for $7!
Fantastic night. Came to Huong's for a work party. I didn't even know this place existed, as it's tucked away at the top of stairs off the main drag. Was surprised that a restaurant in West End could accommodate a table of 30 odd people without any dramas. We decided on the 3 nations banquet, and the san cho bow came out instantly. The waitresses brought over mountains of food, including sweet and sour pork, salt and pepper calamari and thai massaman. Looking forward to visiting again with my wife.
A must. I am a long-time and frequent customer, and always find the food of good quality and inexpensive, and the service is fine.
It's easy to see why this restaurant has become a West End institution. Great tasting, fresh food and it comes out fast. If you are hungry, this place is king. The servings are huge and I usually have to take some home with me. One of the best kept secrets about this place is the vegetarian menu. While I am a dedicated meat eater, my partner is a vego, and Huong's is the only place we consistently agree on dining at. I recommend the Roast Duck w/ Cashews or the Sugarcane Prawn rice paper dish.
First visit and we'll be back! Restaurant was very busy, but they quickly found us a table with an outlook over Vulture St. Relaxing decor. We had Pork Rice Paper rolls for entree which were delicious - full of fresh flavour. Followed by shared Beef and Rice Noodle Salad - that was also libel and fresh, as well as Duck with Cashews. Lots of veges and cashews, but duck was a little less generous and fat was not sufficiently rendered, but still a tasty meal. Quick and friendly staff.
Always good. I've lived in West End for ten years, and eat out all the time all over the place. Huong's is one place we go back to all the time. In our experience, the Thai curries are the best we've had anywhere.
It's also a great venue for a large group. I've been there several times with large groups (10+ people) and the food / service has been excellent every time. Never had a meal there with someone who didn't enjoy it.
No frills, but a great night out. The menu has a huge range of delicious food. Bring a few bottles of wine and you'll have a cheap, fun night. But make a booking, it gets busy!
Best spicy quail in brisbane yum! !
Huong's has been in West End for ages and serves my favourite Vietnamese food in Brisbane. I've probably eaten here more times than in any other Brisbane restaurant. It doesn't look much from the street, but once you walk up the narrow stairs to the first
Really enjoyed the food at Quan Thanh. We ordered the Crispy skin duck with fried rice, braised chicken pho and the vegetarian spring rolls. The Crispy skin duck was absolutely amazing, super tasty and so good to eat!
Absolutely incredible meals!! We tried the special beef pho, the combination broken rice with a pork chop, the chicken with satay peanut sauce, and the Mongolian chicken sizzling hot plate, and I can honestly say they were all incredible! The broth for the pho was so flavourful, one of the best we've ever had; the hot plate was out of this world, definitely one to try! The satay chicken had so much flavour packed into it; and the combination broken rice with the pork chop was just as amazing as everything else! We desperately wanted to try the desert but the meals were so filling! I 100% recommend this place, whether you are a fan of Vietnamese food or not, this restaurant will definitely be a hit for everyone!! I'm sorry I didn't get photos of everything, it was all gone so quickly!
Restaurant needs a refurbishment. The Vietnamese dishes, especially the Soup Noodles are good.
Great restaurant in Westend serving amazing fresh Vietnamese food. Service was a little slow but considering how busy they are I was still very happy with the food quality. Restaurant is very popular so bookings are recommended.
Thanks for the excellent meal. Takeaway ready exactly on time, all dishes were cooked beautifully and super delicious. Will be back!
A little gem in West End! BYO too! Their spring rolls, hokkien noodles and green beans were all delicious!
Very good service, clean, and tasty food..
The only thing I didn’t like is the indoor area, otherwise it’s a very good Vietnamese food..
We ordered the Salty Fish Chicken fried rice, Crispy Fried Chicken meal, Szechuan Style beef and the Eggplant and Pork mince hot pot last night and they were all soooo good! Everything tasted authentic and all the flavours and spice levels were perfect (nothing bland or overly spicy) plus the servings were HUGE. Nice and simple place to dine in despite us coming during a busy hour. Staff members were very accomodating and friendly too. Definitely going to be regular here!
