Review The Paddington Tavern - Brisbane

I attend the pub for all sorts of occasions It’s handy to Suncorp stadium being 300 metres walk down the hill! I get to the annual big red wine tasting night as well as the champagne tasting if I can snag an elusive ticket! The outside terrace provides a great space to relax

This is a large, airy and super comfy place with masses of tables in various different dining areas, inside and outside. We had taken the precaution of booking ahead for a Thursday night, but it wasn’t necessary, as there was plenty of space available. That’s not to say that it was empty though, far from it, there was a decent turnout, but being so big, there’s room for everyone who wants to dine here. The decor is colourful and bright with maritime and sporty themes. There are high tables and bar stools, wooden floors, a large bar counter and ample strong lighting. It all works well to create a cheerful and welcoming space that’s warm and homely. It’s the kind of place that, the moment you walk into, you feel at ease and relaxed, and we enjoyed dining here. Being a Thursday, the special of the day was the chicken parmigiana and a drink (beer or wine) for a reasonable $25. My wife and I dined, we availed ourselves of this offer and we weren’t disappointed. And in a nice touch, a pretty waitress with a mask came to our table and offered to take our order. That was handy, as it meant that we didn’t have to go up to the bar counter ourselves and wait around to place our order. It was all done extremely efficiently, and our waitress was friendly and polite. Drinks and meals came out quickly and in the correct order. Fast and efficient service is the hallmark of a professionally run establishment and full marks to the Paddo because they excelled at that. But one can tell that the guys who run this place know what they’re about, because it hums like a well oiled machine. All the staff are professional in their attitude, neatly attired, polite and hardworking. It’s a pleasure to dine in such a place. Our chicken “parmies” as they call them, were fresh and tasty dishes and we both enjoyed our meals. The chicken was tender and succulent, cooked in a crispy batter, and covered with lashings of cheese, topped with ham and served with a nice dollop of wholesome salad and crunchy chips. A delicious meal, and a decent serving size too. You’ll never leave here hungry. The only thing that I wasn't mad about was the camp-style tin plates, mine slightly chipped as well.I prefer regular porcelain crockery, tin plates don’t turn me on. Toilets are in the corner, there are adequate male and female cubicles, but the 1980s hand dryer in the gents could probably do with an upgrade! We found easy parking just behind the Paddo in nearby Campbell Street, where there didn’t appear to be any after-hours restrictions. Altogether, a fab night at the Paddo, with a relaxed, casual and laid back atmosphere, excellent food and fast, friendly service. Making a booking was easy via their website. We received immediate confirmation via email and a reminder the day before.

Excellent service We were a party of 7 adults and one baby when we walked into the Paddo today, 15 minutes before their lunch service opened. They found us a really lovely large table that had room to park the pram and walker. Nothing was too much trouble. Drinks served quickly, orders taken and then lunches delivered 10 minutes later, including preparing a special meal for the vegan in our party. Did I say, nothing was too much trouble? And to top it all off the food was delicious. Thank you to the lovely staff today at the Paddo.

Will give you ONE more chance, Paddo. 15$ lunch special super difficult to turn up! Now, listen, dunno if your chef was hungover or wut, but both the steak and chips hadn't been seasoned. You did kindly give us extra salt, but that simply doesn't cut the mustard compared to seasoning food in the kitchen! Season your meals and you'll get ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Relaxed Island style with holiday vibe. A true surprise for a city pub/bar. The 3 litre Mojito was incredible value.... so good I don't remember what we paid for it but it was sub $40!!!!! Staff were super friendly and very helpful with my questions about what's going on in Brisbane. This place must get busy in the evenings with drinks as pictured.... really looking forward to getting back there for a other lazy day.

Friendly service. Lovely venue. Good food. Has to be best lunchtime steak in Brisbane. How do they get a rump so tender? And fresh crunchy tasty veggies? Forget chips and salad. This is a rare pub that's happy to generously serve the veg without extra charge or attitude. An extra star or two for sure just for that

First time visiting, just had a few drinks & bar snacks. Absolutely delicious diane sauce & gravy with the chips. Garlic bread was delicious but a little bit expensive compared to other venues. Staff were lovely & super helpful, very accommodating balancing both the sound for the footy as well as the musician.

Had a fantastic meal with amazing service by Phoebe. She kindly put on kids channel on the local tv and handed out colouring in for the little ones. Thank you

Omg! The best Caesar salad I have ever tried!

I tried Caesar salad with chicken, prawn, bacon 🥓 or pure salad. But Caesar salad with peri peri calamari are my favourite!!!!

Caesar salad with peri peri calamari lol 😂 I learn two brand new English again...

A Caesar salad is not a Caesar salad without the dressing. The dressing is just right, rich ingredients and strong flavours! I really miss it!

By the way, the restaurant is really “huge” : basement club, outdoor sites and two seperate inside seating

First time coming here tonight and walking in was pleasantly surprised, really open and modern. Staff were great and greeted with a smile and welcome, sports bar was huge and with many beers on tap and great selection of spirits, food choice was alright, prices are a little more in the higher side but well worth it... will be returning indefinitely

Have attended events here for breakfast a few times. Breakfast average, I wouldn't go here for food unless it was because an event was being held.

Felt like a pub meal and a beer! Decided on the paddo because it is close to us, walked in and no one greeted us or directed to where we could sit. Got a couple of beers which the pricing was definitely fabulous for Paddington which was great for us. We're not aware of the specials for the night as they were no where to be seen. So ordered the salt and pepper calamari which was what you would expect for a pub meal. Satisfying.
Overall the experience was nice, the pricing of the bar was good, although would be great if the service was a little more uplifting and the girls could put on a smile. But will be back as I think on game nights the atmosphere would be vibing.

Paddo parma and vege nachos, with a Little Creatures IPA. Very good pub fare, nice atmosphere, helpful staff. Sit Down Comedy Club downstairs has same menu (mostly). Top night.

Meal taken in the restaurant section.
Just had gnocchi with scallops mushrooms and burnt butter sauce. Had a 1/4slice lemon on the side. The meal was excellent, and I'm not a great gnocchi fan. But scallops and mushroom won me over. The gnocchi was best ever had, soft and delicate. The lemon cut through the rich butter sauce and enhanced the other flavours. Very plesent surprise for a pub meal.
Wife enjoyed her chicken Parma.

Nothing fancy here; just good, solid pub grub. Today I ate a schnitty roughly the size of my head - it was just what I needed and all I thought it could be.

Food is good. The worst music I have ever heard in a pub though. Be.

The Paddo cops it a bit because ..... it's the Paddo. The first time I ate here, a pigeon walked in the door and died on the spot. The bargirl was horrified and didn't know what to do. I said for a joke that she was required to call the police - forgetting that sometimes I get taken seriously :)

They do good burgers, steak sangers, and parmy's. Prices are a little higher than you may like, but the service is good and friendly. Given the amount of choices in Paddington, they will never be in my top five (or ten) but good to know they're around when I want a quick lunch and a beer.

Very disappointing, Went to enjoy broncos v cowboys nrl final. They had a ticket system to buy drinks and basically after i had bought these tickets we were escorted to the front bar and all tickets were rendered null and avoid. Its a poor way of trying to make a business profitable by trying to fraud costumers. Gone home to watch final. Local resident never be back. So disappointed dumb staff not using common sense

Came here for the comedy show, the show was awesome had a great laugh on a Thursday night. food was standard pub food, we ordered nachos n buffalo wings...it shouldn't be called as buffalo wings...it really just deep fried chicken, and the sauce is BBQ sauce?!!! can someone tell me why?

I am always surprised at how good the food is there. burgers are one of the best in Paddington.

The Paddo are a pub. They do excellent pub food. I've eaten the chicken parmy there and it's always excellent value for money. The service and atmosphere have improved in the past year.
Rob
The only good thing about the Paddo is the beer, the service and food, appalling not a happy customer
Colin
Poor service, and it went down hill from there! There's better place to eat!
Caitlin
Great steaks and mash potato - but pricy. Mushroom sauce for the steaks is bland. Staff are often rude, but the food makes up for it.
