Review Curry Story - Brisbane

Steven Roberts
Quite disappointing indian take away. I ordered a lamb madras extra extra hot and it came with chicken and was mild. The curry was heavily watered down and quite tasteless. My wife ordered the butter chicken which was also quite watered down and also tastless. The nann was microwaved and rubberey. I have eaten a fair bit of indian and is probably my favourite take away and I can easily say this rates as one of the worst. If possible avoid. Reccomend either indian takeaways from kenmore instead. My favourite is Scherhazade Indian and is quality food every time.

The best Indian food in Brisbane. Friendly boss and staff, clean and lovely sitting environment. Will come back heaps of times again.

On ubereats this place is called Tikja Taj. I placed a dinner order through ubereats as I had no food in the house and could not go out and had not had lunch. The order was accepted and paid for and that was about 6.30pm. I watched on the app for delivery and the order got delayed repeatedly. Then without warning or explanation and after waiting until almost 8.00pm the order was just cancelled. I was left with no way to get dinner no explanation and no apology. This was appalling and unacceptable. Do not use this restaurant.

Lamb Biryani was the best! Mango Chicken was nice but Lam Kurma was pretty average. All in all I would give a 5 star for the nice experience of order over the phone, delivery, presentation and the quality of food.

We went in for the Tuesday 2 for 1 deal, and added samosas and naan to it for a total of $30. Overall the curry was filling and fine, we had the Rogan Josh (left) and khorma (right). Just a few cons: The service was absent and we had to keep asking to be waited; you could tell they didn't have enough staff. Our samosas were cold in the centre. We were surprised that the meal deal was dine-in only. The menu prices have increased compared to what is listed on the website. Please check my picture of the deal menu because it is limited for what is on offer. Wouldn't come back but you could try it once I suppose.

Service was quick and friendly, and the lamb samosas were delicious. However, our meals of lamb korma and chicken Tikka masala were so sweet they were almost inedible. The sweetness completely overwhelmed the delicate flavour of the spices, and we were left feeling extremely dissatisfied. Disappointing.

Our group of seven had a superb evening. Fresh, tasty, natural and plentiful describes the food. The staff are welcoming and helpful. The chef really knows his stuff. The prices are more than fair and the environment is quiet and relaxed. There's plenty of parking. Corkage charge is minimal, especially given the quality of the glassware provided. We look forward to returning.

Superb, authentic Indian cuisine. Chef will even cook off-menu items if you ask (e.g., Gobi 65). Best Indian on Brisbane westside!

I have been to Curry Story many times in the past, but have recently found that the food and service have greatly improved. The garlic naan is unbeatable and the restaurant offers a good selection of tasty vegetarian curries as well as a wide range of excellent curries for meat lovers. I recommend the Rogan Josh and the interesting mint flavoured Nilgiri curry. In the past, I have found that the lamb curries were rather chewy on occasion, but this is no longer the case. On my recent visits, both the lamb and chicken curries were extremely tasty and tender.
The staff are consistently pleasant and also accommodating to those who specify particular needs or variations in the heat or mildness of dishes. Another plus is the obliging attitude regarding BYOW. I would highly recommend this pleasant family restaurant.

Visited this restaurant for dinner. Lots of vegetarian and Vegan options.
Staff are super nice and polite. The restaurant is located in a relatively quiet place with so many Cockatoos near it. It’s a nice place for casual dining. I noticed it’s very popular for takeaway. So many people picked up their takeaway while we were waiting for our biryanis.
Food was very tasty. We will definitely go back there.

Excellent Catering by Curry Story for Our son Wedding Reception Party on 12/12/2014. The menu requested were: Naan, Rice, Chicken 65, Lamb Curry, Globe Jamun, Lentil Vada, Samosa, Ryta, Pappad, South Indian Sambar (Yellow Lintel), and Vegetable Kootu (Mixed vegetables and Peas and beans curry), tamaring and mint sauces... Delighted to get an uniform best rating from most of the guests as the best food they ever had in Brisbane...My family, being a hard critic of food, really enjoyed all items and all items were best. No single complaint about any item of food. Neat and clean and very courteous service. We would rate the catering as the best South Indian food in Brisbane! Enjoy Brisbanites!!

Can't tell the difference between chicken and lamb?. Ordered takeaway from the desk.
Was told there was a 15-20min wait despite having hardly anyone in the restaurant.
Requested a Lamb Mahkini and paid for it. When i got my order home, it was clearly chicken.
Won't be ordering again, not worth the hassle to drive back and wait another 15-20mins for it to be remade.
Naan was tasteless and not cooked well, tasted reheated
Girl at the desk meant well but was clearly falling short.

RIPPED OFF. BAD SERVICE - Went here with a voucher, ate the meal then proceeded to pay where we were told that there was a printing error on the voucher and it was only valid for take aways. Excuse me? The voucher does not state that and the voucher should be honoured no? The presumed owner told us that there was a sign on the window stating this and it was too bad! The person showed no flexibility at all and in doing so has now lost at least two local customers whom shall never return. All for the sake of $20. P.S - I will be advising everyone I know in the area about this experience. Given that I am a local and have lived here for 30 years that will equate to more than 2 customers I can assure you. Rule number one of any small business, look after the locals! Maybe you will take this onboard from now on.

Came here tonight with a voucher. Onion bahji ok but different to what we normally have, chicken tikka masala very yummy, beef vindaloo average and garlic naan yummy. Good Indian place but still looking for a local place that's better than our favourite place in Springfield :)

Dined here with a voucher and glad we used a voucher as this place is quite pricey. Currys had a nice flavor but the indus shared entree platter was tasteless. Everything tasted like deep fried batter unfortunately. No spice in the samosas or pakoras and the tamarind sauce to accompany was watered down and tasteless. Garlic naan wasn't made with fresh garlic but rather garlic from a jar. Don't think we'll return unfortunately.

Alright.. Menu offers many appetizing options. Food was delicious yet a little over priced and definitely too small portions to be filling.
Also had to wait quite long on food, but good customer service made up for it.
Was alright overall.

Great Indian food. I have been using this restaurant for 5 years now and have never been disappointed, whether eating in, or the more usual, getting a takeaway. They have a great range of dishes and are happy to do any dish mild to hot even if that's not what it says on the menu. Their naan breads are not small (maybe the other reviewer got one) but are a decent size. I also get a monthly text from them with a special offer of the month.

The currys here are fantastic especially if you are a Pom. View will even do Indian Hot if you have the nerve! 10/10

Alright. I bought take away here.
The taste was pretty decent, but the value just isn't there.
The dishes are a tad more expensive than other comparable indian restaurants in our area.

Again, the naan that I bought was nice, but very small.

They do, however, have a good CHEAP TUESDAY deal - 2-4-1 dine in only. They also text out member deals every-now and then.

I suppose, I wouldn't totally diss them - I find it nice to have a local restaurant in Chapel Hill despite being primarily residential!
