Review Rofl Wafl - Brisbane

I have been waiting so long to try this place as last time I tried it was closed. Boy was I disappointed. Was so excited when I saw lemon meringue waffles on the menu, advertised as having meringue crumb which I assumed was be small crumbled bits of meringue. Nope I'm assuming the meringue was the white dust over the plate that just looked like icing sugar. When I went back to the counter to ask where the meringue was the girls looked at me like I was dumb and said it doesn't come with meringues. They couldn't understand my frustration that it's advertised as being lemon meringue but doesn't have meringue, false advertising!! The lemon "curd" was hidden under a thick layer of cream and was basically none existent too. While it tasted okay it didn't live up to my hopes. As for my coffee I ordered a caramel latte, could not taste the caramel and it was not a latte it was half foam lattes are not that foamy.

This place has got some big issues! We were one of only a handful of other customers, decided to try the place for my birthday, and were left bitterly disappointed. The menu is obviously offering FAR more choices than the kitchen has the capacity to keep up with, and we waited over an hour!!!!! for breakfast on a quiet weekday mid morning. May god help this place on a busy day! You’d be waiting all day! By the time the food arrived (arrived at 10, were served at 11.15) we weren’t even really hungry, the food was cold (steak sandwich) and we had lost interest as well as having a sore back siting on uncomfortable chairs for so long waiting. Perhaps a more streamlined menu with a few simple items would be better suited to such a small kitchen. Also, the tv displayed a special (including a coffee) and when requesting to order that item, my husband was told “oh sorry that’s old and we don’t know how to input it to give you that price”. How disgusting. False advertising. Unfortunately that was only the start of the disappointment. I’ll never be back

The place is nice overall. We ordered strawberry waffle, pancake and coffee. The waffle is really great but the pancake is nice but dry. The coffee used Merlo beans and taste nice.

Visited Rofl Wafl for a Sunday breakfast with the family. My litmus test for breakfast at a cafe is tasting their version of eggs benedict. B+ for presentation - the meal comes out looking great. But the poached eggs were overcooked, bacon overly oily and the waffles were too sweet. The bacon I can forgive and some people like sweet waffles - however to overcook poached eggs goes to show the lack of skill in the kitchen. Kids enjoyed their plain pancakes - but it's pretty hard to stuff that up right? Cold drinks were served quickly, but the coffee my wife ordered at the same time as the meals only arrived as we were about to leave. Seemed to be a common issue with the tables around us also waiting quite a while for their meals to arrive (and it wasn't that busy) Fortunately they were accommodating enough to put the coffee in a takeaway cup. Overall a disappointing experience which is a shame. Won't be back - much better options with higher quality food/service at a similar price in the area.

Coming from the customer service industry myself I understand the pain points that the covid-19 staff impacts has affected small businesses around Australia. This does not excuse the poor experience for your customers. We waited an hour and a half for our coffee and food which was not communicated to us when we ordered - which ended up being cold, bland and distasteful. Although your lovely staff was extremely apologetic this does not reflect the owner as you can see in the reviews by other customers. Stop blaming the world we live in and adapt and take on feedback from your most valuable stakeholder - your customers. I will not be returning and nor should you - what a waste of our time and money.

If you love waffles don't go to Rolf Wafl the waffles are advertised as "gourmet" but it was dry and super sweet and tasted like a packet waffle from a super market I thought it would be freshly made. $15 for one waffle banana and whipped cream very generic caramel sauce it is supposed to come with icecream and I had to ask for it. Very disappointing 😞

Owner has no idea. Food and drink complete rubbish. Feel sorry for the young girls who have to work with him this whole place is rubbish. Every single negative review is spot on the money. he refuses to do anything to change it but is more than happy to take your money every time knowing he’s offering a below average dining experience refusing to change.

Ordered crepes there yesterday and took 40 mins for “cold” food to come out. No one else eating there except for my sister and I. Crepes were tasteless and the chicken tasted old. Had to ask for trimmings on my iced coffee as per the picture. Would appear that the two young girls that were working there had little or no experience. Won’t be back which is a shame. Waste of $50.

Loved the crepes and the freak shakes. Can see myself coming back again next weekend for sure. Pretty well priced for the quality you get too

I was disappointed that the food served was not prepared fresh and was very much a heat and serve food from a packet. It’s not that hard to make waffle and pancake batter to serve fresh

Fantastic breakfast! We had the crepes...which were cooked to perfection. Fresh and not store bought which is a nice change! The barista knew how to make a good coffee too!

We had a coupon deal for breakfast luckily otherwise I don't think it would have validated driving all that way. The big let down for us was the addition of icing sugar on the pancake stack when served with eggs, avocado, salmon & haloumi. Wasn't too bad with the bacon, although there was maple syrup on the table & it definitely ruined it for my partner taste. Coffee was Merlo & although we paid extra for double shots it lacked body & strength. It looks ok in the pics though. Good old Merlo flavor just saved a disaster

I had the chicken and avocado crepe, and it was soo good. A good portion size with plenty of avocado and hollandaise sauce on top! So yummy. Service is super quick and the staff were lovely. Its a nice convenient place to go too for a nice meal.

Disappointing to see the waffles come out of plastic packets, not sure you can claim to make gourmet waffles if you don't actually make the waffles. Coffee was really good though.

Rofl wafl never disappoints. Always on top of their game and extremely consistent. Sometimes the wait can be a bit long due to the small kitchen but always worth the wait
(P.s if you go there during their not-so-busy hours you don’t even have to wait)

I'm so glad I live in such close proximity to this place. The waffles are to die for and the breakfast menu is extensive and affordable. Such friendly service, a breath of fresh air compared to other cafes in the area. I'm slowly working my way through all the freak shakes, each one has failed to disappoint so far

Great little cafe hidden away in Carseldine.
This place prides itself on its waffles, pancakes and crepes.
I have been meaning to try this place for quite some time and finally managed to go. I was very pleased and enjoyed every bite.
The service was friendly and prompt.
The portions are significant and definitely value for money. The crepes were delicious and packed with fresh ingredients.
The waffles were deliciously crunchy and didn’t disappoint, one more per serving however would be even better!
All in all, a lovely family friendly cafe.

Went here today for lunch had the big brekky, So full, great size serving for the price. Opted to go with the waffle over the pancakes and it was a great choice. Scrambled eggs were light and fluffy which is a plus for me. Great Merlo coffee as well. Service was fast and friendly. Going to be a regular destination for me

My family went here on the weekend as it had been suggested by a friend that we should come and try it out. Great menu which offers breakfast, lunch and dessert! My kids loved their pancakes from the kids menu. You get to choose 2 different toppings for the price. They shared one of their freakshakes, the malteser one. It was the best thing the kids have seen. I had the chicken and bacon crepe which was to die for, loved what they have added to the mushrooms so tasty. Staff were very friendly and wasn't too expensive like other cafes in the area. Definitely be back!

We have tried Rofl Wafl a few times now, and enjoyed it every time. Pancakes are good, and waffles are a little too sugary for our taste (but delicious none the less). The real standout was the last visit where we tried the savoury crepe menu, and it was very delicious. I have rated 4 as the service can be slow once you've ordered, but the staff and food are good!

I decided to go to rofl wafl today after looking for a local brunch spot that I hadn't tried yet. It is a little difficult to find at first if you aren't familiar with Carseldine Central but I quickly discovered it was down a little side strip where a number of new restaurants appear to be opening. The service was efficient and the cafe has cold table water upon request which is always a bonus for me! I ordered the cookies & cream wafl and really enjoyed it. I thought the elements would be overwhelmingly sweet but I was surprised to find that this was not the case. The Cadbury drizzle was a nice addition as well as the vanilla bean ice cream. My friend who joined me throughly enjoyed their meal as well and overall it was a very pleasant experience!
