I was tempted by Diana’s review to give it a go. In fact, I noticed it’s location, which just opposite to the Musette cafe that I reviewed the other day. It was too many people outside the bakery so I decided to return for it later.
I attempted it on last Thursday morning and my strategy was correct because there was not many people in the queue.
Followed the queue for less than a minute and I could enter the premise. When I approached the counter, my gaze was caught by those beautiful presented cakes and treats in the display cabinet and finally I settled on the ham & cheese croissant with a flat white.
I took a seat at the dining area. Flat white with Vittoria brew came with a nice presentation. Visual appraisal tells me that it is a good one with strong strength. My gut feeling is always right and it did not let me down this time.
The croissant came to the table nearly the same time as the coffee. It looks great. The first piece that I cut through presented the layers of the croissant and filled with Champagn leg ham and melted cheese. Taste and texture deserved thumb up.
I am glad to see such a bakery serving high quality treats to locals👍👍👍
We just had a quick snack here for breakfast. I ordered a vegetarian focaccia, the bread was delicious, filling was a little chewy, but a good selection of vegetables. Partner ordered a lamb pasty, beautiful short pastry with big chunks of meat. Coffee despite being served in a takeaway cup was well presented & robust in flavour
Had a brunch with some girlfriends a couple weeks ago before the world was plunged into chaos. Having heard a bit about the very popular King Street Bakery, we ambled over for some breakfast. Truth be told, I hadn't been back for some time since the disappointing closure of Mercado last year and since then there haven't been too many new openings along King Street.
Due to the latest restrictions, we have been unable to dine in at our regular coffee shops and cafes. Sad times, but it is for the best we understand. Miss Y loves getting some pastries from King Street Bakery that looks like it is baked fresh daily. Recently, Miss Y has been quite obsessed with pies. Pie Town, King Street Baker, The Standard Market at Gasworks….pies pies pies! 😂
food and display was good and the vibe in restaurant was nice too. definitely recommend trying this breakfast menu! even tho it’s a bit pricy if ur a student like me xD
Always friendly and polite! Has been my favourite for a bit now, so happy with their new space!! 10/10 coffee 10/10 food, the sausage roll is my favourite but the croissants are also amazing, lemon tarts are to die for, honestly try everything. We went down the road to a different place to give them a try and we left so disappointed that had to go to you guys to be able to save our morning, it was so nice to walk in and get a smile and again, THE BEST FOOD! Thank you!
Best cheesecake I’ve ever had in my life.
The coffee is nice, not the best ever but still delightful.
But the cheesecake, I would give up my first born child for one. 👌🏼
Nice Bakery in a very busy part of Bowen Hills. Not much parking nearby and you have to pay unless you stay less than 15 Minutes. Lots of nice pastries and pre-packaged meals.. they have a dining in area as well with inside and outside seating. They did seem to have quite a few Gluten Free options and I saw at least one Vegan cake. Only seemed to be one person serving so it was a little wait to be served. Saying that there is not a lot of serving space.
Bakery 5 stars. Really great ham and cheese.
Coffee 2 star - unfortunately if you make it too hot, it’s an instant 1 star. This was hotter than lava. Please have your attendants learn the correct temperature, otherwise it burns your tongue, you can’t drink it with your meal, and it ruins the milk. This falls into the realm of “mall coffee” standards.
Edit: upgraded coffee to 2 stars because it was my fault for not ordering non-lava. Expanded description of awesome patisserie.
It used to be very popular and full of goods on a regular Saturday morning. Empty shop when we arrived (approx 10:45) and racks were empty - I guess they've resized given not many people visit nowadays and it's a bit sad because the baked goods are still fairly on point.
We got 3 hot drinks, 1 bacon/egg burger, 1 pain au chocolat and 1 lamb pastie. Total $50.
The pastie's filling tasted more like a kidney/liver filling but the bread was excellent. Everything else was great too.
I guess COVID has hit pretty hard on them and that's a shame.
Love this bakery ! Great variety of pastries! Good coffee and friendly staff !
A five star rating for this little hidden gem! Best bread ever. Also the lovely staff are so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended.
