We love going to ButterCream every weekend for the best takeaway scones, coffee and thickshakes. The owners and staff are always friendly and run a fantastic business.
Craved for a Vietnamese street food brekkie and remember this cafe was under the management of a group of Vietnamese so it serves Banh mi and rice paper roll so gave it a go.
I ordered a Merlo flat white and a pork rice paper rolls. Although the owner mixed up my order as pork roll, they changed and freshly prepared the rice paper roll for me. The rolls came in two pieces with extra-long length than usual. Proportion of vermicelli, herb, lettuce and pork are well balanced. Together with the home-made sauce, it won my deep appreciation👍

It's a really suburban cafe. Coffee was good, and the ham, pineapple and cheese jaffle is super yummy!
Won't drive all the way there to have breakfast. But if you are a local, it's a good spot
Featuring nice, hearty breakfasts with decent coffee, Butter Cream has quickly become a staple in this suburban bank of shops. It was a bit of a shame to see they've cut their lunch menu and have restricted their trading hours, but I suppose if the demand is not there, these sorts of refinements are to be expected. All in all, good for a homely brekky feed that won't hit the hip pocket too hard.
Our comfort place :) Relaxed 50's atmosphere where the staff are personable and take the time to get to know the locals. Coffee is consistently great & the music takes us down memory lane from time to time :)
I love it! It's local to Carindale and not in the shopping centre! The coffee is great. It's good for breakfast too. The service is fast and the staff are friendly.
The best coffee in Queensland! Coming from Cairns I have been to many Cafes throughout Queensland and Butter Cream is hands down the best (and my favourite).
The food is excellent, made fresh to order and it's very well priced for the value that you get (a lot of food!!)
The staff are also excellent, each one of them treating you as if you were a friend and not a customer. This makes for an even better experience and goes to show that this business is aware of what customers want and executes it flawlessly.
If you have some spare time or feel like some lunch and coffee, head down to Butter Cream because I can guarantee you will not be disappointed!
Once again the best cafe, coffee, food and staff in Queensland! All in a convenient location!
Thank you Butter Cream :)
Have been here twice now, once for breakfast and today for a takeaway coffee and croissant. Both times the cafe has been busy and yet the service staff friendly and accommodating. The Merlo blend served here is quite nice and smooth and the barista on both occasions experienced. Located in a small group of shops, It hasn't got the greatest ambiance but pleasant none the less.
Decided to try this cafe as we had an entertainment book voucher and lived near by. The online menu looked good and was surprisingly affordable. When we arrived at around 9am Saturday morning we were surprised how busy it was for a suburban cafe. It was counter service which was fine as we already knew what we wanted. We ordered two mug coffees (delicious merlo. Can't go wrong) with a breakfast bagel and a bacon and egg roll as well as a slice of fruit and nut bread and a cupcake to take away came to a total of $26! This was with the voucher (25% off) but without it we thought it was still very reasonable. The food was very hearty and comforting and the service was friendly and efficient. We loved that we got such good quality breakfast without breaking the bank and without having to go into the city or even the inner city. We will be back!
Just heard a staff member (I think his name might be Lachlan) come out of the kitchen to greet a customer very warmly, shake his hand and say, "Happy birthday". Very sweet service! Love the music as well.
Came here for breakfast. Delicious food and great coffee! Friendly service. Would definitely come back again. It's a shame they're not open all day on Sunday's!
Butter cream is excellent!. Excellent, fast and friendly service 10/10. The lady asked me if I'd like the bacon crispy? .. thats the way to my heart! The hollandaise sauce is so creamy and delicous! I would also come here just for the incredible cupcakes and a merlo coffee.
Yum!. Very friendly atmosphere, great coffee and yummy food for little prices!
Definitely coming back to get some of these amazingly looking cupcakes!
Fantastic food and Service. The food is home cooked - you can taste love in every mouthful. The service is fantastic and the staff are always friendly and even remember your orders from week to week! Prices are also way too cheap!
Only down side is that it is way too popular!
Great every time!. We frequent here often, always great service and fast. The food is always cooked right, generous portions and coffee is pretty good too considering its merlo. Eggs benedict perfection!!
Recommend. I visited this cafe on recommendation from a relative. I was told that it was a small cafe but had some character - and it is exactly that. I ordered a Healthy Breakfast and Latte. I was told at the register, that there would be a small wait as the cafe was rather busy at this time. My coffee came out and was great - Merlo, love the Merlo blend! My meal did take a bit longer but nothing to complain about. Best part It was delicious! I couldn't help but notice all of the cupcakes in the display cabinet when ordering - so I took one home for my husband. We just shared it for afternoon tea and it was delicious. I'm glad I did stop to try this cafe, I will be returning to try another meal soon.
Just amazing. Great little cafe with a distinct 1950s feel. It is really good value for money and you actually are getting what paid for. The coffee is excelent. I have been here quite a few times and it just gets better and better. The staff are wonderful and always happy to help with anything. Excelent work and I am definitely bringing my friends here. :)
Great Coffee. Recently moved into the area and stopped by this small café for a takeaway coffee over the weekend. Coffee was great and staff seem friendly as well. Certainly will be back for my morning coffee fix.
Butter Cream - Mount Gravatt, Brisbane. Mostly a cupcake shop, but there is a lot more to here when coming for a visit. Do not be deterred by the fact it is in a shopping junction, though there is a calling for someplace else to possess a place such as this. The first part of the aesthetic interior is similar to a 1950s style American diner, having an old-style newsletter about events & birthdays on the particular day of business. Another part is apropos for their image, there is a lot of bright colours that very much suit the name and, on an underlying level, the appearance of a sweets shop. The service even fits really well with a gregarious air and the charms that come from the best of the diners.
It is nothing they can really help with, given the location. The only thing really missing from this place is ambiance; I cannot say that they don't utilise the space well.
They have a wholesome array of items for lunch and breakfast. For a pocket-money equivalent price, the meals are substantial and good quality. For $15, I ordered an eggs Benedict and got the extras of bacon and avocado. This was served on top of thickly sliced Turkish bread. I almost had difficulty finishing it because of the size; there must have been half a dozen slices of bacon and half and avocado on the side alone. To make it perfect, the yolks of the eggs were runny which the thick bread mopped up.
Additionally, I ordered a double-shot cappuccino for my drink and it was a really well-made cup - strong, not over-bearing with bitterness and enjoyable. Their blend is from Merlo coffee.
A visit to here, and a discussion, cannot be done without sampling - much less referencing - their much beloved range of cupcakes. They are frequently having orders, and around the Christmas period there was a time for ordering them for Christmas occasions. It is hard not to salivate while observing the range that they have in store. As an extra, my dining buddy ordered one to eat. It took a bit of weighing up while waiting for the main meals but an old proverb goes "life's too short...." and we split it beforehand. He got a chocolate sundae cupcake. For the Christmas theme they had made a mini-snowman for Christmas theme. It was really cute, with the scarf being made of a raspberry liquorice strip and a Twix being his arms. Aesthetics are one thing, but also the quality was brilliant. These might be the best cupcakes that I have tried; with reference to their namesake there is a sweet, creamy mixture made for the icing and the cake part is very moist.
Out of kindness, my dining buddy and I went halves on getting the half-dozen cupcakes deal: $18 for the aforementioned array. A few days later, cutting each cake in half to share with housemates and house guests I got to try a peanut butter-chocolate cupcake, a bit of the caramel one, chocolate mint and a winter wonderland vanilla. Each one of these were brilliantly designed in beauty, and to elaborate would be much of the same description. It was no fluke; these cupcakes are an absolute must to try. In fact, this place is worth the trip and the time. Everything about it has a dynamic where all the aspects are in the right place.
Always enjoy my Sunday breakfast here. No matter what I order it's always amazing food and the hospitality of the the staff is so welcoming. Definitely recommend giving it a try and I'm sure you will return.
Wonderful service - great food and awesome value for money!
My best friends and I attended a lunch to celebrate finishing uni for the year and my other friend graduating from uni.
The staff had beautiful service and manners and the food was the best I have had in a while. I ordered the healthy breakfast with a side of haloumi and a iced chocolate. Everything tasted fresh and flavor some and we were all very happy with our experience.
We also had a little 2 year old boy who was crying and climbing all over the furniture and the staff were so lovely about it.
Would recommend eating here.
My only complaint is they use shop bought hollandaise sauce. Disappointing as homemade hollandaise is so much better and they could really make a signature breakfast with a good hollandaise... Never mind, it won't stop me from coming back
Amazing!. This is some of the best coffee I've had in quite some time - made all the better by the amazing staff. So friendly, helpful and always remember my name & order....Love it!!
Good coffee, very pleasant service and good wholesome food. Good value too :)
So good!!! The only complaint is they close too early! Somewhere this good should be open til at least 4!
Fantastic! Lovely people, beautiful service. People who actually go out of their way to make sure you're happy. Breakfast was huge! Well made, good value for money and the coffee! Oh the coffee! Amazing. Merlo would be proud. Definitely a satisfied customer that will be back for more!
Cupcakes and customer service. Visited this unique Cafe at the week-end for the second time to make sure my first impressions were not a one off! Sublime attention to detail and customer service best experience in a long time! So congrats to Allie and team Butter Cream. Could not make up my mind about cupcakes all so well presented so bought six! Not disappointed either all were delicious! Yum yum ! Overall a great breakfast experience, thank you.
Delicious Catering. I organised catering for a work function through Butter Cream. We had over thirty attendees. When the delicious smell of the quiches heating in the oven wafted into the room where we were holding the event, I thought everyone was going to cut and run straight for the kitchen. In addition to the mini vegetarian quiches, we had a selection of sandwiches and a variety of cup cakes. The supper was definitely a success with attendees going back for seconds and asking me where we got the catering from. Allie, the owner of Butter Cream, was a delight to deal with. They even delivered to my work location. I'm personally partial to the Mars Inspired Cup Cake and can vouch for the fact that these cup cakes aren't just pretty, they taste fantastic.
I think Butter Cream Cafe is an awesome place for locals. The food is tasty and served in huge portions. The cupcakes are adorable and tasty. The service is fast and friendly. What more could you want?
A breakfast wrap or breakie burger is the best after a night out.. if you need to be at the shops then a coffee and cheeky breakfast wrap is the way to go.
Love this cafe good food coffee n service 🚶♀️☕👍🌱
Nice cafe and well laid out. Menu looks good. Ordered a coffee but it didn't come how I ordered it unfortunately. Staff were really friendly
Staff are great. This is a regular weekend coffee stop, and I have never had a bad coffee (Merlo beans).
When I have had food it has always been served in a timely manner, was tasty and good value.
I stopped in this morning for breakfast and coffee. I had the bacon and eggs and they were divine. Eggs were so tasty and bacon not too crisp but cooked well - came out piping hot. Coffee was awesome. I am not usually a merlo fan but when it’s made well it’s quite a tasty coffee - made exactly to the strength I like it too. This cafe is well priced too. Coffee and brekky only setting me back a mere $17 which is a good price for Carindale. Will be back
