Review Jacob's Ladder Cafe - Brisbane

JoJo Lyn
Had always noticed this cafe but never went in. Kinda happy that I did. Looks like a family run cafe, super clean. Beware it isn’t a big place so we were lucky to get a table. Enjoyed the Korean beef sandwich and the pesto pasta. The vegetables sandwich could have more than one piece of bread or at least have an option to add more as it won’t fill you up. Love how the cappuccino had actual chocolate rather then powder and all the coffees came on a cute serving plate with a glass of water.

Small family owned Cafe in our local area. Good coffee and comes with real chocolate. All day breakfast, average selection of food, meals are healthy and fulfilling. Relaxing atmosphere.

One of the best Coffee you can get here at Jacob's Ladder. Great ambience and ladies work there has nice aesthetic sense and hard working. Although the reason I gave 4 stars is purely due to their customer service. I think ladies working there doesn't know how to smile and greet to customers like other people mentioned in their reviews. Sometime they make you feel like why you are here. I am a regular there and never seen a smile on anyone's face while ordering food or coffee. Work is not always everything and its good to enjoy what you doing whilst working rather than working like a robots. You go there next time and see their faces and comment If I am correct :-)

A very well managed and staffed cafe. The girls were very friendly and the food and coffee was top quality. Loved the presentation of the coffees and the sparkling water was a great addition. It certainly prepared your mouth for the coffee. I had the chicken and avocado sandwich. Some coffee shops are too loud for me, with the concrete floors and noisy coffee machines, but this is quiet. Would recommended will return.

Beautifully presented flat white served on a board with a glass of water, serviette & spoon. Coffee had flavours which were rich, smooth& robust with great mouthfeel. There were tables inside & out, outside being pet friendly. Service was prompt & efficient

The asmosphere is good and everything is well presented, no matter the food or drink. The menul also come with colourful photos. But the tastes of food still have room to improve. The croissant could be more attractive by adding the layer of ingredients, sauces or toppings.

Great food options, great value. Got smoky morning - smoked salmon omelette and cappuccino. Great presentation and fast. Service was good. Coffee had a bit of real chocolate shavings in top. Nice touch with glass of water and coffee cup on serving platter. Sorry no pictures but others shown here were the same as mine. Cannot complain about anything. Will be back.

Always serve a good coffee here, rich smooth flat white or long black with sparkling ice water, kito burger is my favorite!

This popular Korean Cafeteria on the Southside serves delicious coffees and creative food. We visit for Brunch and are greeted on arrival by the friendly counter staff. Nice!

Our lunches are served after a short wait. Phuong Tran’s Bulgogi Burger looks appetising and she enjoys it. My Salmon Croissant is freshly prepared and scrumptious. Well done guys!

Remember it was a regular re-visit couple months ago. Everything kept consistent except the wait-staff who served me lacked a bit of passion.
Coffee was still good and so as the plain croissant. However, when I asked for the jam & butter for the croissant, I was told that I needed to mention beforehand otherwise there would be an overcharged.
Honestly, I did ordered and definitely it was a mid-understanding. In fact, I never challenge what it charged me on the orders so it made me slightly upset. Having said that the food and beverage still deserve a good mark.
Rating: 4.5/5
Previous rating: Mar 2019 5/5; July 2018 5/5; Nov 2017 5/5

Very sophisticated coffee (flat white), tastes different from any other regular coffee shop. Food showed great culinary skills. I requested for jam to go with my savoury dishes, they gave it in a small dish ☺️ nice ambience, relaxing music, good service.

Good food, pricy but all brunch is. Handled an off-the-beat request well. Bear in mind — the brekkie burger is described as being accompanied with chips — these are potato chips (like Smiths) rather than fries, these could be described better in the menu. Overall, food is excellent.

My usual local suburban cafe when I want a really decent coffee. Beans are from Supreme Coffee. My usual order is the flat white but I just love their ice long black and I’m also addicted to their scones. It’s just divine. Super friendly staff and did I mention they’re dog friendly as well. Perfect place for me and my little fur child to chill out and relax with great coffee.

My all time favourite cafe to visit! They serve the best matcha latte and almond croissant. It’s my first time trying the smokey breakfast and boy am I impressed! The egg is so soft and fluffy and goes so well with the salty smoked salmon. Super friendly service and I love the quiet and relaxing vibe. Great cafe to just come and chill or do some work/studying.

I have never once had a badly made coffee here! And I'm super picky with my coffee! Always perfectly smooth milk and a lovely pulled shot! Service with a smile and great for a simple breakfast!

Having gone around inner city suburbs for brunch, I found myself wanting to go somewhere closer to home on my day off last week, and doing some research found out about Jacobs Ladder at Runcorn, which happened to be a quick 15 minutes drive from home. Getting there at 10am on a Thursday morning, I was surprised at the fact that it was more than half full. Being situated in a shopping strip along Compton road, parking was relatively easy, which already impressed me as being more convenient than having to struggle every Saturday at New Farm or at Bulimba.

Clearly owned by people who love what they do and are proud of their craft. The coffee was excellent and the pastry was fresh. Wonderful music, service and ambience.

A nice popular cafe majoring on coffee and offer a few other items to go with it like pastries. Friendly and helpful service. Nice new interior.

Had the Matcha latte which was pretty good (I have a lot of these). It was presented nicely with a glass of water which was perfect. The almond croissant wasn't bad, very dense.

Having come to study you only have a option to be at a four person table next to the power points. Unfortunately with 2 others with the same idea, we basically took up 12 seats. Unless you wanna have your laptop on your lap.

Recommended if you're in the area

Staff is awesome, and the coffee is consistent. The baristas really care about what they are doing and you can tell through the coffee they serve. Jacobs Ladder is my go-to coffee 😊

I really admire the idea that this cafe provides the used coffee for compost and you can grab a bag for free. The coffee tasted a bit different because they seem to use different beans but it tasted nice. Atmosphere was good too. Glad to find this local gem.

Great experience for me here thanks to reading Ron's review! I too was presented with my perfectly poured flat white on a board with water with a beautiful swan ? or maybe a seahorse let you be the judge, swimming in the crema. The coffee had wonderful notes & mouthfeel, which lingered with me for the rest of the afternoon. Tasted like a single origin brew actually? The service was really polite & friendly too & the shop had a cool vibe about it.

Came here this morning with my little one for a breakfast date. We got ourselves a soy latte, soy babyccino and a scone which arrived at our table about 5mins after we were seated.

My little one was impressed with the scone and I had a small taste as she wasn't quite happy to share it with me... the scone was warm, moist and crumbly. Her babyccino was also pretty tasty with a generous sprinkling of milk chocolate on top.

I enjoyed my soy latte which I thought was nicely made - soy milk was warmed to a nice temperature and not burnt. And the glass of water served with the coffee was a nice touch. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience.

A new establishment has recently hit the Sunnybank area and thank god for that, cause this area is in need of more cafes 🙏🏻

Jacob's Ladder Cafe began operating around 2 months ago and is run by a Korean owner. The cafe is spacious and nicely set up, giving a comfortable and cozy feel. As I entered the coffee shop, I was promptly greeted by the friendly barista and another staff. I was gestured to take a seat and was presented with the menu.

The menu introduces a good selection of simple foods and coffees. There is also a variety of sweets showcased in their display cabinet. After perusing the menu for a couple of minutes I went ahead and ordered a large Flat White and the Chicken & Avocado Sandwich.

Coffee no.1 - Neatly presented on a wooden board, with the coffee in the middle, a glass of water on the side and a spoon for stirring. The coffee was served warmish to hot. Consisting nutty tones, sweetness, and mild citrus flavors. A pleasant taste was left on the palate.

Food - A generous portion was served. The Turkish bread looked soft and fluffy, unfortunately, when I took my first bite it was a little dry. Other ingredients included were shredded chicken, greens, onions, tomato, and avocado, which came together very well and with the help of the feta aioli, it made it even more enjoyable. The minor downside would've been the avocado. I personally would have preferred fresh avocado rather than avocado paste.

As I was munching down the sandwich I realized they sold bottled coffee as well. Ofcourse one cuppa is never enough, I decided to give their Iced Mocha a try.

Coffee no.2 - The Iced Mocha consisted 2 shots of espresso, full cream milk, and milk chocolate. I gave it a quick shake and took my first sip. The taste was very creamy which was really good but I felt the milk chocolate masked the coffee flavor (perhaps an extra shot would have helped). Despite that, it was still an enjoyable beverage!

Overall, a lovely experience. Staff are friendly and attentive.

Good Stuff: Jacob's Ladder Cafe serves their own blend of coffee (Five Star Day Blend). Single Origin blend is also available. Opens until late on most days which means there is an extra place to catch up with friends and family. Car parking inside complex!

This is such a cute little cafe in an area that was in dire need of good coffee. The coffee is smooth and the almond croissants are delightful. We definitely will be coming back here when in the area.

Noticed this new cafe after dinner one night with friends and decided to give it a go. Friend had the hot chocolate while we had the relaxing herbs tea. Slightly disappointed that they ran out of kefir as wanted to try this. Decor was cosy warm and welcoming. Would definitely come back to try other things again. Unfortunately closed at 9pm so we didn't stay there long but note it opens from 7am.
