I meant to check out a new listing at Bowen Hills this morning. Unfortunately, info from Zomato is not correct and it has not opened for trade today so drove to another new listing nearby. Again, info is incorrect and I have to go to nearest Cafe 63 @ Homemaker Centre because I know Cafe 63 will never let me down. Drove directly to the undercover car park and went upstairs. The huge venue of Cafe 63 does not surprise me because many of its siblings are set up like that. Needless to say, a friendly waitress brought a bottle of water immediately after I sat down. Placed orders of flat white and half serving of Super Brat with additional side smoked salmon. Coffee is as good as the other siblings. Nice presentation with good strength. Generous portion of spinaches in the egg white omelette nearly turns the whole dish green in color and covers up the mushrooms underneath. Smoked salmon is fresh and upgrades the whole dish to the next level. Being one of the fans of Cafe 63, I have no regret to miss the first two spots, haha!
This place is usually a solid bet for us - sure it's a chain, but they serve a huge variety of food to suit every palate, the prices are reasonable, service is decent, AND their kitchen is almost always open. :) Most "all day breakfast" places are not truly "all day" - this one literally is (as in, you could have pancakes or eggs benedict at 4.30pm if you wanted to!).
The food isn't particularly exceptional, but most of the items I've tried were reasonably good and made for an enjoyable meal. Bonus points for the wide variety of jams available gratis.
I do wish they had iced teas available, though, especially with the summer coming up. The only one I saw on their menu was a matcha frappe, and it tasted somewhat strange to me - like they added chai or some herbs to it as opposed to pure matcha and milk.
These places are popping up now all over Brisbane. It is not hard to see why though. They have the free bottled water of course (not my thing though due to the recycling issues) however I do love the fact they serve free fresh hot chillies & toast of choice. This morning we ordered a simple breakfast just scrambled eggs for the other half & avocado for myself with a rosti & chillies (lots of them too!!) The coffee I may also add is pretty good comes out pretty strong with the single shot & well presented too
pros:
- wide selection of food
- portion is good
- environment is super nice
- staff are friendly
just one thing...
Maybe it was the first time I tried soy latte in Brisbane, it just tasted totally different from all the soy latte I had in Sydney...the froth got a very strange taste and the coffee also tasted weird, not sure if it was due to different soy milk used.
Myself and various family members have eaten at this Cafe 63 on four or five occasions and all have been very impressed with the brilliant value and service.
Cannot get enough.
