Review Lucha Kitchen And Bar - Brisbane

This is a really nice restaurant with a fantastic range of bubble tea. The staff members were very friendly and polite. The food was delicious and came in large portions. Allow a bit more time if you come here for lunch as they get very busy but the food is totally worth waiting for.

We are craving dessert after our dinner. We found Lucha Kitchen, and one of our kids recommended having the Dessert Hot Pot. It is just a range of bubble teas with dry ice, but kids enjoy it. Next time we will be back here for their dinner.

A decent feed on a Friday night, not the cheapest though for the quantity. The pork belly baos were pretty tasty. Peking duck was not that authentic (Sliced up duck meat rather than a nice crispy skin pancake) but still tasty. Loved the second course duck noodles. The pan fried dumpling were nice but at $10 for 4 pcs, bit steep. The Lucha special fried rice was excellent with lovely tea flavours. Stonepot cauliflower can be given a miss.

Your crispy pork intestine is no crispy, all I can taste was very strong pork flavour in a very bad way. Perhaps you should marinate it a bit and increase the quantity a bit more. That calculate to be 3 dollar for a small piece, with a Thai chilli sauce dishes, this suppose to be your signature dish, but clearly demonstrate you are ripping off everyone with 12 piece of intestine for 35.95. Rest is taste alright. That intestine it destroy the whole meal

I’ve been to this restaurant many times since its opening. My fav dishes: chilli fish broth, green tea chicken

I had good experience in the past with this restaurant, food was great and customer service was good too. I brought my friends to here many times. HOWEVER, today’s visit I got a terrible service and food. I expect more to you, Lu Cha.

Lu Cha is a perfect restaurant to come to for a date night or to hang with the girls. The food is amazing and tastes great. I recommend trying what I tried, including their dessert hot pot. That was to die for (make sure to leave extra room in your tummy to enjoy it). They are currently offering a vday special dessert hotpot on 14/02! The staff were very knowledgeable and they also serve bubble tea for dine-in or take-away. Definitely book if you’re planning to visit for dinner. • bbq pork buns • wok fried squid with salt & pepper • wok fried prawns with salt & pepper • lucha basil fried rice

This place used to be great however the quantity and quality of the food has been very poor lately, despite being so expensive. The inconsistency in serving size and actual preparation is astoundingly disappointing to the point that it is almost a joke.

Incredible food and fantastic service!!! A great go-to restaurant in the city! I’ve been back a few times bringing back different groups of friends every time!

Very nice restaurant but lacks atmosphere - not a lot of space between tables and for walking. The service was fast and the food was very nice. I ordered the pineapple fried shrimp - I wasn't sure what I expected but I was pleasantly surprised flavour-wise, not so much serving size-wise. My friend was very happy with his squid legs and we both loved our cocktails

We visited Lu cha on a busy Saturday night & the service was very slow. Food was average but portions were very generous. My order was stir fried vegetables, which offered a good selection with lots of cauliflower which happens to be my favourite veg luckily. Other dishes ordered were sweet and sour pork & a hot sour soup

The Lucha is the excellent place to go with friends and kungbo prawns with lychee and sweet sour pork was amazing!! And the waitress was so nice in service, will come backkkk

The manager was extremely rude and yelled at the customers and employees. The service was disappointingly rude and tardy. The food was substandard and not properly heated. Frankly an extremely disappointing and disastrous experience.

I thought this place would be really good as I saw it was quite busy on a Friday night. We ordered the pork belly and bao dish, and the fried prawns with black tea. The prawn dish was terribly oily with no sauce or seasonings added to the batter. The prawns only tasted like oil, and frozen prawns were used. The pork belly was slightly better but most of it was dried out and not very pleasant. They are charging around $25-30 per dish and you’d think their quality would match that price point.. especially with so many amazing Taiwanese/Chinese restaurants in Brisbane. This place was a hard miss.
Aidan
We ordered their signature dishes, their fried prawn dish with black tea was incredibly oily and had no sauce or flavour. It just tasted like oil. It was probably the worst prawn dish I've had in Brisbane.

Located at the front of the new FudoDori lane, Lu Cha can be easily spotted along with Koto Sanpo. Came here on weekdays evening, the place was packed, yet the service was quite quick.

Ordered the Fruity Cream Strawberry Tea, the taste was okay; not overwhelmingly sweet, packed with a balanced amount of strawberry and cream. However, it is not greatly different from other teas.

Would be coming back in the future to try out the food.

Nice, very flavourful food. Service was efficient and friendly. Can get crowded pretty easily during the usual peak hours. Fried rice and beans were delicious.

Food was fine but they really need to train their staff right.
There was this waitress with thin eyes and in long black hair and black tshirt - WATCH OUT!! She had extremely strong attitudes making you feel like she was your boss.
Simple as when we questioned about not being able to book a table for 3 at 6.30pm due to “6-8 people policy” yet they reserved a table for 5 people when we arrived, she turned the dialogue into an argument and stormed off. Later when she returned to provide cutleries she was showing strong attitude again as she dropped off the stuff and left with a pissed face.
When we were at the register to pay, they said splitting bill was ok. The rude waitress took over the till and stared at me as if I was speaking Martian when I told her how to split our bill (simply divided by 3 without a drink - hard Maths??) - and I was explaining to her in Mandarin as I’m a native speaker.
Other staff were all good but this girl was indeed a buzzkill. Bad services can just ruin everything.

I took 2 of my clients there, we sat down around 11:45, before the rush hour. Only a couple of tables were filled in. We wanted something simple and quick because we needed to rush back to the office. So all three of us ordered fried rice.

Waited for a long time, the order never came. Funny thing, they kept on bringing other people’s order. Those people actually arrived after us.

We asked the waitress, she said the chef still making it. After 45 minutes, we couldn’t take it anymore. And then our order arrived.

We were kind enough to still pay for it and asked them to put it in a take away container instead. We ran back to the office feeling EXTREMELY HANGRY. 45 minutes for a simple fried rice????

We complained to the waiter but they did not seem to care.

I felt so embarassed and kept saying sorry to my clients.

I ordered the stir fried beef noodle and it was the worst one I’ve ever had. It was very oily and absolutely had no taste. I am the kind of person to always finish my food and I couldn’t even finish half of it. It wasn’t worth the money. I may give it another shot to order something else that might be better, but for now I don’t recommend the stir fried beef noodle.

Great selection of Chinese food, creative restaurant with Chinese tea leaf. If you haven't been there, must have a go!

The cold chicken noodle is very delicious, and the boiled beef is my favorite one !

I love the consistency in decor between this restaurant and the adjacent Koto Sanpo. Overall a nice, upscale (for a broke student) place to have a meal.

~The braised pork belly with buns~ ($24.95)
Basically a decomposed guabao. The buns were lovely and soft. I couldn’t really taste the tea but I liked the sweet soy sauce marinade. The skin was crispy and the inside was soft - hallmark of a perfectly cooked pork belly. Overall it was a delicious dish but I would’ve liked for there to be some vegetables instead of just bread and meat to make it a bit more balanced. Some pickled cabbage maybe.

~Stone bowl wok fried sliced pork potato with spicy sauce~ ($20.95)
Not really spicy, more of a classic soy sauce flavour. The pork was sliced so thinly I kept mistaking it for onion! It did have other vegetables aside from potato, which I appreciated. If you ordered two bowls of rice I reckon it would’ve been enough for two people - we were stuffed.

Came here for dinner and it was really busy! We ordered the roast chicken, pork and Chinese cabbage dumplings, as well as steamed rice. The chicken was really tender and moist, the skin was slightly chewy but could definitely be more crispy. The sweet sauce that accompanied the chicken had a wonderful jasmine green tea aroma to it, it was just divine. The dumplings were really delicious and flavourful too. I'll definitely come back to try out their other dishes!

Finally a spot that does great Chinese food at a fair price. This is the sort of place that Brisbane has been lacking. Warm atmosphere and good service even during peak lunch time rushes.
The egg noodles and roast pork pictured were terrific, will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu!
Ambrosia.ivana
We ordered the beef congee and combination bbq pork. Presentation was good but not the taste. The congee had good consistency and beef was tender but it was super bland - no taste at all. The roast pork skin was chewy - not fresh but the bbq pork was ok (the sauce saved it). Without the drinks, it would be hard to finish the food. Very unlikely to go back.

Attracted by those sweet pink balloons and noticed it’s happy hours (Monday-Friday, 3.30-4.30) buy one drink get a 2nd one half price. Tried a fruity cream peach and a signature pearl milk tea. Loved them both for not being made too sweet and smooth flavour. Service was slow and staff didn’t look welcoming/happy.

The old Elizabeth Arcade has been transformed to a 'FudoDori' meaning food street and LuCha is one of the first few to set foot in this lane. I have got no idea re this place until I suggested to Mr let walk past this area and see what is new. LuCha has an opening offer that time which include 'Buy 1 drink and get the second one free'. Intrigued, we both went inside for lunch that day. While it may be busy that day, I thought the service was still prompt and friendly.

Good food and good range of drinks, some unique sparkling bubble teas available! Food is yummy but they didn’t have any dumplings available when we tried to order them.

Such a shame the service at this place has started to slip. I was extremely impressed with the food and service on our very first visit but today - our third, I left disappointed. After we sat down we waited a while for someone to come around and take our order. Had to flag a waitress down because no one was attending to us. After ordering we waited for more than 40 mins for food to arrive while also wondering what had happened to the bubble tea I ordered. Surely doesn’t take that long for a drink to be made. The table next to us, a table of 5 already had their food out yet came in after us and another table of 3 who also came in after us had their drinks made. It was really inconsistent. Again we had to get the attention of the waitress to see what was happening with the food and drink we ordered. Waitress checked on the drink and had the look of guilt that it wasn’t put through and didn’t know what happened. Asked if I wanted to re-order, no thanks. I requested the drink to be cancelled. Upon paying, everything that I ordered including the drink was in their system. So how did the drink get missed, who knows. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the food here, it’s great especially their signature crispy chicken with the seasoning and honey sauce but wish their service could be vastly improved by checking on their customers and paying that little bit more attention.
Just Some Foodie Here.
Tried this place several times, the fruittea theres are nice but the wait is quite long. The people who worked there doesnt seem to understand english fluently and messup my order once. The price is a but pricey compare to other places.

Brisbane city is getting more authentic Asian cuisines opening up. This latest hotspot is in the new arcade, Fudodori. I’m ready to have some delicious dishes. Oolong Tropical Fruit Tea & Grapefruit Mint Sparkling Tea. The amount of fruit in my oolong tea was worth it alone 😂, but I really liked the light body taste.
Food Bub
The drinks are very nice and you can really taste the tea in the milk tea. I would say this is the only place where the tea flavour is very strong and it goes very well with every drink. Would recommend this place to any milk tea lovers out there.

Decided to give this new place a try with a friend on a Thursday night. Had passed through before during the day and saw that it was very popular and also read some great reviews so decided to give it a go. We arrived quite early - 5.45pm and there were only a few people which made me a little worried at first. But by the time we ordered and got our entree it was close to being packed. The food was absolutely gorgeous - the best tasting Chinese food I’ve had in a long time. And massive portions that are reasonably priced! Didn’t taste like any added msg either. The wait staff were pretty great - half didn’t seem to be able to speak English very well and were a bit abrupt/awkward but the other half were extremely polite and professional which is a lot better than most Asian restaurants these days. My friend and I ordered a shared entree then 2 mains and a fried rice and we were both extremely full and satisfied and both had leftovers to take home at the end of it! Only small complaint is that they charged us $1 for tap water. But I will definitely be back!

We were recently invited to dine at the newly opened Lucha. Warmly greeted by Sue Ellen, we can see the restaurant is packed to the rafters with more patrons patiently waiting outside. We sip on our Cocktails while waiting for dinner.

*Cocktails are Yoyo Passion, Busy Mango and Beauteaful. They look scrumptious and would have been perfect with a tad more Vodka and Tequila. Rating: 4

*Pork Belly Baos are served warm and the Pork is perfectly seasoned and tender. Rating: 5

*King Prawns with Osmanthus Tea is a half serve. Piping hot from the deep fryer the batter is crunchy but the prawns could have been fresher. Rating: 4

*Stewed Tofu with Jasmine Tea is served with Asparagus. The gravy was bland and I requested salt for this dish. Rating: 3.5

*Peking Duck (half) is served with 5 pancakes. The steamed pancakes are somewhat dry and the Duck skin is soft not crispy. The Duck Noodles has plenty of duck meat and are perfectly fried and seasoned. Rating: 4

*Lucha Roast Chicken is a Signature Dish. We order half a Chicken and it is beautifully presented. Delicious with a sprinkle of salt and ground Jasmine Tea. Rating: 4.5

Lucha is very popular with the local Chinese residents. Wait staff are well trained, patient and helpful. I am impressed with Sue Ellen who leads tirelessly by example. Thank you Lucha and good luck!

We were invited to dine at Lucha and were intrigued by the concept that they use tea in many of their dishes. Asked what was popular to try, we were presented with the half roasted chicken with jasmine leaves, jasmine syrup and a spice mix. The chicken was wonderfully succulent and very tasty, especially when dipped in the spice mix - it was delicious. A clear favourite among other diners, we saw most tables with this dish and it's easy to see why. We also tried the special fried rice and it was packed full of flavour, a winner with grown ups and the kids! The final dish we tried was the salt and pepper chicken wings with black tea. A touch greasy to round off the meal but well cooked and plenty of flavour. We felt it needed a bit of something fresh to cut through the fried elements but it was still tasty.

We tasted a jasmine tea with fresh tropical fruits and while I wasn't a fan of it coming in plastic with a plastic straw and fork when dining in, it was a tasty drink - especially considering neither of us are usually fans of tea.

Service was a little haphazard however we were informed they were understaffed and despite this, the kitchen still got meals out quickly. We weren't offered any water and as we were seated right at the back of the restaurant, it was difficult to flag anyone down to get some. However, with small children, this was definitely the best spot for us to be seated so we could be out of the way of other diners!

An interesting concept on the Brisbane dining scene and one we both thoroughly enjoyed. It would be a great spot for mid-week workers as long as they can improve service slightly, then it would be a real winner. Would certainly recommend, thank you to the team for having us.

Yum 😋 the city has been in need of a really nice Chinese lunch restaurant and this one is the new king in town! Everything was very well executed - the Sichuan fish wasn’t as spicy as I’ve had elsewhere but it was nice to have one with less chili oil for a change. The roast chicken is maybe their most popular dish and is crispy but still very tender - perfect 👌
Misscharlot
been wanting to go to this place, seeing all line up every day since it opened.

So today we came in for lunch, and @spicedad has to order something spicy, so we ended up going for the spicy fish, which is not too spicy in our opinion, which is good if you want to have a go all the time with that Sichuan pepper, loving the fish in the pot, so tender and still keeping them in a piece.

Another dish we ordered is the signature roast chicken, so popular been seeing the pics everywhere on Instagram, guess that's why we have to wait a little longer on this dish too. got two sauces that come with it, one is sweet and one is salty, but is good enough not to dip in any sauce just go natural with the crispy chicken skin =) would love to taste more of the green tea flavor together with the chicken though.
Mood For Good Food
First time at Lucha and I can say I was so impressed. It was extremely busy at lunch so thank god I made a reservation! Me and my friend ordered the Duck Noodle Soup, Crispy Chicken and Pork with rice. Hands down our favourite was the chicken it was so juicy and the skin was crisped to a perfection! The green tea honey and seasoning on the side was so interesting and once in a lifetime flavour. The noodle soup was so fresh and the oils from the duck smoothed into the broth perfectly. We also ordered a black tea no ice and sparkling lychee tea! Not a huge fan of lychee but it was sooo good. I was scared at first from some of the reviews but I think they were just opening so needed to test out the dynamic of the restaurant. I do feel some of the waiters ignore you if you don’t speak Chinese because they look scared of you however, some other waiters were smiling and so happy to help!

Went here for lunch today - lucky we came when we did because once we were seated a line started forming! My friend and I ordered plates to share from their lunch menu - we got their highly recommended Roast Chicken, Roast Duck Noodle Soup and BBQ Pork and Rice.

The chicken was aahhhhmazing, my personal favourite for sure. The hints of green tea throughout was just delicious. The Duck Noodle soup had lots of flavour, and left a really nice aftertaste in your mouth. The BBQ Pork and Rice was what I expected, though the sauce with it added a really nice touch 😊 also ordered one of their fruity teas (of course!!) I ordered their Sparkling Lychee Oolong Fruit Tea. Sooo yummy, could drink it all day!!

All in all, had a really nice time here, and though the wait was a little long (it was extremely busy), the food was definitely worth the wait!! Can’t wait to get my second serving of that roast chicken 😍

Tropical fruit jasmine tea is a must try! Amazing restaurant and concept. I also ordered a signature lucha roast chicken which was top notch. One of the best Chinese cuisines in the CBD.

Stumbled across this kitchen/bar after dinner we were too full to try any of the meals and food dishes, however we took out milk tea. It was okay, lacking flavour and was not as creamy as other milk teas we've tried before.
Dining area was vibrant and seemed like a good place to catch up with friends

Have not had lunch in the City for a while and planned to go to the department stores for EOFY sale's exploration. Incidentally, we have been invited to this new born baby two days before the weekend so might do the visit as well.
Honestly, I felt shame not to aware the famous FudoDori Venue in the Elizabeth Street (looks like it was the previous spot of Elizabeth Arcade). It really looks great and up-market.
Location of this restaurant & bar is very eye-catching at the entrance of the venue. As admitted by the owner that there was along queue during the grand opening and there are lots of teething problems. Consequently, the management they have to close for one day and tried to rectify the issue asap.
Upon our arrival in a group of three, the restaurant was half occupied. After perused of the menu, we were shock on the broad range of dishes offering on the menu including the food and beverage (love to see some new things happening on the drink menu).
We ordered some signature dishes and some favourite dishes as the following: half of the LUCHA roasted chicken, combination mushroom chicken soup with Olong Tea, King Prawns with Osmanthus Tea (entrée size), steamed Pork and cabbage dumplings and Wontons with spicy sauce. As the name of the restaurant called LUCHA, which is literally meant the "Green Tea", it is not surprising to see many of their signatures were prepared with green tea.
The LUCHA roasted chicken accompanied with some green tea leaves (4/5). Texture was tenderised but skin can be more crispy. We could not taste any green tea aroma from the chicken but the dips did come with very rich green tea taste, which was prepared with green tea extracts. If the chicken itself can be smoked with green tea (like Smoked Tea Duck) and presented with smoke in a jar covered up the chicken, the theatre definitely makes the dish up to another level. Combination mushrooms chicken soup tastes well with mixed fresh mushrooms and heaps of chicken thigh meat. Again, no tea taste is tasted but we noted that the broth was extracted from chicken, which can be more rich in flavour (4/5). King Prawns with Osmanthus Tea came with very generous portion of 10 pieces of king prawns, which is tenderised but again we could not taste the Osmanthus tea (3.5/5). Dumplings is just average (3.5/5) and so as the wontons with spicy (3.5/5).
Drink-wise, we ordered the Beerly Sunrise and the Boba Grape Sparkling Olong Tea. The former is interesting but I had similar drink in Western eatery before with Corona instead of Asahi; the latter one is not a surprise to us but just a new version of bubble tea.
Overall dining experience was decent with rectified wait-staff's training and we found the service was attentive and friendly yesterday.
Overall, we understand teething problem is definitely existed but we also noted the passion from the management who try to improve the service and production.
Conclusion is advised to wait and give it a go again.
Rating btn 3.5-4.0
Spice Is Life
We were first apprehensive to try Lucha after reading the other reviews, but being a Sunday evening we thought it would be less busy and gave it a go.

It wasn’t too busy when we walked in, and we were seated and given menus straight away.

I was craving some Peking Duck, so we ordered the 2-course half duck ($32.95)- first with duck pancakes and the second was duck noodles. Wanting to try a Lucha Signature dish, we opted for the Combination Mushroom Chicken Broth with Oolong Tea, which was unfortunately sold out. We traded this for classic Spicy Wonton ($9.95) and Pork and Shepherd’s Purse Dumpling ($8.95). While the dumplings were decent, the duck was slightly on the drier side. The noodles that came with the duck however, were delicious as they weren’t dripping in oil the way most stir-fried noodles are served.

I opted for some puer tea to wash the food down, while my wife got herself the Oolong Milk Tea (this was delicious, btw!). Overall our experience was good, they have only been operating for a week and just as any new business, understandably there are kinks to be solved. Our mistake was not coming in for the Signature Roast Chicken, which every other table seemed to have ordered! We will have to come back for it.
FOODIE ADVENTURE
Finally got the chance to check out the much talked about FudoDori venue and l loved it. Loved the whole atmosphere and can't wait to see more restaurants open up.

Visited during lunch break so only had the chance to try what Lucha had to offer. Of course it was crazy busy but we were lucky to get a table. Go early if you want a table. They have a lot of staff on hand but l honestly don't think the staff got proper training. They are polite but they were a complete mess. Orders were being taken to wrong tables, orders took forever and food that did come out was very inconsistent. We ordered chicken congee which lacked flavour and was very boring and about 20 mins later our other dish came out but we had to ask a few times what was happening with our order. The other dish was Lucha's signature Roast Pork Belly. It was nice and delicate and tasted great as expected but the poor customer service really let us down. I saw a lot other dishes on the menu that l want to try but not until they improve their customer service.

It is very disappointed restaurant overall. First, the service is really massive, every staffs are very busy but disorganized, I advise they should complete a training course before opening. The food is terrible or it can be described as “DISASTER”, we ordered a eggplant pot, it just a few eggplant and cut in very small piece and it taste like mixed the chilli sauce with eggplant simply. The prawn dumpling is 100% purchased from supermarket or somewhere. If you are hungry, you will starve at the table, I waiting for the plate in 50 mins. I really want to mark this restaurant in negative.
_kreativecakes
Unfortunately service is a massive part of my reviews. This place is new and it's super busy at lunch but this place is very disorganised and its obvious when you see staff looking confused and food arriving at wrong tables. We only orders a chicken congee and pork belly. The congee lacked flavour. In fact we had to ask for soy source. The pork took forever to come. By now we were deeply disappointed and very late back to work. The place has potential. The staff definately more organising. The location is ideal and it is a very trendy location. I wish this place all the best.
Espresso&Matcha
Second installment in my adventures down Fudo Dori, this time Adam and I went to try out LuCha, the modern Chinese restaurant situated along Elizabeth street right next to Koto Sanpo. . Having heard of all the lunch time crowds and wait times, we made sure to get there early. Even at 11.45am, the place was already past half full and very busy. There was definitely an abundance of staff who were all very attentive throughout our experience.
Jules Chilvers
Food tasted ok but was too expensive and took too long. I think they need to consider lowering the prices to compete with other restaurants nearby that offer better value for money. The menu has very few pictures so it was hard to know what to order.

The staff were friendly but seemed inexperienced - we had to ask 2 times for water and when we asked for an extra bowl it was still dirty. The cutlery was also a bit dirty. The drinks bar was also a bit noisy and our table was very close to it.

This place has only been open a week so I sure that these things will improve in time. I probably won’t go back again unless the prices are lowered.

Arrived during a busy lunch service. Got seated immediately and ordered signature dishes. The chicken was extremely moist and 5/5 on the presentation. Fried rice was amazing but could do with a tad more seasoning for my liking. Deep fried prawns whilst eating the fried rice was a good combo! I ordered the oolong grape tea, which was okay, wasn’t that great. But the food was amazing! Good value for money.
