Fresh bread and delicious pate! My favourite banh mi in Brisbane! next time I would ask for extra chilli!
As a Vietnamese person, I’ve had my fair share of BMT. This place is by far the best for the price. There’s some fancy BMTs in Brisbane which of course cost much more so as expected, price and quality of ingredients would be higher.
But for a classic pork roll, nowhere in Brisbane does it better than here. I love how they put it in the grill to heat and crisp up after you order. The bread is so crisp on the outside but still soft inside. The butter is AMAZING. I don’t know what is in it, but the BMT would not be 5/5 without it.
It used to be $4 but I think it’s $4.50 per roll now. Still a great price for such a delicious BMT.
One of my favourite Banh Mi outlets in Brisbane, I have been coming here for decades. Service is always friendly and with a smile. The Roast Pork Banh Mi with Pork Crackling is my favourite and the Traditional Banh Mi is also highly recommend.
The two Roast Pork Banh Mi have a generous serving of Pork, crackling, pickles, coriander, cucumber, minced chilli and pate in fresh crunchy baguettes. Warmed under the grill, this $6 Banh Mi is scrumptious (ngon lam) and represents great value. Well done ladies!
I struggled to find the place initially. I had to double check I got the right place because the shop looked unassuming and somewhat “dodgy”. Ordered the combination and special roll to try. My first bite and I was blown away, so good. 4.8 is underrated, it should really be 5.0, or more, no less. Highly recommended

Is this Brisbane’s Best Banh Mi? Potentially yes.
Prices are very affordable around ~ $5 which is a big tick. Bread was crispy (my gf says “sharp”) on the crust but fluffy and soft inside. I got the crispy roast pork which gave some extra crunch, and the other ingredients inside tasted nice and fresh.
Overall I can’t fault the place really - maybe deduct points if I felt harsh because they are “Cash Only” with only private ATM nearby - but it’s small monetary purchases (you wouldn’t spend over $20 here for 1/2 people) so I’ll let it slide.
5/5
The verdict is in - best banh mi thit in Brisbane full stop exclamation marks!!!!!! The baguettes were light and crispy, soft in the inside (that's when you know it's perfect), pork was pungent and cracking was super crunchy - what else can you ask for?
Do not know why I was craving for a nice Banh Mi so drove to Darra to re-visit this store. It was a shame that I forgot to order the Roast Pork Banh Mi but just Pork Banh Mi. Having said that there is no regret that the pork Banh Mi still sings! This store should be the best place to have Banh MI in Brisbane because there is always guarantee of crispy baguette and generous portions of ingredients. I must go back for the roast pork one soon.

Read the previous reviews of this Take-Away, my curiosity pushed me to explore the full-mark Banh Mi. Drove there few weeks ago on Saturday morning. Those people work there are very friendly and I ordered the Roast Pork Banh Mi and the so-called very sweet iced Vietnamese coffee. Wow, the banh Mi is good and the crackles of the roast pork very crunchy. May I warn you that the iced Vietnamese coffee is really sweet; however, it demonstrates its authenticity as a Vietnamese drink. Overall experience is very pleasant.
The only place to go in Brisbane for the best takeaway Banh Mi. Oh my gosh, that bread!! Where can I buy this bread? I am obsessed with it - so lightly crispy and airy soft inside. So good. I normally get the chicken roll with added chilli. The beautiful flavours of marinated chicken that meld with the pate and garlic butter are just perfect with that soft bread. And all this amazingness for just $4. It's not easy for me to get to but if I am remotely close to this area I will make sure I stop in and get one every time.
Excellent Banh Mi at Vietnamese prices!
This dingy looking bakery near the roundabout opposite the Darra train station produces delicious banh mi - we tried the traditional pork and the Vietnamese roast pork versions. The baguettes are feather light and crispy, the pork is tasty and the crackling is super crunchy. Best of all are the prices - $4 for the standard bahn mi thit (traditional pork) and $5 for the deluxe roast pork option. This place is very popular and the rolls are made to order, so be prepared to queue!
Upon sound reading, off went myself and Jamiesgirl to have a hot tasty morsel on a coolish morning last week.
Well, a tasty morsel was found indeed!!
On entry, we were greeted audible by the hum of a v busy business in the throws of pre- lunch rush.
Two cheeseburgers and two white Vietnamese Iced Coffees were ordered.....
The service was prompt, and we watched the fresh burgers grilled and assembled to burger greatness! Loads of people in and out, like a revolving door ( which it’s obvious it really is ) and enjoyed a delightful mix of sights sounds and all senses working.
The iced coffees didn’t disappoint cold, refreshing and delicious 😋
Seating is limited so off we wandered around the corner to sit in the sun and devoured our hot burgers with zeal. Perfect....
Surrounded by the smell of Chair Sui, five spice, we finished our rather Large morsel and head for more sites, drawn by the smells of great things ahead........Jamiesgirl
After a day at lone pine, we decided to grab a bite to eat at Scott's red deli. A little takeaway shop in Darra on the way home and on the list of places to grab banh mi. I remember as a kid mum used to take us here before school to grab banh mi for school lunch.
Street parking as there are a handful of parking spaces out front, and being a public holiday it was busy.
Having this again has brought back those memories, nothing has changed since back then. Good classic banh mi, good bread with pate, butter, 2 slices of pork and carrot, cucumber and coriander. And all for the price of $4.
If ever in the area this is one to visit.
Don't let the interior and exterior of Scott's takeaway fool you. This place has THE BEST banh mi (Vietnamese pork rolls) in Brisbane, hands down. Add that with prices starting at $4 bucks, cannot go wrong.
Oh how I love thee banh mi, let me count the ways. I love your crispy bread, your crunchy crackling, piled up roasted porkiness, subtle pate, fresh veg, chilli hit, your unfancy origins & most of all your $5 price tag. I love you in ALL the ways. Always. ❤️
Hands down the BEST banh mi! Have been coming here for years and am yet to find a better one. It is super authentic with their menu consisting of the traditional chicken/ pork meat. They also toast the fresh bread rolls which is a nice finishing touch and for $4 how can you go wrong. A must try!
This place brings back memories of my uni days when I used to go here all the time and have banh mi after or before classes.
Well well, after a year or so I finally went back to this place today to fill my urge for banh mi.
Even though I havent been here for a while this place hanst changed in its appearance except I saw a new shop around the corner and train station had upgraded look. It was just at lunchtime and I saw many people waiting for food already.
I ordered pork roll with bit of chilli 🌶 and bought coconut water($2.50) after contemplating vs vietnamese iced coffee($3).
Waited about five minutes sitting on a plastic chair and there it was, freshly made pork roll in paper bag handed to me ready to be eaten. I couldnt contain myself and had to have a bite even before I remembered to take a photo! Oops!
I really dont know how they do it but this harmony of crispy flaky fresh bread, filled with garlicky butter, cucumber, carrot, pork, and coriander with bit of chilli(optional) is just magical.
And all this for $4!!!!!
I cant fault anything for this place. They deserve 5/5.
The institution of Bahn Mi; the assembly line is always in full swing. Been here a number of times, but first time I tried Chicken instead of Pork. They never skimp on chilli. Nothing fancy but it always hits the spot.
We're from Melbourne where I (with probable bias) think produces stellar banh mi. My favourite haunt in Melbourne is Nhu Lan Bakery. After being in Brisbane for a month, I've get to eat a banh mi that is something to write about until I had one from Scotts... which I think it pretty special. I've had banh mi and bread from all the Vietnamese shops in Inala Shopping Centre and those are so inferior to the banh mi at Scotts Rd. The favourite is the VNmese banh mi. Not only is the filling more superior at Scotts, so are the baguettes!
Do not judge the quality of the shop by its standard takeaway exterior.
In the quest for best banh mi in Brisbane, the Scotts Road Takeaway was a name that came up a number of times. Despite the distance (Darra being only a smidge closer than Inala, where we had Minh Tan’s banh mi), it was a trip that had to be made. The outside of the Scotts Road Deli or Takeaway.
Excellent banh mi thit. Always consistent quality and definitely hard to get a more satisfying meal for $4-5. Cans of drink are also priced well. Great place to feed the family on a budget.
I don't give many 5 reviews, but this place is deserving. I'm more of a cheap ghetto tasty foodie and this place absolutely nails that. If your a fan if banh mi this place should be on top of your list to try for sure. And for $3 you cant really go wrong!
After reading such great reviews from Joe K and Kan Do about this place, hubby Johnk2154 & myself decided to check this place out.
Kings Hot Bread Shop in Hurstville is our favourite Pork Roll shop in Sydney and were curious if any place in Brisbane could compare.
From the outside and also inside this takeaway shop looks a bit tired and I was a little bit concerned by its lack of decor. But, dont let that intimidate you, this place is the real deal.
We decided to start with the basic Pork roll for $4!! First thing we loved was that they warmed the bun up. Next the bun itself, so fresh and crunchy! Not as much filling as at Kings Hot Bread in Hurstville, but for $4 this was still great value. The flavour......wow! We sat in the car gorging our faces. The pork was so tasty with the cucumber, coriander, carrot and chilli complimenting it. We did concede that this pork roll was amazingly good if not better than Hurstville! We decIded to go back in and share a Special Pork roll for an exorbitant amount of $5!!!!! They very kindly cut it in half for us and again the flavours blew us away! The constant stream of customers is testament that this place delivers great quality food at a very reasonable price....can't wait to try the whole Pork Roll range.
P.S. sorry no photos as the rolls were too yummy to stop for such trivial activities
I find few things as satisfying as a kick-ass Banh Mi, and where else but Darra or Inala to find the cream of the crop? In terms of flavours and fillings, Scotts Road Deli is as authentic as it gets. You'll find the list of filling options not straying from the traditional- with pork loaf, chicken and combination (pork belly and pork mince) just to name a few. In terms of the baguette itself, Scotts Road definitely delivers- you can expect your baguette to be perfectly soft and fluffy on the inside but satisfyingly crunchy on the outside. The only thing I would suggest is that the fillings themselves be more generous. At my last visit, the fillings were much smaller than what was shown in some of the previous photos posted. Overall still a good experience, though I think heartier fillings would catapult this inconspicuous little eatery to next level Banh Mi heaven, giving Scotts Road Deli the title of best Brisbane Banh Mi it has the potential to achieve.
No.1 in my book for pork rolls. Among the other things their gravy and chicken are worth mentioning as well. They taste great at any temperature but it is best eaten it is toasty warm when served.
In my opinion, and it appears in the opinions of quite a few other people, this is the place for the best banh mi (Vietnamese pork and salad roll) in Brisbane. Light, crispy bread roll that contains fresh cucumber, coriander, carrot and beautiful roast pork with crispy crackle. An absolute delight and for a very reasonable price.
The extra butter for an extra 50c is worth it, and so is the extra meat for an extra $1. In fact, order extra of whatever you can here (including chilli if you like it). If you haven't tried it, go out there and give it a shot.
Excellent Bahn Mi ... This place really satisfies our craving after coming back from Vietnam! We have been a number of times and the food is always excellent. Freshly made while you wait!
Easily the best banh mi in Brisbane.
The bun is expertly made and when fresh is heaven in your mouth.
Not close to the best Vietnamese in Sydney but for Brisbane this is the best you'll get
$3.50 for a pork roll, you can't go wrong, whenever I am going to be in the area for work I know exactly what I am having for lunch 👌🏽👏🏼 D-E-licious
My word, best Vietnamese pork rolls I have tasted yet!
This unassuming shop does not stand out at all, but boy do their bahn mis make me feel special!
Tried the Vietnamese roast pork roll and their Vietnamese iced white coffee.
The pork roll was served warm, with a generous serving of roast pork and vegetables inside. If you can stand some degree of spiciness, it is a MUST, I repeat - an absolute MUST to have chilli in your pork roll. The end product will blow your mind, and when I started eating it, I dreaded the moment that would be the last bite of the pork roll.
The iced coffee was very sweet and concentrated, your best bet would be to let the ice dilute the coffee for abit before consuming it.
No fuss ordering, no fuss collecting, simply outstanding pork rolls, 10/10 will be back again even though it is about 20 minutes out of the way for me.
It is simply THAT good!
Absolutely hands down the best pork rolls in Brisbane! The craving for these crunchy, spicy, creamy rolls of deliciousness strikes me often - luckily I'm only a 10 minute drive away from satisfaction. Chilli is used sparingly (unless you stipulate otherwise) so don't wimp out and go the no chilli option. Honestly these are so damn good you'll want another one straight after finishing the first. Mmmmmm banh mi. Can't stop thinking about them now.
Went out for a quick lunch got a $4.00 Bahn mi, which is a vietminese pork bun, ive had a few in the past and this rates in the top and it was delicious. Great job
Best Bañh Mí in Brisbane! Period!
For $5.50 you can get the Combination Pork Bañh Mí - Vietnamese Ham, Pork, Carrot, Cucumber, Paté, Chilli, Coriander. Best value around. The sandwich is made fresh while you wait and the bread roll that contains all that delicious goodness is the best to be had as well.
If you are not a local, it is well worth the trip to sample this stellar sandwich!
As I am an all or nothing sort of person, after discovering first hand the deliciousness that is a banh mi, I made it my quest to travel to the West side to gather some more samples for "the best banh mi in Brisbane". So far this has come to a pretty close winner (other bakeries still outstanding of course).
This takeaway was unassuming with throwback to 2005 prices $4 (I paid $7 for one at Southport two days prior) with drinks being $1.20. I ordered a chicken banh mi and was pleasantly surprised when the chicken was warm (is this usually the case? As I said, my sample is quite small so far and the three previous ones were cold!) with a generous amount of carrot and coriander (unlike other places). The flavors of the chicken were indescribable. I guess it had been marinated in something. Whatever it was. It totally worked.
I just wish I lived closer to be able to visit regularly!
My partner took me here over the weekend, we both live in the city and don't have private transport so getting out to Darra was a mission. The sole purpose of our adventure was banh mi. I was ordered by my food boss(partner) to get extra butter, extra pate and to order two buns. Helpless to refuse, that's what I got, They were DELICIOUS! It's
lucky I don't have a car or I would be buying these untill I gain double my weight and develop an anxiety complex from merely looking at banh mi.
10/10 very very tasty
Hands down the BEST Banh Mi Thit I have ever had. Been coming to this place for 25 years (since I was 5 years old) and I have always loved their Banh Mi. Definitely worth a 10 out of 5 rating in my heart.
Best Vietnamese Roast Pork Rolls in all of Brisbane
Best bahn mi ever!!. Read the title. Nuff said!
Best bahn mi in town.. I have tried nearly all of them around Brisbane and I keep coming back to this place as they are hands down the best around. I have been coming here for 20 years now and the Supreme Pork Bahn Mi has only gone up 1 dollar in all that time. Great work. Although they have recently changed ownership (yes the little lady from behind the counter is now gone) the pork rolls are still as great as ever. I also on occasions tried a few of their other items like the burgers and they have always been great too.
I usually get my banh mi thit fix from the bakery at Inala Civic Centre near the post office. The one here is better - purely because you get more meat and pay less, a mere $3.50!! Probably the cheapest meal in town and certainly one of the most delicious. Their drinks are also cheap, try the huge can of roasted coconut juice for $2.50. Make sure you call ahead to check they have banh mi in stock - they regularly sell out well before closing time. This place will definitely be my regular banh mi thit joint from now on :)
Amazing banh mi!! Best value for money and super tasty.
Best banh mi in Brisbane!. Absolutely the best banh mi in Brisbane. Been coming to this place for years. Have tried Banh Mi at other places in Brisbane including the City and Inala but this one is the best! Very reasonably priced too!
Been coming here for the last 16 years! The best banh mi thit in Brisbane without a doubt!
Best Banh-Mi in town. Hands down.
Only come to this takeaway for one reason..BANH MI! $3 bucks for a glorious viet pork roll which is toasted to perfection. Only let down is that the staff can at times forget to put pate on the roll.

This seemingly typical Take Away harbours a terrific secret:
Sidle up to the Counter,
Order a "Bun Me Tit,"
Specify whether you want it with Chili or not,
Pay your money,
Step back,
Watch the Magic Happen.
Some say Scott’s Road Darra have the best banh mi in Brisbane. I don’t know if I’ve ever been to the store but randomly found myself enjoying one of their banh mis, albeit before realising it was from here!
It was part of a bulk catering order that someone else in church organised for an event, and I didn’t find out until afterwards that it was from Scott’s Road. Great value at $5 each. The bread crust had a bit of crisp and crunch, and the inside was soft. I wouldn’t normally order the version with sliced pork, but appreciated the opportunity to have it this time and enjoy the combination with pate - nice and tasty. Would have appreciated a bit of chilli, but our entire order was without chilli to cater for a wider audience.
Top 2 or 3 in Brisbane for Banh Mi. Always consistent and perfectly balanced with a price that cant be beaten. I used to travel 40 plus minutes to get rolls from here and now I have sadly moved even further away so I wont get these delicious rolls as much as i'd like.
Beautiful banh mi rolls the bread rolls are nice and crunchy and ultra fresh plenty of pork crackle definitely worth the visit.
Finally, found a banh-mi place in Brisbane that actually tastes great. Coming from NSW we were so disappointed that almost all of the banh-mi shops we've been to in Brisbane they're always in pre-made rolls wrapped in cling film and in the fridge. Sorry, rant over. Let me reiterate, Scotts Road Takeaway is NOT one of those places, it's an absolute gem of a banh-mi shop.
We got the Pork Roll and Vietnamese Roast Pork Roll to go halvies and share between us. Both are excellent even though they could have added more ingredients. That garlic mayo in the Pork Roll is just amazing! Crusty roll and soft on the inside. The rolls are warm and hearty. But of a wait as the team are furiously making your roll fresh, but it's worth the wait. It was $5.50 for the Pork Roll and $6.50 for the Vietnamese Roast Pork Roll. An absolute steal of a meal. Even though it's not as good as Marrickville Pork Roll in Sydney, still a worthy 5 stars.
Brisbane needs to up their banh-mi standards and Scotts Road Takeaway will help get them there.
One of Brisbane's best banh mi! Bring cash, they don't take cards (what year is this?) but they still deserve a 5 star
Its not Sydney good, but as good as you get in Queensland. When I am within 20 minutes drive it is well worth the detour. 5stars Qld, 4stars NSW. Please Sydney Vietnamese bakery owners (#hongha) please consider a life on the #GoldCoast
Excuse the mess!! Great quality bread, a lot of meat! Soo much much meat ill need to remember to order more pickled carrot. Ill need to remember to get salt and pepper for the roast gravy too!
