Best bbq brisket I have had inside of Australia that wasn’t cooked by a bbq pit master. Chicken burger is also amazingly good. Would recommend both and the cheese sauce is a must!!! I’ll be back.
Went here for lunch today, the pulled pork is delicious and the staff and atmosphere are great. I also really enjoyed the sides I don't know what they put in their Texas beans but I want the recipe! The food and drinks came out quick enough and we all left feeling satisfied. We will def be back
This place is bomb! Awesome service and the food was amazing 🤤🤤 + points for an enjoyable Long Island ice tea! 🍹 definitely will be back! Didn't get the name of the guy who served us tonight but he was awesome ☺️👍🏼

Bootlegger has an awesome vibe to it. An American style restaurant specialising in the own smoked meats.
Upon visiting, we were greeted by the friendly staff. The drinks menu was extensive and these were served quickly.
We decided to try the honey popcorn shrimp. The name says it all, little pockets of sweet tempura shrimp. Although nice, I don’t think it’s worth $18. I think this should be replaced with some of Uncle Sams popcorn chicken. Maybe a new menu idea?
I ordered some sliders with cheesy fries for a main. The most flavoursome was uncle sams chicken slider. The breaded chicken was cooked to perfection and had a beautiful flavour, the sauces served on the burger really lifted the combination.
The beef slider was average, the beef patty was a little firm and nothing really stood out about it.
The burnt ends slider was quite nice although when I think of the title I would expect crispy, charred brisket. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case. The flavour however was still quite tasty.
Lastly the cheese on the fries, this is $3 extra for an average under flavoured cheese sauce. It needs more punch it needs to be a full flavoured yellow cheesy American sauce.
Overall the experience was pleasant however I think the flavours of food could be executed a little better.
Readers will know that as a somewhat recluse southsider, it takes something quite special to bring me out of my self imposed exile (not really) to the northside. Having long heard of the renovations done on Westfield Chermside, it finally took an invitation from Bootleggers to bring me up into the uncharted north for a hearty American lunch on a rainy Saturday afternoon. I was lucky to be accompanied by food reviewer iHo for this meal.
Went on Friday night With family. Barramundi was a bit small for the price and one steak meal was very tough. The Parma and the cheeseburger were good. Ordered drinks which arrived so ordered 2 more cokes. These didn't arrive so ordered from the same lady again. These didn't arrive either. Decided to leave and checked with the waiter if we were only charged for the 2 cokes and he said yes. Got to the car and checked the receipt and realised we were charged for 4 cokes instead of 2. Very expensive for a shopping centre. Will not go too often and will check receipt next time to make sure we are charged right. Service was not good at all..
A wonderland of smokey delights.
Following a raft of American style eateries in Brisbane I sampled the offerings at Bootlegger today at the invitation of Espresso & Macha.
Disclosure: we dined at the leisure of the manager.
Ambience: a little hipster - cool woody industrial.
Menu: extensive. Burgers, wings, beef rib, beef brisket, pork ribs.
Service: quite snappy and V friendly.
The foods have a delightful smokey flavour. Some reliance on the tangy/creamy accompanying sauces. Chips were crunchy with a lightly spiced seasoning.
Verdict: would go again, value for money at normal price seems fair.
The wait staff were very attentive and courteous. The food was cooked well, arrived promptly and the serving size was generous. Some menu items were not available, however the staff compensated for this by increasing the serve of other items. The decor reflected the restaurant theme, and there was a friendly, casual atmosphere. Recommended.
The BBQ beef spare ribs here are to die for. Love the sides too like the cobbed corn and the texas beans. The staff are welcoming and the food comes out quickly. Great BBQ place
Great restaurant in the Chermside shopping centre with a great southern American theme.
Great menu choices available and the food is tasty. Serving sizes are as expected and are presented suitably to the restaurant’s theme.
Prices are on the steeper end of the scale, especially for a shopping centre.
Staff were really friendly during service. We did have to wait for a table, but staff were attentive in ensuring we got seated ASAP.
Would I return? Yes, probably. Because I like this type of food and it is a great place with friends.
Food was really nice, waitress is so friendly
Loved Cheesy chips so much!!!
Added just $3 and enjoyed a looooot
I love me some beer, banter and a full belly.
Ambience (4.2): Great pub slash restaurant setting located in Chermside shopping centre. Sat outside and the atmosphere created a real energised and buzzing scene.
Service (4): Nothing done above and beyond but I just liked with how busy they were they actually had the time to ask about our meal and provide us with a highly satisfying stay. Speed of service on point.
Food (4.1): Never had mac ‘n’ cheese on top of my Parmesan before. Great touch of originality with an excellent portion size as I was very hungry. The mix of ingredients was very appetising for me.
Value (3): Quite on the expensive side of things, but I’m not rating it too low because it definitely did the job.
Revisitability (4.5): Catered very well for myself and friends without having to wait so long for food. Anytime I’m at Chermside shopping centre I’d love to come back.
Keeping in mind it was on a busy Friday night so it’s good to get around and amongst the shoppers for a good feed. With that in mind you want to enjoy your night and have a good dinner. I felt like Bootlegger provided this to me and overall I’m a happy customer.
Hillbilly chicken burger and the calamari was amazing, would highly recommend. Soft drinks overpriced however staff were nice and atmosphere was good.
Located in the outdoor food precinct at Westfield Chermside. Some harsh reviews on here, which I am happy to dispel. (Teething issues may have been a factor) Good selection of beers both local craft beers & a couple of American beers.
Super helpful & friendly staff. Great atmosphere and fitout. Probably could do with some dry bars for casual drinkers who don't want the formal sit down. Ordered the Original Cheese Burger and Sweet Potato Fries. Was certainly tasty and fresh.
The kitchen was super efficient, on display and clean. All pluses in my book.
Came here for dinner with three others. Service, good quality, taste and atmosphere were unbeatable. Wad hesitant after reading some bad reviews online but honestly have nothing but positive things to say about this place. Prices were as to be expected, not a super cheap feed but not overpriced at all (especially considering the quality of the food). Forgot to take photos, was too busy inhaling food. Will definitely return.
In seeing the low rating AFTER eating here for lunch today (1pm on a Tuesday, it was pretty quiet to be fair), I had to finally get off my butt and make my first review in ages.
I ordered the chicken burger and loaded fries.
The chicken burger was by far the best not only chicken burger, but potentially any burger of any type i've ever had. the chicken was so tender it melted away with no force, perfectly prepared and cooked. The only small negative is the buns weren't warmed, but the chicken was so damn fresh and hot it wasn't bad like it normally would be. The slaw was slaw, did the job it's supposed to do.
The star of the show (of both the burger and the loaded fries): THE CHEESE SAUCE. have you over the years, like myself, found yourself ordering dishes with cheese sauce and been bitterly disappointed every time? BE DISAPPOINTED NO MORE. It's everything you can possibly want. It's viscous (bechamel), it's cheddar cheesy, it's warm, it's everywhere. ITS ACTUALLY CHEESY.
The loaded fries being pulled beef brisket and smothered in cheese sauce, the brisket was smoky and tender and deliciously beefy, and the cheese sauce.. well, see above, practically a well of the stuff.
Only regret i have is not getting cheese sauce on the fries included with the burger, i'm too conditioned to 'cheesy fries' being nothing more than plastic cheese sadly sloppy on top of some fries.
This place definitely doesn't deserve the bad reviews it's gotten so far, probably teething issues? I'll be returning to try the mac n cheese schnitty.
Lunch service last week was warmly met with a friendly server who let us take our time on deciding (I'm indecisive!), and was helpful where we asked questions etc. Food was reasonably quick, we each had a burger which was quite good. Fries/chips weren't the hottest, and one of our 3 pieces of chicken had visibly overcooked coating which was disappointing, but otherwise was good.
This place is awesome, the staff were happy and helpful and the food was great value for money. Was so yummy and Decent size, usually schnitzels are tiny but not here. Definitely keen to come back 👌🏻
This is a great find. The food is fantastic. I do love ordering from our table through a QR code, it does make it easier and you don't feel rushed. The decor is fresh and inviting with friendly staff. The wait for food was quick. I'm always abit iffy about burgers because I've had some bad ones, but this burger was amazing, the meat pattie was the best.
Dean, the man the myth the legend. 10/10, amazing customer service. Went above and beyond. He catered to all my friends and made sure we were very happy throughout the night. Love ya work Deano
Had a really nice time here. The manager explained that he was understaffed because of some emergency but he made up for it with the best customer service. We had a great meal, and thank you guys.
