Review Italian Street Kitchen Newstead - Brisbane

Had a great night at this place. Food was very fresh and tasty. Service was fast and staff was friendly. Croquettes were delicious, red sauce was fresh and distinct, and pumpkin ravioli was tasty but a little sweet for me. Overall, truly enjoyed my night and might go back again.

Calamari was good. Black squid ink mayo? Was good with it. Something different for me. Not too bad. I didn’t really enjoy pizza. Really different to me but my partner enjoyed it. There was a lot of stuffs are on. Something massive… it was hard to have it without cutting w knife Pasta was my favorite between all menus. A lot of prawn was inside! You should try pasta! Pork belly dish was so so😅 It could be because i was too full haha. Staff were kind. Have few cocktail options! Good to try one time😊☺️

Spot on service Italian style! Nice ambience reminded me of a street kitchen in Positano. Food was good enjoyed the pumpkin ravioli, star of the show. Pizza was a tad dry. Coffee smooth & creamy

Absolutely love, love, love this place; it’s Amore ❤️👌The food is traditional, rustic and authentic Italian with homemade pastas, delicious sauces and to die for pizzas! With a great, central location, relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff, I highly recommend trying the Italian Street Kitchen!

We went there for Saturday lunch. The service is pretty quick and attentive. We opt for the calamari for the entrée which have a nice squid ink aioli. Then for main we have the fungi and cheese pizza and snapper with lobster sauce. I would to have a crispy skin fish but because the vegetables are put on top of the fish, it became soggy. Overall, the food are great, the services are excellent, and the venue is modern casual.

Great spot for planned or unplanned brunch, lunch and dinner. Very friendly people and atmosphere. Has been recommended the meatballs and although only a starter on the menu, they were happy to make a full meal version. We’ve tried a number of the pasta and pizza dishes and starters. Always tasty and delivered hot and in good time. Recommend for families as plenty of space and accommodating restaurant.

The service was good at the Italian Street Kitchen considering we had a large table of adults and children to cater for. We ordered a bottle of Prosecco wine which came out not chilled! It was replaced with the only cold bottle that they had. Strange to not have cold wine in stock. 3 of us had the Porchetta (pork belly) and our comments were all the same. It was very tender however way too rich in flavour. There was not enough apple and fennel puree to compliment the dish. It also lacked colour. A small amount of green veg beside it would have enhanced the overall flavour and presentation of the dish. The Croquettes were delicious!

Friendly service, good food, and also good environment dining place. My first time here. I rarely have tomato base pasta, but the taste of the pasta I ordered gamberi is really delicious. Will definitely come again. Thank you chefs for the delicious food 😉

Had a pizza party at a friend's place, ordering Italian Street Kitchen in Newstead via Uber Eats.

We had:
* buffalo margherita - tomato, buffalo mozzarella, parmesan & basil
* pizza funghi - mozzarella, gorgonzola, mushrooms, parsley
* diavola - tomato, mozzarella, Calabrese spicy salami, Spanish onion, mushrooms & basil
* ham and pineapple - tomato, mozzarella, pineapple, smoked ham & oregano
* Bolognese arancini - served with parmesan
* golden calamari - served with garlic aioli

The bill came out to $130 and each pizza seemed to be about $5+ more than the in-store pricing. Delivery took about 40 minutes and of course we missed out on that just out of the oven crispness of the pizza bases. Nevertheless the flavours were still good and in the end I think my favourite is the ham and pineapple. This was mainly for the kids though actually the most expensive of the 4. I loved the burst of sweetness from the still juicy pineapple, contrasted with the savouriness from the ham. Simple pleasures, or just a big kid at heart?

Having gone to eat at Newstead quite a few times lately, I couldn't help but be attracted to the fragrance of garlic and napoli sauce as it wafts through the air. Having been open for at least several years, it was interesting, I hadn't heard too much about it. But last weekend we decided it was time to check it out.

Found this place just because I was craving some delicious Italian food and I’ve been back too many times to count since. The portion sizes are good and so are all the flavours. I’ve had a verity of different pastas and they’ve all been delicious. If you’re keen for a bit of sweetness to finish the night, I’d recommend the Nutella calzone.. soooo yummy.

Great pizza - good vibe - nice meal while visiting Brisbane

Great Italian food!

We visited this popular restaurant on a busy Friday night without having booked and we almost went elsewhere when we saw the queue. However other diners convinced us that it was worth the wait - and it was! My husband and I shared a funghi pizza with a delicious thin base and excellent quality toppings, a beetroot salad, beef meatballs (entree size) and a couple of porcini & truffle arancini. We enjoyed ever single item we ordered. It took about 15 minutes for us to get seated but even though it was busy our food came out relatively quickly (within 20 minutes). The staff were attentive and friendly, the prices were very reasonable and we were able to bring our own wine with no charge for corkage!
I Love Food
Dined for dinner as a group of 3 whilst visiting friends. I ordered the mushroom pizza, was tasty. Other diners ordered pizza & pasta & enjoyed their meals. Service friendly.

Amazing ambiance and amazing food.

So much flavour in the pasta we ordered. Cooked al Dante which is the way we like it. Spaghetti meatballs were so juicy. Fettuccini Bolognase was so rich.

And they are on the Entertainment book with buy one get one free. For the price range, it seriously is a must go to.

Will need to try the pizza next time.

P.S. free unlimited sparkling water - what? That’s like $8+ at other places in itself

Booked a table for a large party on a Wednesday and when we arrived, we found they only had minimum staff on... with everyone else in the restaurant, we waited about 40 minutes for the food.
Food Glorious Food
Still and sparkling on tap (complimentary)
Ordered the 3 dishes as pictured and half carafe of house red. 2 diners $60
A little bit more than the regular Sunday afternoon lunch.
But it was so lovely. It’s been a really yucky damp and rainy weekend. We had cabin fever. We needed to go out and treat ourselves with a nice lunch.
The food itself isn’t spectacular, but it deserves the 5 stars as it is quick, tasty enough and reasonably priced
The pizza base was really nice and crisp, pasta cooked al dente and lovely staff too

Rated 3.5. Been here a few times with friends and family for lunch/dinner mainly due to convenience of the location, therefore this review is an amalgamation of our visits over the past few months.

Overall, I quite enjoy the pizzas at ISK. They are crispy, thin-based and fresh out the wood-fired oven with generous portions of toppings. The pizzas comes out whole and you are given a pair of solid scissors to portion out the pieces between you and your companions.
We have tried the Pizza Etna (one of their specials), Funghi, Capricciosa and Diavola.

The pastas were fairly average. We have tried the Gnocchi Sorrentina (doughy gnocchi submersed in sauce), Rigatoni Amatriciana (average) and Ravioli (small fillings, lacking flavour).

There are also self-serve tap water and sparkling water stations. Order at the counter.

Casual ambience - very popular for lunch and dinner in the Gasworks area. Service has been variable - occasionally very friendly and efficient, however another time it took over 20 minutes to gain attention for cutlery and then takeway containers. Reasonable prices.

Overall, an average Italian restaurant, however with reasonably solid pizzas.

Not sure the price tag matches the quality of food. It wasn’t bad exactly just not impressive. Staff were not very helpful when I walked in, I wasn’t sure if it were table service or if I needed to wait to be seated, and although I stood in front of the counter trying to figure it out, not one staff member acknowledged me and my friends.
Ordered the roast lamb which was dry, but might give it another try and order a pizza

Sadly, both of those things don’t always go hand-in-hand. Nothing strikes fear into the heart of someone standing behind a white table cloth as the sight of small sticky fingers. . As such, I’ve become a little bit obsessed with finding kid-friendly restaurants so that my mini-me and I can both enjoy an (early) night out.

This was actually my first restaurant experience for 2018, (1st January) but i hadn't got around to finishing my review until, today.

I had to drop off my partner at Gasworks this particular day, so i thought i should eat at a near by establishment. My daughter and i- not that she had a choice- settled on Italian Street Kitchen.

It's counter service, so after finding a table and deciding on what to order, we made our way up. This is when i came across the self-service water and sparkling water bar. I've never seen this before and thought it was an excellent addition.

The Margherita ($13) was good. Base was crispy and sauce was simple, but i think they use a shredded mozzarella, as apposed to the white fresh mozzarella. However, I feel this is a good value Margherita.

We also ordered the Spaghetti Meatballs ($18). The pasta was cooked well and the napoli sauce was simple and rich. I could have had that with some parmesan cheese and it would have been delicious! The meatballs were a complete let down. They were dense and boring. Reminded me of frozen store bought meatballs.

Overall experience was good and i'd come back.

Food is tasteless and expensive for the quality and quantity. We had calamari, croquettes, lasagne- lasagne was good not amazing but probably the best thing we had there. Caprese salad was terrible, a few soft soggy tomatoes and no flavour what’s so ever. Wouldn’t return again or recommended to anyone else. Far from authentic Italian.

Ordered spaghetti meatball, bruschetta and a glass of wine. While the meatballs were kickass, I did not like their bruschetta. Although the ambience was great, tightly packed restaurant with lots of tables and lil place to walk. Good experience, might go back!

Pizza solid. Pasta has been very hit and miss for me. Too salty, or too Al dente(chalky) for me and pet peeve:carbonara with cream. Prices are exceptionally good, so I'll probably continue to return. Not sure why the gender discrimination though...men in kitchen, women serve. I think they need some women in the kitchen...less ego more care. Imo.

Friendly and fast service without being rushed, made for a relaxing start to the evening. Busy staff keeping things clean and moving. Meals came quick and hot, was able to make deletion to a set pizza order. Other meals at the table were hot, flavoursome and a good serving size. Well priced, quality eating in a relaxed environment, not fine dining but doesn't need to be - will definitely be back.

I enjoyed the half price drinks but that was pretty much it! The four cheese croquettes were just deep fried matter, pizza was ok, the pork belly was flavourless and the gnocchi tasted like a $2 microwave meal from coles. A lot of better Italian around.

What a gem. Very busy and a great atmosphere. We shared a pizza and a broccoli salad. The pizza was authentically Italian. Easy to eat for a lunchtime pizza and the salad was yum. Sparkling water added to the Italian feel as did the friendly and helpful staff. Definitely another visit in the near future.

We had been wanting to try this place since it opened so i guess we did have high expectations. There was a great vibe as soon as we got there. It was really busy so we had to wait but only waited 10 mintutes before we got a table.
We ordered two starters amd two mains. The fried gnocci was a ok, a little bland. The 4 cheese crocket was better but could also do with a little more flavour. The beef rump cap was really good. Juicy, tender with some nice charring in the outside, probably my favourite of our dishes. The pizza was also pretty good the base was nice and crispy, ingrediants evenly spread out over the pizza with nice flavour. The service is good and the food came out really quickly. The food is also priced well.

Good atmosphere, friendly staff and the food was reasonably priced and tasty. Pizzas were very authentic and delicious. Good to see a local beer on tap as well.

Walk in type seating so go early if you want the best table. Amazing Italian menu that is so inexpensive. My friend and I went and had a bottle of wine, pork main dish and pizza and it was around $55! I was shocked. You have to order at the counter and menus are on the table. Free sparkling water which they offer which is a nice touch. I found it a bit confusing at first and they need a greeter I think - to show how everything works regarding ordering. Lovely interiors, great food and nice outlook. Dining is inside or outside with views over Newstead Park. Parking at Gasworks - 2 hours free parking so its really easy to visit. I would recommend any of their home made pizza and I loved the meatballs!

Just awesome - exactly what Brisbane needed - authentic, fast, casual, reasonably priced Italian food. My parents live right around the corner and I have been 3 or 4 times (they've been many more!) since the opening not long ago!

I always take photos of my food but I have none from Italian Street Kitchen as I must immediately eat as soon as it hits the table haha! I've tried many things from the menu and it's all been delicious but my favourites would have to be any of the veg pizzas (my partner always has Margherita and says you can judge an Italian restaurant on how well they do their Margherita, anyway, this is the best he's ever had!), the arancini are delicious and I love that you can just order one, and oh my goodness the baked cheese is to die for! The Nutella calzone is unreal and so big you need to share with at least 4 people. And free corkage for BYO wine - superb!

Love, love, love Italian Street Kitchen and will keep returning!

The starters were great. My partner loved the white anchovies and I liked my croquette. However the mains were quite bland. No one at the table tried the pizza - but the pasta was lacking and roasts only ok.

I'm going to get straight to it – do not order the crema fritta. Don't do it. Order anything else on the menu. Order the lush pork belly with rosemary roasted potatoes. Order a pizza to share or the oversized slab of tiramisu. Just don't go within a ten block radius of that toxic fritta, because it will taint your tastebuds. Imagine biting into a crumbed fish fillet, but instead of fish you discover warm custard inside. Enticing, right? Wrong. And it wasn't just me – multiple people at our table made the same comment. I don't know what oil it was cooked in, but it was all kinds of nasty. And it was a massive shame, because all the other food was unreal and the service was great.

Nice restaurant. We shared a pizza (Margherita with buffalo mozzarella)- very authentic, thin base but flavoursome. A pasta (cannelloni)- great bechamel sauce. A desert (Nutella calzone)- very sweet.
Overall good prices for a good feed.

very good service, friendly, good vibe, calzone and pizza good, kid friendly, very busy, I liked it. The marina pasta had too much fish in for my liking, but still the rest was great.

Dropped in Mon night. Place was busy. Ordered meatballs which came raw in the middle. The waitress was nice enough and the meal replaced. Only for the second meal to be raw as well. Lost me.

Arrived for a birthday dinner and had to wait about 15 minutes for a table as they don't take bookings. Menus are at the table - once you e chosen your meal and drinks you go and order at the counter. Food arrived relatively quickly. We had calamari which was tender in a light crispy batter and served with lemon and aoli. Next came baked gnocchi, pizzas, cannelloni, spaghetti, meatballs - some meals didn't turn up so we asked the waitress who worked out they were went to the wrong table. She apologised and sorted the missing meals quickly and gave us some free proseco. When we told her it was my dons birthday , she arranged a Nutella calzone with sparklers! There is still and sparkling water on tap.
Good food and a very busy place.

Went there for my birthday with a few friends. Service was fast, staff were friendly and it had a nice welcoming ambience.
Only had to wait 3 minutes from ordering until we got the appetisers and 13 minutes for the mains. Great hot food ☺ will be back again !

Nice atmosphere. You do need to go up and order at the counter but I suppose for their price point I can deal with that. Free sparkling water on tap is awesome. Service was cheerful but you could tell there were still teething issues eg a waiter grabbed cutlery off our table for another table (instead of getting it from the kitchen) then when our food came out it took a while for them to refill our cutlery during which our food was getting cold. Generally speaking food was not too bad, just a bit lacking in flavour. I was really excited to try the fried gnocchi - the texture was good but couldn't taste or smell any truffle. White anchovies were really yum though!! Shared a pizza and pasta special - kinda bland but pizza dough and pasta itself were great, just wish the sauces were more developed. I'd be up to give it a second go and try their spit roasts. There are just so many great Italian restaurants in the area that I would hit up for pizza and pasta before this place sadly.

We went there for dinner, the pizzas we had were very nice, the service was fast and the price is fair.
Will be back soon for sure to try different dishes.

Very impressed with lunch. Decor is great, love that you can see the chefs cooking and wood fire oven looks great! I couldn't find chianti on the menu but the had Sangiovese on tap so that made me happy! Staff were friendly. You pay up at the counter when you order so you can just relax and wait for your food to arrive and leave without waiting for a bill. Food came out quickly and they were quite busy! We had olives, gnocchi, croquets and my favourite, the cannelloni! everything was tasty :) the only thing missing to make it feel like Italy would be to bring some bread to the table while we wait for our food. We'll be back!

Great value for money and a stylish friendly vibe. There's heaters outside or dining inside under the well decorated roof. It will be my new regular Italian dinner choice 👍
