In all my years of visits to Hawken Village I don’t think I’ve stepped foot in La Porchetta once. Finally the day came when I booked via The Fork for a 30% off promotion.
We ordered:
* pollo e fungi risotto, $23.90 - chicken and mushrooms cooked in a delicate stock
* penne beef ragu, $23.90 (main size) - beef simmered in a homemade tomato sauce
* kids meal set, $13.90 - choice of main (chicken schnitzel), side (chips), and drink (apple juice), plus one scoop of ice cream
The food took about 20 minutes to come out which I thought wasn’t too bad given we were a group of 8. The portions are quite generous and seeing some of the other kids meals with the spaghetti bolognese, I reckon it would have been plenty for an average adult! No surprise our friends ended up taking away a chunk of their kids’ leftovers.
Service was warm and friendly. Taste wise I think the food was decent, though wasn't enough to upset the standings on the leaderboard of my existing favourites in this dining precinct.
Tooke the advantage of Fork Festival of 50% off food bill promo to have a dinner here last night. It was a busy Sat. night. When we arrived at 6:00pm. it seemed to be chaotic in the dining area. After ten minutes of warm-up, service resumed to be efficient.
Ordered a minestrone soup and an egg plant chips as entrees and small pizza in Italian topping and a risotto with prawns and zucchini.
Entrees came with generous portion. Honestly, it was the first time that I had the eggplant chips, which is slightly different to those egg plant dishes that I had in Chinese restaurant but they taste well. Soup is good, particularly the home-made focaccia is very soft. Then mains came later, the pizza is full of anchovies, olives and salami. Crust is good without grease. Have not had so good pizza for a while after we came back from Italy in April. Risotto came with four huge king prawns and heaps of sliced zucchini. Maybe it is those zucchini, the risotto seems slightly watery but taste well.
Overall, it is a decent dining experience.
Rating 4.5/5
Had this amazing lunch special Penne and Creamy Carbonara and it was absolutely delicious! The chef was nice and friendly and the preparation speed was so fast. The pasta was so well cooked and the creaminess was amazing! Really looking forward to coming here next time!
Visited this restaurant with a friend for lunch. The staff was a nice Italian lady who was very attentive and friendly.
They have good specials for lunch on weekdays.
We had spaghetti. They are happy to make meals vegetarian. The spaghetti needed a bit more time to be cooked and soft, otherwise it was good.
My friend and I dined here and had wonderful service. We were free to stay and chat after our meals whilst our water was topped up. We could only eat half the meals and we’re able to have it packaged up. You can choose which type of pasta you want your dish served with. I enjoyed a creamy tomato vegetarian gnocchi dish.
Great Italian in hawken drive. The pumpkin and chicken risotto was delicious. Cooked to a creamy consistency with loads of chicken and perfectly cooked pumpkin. The service was fantastic.
The food here is surprisingly very good! Carbonara is my go to pasta, however many places seem to mess it up, too much cream, too dry. However this place gets it just right. Also the lasagna and pizza were plentiful in their toppings and very tasty.
We've come a few times, sometimes with groupons (very good value) and enjoy the pizza (never tried the pasta). I had a groupon issue this week that was my problem rather than La Porchetta's, but the manager and assistant manager were very helpful resolving the issue which I really appreciated.
Panna cotta was very delicious.very friendly staff and pleasing autmosphere. Also home made gnocchi was amazing. Will be back again .Would recommend to try .
I like the pizzas , crunchy pastry, friendly customer service , I had a jummy penne alla matriciana few times very nice. Excellent
Love it. I LOVE IT!!!!! The service is okay, the pizza is AWESOME and the head chef is even better. Went here for a date with my boyfriend and we had just finished out meal and the waitress told us that we should wait a bit longer as the chef was going to sing! Went and got some more wine from next door (BYO awesome) and the chef started singing. It was one of the most romantic evenings that I have experienced and loved every bit of it
Lovely Local Pizza Place. I've been going to La Porchetta for 4 years now - you guessed it, I'm a uni student! - and this place is definitely my favourite. The food is always fresh, hot and delicious. My weekly $14 large pizza has become an institution, and I know that I'm going to be devastated when Reno goes walkabout. Reno is one of the most lovely people you could meet. He's such a nice guy and always wants to know what's going on in my life. It's people like him that really inject warmth and character into a restaurant, knowing that they enjoy life, and their job, and you want to enjoy it all with them too. It really doesn't feel like a franchise, it's your lovely local Pizza place.
This is my local Italian joint. Reliable. Friendly staff. Cheap wine (Lambrusco!). Great lasagne. Relaxed outdoor seating. Suitably kitsch Dean Martin music always playing. Chefs tossing pizza dough. You get the idea. You'll enjoy this restaurant if you're after cheap, casual Italian.
I really like this place. Why? The chef is lovely and really tries to make sure you're happy! Dined in once and had the most delicious pasta in a long time! Pizza and garlic bread are delicious too! I did have a takeaway pasta the other day and was less impressed as it was oily and a bit bland. Still I'll give them another try! Would give them 3.5 stars out of 5!
Just like Toppers in Canada. It seemed like every pizza place is about cracker thin dough....not La Porchetta, authentic chewy Italian dough, generous toppings and lots of cheese, no empty spots on these pizzas, and the price is amazing. Took over a year of trying different pizza places in Brisbane before I found this place, winner! Whole package, delicious, yummy pizzas, friendly staff, super quick service and great prices. It's my weekend takeaway ritual, love it! Yum yum yum!
Been here many times for pizza. If you're looking for an authentic Melbourne style pizza in Brisbane, this is the place. Worth the drive.
FAVOLOSO ;-)). Had the best dinner and entertaining experience in a long time!! The service was great and staff very friendly. My gnocchi were delicious - just a bit too much, but that meant I had a great lunch the next day... my son's pizza smelled and looked fantastic - he loved it!!
Then we had Rino sing with his beautiful warm voice Italian serenades - the atmosphere was complete: it was authentic and you felt amongst friends. Thanks for a great night!! Next time we'll bring more friends along!
Bellisimo!. Wow. What can i say, this place is just great, good location great waitstaff who are so easy to talk to and even better food. Love it! spinach and ricotta pizza is amazing
Amore. La Porchetta...love the food...the wine...the staff are wonderful but wait for it....the singing is just fabulous. Reno you make us all want to get up and sing with you. Thankyou for so many great nights at La Porchetta, Hawken Drive, St Lucia. Calabrese is hard to beat! Just love our Saturday nights and every other night that we are there.
Good meal =). They're a little over priced but it's hard to find a better takeaway pasta than La Porchetta, and the pizzas are good
Great place to come with friends. We love coming here, it is more like Italy than most tourist places in Italy.
The food is very good for the price and whenever we come on a Saturday night, they have Karaoke.
Reno the owner gets his guitar and starts the show with old Italian melodies, then anyone wishing to join in can and does.
They have people singing anything from rock and roll to opera.
The atmosphere is great.
Great! I live close by and this is my go to pizza place. It's well priced and tastes great.
Better than any other La Porchetta!. Best Italian in the area, and this particular La Porchetta is better than any other I've been to in Melbourne - although I have to admit I haven't been to the orignal in Reservoir. This place is cosy, and always smells great. The wait staff are always kind and helpful, even when the place is busy. This is also the only place I've been able to buy San Bitter in Australia! (I got addicted to it in Europe, but took years to find it here once I got back to Aus.) It's not on the menu, but if you ask nicely they are more than happy to bring you that little bottle of carbonated red gold that they keep on the top shelf.
Reno, the owner and I assume head chef, is always really friendly and the wait staff say he's great to work for. The food is great, although could be a little unorthodox with the bizarre combinations of pasta and sauces you can come up with from the mix and match menu; however, if you stick to the traditional combinations, this place will not dissappoint. And the pizzas are fair dinkum Italian. It reminds me of a little piece of Melbourne in Brisbane - I love it.
Awesome. Best pizza in all of Australia and the pasta is pretty good too. Definately worth going to. Great to sit and eat a meal there or take away
Cheap and cheerful. Great service, great meals and great value.
Great pizza, terrible insalata caprese.
The Food was amazing, first time goers a d well definitely be back, highly recommended the Arancini Balls and Prawn and Zucchini Risotto 💖
Tony, the owner, is a friendly, polite and congenial guy, and he made us feel welcome the moment we arrived at his restaurant.
We started the evening with a schooner of refreshing Gt Northern Super Crisp ($8) and a glass of sparkling white wine, at a modest 5 pesos. For entree, we had the arancini balls. They were nice and fluffy with a cheesy filling and a crispy batter. There were four generous balls to the serve. For mains we choose the grilled fish (barramundi) with mash and vegetables, and the spag with meatballs. According to Tony, the meatballs were part beef and part pork, although I’d say pork was the dominant ingredient, so if you’re not a pork lover, avoid this one.
Ambience is casual, laid back and relaxed. The interior is dated but it’s colourfully decked out with an interesting bottle display behind the counter and next to that a huge poster of a chubby, cheerful fellow called “Rocky” in a Roman toga, swilling a glass of red wine. Furniture is fairly utilitarian with wooden chairs and tables, but it all works well to create a homely and convivial atmosphere. The perfect place to enjoy an evening out with friends or family. Service from Tony was efficient and fast. Drinks, entree and main meals came out quickly and in the correct order. Tony is clearly a professional and experienced restaurateur and the place hums like a well oiled machine.
With our 30% discount for booking via “The Fork”, we paid a reasonable $60 for two drinks, a starter and two mains. With our little Aussie peso spiralling ever downwards towards Lebanese or Venezuelan levels of hyperinflation, that’s good value for money.
There’s a single toilet at the back. It’s clean and well provisioned with soap and hand towels, but the door is in need of a lick of paint. I shouldn’t complain though, because this is the only joint on this rather drab and rundown little shopping and eating strip to actually have a toilet.
There’s easy street parking just outside the restaurant or anywhere in the near vicinity, where there don’t seem to be any restrictions. Across the road is the well stocked IGA supermarket and the handy Liquorland liquor store.
We had a pleasant evening, and it’s worth a visit with the 30% discount deal with “The Fork”. The ambience is relaxed and Tony, the owner, will make you feel welcome. Service is attentive and efficient. There is a single toilet and parking is a breeze.
What can I say? First of all, it's just so nice for a real authentic Italian restaurant to have so many vegan options!! So thanku! There's outdoor tables so you can bring your dogs too!
I ate the eggplant parmigiana and oh boy it was so delightful! And such excellent service to top it off. What an attentive and friendly man who served us, making the experience an all round success. We will definitely be back :)

Very nice little cozy restaurant, good ambiance and clean look.
Went there for dessert and coffees ordered Nutella pizza which was a different thing to try and liked it
Coffee was good too.
Staff was super friendly and received great service from the staff.
Upon inquiring I was told that the meat was halal so I will definitely be returning for some food.
Saw a few banners for lunch specials that was amazing and affordable too.
