Had the Dinner for Two on Ubereats plus fish cakes. Both the Massaman and the Chicken and Cashew were delish, the sticky rice was perfect, the fish cakes were standard but enjoyable, the spring roles were a bit plain but Vietnamese spring rolls are the only spring rolls for me so whatever. Not overpriced, and serving sizes were satisfying, with plenty of meat. Would recommend.
Thai Food in New Farm
My husband and I dropped into this tiny restaurant for dinner on a Friday night without a reservation. The restaurant is very small with just a few tables so we were lucky to get a table inside. We ordered a som tum (papaya salad), pad si ew (fried rice noodle) and red curry with duck, lychee and pineapple. The food was really good and the chefs were able to make it Thai hot which we like. We found it all a bit too sweet though - the chefs were unable to adjust the sweetness as they use pastes and sauces that have been prepared in advance. The prices are very reasonable and BYO is $2.50 per head. This is not a place for lingering over dinner - the restaurant is small, the seats are hard and it is very busy with UberEats drivers coming and going!
Ordered takeaway back in 2017. Really good thai food. Generous portion and yummy coconut rice along with chicken cashew stir fry. Definitely above average when compared to places around.
Went in before a show to get something small to eat. I was really surprised when we ordered a papaya salad as an appetiser and received a large serving for quite cheap. Compared to other Thai places I’ve been, the papaya salad is as good as a homemade version. We had to take some home for takeaway and surprisingly was still as good a few days later. Although there’s a bit too much carrot, everything else is really fresh. Lots of Uber eats and other delivery services coming in and out, so as long as you don’t mind a bit of commotion; it’s good food at a good price.
Takeaway review. Pretty standard Thai food that I felt was a tad overpriced for what I got. One thing I didn't like about the food was that my curry came with a bucket load of liquid and it also had the viscosity of water. Tasted fine with rice but I probably needed three times the standard order of rice to eat with all the curry's sauce.
This is the best Thai I’ve had in Brisbane. People who are writing it off are wrong. I used to live across the road and ate here 1-3 times a week. Pad see ew is incredible, yellow curry and Thai basil chicken are all amazing. I’ve never had a bad dish! Moved to Melbourne and tried Thai all over the place and the only place that beat it was Chin Chin for three times the price!
I’m back for a week and trying to eat as much chai Thai as I can!!
Love this little Thai. Flavours are always great, service is good. I've never had a bad meal here. It's pretty casual with not much seating space, so I usually just get take out. I just wish they'd do sticky rice!
Came here with some friends from work for an impromptu visit. Staff were very lovely and catered to us moving around a couple of the small outdoor tables to fit everyone in. We got some starters and 5 main meals and rice for 6 of us which was the perfect amount for the group. Food was very quick to come out and standouts were the Pad See Eew and the Crispy Pork with Asian Greens, however everyone enjoyed all dishes. Prices were very affordable and even more so with decent corkage for the BYO. We stayed for most of the night, leaving just at closing time and staff were very accomodating to us sitting around and chatting for an hour and a half after finishing our food. Will definitely be coming back!
One of the best of the best around in New Farm/Valley for Thai Food. Tom Yum prawn, Tom Kha chicken, pork with greens and their duck curry are to die for. I've had take away and have dined in and it has never disappointed me. The staff are friendly however very apologetic if they make a mistake. Was given a complimentary drink because one time I waited an extra 15mins after calling in to order my meal for pick up but seeing their shop so busy, I wasn't too fussed with it. Their flavours are authentic as anything! !!!
We ordered green chicken curry and chilli basil chicken stir fry. Both were lovely and full of flavour. The take away arrived promptly and it was hot on arrival. I would definitely order from here again.
The staff were really friendly and helpful and the food was reasonably priced. The food took a while to come out though and the curry didn't have many vegetables in it. I would definitely go back and try again though.
We bought Chai Thai last night for takeaway. I had the Chicken with cashew nuts and my partner had the Red duck curry. My chicken and cashew nuts was full of flavour. Everything was cooked well. My partners Red duck curry was way too spicy for me (personal preference entirely as he loved it) but the duck was very tender. The only complaint I have is our rice was undercooked by a fair amount. Some of the rice was still crunchy.
Overall it was very good, definitely a stand out for Thai takeaway. I would return.
Great pad Thai and selection of beers. Ate here for the first time Sunday night and it definitely won't be the last. Traditional Thai flavour and generous portion sizes.
Great food and lovely people. Local favourite for a work lunch!
We've been here twice in one week, and both times, all the dishes we've ordered have been pretty darned good (red duck curry, crispy chicken with sticky garlic sauce, pad Thai, green chicken curry). The prices are very reasonable, the staff are really friendly and the ambience is decent. Definitely worth a try. Or two.
Friendly, welcome. Fantastic service. Delicious menu and black sticky rice to die for! Good value for money.
Tasty Value with Friendly Smile. Been many times and always enjoy the meal which does not break the bank and is a viable alternative to home cooking
The lime and chili calamari salad is to die for - beautifully tender every single time. See you again next week!
A Take Out Must!. Came here with the intention to eat in, but there wasn't anyone and the tables available for this seemed pretty make-shift. Opted for the take out option instead, and the food was great! Its a shame there wasn't really a nice opportunity to eat there, and couldnt justify spending more for the same items for the "eat in" atmosphere.
Yum! but pricey. I ordered the chicken and cashew with coconut rice, was great vegies were all fresh.
however my friend had the pad thai and it wasnt that great.
Been here twice now after being recommended by a friend. Food is great and well priced. Highly recommended.
Simple little Thai restaurant - more like a cafe in size/decor.. amazing food and lovely service. Get takeaway and dine here regularly.
Hello all! After only about two and a half years we finally caught up with technology and joined urbanspoon! LOL
We, Chai Thai team try our very best every day to make your visit a memorable one (in a good way!) And we welcome all comments and suggestions. Anything we can do better! Please do not hesitate to let us know.
We are very thankful for your support!
Much love! Chai Thai
Top Thai. Best Thai in Brisbane. 4th time here and food has always been excellent quality whatever we've ordered and service is quick and friendly. Will be back again.
Lovely. Ordered food to be delivered, super quick, super tasty, great price, can't wait to go into the restaurant to eat, well done really authentic Thai!
Thai Me Up. I walked passed this restaurant a few times while I was staying in New Farm for a business trip. I have been a bit skeptic when a Thai place advertises authentic but have sweet and sour pork and chicken & cashews. As a lover of Thai food, I just couldn't resist to try it once. To my surprise, it was really good. Brisbane has been known for expensive and crappy food but this was a gem. Service was excellent and a very cozy little place on the corner. Price is cheap for location and be in early as there are very limited tables compared to the empty double shop front Indian restaurant next door. Will be back next time I'm in town.
I love Thai food.. I love this place. Food was beautiful and service was good as well.
We will definitely be back.
Excellent food and attentive service.
Great Duck Red Curry!. I have gone to Chai Thai a few times with my friends on a week night and I really like it. It is a bit simple and not very fancy, but it's really exactly what I am looking for when I want to have dinner with a few close friends and gab about stupid stuff.
THE DUCK RED CURRY IS AMAZING. They use predominately lychees and fruit with the duck curry and are very generous on the servings of the duck. I always buy an extra container take away so I can serve it up and take it to work for a few days after I go there. Definitely would recommend : )
Chai never fails us! Even though they Anglised their menu (I preferred their original tamarind prawns), the food is great. Love the larb fish

To say 'I liked this place' is a complete understatement. I am currently froffing at the bit, using all my will power to not lick the grains of coconut rice stuck in the corner of my plate.
Great Thai in New Farm!. A neighborhood favorite that doesn't ever disappoint. Fast, efficient and friendly service in a very busy restaurant! The Barramundi with Mango Salad is fresh and delicious with just enough spice. Another amazing favorite is the Salt and Pepper Calamari; always served piping hot and full of flavor. (if they are ever out of calamari, definitely substitute with the prawns!) Also, try the Red Curry Beef and Crispy Fish Filet. To finish, we LOVE the Thai Tea Gelato - creamy, delicious and spot on for flavor. The service is wonderful - which is quite refreshing and makes you want to return.
Chai is good.. I went here for a casual dinner with a couple of friends. Impressed! The staff happily moved around the tables to squeeze us into their funky little space. I had the duck rice paper rolls and seafood laksa. Ive had better rice paper rolls but the laksa was amazing. Generous serve, heaps of perfectly cooked seafood and spicy! Cant wait to go back, by far the best thai in new farm.
Great little joint!. Drove past this place heaps of times as I live in the same suburb but never got around to try it until tonight.
I ordered the Pad Thai and my partner ordered the Pad See Ew. We've both tried these dishes plenty of times before at other Thai restaurants, and being a big fan of Pad Thai myself, decided to give it a go. I thought the flavours of both dishes were great and the size of both was very reasonable (comparable to those in asian Sunnybank restaurants, which are always big). Both dishes were very well priced at $14.50.
I thought the thai ice tea which my partner ordered was very nice. However, I'm not too weather the fresh coconut juice was fresh or not. I've had coconut juice from restaurants a lot before and they often just poor a can of it into a cup with ice, and Chai's version tasted no difference. But I might be wrong.
Overall we had a very pleasant experience and the staff were also very nice. Would definitely consider going back.

Beautiful food, gorgeous layout. I visited Chai last night with a girlfriend and we were both so impressed. The restaurant is small and intimate, the tables were beautifully laid out with silver cups and orchids under the glass, lovely cushions, music not too loud. It made for a lovely experience and that was before we had even had anything to eat! The staff were helpful and friendly and attentive. When the food came we were amazed - such beautiful, fresh food for bargain prices. I was able to eat a 3 course meal for under $25! I particularly enjoyed the duck rice paper rolls as an entree (fresh with mint, lettuce and carrot) and the papaya salad, having never tried green papaya before it was a delightful surprise. I had the beef massaman curry for my main which was sweet and not overpowering, and the mango ice-cream for dessert which was a lovely serving size. I left feeling full, and satisfied, and nourished. I will definitely be back and be recommending this restaurant to everyone I know who wants a good eat for a great price in a fantastic setting. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
Brilliant Food. We visited Chai Thai last night and I must say it was a refreshing experience. The service was fantastic and the food was simply lovely and such great value. I am sure we will be back again very soon.
Authentic Green curry and Pad tai. Had a lunch for the first time with my girlfriend and her baby daughter. Not only we surprised at delicious curry and pad tai, taste very fresh and satisfying, but also we were touched by such a welcoming staffs.
They were so lovely and very very warm hearted staffs.
This place will be our new gathering spot ;)
