Had a great lunch at Yuet Wah today. Right up to standard having been a customer for many years. We had 23 today and were well catered for with tasty prawns and cashews, a beef curry with just the right bite and nicely crisp noodles with chicken. Friendly casual place with mine host Jimmy. And modest prices making for excellent value.

Been coming here since I was a kid with my parents . The food is delicious as always , Jimmy is a good bloke and always looks after us , thank you .
A gem in Taringa. Jimmy is a great host and loves a chat. A little old fashioned in the decor however the food definitely is fresh and tasty and a great variety. We love it, especially the Lemon Chicken and King Prawns with Ginger and Shallot.
Got take away from this little place on the advice of the reviews. The food was very good, I struggle to find good Chinese take away and this has been the best so far.

After being disappointed by so many Chinese options here in Brisbane, this unassuming restaurant makes high quality meals that are really tasty.
The decor is nothing much to look at (if you were to eat in), but the food is wonderful.
We try different things from the menu and they've all been great.
We had takeaway from Yuet Wah a couple of nights ago and the food was really tasty, we ordered the Mongolian beef, fried rice and also a chicken and vegetable stir fry dish. Definitely will visit again!
Extensive menu had many options to choose from with excellent pricing. Had a gentleman serve me could have been this jimmy character people in reviews speak of was friendly and quick service.
Yes the decor is dated as everyone mentions but the food and service is amazing. Not just Because it is well priced but the quality. Not over salted and if you get anything fried it has an incredible batter. A must try. Don't order off the Thai side of the menu as that is average. Lemon Chicken and Plum Pork are a must try
As others have said, you don't go to Yuet Wah for the decor - you go there for the very affordable, tasty food and service.
Yuet Wah is our go-to Chinese take-away restaurant. We've been getting take-away from here for the past six or seven years and I don't think that we'll ever stop. The owner is very nice and friendly, the food is tasty, the servings generous and he sometimes slips in a complimentary bag of prawn crackers. My son particularly loves the pork ribs in Peking sauce, and they are very good.
Nothing fancy, but highly recommended if you want a good "classic" Chinese meal.
The man that works there is lovely, very polite and nice and showed us to our table making us feel at home. Food is always freshly cooked, I had the lemon chicken and my partner had Mongolian lamb and we both shared a steamed rice. Prices were very good, and the food was delicious! It is very hard to find a good Chinese restaurant in Brisbane that isn't in the China Town in the Valley, so we finally found a place to come back to. The interior design is old fashioned but we aren't there for that. :) very pleased.
Regular for life. I've been eating at this restaurant since I was toddler and I absolutely love it. My family would dine in a lot and the owner still knows our order without us telling him. I prefer getting takeaway from this restaurant as the décor is not very exciting. The food is affordable and delicious however. I recommend their, spring rolls, wonton soup, special chow mein,Szechuan Chicken, lemon chicken, Mongolian lamb and the braised chicken and vegetables. I hope this restaurant gets more business, absolutely delicious food and they would get more money to finally improve the décor.
A bit disappointing. We got takeaway from this place after reading all the amazing reviews. Yes the food was quite cheap, but it was also very flavourless. We were expecting at least amazing comfort food fried rice like back when I was a kid, but it really didn't have all that much flavour. The honey chicken didn't taste like honey at all - we had to drizzle heaps of our own honey on it. Also for something like $13 there wasn't much chicken at all. We also got a BBQ pork in plum sauce, which was actually quite nice, but 95% of the "veggies" was onion. It wasn't a bad meal, we were still very full for under $15 each - just a bit disappointed.
Not much for atmosphere but a great neighborhood spot. We stopped in and had great service and left full. We will return.
Awesome!. We (a group of four) were looking for a good cheap place to have a meal, and we settled on Yuet Wah after having read the reviews on here. We weren't disappointed.
Our group ordered four dishes: the beef in black bean, honey chicken, BBQ pork in plum sauce, and the Singapore noodle. Two of us also shared a Chinese tea (a herbal leaf tea). All of the dishes stood out in their own way; I particularly enjoyed the generous amount of meat on the honey chicken (with just the right amount of batter), and the authentic flavours in the BBQ pork dish.
Most of the reviews here have mentioned the "dated" decor, but I think it instead represents the honesty of this place. Yuet Wah offers delicious, no-nonsense favourites at a price everyone's happy with. I really can't fault them there!
Forget the decor. Eveybody has already commented on the decor; it doesn't matter that it looks old and dated.
The food here is wonderful and well priced. This place has been there as long as I can remember, and the food has always been great. My favourite is the lemon chicken (none of that sauce out of a bottle like many other chinese restaurants out there...they make their own and it tastes like real lemon!). Fresh crisp veges (and not all celery either!!!), tasty sauces and tender cuts of meat. And the steamed dim sims!!!! YUM!!
Yuet Wah is the place to go to get simple, tasty chinese food without the high price or high pretension!
Go here for tea, or get takeaway - you won't be disappointed.
Classic "Australian" Chinese restaurant. Chinese food as I remember it from my 1970's childhood and at great prices. This has been my family's fallback dinner option for years.
Love my local Chinese. Really tasty, well priced food.
I recommend the chicken with ginger and shallots, also the scezhuan beef. Sorry, can't spell.
I agree with the last review regarding the decor, it's almost quite ugly but in a nice nostalgic way :)
I went to Yuet Wah with my husband on Valentine's day. Despite the no frills decor that is in desperate need of an update, the food was great. Everything was served as it was cooked, tasted fresh and delicious. If you are looking for a relaxed meal with a touch of nostalgia (when I was growing up, every family event was celebrated at our local Chinese restaurant with all the favorites - honey chicken, fried rice, Mongolian lamb...) then give Yuet Wah a go!
Cute little Chinese Restaurant with all the essential menu for choice. Lovely service and family atmosphere. Loved the salt and pepper fish. Currently 1st year anniversary with special discount, worth a visit if you are in the area.
Beef Chow Ho was delicious. It was very hot while serving and this is authentic! I will come again for this particular dish.
The salt and pepper spare rib was a bit salty but still juicy and yummy.
The stuffed pepper were too spicy but the stuffed tofu and eggplants were good.
The szechuan chicken was sweet but not spicy.
The staff are friendly and helpful.
Love the food and friendly staff. The food is very authentic and I love the black bean rice noodle and the three treasure stuffing. Very delicious 🍲🍚🍜 Be sure to check it out if you are around the Taringa area! Thank you Jeffrey and Alisha!
Our large family have been customers of this family owned Chinese restautant for over 40 years! The best in all respects in Brisbane. Now upgraded by the next generation of family to a very flash decor and menu but the food quality is still the same and EXCELLENT. Casual and very relaxed atmosphere. Do come and enjoy the experience - costs are very reasonable. We will keep coming, of course
Having eaten here on two separate occasions, first as an eat in guest and the other a take away order.
The eat in experience was nice, with very attentive service. The food very enjoyable to my special requirements and "off menu"
So too was my take out experience. The food was prepared to my special "off menu" requests.
Both times the eating experience was delightful.
Highly recommended for the quick and casual diner!!
This restaurant is a diamond in the rough. It's not the easiest to find or see but the decor, food and ambience is top notch. Newly renovated and with new menu items, this place offers excellent southern-Chinese-style food. There is a mixture of authentic Chinese food mixed with fusion dishes which makes the experience very pleasant.
The restaurant itself was very clean and tidy. There is a variety of fruit drinks and tea selections although no alcoholic beverages at this stage.
Price is very reasonable. Staff are extremely friendly and pleasant.
There's not too much to fault this restaurant.
Highly recommended.
Nice design and suit for what I want. I am happy with Allusion Design
Alisha from Allusion Designs was very nice and patient, easy to discuss with all the problems and helps a lot.
Strongly recommend Alisha from Allusion Designs.
