Good food especially for the price! I particularly like the pho with beef (spicy) and vermicelli salad with pork. Amazing and friendly service too :)

Chilli, salt and pepper pork for 9 bucks is the bomb. It's cheap, it's delicious and it is large so I'm full! Best value in the entire of st Lucia!

No frills vegetarian pho for a good price! Very authentic and tasty, good prices, nothing magical but it hit the spot that was craving Vietnamese pho

This is the best value tastiest Vietnamese around. $9.50 for a vermicelli salad or pho which is served promptly with a smile. I was devo'd I couldn't visit when they closed over Xmas but was glad to make it back this past weekend.

This place is awesome - I eat here way too much! I've only ever ordered the chicken vermicelli, but it is awesome and way better than I've had at some other vietnamese places in the area.

Not sure what Tom M was on about.... Just to clear up a few confusions created by Tom M's sub-par review:

Only 3 of approximately 50 various dishes offered at Chez Tessa are fried chicken. Furthermore the restaurant name is not confusing, to teach you a little history, Vietnam was colonised by France, hence the name "chez" tessa.

Aside from this flagrantly inaccurate review, I find the food fantastic. The prices offered are the most competitive in the small Hawken Village area, which is especially surprising given the primary demographic - university students.

Personally I would recommend some of the noodle soups or stir fries.

Would give 5/5 spoons.

Better than chips. Come for the Pho. When you come to a place like this, it's not for the service nor the atmosphere. Though you know... with the basic surroundings it does remind you of ye olde Vietnam.

$8 (I think?) for a bowl of quick noodle soup is the big selling point. The deep fried chicken wings are alright too. I thought the value for money was pretty good; makes this place an easy choice for a quick meal.

Perfect for Uni. I am a huge pho addict, and so I always get dish 41 - Beef rice noodle soup. It's not the most flavoursome pho I've ever had, but it's pretty darn good, and it costs less than what you pay for most decent food items at uni ($7.50 at time of writing). Great for a quick healthy meal, good large size, good quantity of noodles. Service has never been rude, always very friendly.

We also tend to get the steamed dim sim, and today tried the fried wontons, both of which are nice little appetisers. Have had the spring rolls before, but not particularly nice in my opinion.

Also have had chicken rice noodle soup - I'd definitely recommend against this dish. If you've ever had the crispy skin chicken soup at Phuc Viet Deli at Indooroopilly (amazing, but more than double the price), you will find this to be the most horribly bland dish you've ever tasted.

Overall, cheap and tasty - I continue to visit at least weekly!

Definitely worth a try!. I've lived in the st lucia area for more than 10 years and can't believe I hadn't tried this place until recently. It's definitely no frills but delicious and one of the cheapest eats around!

No frills but damn kickass. Long time student hangout serving up great cheap viet dishes. Noodle soups served with an abundance of condiments for under 8 bucks! If u want a great cheap feed at the hawken ville, make sure this is your option

The food is so much better now under the new management. Their shallow and ginger chicken is a must-try. My friends ordered pho and is better than it was used to be. Staff is nice too. Now can finally get some decent Vietnamese and Cantonese food in the area. Ps. Have read the negative comments of this shop and am surprised as the one I had was really nice and so worth the price.

This is the best pho I've ever had. I studied on the UQ campus and I would eat lunch here every single time, no exceptions. I would always have pho and it was so good I would order 1.5 bowls of pho (they gave me a special portion just because I used to order it so much; 1 bowl was too little but my stomach couldn't handle 2 bowls). I now live in Melbourne but I still dream of eating the pho here. The owners and people serving here are really nice and accommodating, and the food is such good value for money. I can't wait for border restrictions to lift so I can come back to eat more pho!

No frills place with quick service and a couple of vegetarian options. It was updated a couple of years back, but is looking a bit worse for wear now.
