Review Quixotic Indian - Brisbane

Mark Davies
Quite easily the best Indian restaurant in Brisbane (and we've tried a lot)! Doesn't need all the fancy marketing of its competitors. The quality of the food speaks for itself and the customer service is just as impressive. The Lamb Rogan Josh and Chicken Tikka Masala are our regular choices and are that tasty we're reluctant to order anything different!

Tucked away in one of my local open air shopping mall, this place serves delicious Indian fare with all your usuals on the menu. Might not look fancy, but verifiably delicious with complementary pappadum and rice is included in the curry.

Terrible...worst curries we have! Strange taste definitely not traditional indian curries! Ordered medium got hot...not very much meat lots of strange tasting sauce! $85 family deal and 95% went to the bin!

Despite forgetting the small rice in our order, this is certainly the best Indian in the Western suburbs. The meal deal 2 is excellent value and the samosas are a must to try!

Service was excellent and the food was delicious!! My mum normally doesn't like Indian food but she said this place is amazing! She loved their spinach and feta naan bread🤣

Takeaway curry seems like a good idea, but then you get it home and realize it wasn't what you thought it was! I started with a mixed entree which included chicken tikka, seekh kebab, onion pakora, aloo bhonda & vegetable samosa. The onion pakora and aloo bhonda were passable, if bland, however the seekh kebab was not a kebab, but a single piece of meat, seasoned well but dry. The vegetable samosa was over-fried and dark brown on the outside. Finally the chicken tikka was woeful - extremely dry, overcooked and definitely reheated thigh chicken. I wonder how many days it had been sitting in a fridge?? It was like chewing crusty old boots, and with absolutely none of the moist tikka paste you might expect. My lamb saagwala had a good heat but lacked flavour, it was as bland as can be. The rice was the standout to the whole meal, it was fresh and perfectly cooked. Finally, I had a keema naan which is supposedly 'spicy lamb mince, cooked in the tandoor' - I would describe it as 'dry, bland, tasteless bread with a sprinkling of mince'. Overall very disappointing, I would have been $25 better off with a home made curry out of a jar!

Absolutely the worst customer experience. Rang twice, once to order then to confirm food order. I first rang to confirm if they deliver to my address. Then I ordered online through their website via Menulog because they only do cash for phone orders. I then rang again to confirm that the order went through, because I didn't get a receipt for the transaction. I quoted my address and the guy on the phone told me it would be delivered in 30 minutes, I informed him that I didn't get a receipt and he assured me it would be on it's way. As it turns out the order didn't process online, clearly the guy didn't check the system. Being that I was unwell and also being a first time user, I was looking forward to my dinner. When I rang back nobody answered. I rang Menulog who contacted the owner. I then called the owner and he was very apologetic and offered me a free meal on Wednesday (today) but has since reneged on the deal. Fortunately it's still early enough to grab something else tonight, as Monday night left me with little choice other than pizza. Never going to that restaurant.

Extremely friendly staff. Always a good start. We ate in and were not disappointed. Each dish had its own taste and texture. Nan breads were amazingly fresh. We will go back....

Delicious food, best naan bread i have ever had. Beautiful creamy cheese and spinach naan. Great lassi too. All food was very tasty and well priced. Definitely will be going back and they deliver!

The butter chicken was beautiful and sweet, the best butter chicken I've ever had. Rice was included complimentary which was surprising. Prices are good, and staff are friendly.

Beautiful food..and very friendly staff. Food is cooked to order. Good kids menu and well priced. Vegetarian selection is great and the meat curries just the right level of spice. Highly recommend.

Awesome veggie samosas. This is our favourite of the Indian restaurants in the Centenary area. The staff are very nice, on-time and professional when we have ordered takeaway or delivery. The food is consistent. The veggie samosas are awesome! We gave feedback about their website, and it was changed right away to be more accommodating. The one time we did have to wait, we were offered lassi. I wish they had aloo tiki chaat. :)

Do not recommend we ordered the butter chicken and mango chicken. The mango chicken resembled soap and the butter chicken tastes like tomato sauce with a hint of soap. The nan bread was really thin but was edible.

Good Indian Food. Very accomodating and good and service. Food is reasonably priced and well prepared, could do with more protein in the dishes but still adequate.

Not enough meat otherwise great. As previously mentioned by other reviewers there is a notable shortage of protein in the dishes which is a real shame as the flavours are great as is the service. Hopefully the owners take note as we likely won't return if things don't change.

Not too bad. Take away order of butter chicken and two naans. My order was ready in no time, efficient and friendly service. The only negative would be the minimal amount of chicken in the dish - 7 x 10c size pieces.

Food cold-uncooked chicken---- very STINGY WITH MEAT IN CURRIES AND NAAN FILLINGS BARELY THERE.. Been here twice. first time when they first opened and meat was sus and potato balls cold in the middle-inedible.
second time last night, 10th july and chicken was cold and UNCOOKED. have 2 disabled children and had to pack them up and drive back to shop to return product. INCONVENIENT AND PRECIOUS TIME WASTED .. Naan bread with fillings HAVE MINIMUM, BARELY FILLED. Went to other take aways in the complex....
Quixotic staff are friendly enough but have difficulty with communication and friggn hopeless with the refund and BARELY AN APOLOGY-the chef didn't come out to look at food and they weren't interested in complaint .fobbed me off as quickly as they could because they were busy. POOR POOR POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE--- OVER PRICED AND STINGY WITH MAIN INGREDIENTS camoflauged by sauces. Naan bread fillings pathetically underfilled. TRY ASHOKA INDIAN BEHIND JINDALEE POOL IN UPSTAIRS BUILDING INSTEAD. WHAT A DIFFERENCE---

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE QUIXOTIC INDIAN AND WILL NOT BE RETURNING!!

Really great flavours - have tried butter chicken, lamb rogan josh and various naans takeaway and they were delicious... My
only gripe would be that there is plenty of great sauce but not enough meat. Stinginess on the meat is never good.
