Review Top Nosh Coffee Shop & Deli - Brisbane

My partner ordered the $16 chicken burger. It took her around 5 bites just to get to one of the two very thin chicken pieces which resembled minute steaks. I ordered the chicken and mushroom pie, only to recieve a thin wedge of a family pie. Trying to be fancy and rip people off, but they just don't pull it off. Cook at home or go elsewhere for value for money.

Absolute disgrace... Ordered a flat white and eggs benedict. Coffee bitter and burnt. The eggs benedict made my jaw drop for all the wrong reasons. A small piece of white toast with two eggs sitting on it and a very very large pouring of a packet hollandaise sauce - so much that there was no toast or egg flavour at all! Oh, it was garnished with two huge chunks of tomato that were over-ripe and looked ridiculous. For $14.90 I don't expect the world, but I can make that at home better... I won't be back. Looking at the other reviews and the photos here - it looks like they've changed hands. The Cafe is very bare and simple.

Outstanding breakfast here! All staff are extremely polite and friendly and will do anything to keep the customer satisfied. Great idea of having a little antique/gift shop inside as well so you could double with breakfast and shopping in the same spot! Highly recommended for breakfast

Magical things happen here - I once saw a bare knuckle boxing match between a fully grown Kodiak bear and a homeless man called Guilfried. It was interesting that the bear decided to fight southpaw - no pun intended. The fight went for 8 rounds and the winner was given a free breakfast of their choosing. Let's just say the teddy bear did not have a picnic that day - Guilfried had a left uppercut that could be felt in Senegal, and the Kodiak bear's diaphragm will never be the same. Guilfried chose the Top Nosh big breakfast, but died soon after because of how good it was. If you're lucky enough to get down to Top Nosh at Aspley - brave yourself for not only a spectacular breakfast, but possibly an 'Ali v Foreman' fight that could shape the world. Guilfried also signs autographs out the front most Tuesdays. The bear is dead.

Avoid this place. Total rip off. Charged me for tap water. Size of my toasted sandwich was half of what it should be. When questioned I was told we couldn't buy larger size bread.

Tasty, standard breakfast fare. Pretty good for a local coffee shop, nothing special, but reasonably priced.

Ok small business that used to sell gift wares. Used to accept Bartercard.

Great breakfast deal if ordered before 8am.

This cafe has obviously been sold to new owners.

The whole cafe is bare; and is in need of some sort of refurbishment. There are shelves on the walls with nothing on them and the general atmosphere is unwelcoming. This can be overlooked though.
As for food, it's tasty enough but $14 for a chicken wrap when you can get a bigger sandwich across the road for under $6 definitely makes this place over priced.
Staffing - often there's only two people in there which makes food service very slow.

Very poor experience. GF toast was aweful, like cardboard and had chemical taste. Poached eggs came out uncooked. They re-did them and they still came out uncooked and heaps of water on our plate. Avocado came out still in its skin. Waiter seemed rude and disinterested in his job. All around a pretty bleak outcome for this cafe.

Gross!!! Everyone kept leaving uncooked eggs on their plates and a few people complained that they were underdone while I was there. We also then asked to have ours sent back to be cooked more as they were still clear but they of course cooked new eggs that we're still underdone leaving the rest of our breakfast cold and unappealing. The coffee also tasted almost old and watery and was just terrible. Needless to say we didn't eat or drink we just left also it was really sad to see how the waiter dealt with an old lady ahead of me when lined up to order, he was so disrespectful and dismissive. Equally as rude to me.

Wed is not request a refund and decided to go elsewhere to eat something appealing.

Do not go here!

Pleasant & Delicious Surprise. Went for the first time today and am going back. The "homemade" chicken & mushroom pie with chips & gravy was amazing. My surprise was that the inside of the pie didn't look like your typical pie. There was none of the usual "sauce like" mixture, they usually contain which you would think would make it dry...it wasn't...it was yummy and moist and the gravy on the side makes it perfect to add as much or as little as you like. (I love my gravy.). The mango smoothie was just as good. I intend to return as I want to try the rest of the menu. Loved it...their site says "homemade"...it looked "homemade" and tasted "homemade". Keep it up & don't change (unless for the better). :-)

A lot of potential but in need of serious customer service improvement. The food was ok, in fact I'm sure it was good however we were so appalled by the service that we couldn't enjoy the place and what it looked so promising. Upon arrival we went to the counter and said: "good morning can we have a table for 2", the guy there didn't say good morning and with a grumpy face literally said: "menus on the table come back when you are ready to order".
The available tables were dirty and there was one with a reserve sign we asked the guy at the counter if it was ok to take the clean table or if we should wait for one to be cleaned. He replied with a face of inconvenience: " oh yeah that's not reserved".

When we got our food the waitress didn't greet us. When we left my partner said to her thank you and we got no reply.
Perhaps it sounds like I'm whining but we do breakfast every Sunday and we are constantly looking for new places. Just as an advised: people go eat out not just for food but for a good experience, perhaps send your staff to take notes at cafés like "Home Cafe" at Ashgrove or "Hansel & Gretel" Gaythorne they might learn how simple good manners can go a long way.

Long Wait. The couches are comfortable and the decor is really interesting & they have cool trinkets and clothes for sale everywhere. Despite this, the food and service was not good. The prices are not worth what you get in return.

When I went up to the counter to order, a tall blond young man took my order. I was polite but he hardly looked at me and was curt and unfriendly. I ordered a simple club sandwich- after waiting about 20 minutes (the place had a few people in it drinking coffees), I went up and asked if it would take much longer and if it was possible to get it in a takeaway container. He said it would take an additional 10- 15 minutes and gave no apology.

I could see into the kitchen and it looked like they had just started it as I walked up and they had forgotten about my order. It came out and it was supposed to have cranberry sauce and a few other ingredients that were missing. It had an under ripe tomato and under cooked bacon. The avocado was also brown.

Anyways, overall- I do not recommend going here.

Great drinks, food is very average. Some staff are very unfriendly & can be quite rude. We once had our meal shoved into our hands instead of placed on the table by the young male serving. Great for a nice cold drink, however not a fan of the food.

Best coffee in brisbane. I pretty much live here. Best breakfast and lunch going around!!!

Glad to see that Nosh-ing has changed!. I was interested to see how/if Top Nosh had changed since being first introduced ~5 years ago. I am glad to report that, for the most part, it hasn't. The gourmet sandwich was just the right size, & the novelty of adding your own caffeine hit to an iced coffee never fades (& hurrah for no sign of whipped cream!). My companion was equally happy with the eggs benedict & 'very generous' thickshake, with the only disappointment being that even the gluten free bread didn't seem to completely agree with her.

Best malted lime thickshake in the world!!!

Usually good however service was super slack this morning. Fellow looked like had better places to be. Waited 30 mins for a simple sandwich. On a bright note, best milkshakes!

Simple and good.... Stopped in for a quick coffee and toasted HCT (ham cheese tomato) sandwich... simple and good!

Hidden delight. Great little café hidden off the main road but totally worth the effort to find. We stumbled across it after walking out of the Hogs Breath across the road - we'd waited an hour for our meals. This was a total contrast. Great service, yummy burgers / sandwiches and all services in a reasonable timeframe.
We'll be back!

Lost all credibility. My son and I decided to treat ourselves to the cheap brekky. We had been here a few times before (had only discovered it recently, but had visited often in that short time) Up until today, this was one of our favourite cafes.
We arrived 3 minutes after the cheap breakfast ended, and had to pay full price. "ok", we thought, we did come after the time cut off. So what would have cost $32 ended up costing $47. Que se re.
there was a party of men at the table next to us, most had ordered before us. At least 5 mins after we sat down, another man joined their party. He went to the counter to order and came back. One of his collegues asked if he got it at the cheap price and he said "yes". I don't care if he was from the same party. He came after us and ordered after us and we had to pay full price, why didn't he?
After waiting for 1/2 an hour we asked how our meals were going, since my son had to be at school in 15mins. At this time, the party of men's meals were delivered.... including the man who ordered after us. 10 mins later, the waitress came back to say that chef was just plating up. 10 minutes later, still, I went up to the counter to see chef whisking, (our meals did not require whisking) and 2 empty plates on the bench. I said "I was told chef was plating up, and clearly he wasn't so would like our money back as we are now late for school". I also said "I don't appreciate being lied to". The other waitress went to the register to get my money back. The original waitress, went to tell chef, who rolled his eyes. We left. As I left, I counted the money, did the maths and realised that she had not given me the correct amount for the meals we had ordered, less drinks. I went back, checked the menu and told her that she had under paid me. She then gave me the remainder that was owed.
So this place has gone from somewhere that we we happy to go to, and tell others about, to a place that has lost all credibility and we will be telling everyone not to go there. We will instead tell people that the staff are liars.
Word of mouth can make or break a business..... you picked the wrong person to lie to. I will only tell the truth, in that up until this incident the food was great, the service was great.... but today you failed, and lost our business forever!!!!!!!!
